Physical Description:
A sinewy man with light skin, brown eyes, black hair, and more than a few small scars, Kalubiar's physique has narrowly evaded death at the hands of Mordecai agents and rival thieves more than twice. In the field, Kalubiar wears black, brown, and muted green-dyed leather armor with matching boots, gloves, and a dark hood drawn over his head.

Personality: Working a combination of solo and two-person jobs, Kalubiar's contacts note his dry humor and short sentences interspersed by long periods of silence while looting artifacts from both ruins as well as occupied houses. Behind his aloof exterior, his heart burns with ambition, yearning to find that one run that could finally enable him to finish his magical studies and permanently settle elsewhere in Serendipity.

Magic/Abilities
  • Crossbow Proficiency – Kalubiar mastered the use of crossbows and arbalests during his conscript training in Highheart. The man prefers to use a specific crossbow he stole on the night of his desertion when he tore off his insignia and fled southeast into Serendipity.
  • Bolt Enchantments – Having completed only four years of part-time magical education on top of scrambling to learn written Common, Kalubiar prioritized learning enchantments and other basic charms first where he might be able to complement his martial skills. Consequently, Kalubiar's favorite tactics include the use of fireburst and stunbolt charms where enchanted crossbow bolts explode on impact or stun his targets.
  • Stealth & Larceny – When Kalubiar arrived in Serendipity, his Connlaothian accent and lack of trade skills barred him from most jobs in Featherfall save for farm work. Between settling in a refugee camp as a non-magical deserter amongst vengeful mages, surviving homelessness while working for a pitiful sum, or turning to property crime, Kalubiar chose the latter option. His first few burglary runs came dangerously close to his arrest and probable deportation, events that– thankfully– never happened. In the eight years since, Kalubiar's observation, infiltration, and extraction techniques have managed to keep him out of jail and the deathly remains piles of many adventurers gone missing. He has, of course, become remarkably agile and observant with regards to trap discovery and evasion.

Relationships:

Kalubiar's mother worked as a seamstress while his father worked as a blacksmith in their son's youth. At the onset of the Connlaothian Civil War, Kalubiar's father was drafted into the noble's march to fight the rebels while Kalubiar himself was ordered to garrison his home village. His father's whereabouts remain unknown, and contact with his mother is extremely limited owing to the possibility of her execution should someone discover the woman communicating with a known fugitive.

Despite his status, Kalubiar aspires to reunite with his parents one day and to sneak them south across the border.

Zilmiel,

We have yet another casualty left for dead in a bandit raid. She is stable for now, but our healers uncovered a swamp parasitoid infestation within her. We need fourteen units of potent parasite removal brews applied over two weeks to permanently cure her. We need the potions received in less than two weeks, or our patient will surely perish from her infestation.

Thank you.

Three days passed after the homing eagle dropped the letter outside an unassuming La'marri apothecary, and its proprietor's wings cut through the crisp valley air several dozen kilometers inside Connlaothian airspace. The infestation cure required particular fungi found only inside the depths of undisturbed caves and ruins, a prospect where Zilmiel knew of only one location bearing more than traces of the fungus. Clear weather limited his flights to the evening, however, and a brilliant full moon last night forced Zilmiel to meander high above Connlaoth's southwestern border to avoid an unwanted crossbow bolt embedding itself in his wings...

The half-dragon's gut rumbled for the fifth time that evening. Zilmiel's foray into an abandoned riverside fort brought him enough fungal extract for twenty plus antiparasitic potions, but a passing caravan forced him to hide inside the ruins for six more hours; the caravan had chosen to set up a rest stop right along the river's edge. Evening fell by the time the interlopers abandoned their campsite, freeing Zilmiel from his spot right as the half-elf began familiarizing himself with the space more closely. A shame it had to be built right besides a highway adjacent to the river, really: Some unfamiliar currency found its coins jostling near the bottom of the leather rucksack tied to Zilmiel's wrists, ready to join his growing hoard back home.

The mountains loomed ahead just before relative safety within Serendipity's borders could be reached, yet he could not ignore the gnawing pain in his stomach any longer. Recovering that fungus plus some souvenirs and hauling such a non-aerodynamic bag with his hands for so long, and then going on an empty stomach- No. He needed to eat something now, like, a whole deer or maybe some fish. With the forest's trees growing squatter and sparser, the savory smells of great and lesser creatures reaching Zilmiel's nostrils diminished: He needed to land soon.

Smooth shiny scales and healthy, frosty horns give this tall half-dragon a striking if somewhat terrifying aura. Zilmiel's wingspan is average for a half-dragon of his size while his tail is equally proportioned, assisting with balance as well as providing an impromptu option for melee combat. Piercing blue eyes with catlike pupils give Zilmiel excellent low-light vision. Then there are the claws and horns themselves, ready to rip apart or otherwise discourage physical attacks from hostiles.

Draconic features aside, Zilmiel's elven cheekbones and lean build have not been totally erased by his condition, a reminder that he is as much of an elf as he is a dragon. He still has some of his black hair, all brushed backwards and carefully around his horns. Finally, sharp as they are, Zilmiel's digits remain intact and ready to scoop up and drop potion ingredients inside their vessels.

Personality: On first contact, Zilmiel's gruff and direct manner might be off-putting. However, Zilmiel's unrelenting drive to find cure ingredients as well as his dedication to his own apprentices show a warm heart hidden beneath his icy exterior. Finally, when he returns from his frequent trips into abandoned ruins in search of rare plant and fungal ingredients, he might bring back mysterious bags of coins, some battered armor from a bygone era, or something unique... At any rate, the elven and draconic of Zilmiel's brain battle for dominance, meaning Zilmiel tries to avoid particularly wealthy areas lest he gives in and walks out with more than he had intended to take.

Magic/Abilities:
  • Potion Brewing - Decades ago before his involuntary transformation, Zilmiel apprenticed as an alchemist and apothecarist. His potionmaking abilities are exceptional, earning him a lauded reputation amongst his circle for producing potent healing potions and niche cures.
  • Elemental Combat Magic - While Zilmiel's frost dragon status leaves him much less capable of casting fire magic, his water and ice spellcasting are significantly stronger and less taxing on his psyche, and the remaining elements are neither harmed nor helped by his condition. Plus, Zilmiel's frost breath attack makes for a convenient means of freezing smaller opponents solid, or at least inflicting severe frostbite upon hostiles.
  • Mundane Physical Combat - Those claws sure can rip open a humanoid in two, Zilmiel's muscular tail is capable of knocking opponents off their feet, and his sharp bite can leave a permanent reminder to never, ever steal from his hoard, attack his comrades, or to touch him without his consent.

Relationships: Zilmiel once enjoyed the company of his elf parents. Their support became committed to helping Zilmiel cope with the aftermath of the dragon attack that left him permanently changed, allowing him to recover and start earning a living that finally allowed him to open his own shop west of Serendipity in La'marri. However, old age caught up to his parents who died two and four years after Zilmiel's 70th birthday.

Zilmiel currently lives alone. He has hired a shop assistant to work front of house duties and to handle some basic potionmaking while Zilmiel is away from his shop looking for ingredients.

Wants and Limits / PVersusNP's Wants and Limits

PLAYER WANTS

What are your favorite kinds of plots and relationships to play?
A group of adventurers working towards a goal or collecting treasure, a mentor helping out a student of theirs, or some mysterious figure luring out a character to some ruins are some of the examples of roleplays I've enjoyed.

What are your least favorite kinds of plots and relationships to play? I do not particularly enjoy damsel-in-distress rescues or other overly-cliched tropes. I like seeing strong female/enby characters taking on a challenge!

What are your favorite character types to play?
I prefer to play as mages, alchemists, and/or college-equivalent students above the age of 18

Are you a planner or a pantser? Do you prefer to pre-plan and stick to a script when posting, or do you prefer to surprise and be surprised?
I like pre-planning high level goals and outcomes, but I very much prefer leaving details to the actual scene for maximum flexibility.

How do you feel about group threads?
I'm willing to collaborate with up to four other people. Maybe five or six if we are confident in our schedules.

How often can you reply to any given thread? How long should a partner wait before nudging you for a post? Multiple times per day on the weekends. At least once a day during the workweek.

What is the longest you're willing to wait for a reply to a thread?
Let's say three to five days if I'm roleplaying with one other person. One to two days for a group roleplay.

How do you feel about instant messenger RP?
I'm open to it, although I might want to compile all lines into a post later.

Ho do you feel about post volleying/rapidfire RP?
I have not done it in a while. I'm guessing I might appreciate it in bursts during combat, but I don't know.

What's your preferred posting style? Long posts? Short posts? Anything and everything?
I usually write one to three paragraphs or so. I try to leave enough details for someone to be able to make sense of the environment as well as my character's mental state.

Any RP styles/habits that you love?
I do not know.

Any RP styles/habits that you avoid?
I do not know.

PLAYER LIMITS

What are you limits regarding powerplay/godmoding?
It must be agreed upon via PM or such before the post.

What are your limits in regards to romantic situations?
(What are you comfortable with and not comfortable with? Do you prefer to pre-plot relationships or let them happen organically? Are you open to IC-rejection or love-triangles? Age differences? Etc.)
I prefer to allow relationships organically. IC-rejection is 100% okay! I do not have enough experience roleplaying love-triangles to know how I'd handle them, so collaborator beware. Age differences are okay, but that doesn't mean my characters have to ICily agree to them. :)

What are your limits with regards to graphic content such as sex, violence, drug use, sexual assault, etc? What is your comfort level?
Sex, nudity, and drug use are fine. I'm not terribly interested in reading SA fiction, though, but I won't prohibit it.

What are your limits in regards to pregnancy within plots?
(Are you okay with pregnancy in plots? Miscarriages? Loss?)
Mutual consent beforehand via DM, and we're fine.

What about healing? Healing is fine. However, I want my half-dragon/vampires/werewolves to remain such. Gotta learn to live with those wings, claws, and fangs.

What about characters being transformed against their will? I am totally down for having my human and elven characters transformed as long as we agree ahead of time to do so. :)

Anything else?
Descriptions and depictions of nudity are fine for me. I'm more bothered about the lack of realism in some cases than I am reading about them. :P
