It had been nearly a month since Nevayah had went on her trading missions and Lanister was miserable... just miserable... Without his sweet, beautiful wife, poor Lanister had to juggle his family, his job and everything that came with it on his own, let alone the loneliness he felt every day alone in his bed, the lack of her smiling face when he woke up each morning... The comforting feeling of her presence was gone and he had to cope for a MONTH! Somehow, though, he managed to get by each agonizing day with a smile on his face, though the majority of those were for the benefit of others. Without Nev around, Lanister had to work less, spending more time with the kids than at the bar and it wasn't like he disliked spending time with his children... He loved them as much as he loved Nevayah, but he also missed the satisfaction he got from serving the town, from dispensing alcohol and a full-days work... He missed Nevayah gracing his bar every once in a while in a surprise visit that always made him smile...
Well.. Today was much like those other agonizing days but now, it was agony for a different reason. Nevayah would be home soon by his calculations and he simply couldn't wait! He was going to kiss her so hard... love more than he ever had... He felt like a giddy child waiting for their birthday...As usual, Lanister made sure his two darling twins were fed, dressed, and ready for their day before heading off to his work, smiling wider than he had in... well... a month. As he tended bar, he did so with vigor he seemed to lack in recent days, serving with a genuine enthusiasm and pride that made his customers love him a tad more than usual. He was so happy about his wife returning that he failed to anticipate what exactly the letter that had JUST been delivered to him mid-job might say...
Well... needless to say the moment he started reading, his mood dropped like an anvil, shattering his enthusiasm under it's weight like cheap glass. Lanister was silent for some time after that, still tending bar with excellence, but lacking the charm he normally had on the job... more than this last month... He wasn't slow, but his movements dragged, his face was one of disappointment and sadness, he appeared as if something quite valuable had been stolen from him and in fact, something was... his wife...
He sighed as everyone went about their business, forcing his sorrow down through gritted teeth as he picked up a dirty glass and began wiping it clean with a napkin, almost seeing Nevayah's reflection in the glass...
