Physical Description

Aspect of Gorgon by Willian Murai

Hasina is a slender, shapely Essyrni woman who looks younger than her thirty-four years of age. She has the dark skin, full lips, and wide eyes characteristic of Essyrni women, and keeps her dark brown hair into long, thick braids.

Hasina's typical outfit consists of of a faded purple shawl over a backless white blouse, a thin, slitted gray skirt, and simple leather sandals.

Personality

Hasina lives life as lightly and freely as possible. Consequences are just problems for her future self, and she does not envy that woman – she indulges in wine, dance, and the company of beautiful young individuals as much as she can. In particular, she is a notoriously poor spender and reckless gambler, which has gotten her into her fair share of trouble.

Underneath this hedonistic exterior is a broken woman who deeply resents her harsh, isolated, and heavily religious upbringing. Although she initially only hated her family of demon worshipers, Hasina learned to feel the exact same way towards any zealot of any faith. And in general, she cannot stand those with rigid modes of thinking.

Hasina's normally carefree disposition changes remarkably when matters concern her daughter Katyasa. Hasina is remarkably protective of her daughter, and does everything she can for Katyasa's sake – she may regret this parenting style in the future, but that's just a problem for her future self.

Magic

By virtue of possessing Zahhakis's blood, Hasina can call upon some of the dread aspects of her ancestor – albeit in a sharply limited form.

Aspect of Dread – With the Aspect of Dread, Hasina can assume the visage of her demonic ancestor to induce the fear of death into up to ten perceived targets within a sixty-foot radius. This does not work on artificial creatures or creatures that do not possess an innate fear of death.

Aspect of Shadow – With the Aspect of Shadow, Hasina can assume a black smoke-like form. In this form, she is intangible and difficult to see in darkness or low light. She cannot attack or manifest any of the other Aspects while in this form, and must rematerialize in a process that takes about six seconds.

Aspect of Carnage – With the Aspect of Carnage, Hasina can conjure two shadowy blades in her hands at will almost instantaneously. These blades disappear when they are not in contact with her.

Aspect of Brutality – With the Aspect of Brutality, Hasina can amplify her strength, speed, and durability with her natural magical reserves. The greater the increase, the more magic she needs to expend.

Aspect of Damnation – With the Aspect of Damnation, Hasina can conjure blasts of hellfire, either in a single-target line or in a cone. The narrower the blast, the greater the force.

Katyasa does not possess any magical abilities yet.

Abilities

Assassination Skills – Hasina is an expert at stealth and subterfuge, and is knowledgeable of the use of various poisons.

Combat Conditioning – Hasina is a master of every weapon common in Essyrn. She has also mastered various forms of unarmed combat.

Katyasa is by all respects a regular nine-year-old girl.

Relationships

TBD.

History

Nestled deep in the Moraki Desert is a temple dedicated to the great demon Zahhakis, who once took human form and mated with a woman to create demon-blooded sorcerer descendants. These demon-blooded descendants would act as Zahhakis's agents in the mortal realm, carrying out dark rites and assassinations for their ancestor. They propagated themselves for generations by seducing outsiders into mating with them, then siring a child with which they would abscond.

Many generations after their ancestor first took human form, the ir'Zahhakis – as they became known – stopped receiving communications from their ancestor and master. Without their demonic god to guide them, the Zahhakis eventually became thieves and assassins for hire, although some still kept the faith and all continued their traditions of propagation and subsequent kidnapping.

It was in this age of uncertainty that Hasina was born, the union of an ir'Zahhakis mother and a wealthy Essyrni merchant. Trained since birth to be a natural assassin and warrior-mage, Hasina endured torturous alchemical conditioning and harsh training to become a living weapon. All of this, of course, was in service to her clan – and none of it was her choice. She was destined to lead this life from the day she was born.

Of course, Hasina hated this rigid upbringing. Every night for as long as she could remember, she dreamed of escaping from her family and its traditions. So at eighteen, while on an assignment, she abandoned her cousins and never came back.

Hasina's life has been an adventuress's life since then. She made significant sums of money adventuring and wasted said sums just as quickly – this has created a trail of creditors who are currently on her tail. She made many friends and connections throughout Le'ranna, but never settled down for more than half a year. Well, almost never.

Two years after leaving her family, Hasina found herself with child. No-one knows who the true father is, not even Hasina herself; there were roughly four strapping young male candidates, and the relevant instances were driven entirely by loveless desire. All she knows is that the father gave their daughter Katyasa strong Adelan features. It isn't relevant to her, anyway.

Hasina and Katyasa now flit from place to place, never staying so far – for fear of the other ir'Zahhakis and the many creditors Hasina has managed to anger. Of course, Hasina isn't giving up her lifestyle any time soon...

Essyrn / Sneaky Scribe [closed]

As Kovarst slid his way into the Great Library of Essyrn's forbidden section in fox form, he couldn't shake the feeling that he may have walked into a trap. It had been too easy to sneak in! With a sneer, he shifted back into his human form, then put his hands into his pockets and grinned like a little boy in a pastry shop. There were so many forbidden books here, books that he could scrounge around in and learn new things from!

Taking a tentative first step into the library, Kovarst closed his eyes – then, when it became evident that nothing had happened, opened them again. At the impunity with which he acted, he couldn't help a chuckle. This was going to be fun, wasn't it?

Now if only he'd remembered to bring a notebook...but if it was this easy to sneak in, then he'd definitely have enough time and energy for repeat visits.

Kovarst stumbled through the woods with a grimace. Well, this was just perfect; he'd given himself away. Now the entire town – and probably several others, with how fast word spread – knew that there was a dragon in the vicinity. He hadn't done anything more serious than try to eat some chickens.

If only he hadn't gotten caught in that trap, or shifted back into his true form in time...

The wound on his talon had since healed, but he'd already left tracks and a trail of blood behind. Kovarst seemed to remember somewhere that flying while you were bleeding was a bad idea. And the pain still lingered, which left his mind in too much of a haze to fly properly. So he had to resort to stalking about in the woods.

He was a proverbial sitting duck here, just ripe for the slaughter...no doubt that they'd sent people after him already. The threat a dragon posed could not be overlooked...

Physical Description

Kovarst's true form is that of a winged chalk-white dragon with gold fangs and claws, emerald-green eyes, and light gray wing membranes. He stands at about seven feet tall and measures thirteen feet from snout to tail. His snout is the usual beaklike snout of his particular breed, and gives him an almost vulture-like quality.

Kovarst can assume two alternate forms; the form of a pale human and the form of a white-furred fox. In human form, he appears as a pale, slender young man with emerald eyes and chalk-white, shoulder-length hair. Small white scales grow on his wrists and ankles, signs of his true heritage and failure to fully master his transformation.

Personality

Kovarst is a generally good-natured, kind person to everyone he meets. Even his lifespan's too short to make too many enemies, and he prefers to give everyone the benefit of the doubt - and given his relative strength, he can very well afford to deal with the less pleasant people he meets. Nevertheless, he is not above skulduggery if it'll get him what he wants, and has mastered certain forms of deception and theft.

On the flipside, Kovarst has the arrogance that is so characteristic of his kind. Born one of the strongest mortal races, Kovarst relishes in his power, and loves to flaunt his superiority in others' faces - even if said superiority is only in his imagination. He speaks with the diction of someone who is well-read and aware of it.

Kovarst loves books, even going so far as to enroll in Airelos University at a formative age to get as many of them as possible. He devours (not literally) as many tomes as he can get his talons on. He's also not someone who has a very good work ethic, owing to his natural talents and general arrogant personality.

Kovarst loses his usual cool around attractive women, and has never personally pursued any sort of sexual or romantic relationship.

Magic/Abilities

Dragon Physiology - Kovarst has the powers traditionally associated with dragons; flight, fire breath, natural weapons, and so on.

Shapeshifting - Kovarst can shapeshift reliably into two forms; a human form with dragon characteristics and a white fox form. He possesses all the strengths and weaknesses of whatever form he is currently in, and retains his ability to speak in fox form.

Minor Conjuration - Kovarst can conjure simple clothes around himself when shifting into human form.

Power Drain - Kovarst's most prized ability is his ability to drain an individual's mana by biting them. He can only use this ability while in his true dragon form.

Relationships

None yet.

History

(May be expanded on in the future.)

Kovarst hasn't exactly had a very storied life, being only nineteen years old. Born to two dragon parents, he was naturally curious about the world around him. This natural curiosity led him to seek further education in Airelos University, with the blessing (and considerable funding) of his parents. Upon graduation, he decided to wander the world to get a better sense of it.

As Caia stepped onto the port, she yawned. She'd just gotten her pay, and boy was she famished and tired! Guarding the ship had gone as smoothly as it could, which had its upsides and downsides; no innocent lives were put at risk, but no excitement was to be found either. Well, Caia supposed that one couldn't have their way all the time.

Despite no longer having anything in common anymore with her traveling-partner, Caia couldn't help but regard Antique with a strange sort of curiosity. There was something...different about the dark-haired woman that Caia couldn't put her finger on. She'd met lots of types in her career, but something about Antique stuck in her mind.

"Hey there," she said, walking up to Antique. She'd only spoken with Antique briefly, and always on topics of little-to-no consequence. "I'll be staying here for a few days, so if you're doing likewise...want to grab a drink?"

Physical Description

The first thing one is likely to notice about Caia is her slightly messy silver hair, which is cut at about shoulder-length and frames her wide, light blue eyes and heart-shaped face. Caia has lightly tanned skin from frequent exposure to the sun, and possesses a broad-shouldered, athletic build from years of practice and combat experience. Small scars from old battles adorn her body, mostly focused on her torso and back.

Caia's usual attire consists of a white shirt, gray breeches, and dark brown leather boots. She is often seen brandishing an obsidian black sword that she calls Dusktalon; because of its magical nature, she does not carry it in a scabbard.

Personality

Caia's most notable trait is the absolute relish with which she treats life. Boisterous and cheerful, she makes sure to have a good time whenever she can - the life expectancy in her profession isn't very high, after all. She's also known for being quite blunt, and doesn't mince her words; double-meanings and veiled messages are worthless to her.

Almost as important is Caia's strong moral code - she has no tolerance for injustice, and will always side with the victim over the predator. The desire to help and protect others is what makes her do what she does, and she's pretty damn good at it. She's willing to sacrifice her life so that others may live, and has almost done so many times before.

Although Caia shows no hesitation in killing an enemy, she will attempt to subdue whenever possible...which admittedly, isn't very often. Caia will also not take on jobs that conflict with her moral code; generally speaking, anything that does not involve the protection of innocents will get at least a second glance from her.

Magic/Abilities

Before meeting The Oubliette, Caia only had her combat prowess to bank on - said skill, however, is nothing to sneeze at. She is capable and competent with a variety of combat styles, although she specializes in swordplay and unarmed combat.

Contact with The Oubliette has granted her two simple yet powerful magical abilities. Firstly, she can increase her strength, speed, and durability by converting her mana reserves to raw physical strength. Secondly, she can summon and unsummon a sword called Dusktalon out of thin air at will - because of its magical nature, Dusktalon can affect incorporeal entities, although that is the extent of its ability.

Relationships

Caia has friends all around Le'ranna, although she rarely gets to see them regularly. Such is the life of a traveling mercenary. Both her parents are alive and well in her small Serenian town - she writes letters to them occasionally.

History

Born to a middle-class mercantile family in the coastal town of Omber, Summervale, there isn't much to be said about Caia's early life. Were it not for her wanderlust and drive to help people, she would've grown to become a sailor like her paternal grandfather or a merchant like her father.

Her first combat teacher was her maternal uncle, a former soldier in the Serenian army - after which she started her career as a sellsword and mercenary. She has since studied under many other teachers, of varying backgrounds and degrees of competence. Nonetheless, her best teacher has always been her own combat experience.

During a job to rescue a child in an underground dungeon, Caia came into contact with a mysterious entity calling itself "The Oubliette." In exchange for devotion to its ideals of Freedom and Protection, the Oubliette granted her increased physical prowess and the ability to summon a sword called Dusktalon. As she was already doing those things anyway, Caia accepted the entity's offer.

If one were to pass through the Draconi Forest's beaten path at this time of day, one would notice a very unusual sight. Lying at the side of the road was a sleeping boy, snoring loudly despite the danger all around him. Generally, a boy sleeping at the side of the road would have an instant target slapped on his back, except for one thing.

Nothing was coming near him.

Sarnath lay against a tree's trunk, snoring heavily. Occasionally, he'd let out a small burst of flame on reflex. Surrounding him was a semicircle of charred earth, an additional warning to any who dared come near this seemingly harmless boy.

Evidently, though, said warning wasn't enough for some people. As he sensed one such person standing above him, Sarnath opened his eyes and looked up. "Good morning to you too," he said, a carefree smirk on his face.

Somewhere in Alta Verde.

Rian rubbed two coins together. Their latest score – a merchant caravan – had proven quite the prize indeed. With the amount of money they'd made, he could even go honest; not that he wanted to do so in the first place. Banditry brought in too much for him to even consider another way.

He leaned against the cavern wall. Next to him, four other of his comrades were rolling dice, playing some dumb game that they had all the money in the world to bet on. Even here, money made the world go 'round. Rian was too tired to join in, though.

Suddenly, he heard something drop. Turning around, Rian unsheathed his sword.

At the mouth of the cave, barely visible through torchlight, was a young woman in a tight-fitting blue uniform. As far as Rian could tell, she wasn't armed. Rian looked to his comrades – they'd already noticed the woman standing, and had ceased their game of craps. "Who's there?" Rian said, pointing his sword at her.

"Rogues and villains, I'm warning you. Stand down or face the consequences!" the woman said, her voice echoing through the cave. Rian took a second to think about what she'd said, and then laughed – a laughter joined in by the other four bandits.

"And why shouldn't we come over there, drag that pretty little face of yours down to the cellar, tie you up, and –"

"Because I'd break all your fingers if you even tried to touch me," the woman said. Through the torchlight, Rian could make out a smile.

"This is your final warning. Stand down!"

"A'right, fuck this," Rian said, breaking into a stride. "Get 'er!"

The first to charge at the woman was a bandit wielding a battleaxe – once he swung, Rian thought that the woman would be cut clean in two. Instead, she disappeared in a blur, then reappeared behind the man – she chopped him in the neck, then sent him flying into the nearby cavern wall with a roundhouse kick.

Rian stopped mid-charge and took a step back. The remaining three bandits had also been stunned, which was enough time for the woman to rush forward and knock one of them out with a swift uppercut to the jaw. She followed it up by punching to the stomach to the adjacent bandit, causing an audible shockwave – as he keeled over, she clapped her hands around his helmeted head and Rian heard a crack.

The last bandit had been slowly advancing behind her, and just when her guard was down, he lunged with his dagger...only for it to meet thin air as she twirled past it and delivered a right hook straight to his face.

The woman turned and began slowly advancing onto Rian. He could see her features more clearly now – she had her golden hair done up in curls, and a wide smirk on her face.

Rian dropped his sword and held his hands up. "I surrender!"

The woman walked up and stood on her tip-toes, so her face was level with his. "A wise choice," she said, cocking her head sideways.

That was the last thing Rian saw before she flicked him in the forehead, and everything went dark.

Plotting Center / Uptown Girl Looking For Love
May 18, 2019, 09:53:42 PM
Overview

I’ll be direct. I want a romantic RP with a defrosting ice-queen plotline.

Details

Eleanor Bradamante is a girl in a cage. A gilded cage, yes, but a cage nonetheless. After her two years of adventuring are up, she’s to return to her family home in Algieri to be married off. Secretly, she despises this state of affairs, but she sees no other way out. For the good of her bloodline, she needs to do this.

Eleanor’s personality is thus: boisterous, cocky, and easy to get along with. It’s a mask, though, and deep underneath it is a deeply insecure girl. She has a very bleak worldview - in it, the strong do what they please and the weak suffer what they must. Deep down, she despises this state of affairs, but all alternatives are barred from her.

Requirements

The first thing I need is a partner who’s committed! The key word here is partner: our characters will likely be traveling together, so we’ll need to thread together. Sometimes by ourselves, sometimes with other people, but always together.

The second thing I require is regular, constant communication. I prefer Discord (mine is Lavos#9699; I’m also on the SoTE Discord with the same handle), but PM is fine. As long as it’s a method through which we can constantly contact one another, it should be fine. If it’s Discord, I’d prefer it if you were on the server, since my friends list is kind of full.

Preferences

I’d like for her romantic interest to be a boy, but I’m also open to it being a girl; hence why I labeled Eleanor as bicurious.

I’m looking for a simple person to complement Eleanor’s glamorous background. I’m averse to him or her being a jerk - that’ll only cool Eleanor further, and that’s not a storyline I’d personally enjoy. But if you can come up with a compelling plotline between the two, then anything is fine.

I’d prefer if Eleanor’s romantic pair come from a humble background for the extra-spicy class conflict angle, but another noble will do in a pinch.

Also, can they be hot? ;_;

Summary

So to recap, I’m looking for a defrosting ice-queen plotline with a partner who’s in it for the long haul. Any takers? Reply here or PM me with your character if interested!

Physical Description

Art by Manuel Castañón

Aubrey has messy, waist-length light brown hair. Aubrey's eyes are wide and light gray, and capped by long, thin eyebrows. She has overall soft features, an aquiline nose, and full lips. Deceptively small and thin at first glance, her superficially soft features hide hardened muscle underneath.

Aubrey dresses for function, not form; she wears a hooded brown cloak over a loose white tunic, a brown belt, and brown pants. Pointed black shoes complete her outfit. The only luxury she permits herself is the pair of studded silver earrings she wears.

Personality

TBD.

Magic/Abilities

Aubrey is an extremely powerful mage, considered a once-in-a-generation prodigy by her peers. Although not adept enough with politics to rise in magical society, she cares little for status - as long as she can use her powers to protect others from demons, she's fine with whatever rank they give her.

Aubrey's most commonly-used ability is her capability to reinforce both her body and her clothing with magic. She can harden her skin or the cloth she's wearing to have the hardness of steel, and can magically boost her strength, speed, reaction time, healing factor, and stamina by running mana through her body.

Aubrey's other "main" ability is to conjure bladed weapons of various shapes and sizes, such as swords and daggers. She can either wield these weapons or shoot them out at high speeds. Being among the first few spells she's learned, she uses both this and her reinforcement ability as her bread-and-butter when in combat.

Aubrey is adept at conjuring and manipulating all four classical elements; earth, water (including ice), air, and fire. She can use these for offensive purposes, to augment her blades, or as a support ability.

Aubrey is also an expert at bladed weapons and athletics, thanks to the training Ricard Hargon provided her. She has extensive knowledge of summoning rituals, but refuses to use her knowledge on principle.

Relationships

Ricard Hargon - Father (Adoptive)

History

Aubrey was born to a working-class family in a far-off village somewhere in Serendipity. When Aubrey was too young to remember, her parents died in a mine shaft accident. After that incident, she was taken in by her aunt. Her aunt doted on her, and she was raised knowing full well of the tragedy that marked her early years. Little did anyone know that she had immense magical potential from birth.

When she was old enough, the ghost of her father visited her in her dreams. He told her that there was a way to bring him and her mother back, but it would take an immense amount of practice on her part. Aubrey's father tutored her in the arts of magic, paying special attention to the art of summoning.

Then the day came when she was powerful and knowledgeable enough to resurrect her father. Overjoyed, she rushed to complete the ritual, expecting to summon her father - and ended up summoning the demon that had been masquerading as her father's ghost that whole time. He went on to kill her aunt in front of her, and run rampant across the mining town.

That was when a Knight of the Moon intervened. Three days later, Ricard Hargon stormed into the town and slew the demon. During his subsequent investigation, he determined that Aubrey had been the demon's summoner; instead of persecuting her, he adopted her, covering up the incident with his considerable amount of influence. Besides, who would believe that a little girl was strong enough to summon a demon anyway?

Seeing that she had nowhere to go and knowledgeable of her prowess, Ricard Hargon adopted Aubrey. Aubrey spent the next few years under Ricard's tutelage, receiving his knowledge and financial resources. Eventually she grew to a level where he could teach her no more, and so he sent her to one of Serendipity's premier academies.

While in university, she met a man named Antilles. They fell in love, each one attracted to the other's intelligence. However, they ended up breaking up, Aubrey telling him that she'd found another; in reality, it was because Aubrey didn't believe that she deserved to be happy. A few years later, she learned that he had been enlisted in the Order of the Moon, and had died while on a mission.

Aubrey graduated from college, and went on to become the youngest ever Knight of the Moon.

Hi there! Gligar here, returning RPer. Big fan.

So far, my only characters are Roland Durandred and Aubrey Hargon, though that's sure to change over time.

Roland is a wandering "wizard" that delights in grabbing people's attention with sleight-of-hand and alchemy tricks. Using the alias "Livritas the Luminous," he wanders the earth in search of riches and renown.

Aubrey is a Knight of the Moon dedicated to destroying evil wherever she goes. I don't have much else of her personality planned out yet, so I'd love to RP with peeps to find out what she's like!

#17
Sleeves were stacked.

Potions in the satchel.

Mask was on.

"It's time," Roland said to himself. Crouched behind a tree a ways off, the fake mage was about to rip Ilragorn a new one. The morning chill still hadn't dissipated, and fog still hung heavily around the village's perimeter. Concealment was a charlatan's best friend.

Roland – or, rather, Livritas the Luminous – stepped out from behind the tree, leaning on his cane to create the illusion of frailty. Villagers, already starting to work despite the morning fog, stopped and stared at the wizard walking amidst them. Roland gave as genial a smile as he could to a lumberjack, who returned it with a nod. Then the wizard cleared his throat.

"Lo, citizens of Ilragorn. LIVRITAS THE LUMINOUS is here!" he shouted, raising his arms in a dramatic gesture. "The wandering wizard, here to work great wonders amongst you!" At this speech, some villagers raised their heads, briefly acknowledging the wizard's presence before returning to their businesses.

Irritated, Livritas flung out his hands. From under each of his sleeves, a smokestick jumped out just slightly out of eyesight. As quickly as he could, he snapped his fingers, creating a small spark at their tips – the smokesticks caught fire, then disappeared back. Rainbow-colored smoke began to billow from underneath his sleeves – another snap of his fingers and it caught fire, creating a blaze that surged upwards without so much as searing his robe.

That caught people's attention.

Livritas smiled. "Now tell me, villagers," he shouted once again, "what can I do for you?"
