Stature that he paid no mind too. Lucian kept himself steady and departed the tavern, venturing out in the somber darkness.  Breath came out in white cold puffs and the horse moved along uneasily at his side.

He bowed his head as they approached the village chapel, a quaint thing of stone and mortar, standing to an isolated end where a farmhouse had burnt down.  Lucian glanced at the dilapidated husk, wondering at the family that lived there, wondering if they perished in the blaze.

A fleeting thought as Lucian led the way into the chapel.  The pews were empty save for a few praying souls. And the priest there gave Lucian a wary look.  "What are you doing here?"

"To do God's work," Lucian answered simply.  "Do not interrupt." And gestured for Aven to follow in down the staircase behind the pulpit.

Aven follows him past the wreckage and into the chapel, nodding to the priest silently. He descended the stair behind Lucian, noting his surroundings. It was quite dark in this place, not what he would expect from a church. Then again, he hadn't been to many churches.
