· Physical Description ·Niusha is a short, or short for a starstrider, elf that is quite toned in a slender form. She grew up in the frozen plains above the Kilanthro mountains and that sort of hardiness translates well in her pearlescent limbs and faintly muscled body. Though she hasn't been home in some months, she hasn't lost that definition. While it's usually hidden under layers of thin leathers, furs, or cloth, there's a wry strength to Niusha that she's not always aware of.
Born under Procyon, her skin has the shimmer of freshly fallen snow in bright sunlight and her eyes have a pale lavender sclera with sea blue irises and snow white pupils. Her hair, when down and out of the loose braid, reaches almost to her ankles. It's a silky fall of white around her that she takes great pride in. Niusha frequently braids it in the morning if she knows she'll be traveling or doing busy work, otherwise, it's clasped in a small pin at the base of her neck and left to go where it may. All of it is roughly that long length, so she doesn't have anything by way of bangs or short, stray wisps to get in her eyes. When her hair is a mess,
it's a mess and a minor catastrophe for her.
She smiles easily, her sweet voice rings like she's always faintly singing and is easy on the ears, and her sharp teeth fit her small mouth. Niusha does enjoy singing, especially songs of other races and in languages she's learning, abut she's not always the best. What she lacks in talent or accuracy, she frequently makes up for in enthusiasm and a willingness to laugh at herself and her own mistakes.
There isn't a lot that gets her down and she's frequently looking at the world with a 'glass half full' way. Not naïve, but willing to hope for the best and plan for the worst.
Her family breeds
izotz katua. A breed of large, leopard-like snow cats native to the area that are treasured hunting companions, family protectors, guard animals, and occasionally bought for their very soft, warm, beautiful pelts. The cats are very family orientated so Niusha travels with her own,
Thaljia.
· Thaljia ·Appearing very much like a snow leopard, Izotz Katua are simply a larger, smarter, and social variety where Niusha and her family have made their home. They usually have distinctive spotted patterning that, for one that has raised them, will make it easy to tell one Izotz Katua apart from another. From the time they are small, mewling kittens they are handled by 'breeders' to become part of the family raising them – to be properly socialized in the family and accept the family as part of the
jauzi – the cat family.
As they grow, the Izotz are taught commands, how to hunt, and how to behave. Some are sold to other families – and if this is done, it's when the Izotz are rather young – or they are used to hunt down larger game out in the frozen plains.
They can be taught to wear a harness, muzzle, and leash, usually to be taken into public and not cause a fuss, but it's only necessary for the young ones that are learning. Those properly trained will only act out in public if their
jauzi is threatened, much like a protective and trained dog might.
· Personality ·Niusha is rather sweet, usually, and takes life as a 'most people mean well, and mistakes are usually made out of stupidity, not malice' mindset. Unless someone tips their hand and reveals themselves to be particularly mean spirited, she can be quick to forgive so long as someone seems earnest in their desire to make amends. Humble in her opinion of how much she knows in the world, she does not expect everyone to be perfect or behave perfectly – but she does expect people to try.
She certainly does. At base, Niusha is a good elf and curious about the world at large. Growing up in a warm home, a loving family, and having a simple, but fulfilling childhood, it doesn't take a lot of fancy things to make her happy. She's impressed with acts of strength, skill, and displays of knowledge that extend beyond her own – not things that glitter and have no intrinsic value beyond what someone else might decide it's worth. She craves experiences and wants to learn about the world, with a particular fascination with languages and other culture's curiosities, even when she probably shouldn't.
The world is finite and so is the life in it. She would like to enjoy her slice of it while she can – and intends to do so to her fullest.
Having grown up in a household where her opo and bibi were both present and active in her life, she looks forward to the day she meets her Resonance, but she's not
rushed about it. Rather than be anxious, she looks at it as
she'll find them when she finds them. She also has 2 other siblings that she's both close with, and loves dearly. If any of them were, for any reason, to call on her she would drop everything to go to them.
· Magic / Abilities ·Izotz Katua Trainer : She's grown up in a household that breeds giant snow leopards, and she has one that's rather loyal and devoted to her.
Well Read : If this is an ability? Niusha is curious and well read, eager to pick up just about any book and work her way through it. She wants to learn it all and she's started picking up a couple of languages as she's going.
· Relationships ·Thaljia : Her Izotz she raised from a kitten. :3
Bayani : Her bibi, House Archernar. Bayani frets over all of his babes and certainly mother hens them – which has endeared him to them at times, and makes him overbearing at others. Regardless, there's still real love between Niusha and her bibi. He also does most of the main breeding and care for the Izotz Katua for the family.
Tirtzah : Her opo, House Phaeton. Tirtzah is the main trainer of the Izotz Katua and hunter across the frozen plains. Treats hides, butchers meat, occasionally sells things at nearby towns and villages. He might be far more strict than Bayani, but it all stems from a desire that his children grow strong, independent, and capable of not only taking care of themselves, but handling whatever the world throws at them.
Theun : Oldest sibling, House Antares. Theun still lives with his parents and helps with hunting, raising of the Izotz Katua, and all of that. Feels a large sense of purpose doing so and hasn't felt a need or desire to leave. He's a bit more reserved and protective of his family ( read : racist ) and doesn't want much to do with others – so he doesn't understand Niusha's desire to go out and about.
Indra : Youngest sibling, House Archernar. Indra is not yet an adult and subject to Bayani's fretting. She's learning a lot of the family's trade – hunting, breeding, and trading. Far more reserved than the rest in her family, she's still coming into her own. Niusha adores her little sister.
