Caprice was not particularly fond of of traveling within the more heavily populated areas.  It was not the constant stares that bothered her (most people have never seen a satyr, and the ones who had tended to have crazy ideas about them), but what really bothered her was having to wear clothes.  She covered herself with only a large green scarf that was wrapped loosely around her body, but even that felt uncomfortable and unnatural.  Ah well, the possibility of meeting new people and seeing new things was enough to off set these inconveniences.

She had made a special point of not venturing into the city limits until after dark.  Caprice was surprised to see that the city was very much alive after dark; she had mostly visited small towns where nearly everyone retreats to their home when the sun sets.  The nocturnal activity did not upset or alarm her, at least not at first.  Caprice suddenly felt tense and on edge when she noticed that the glances that came her way were not just of shock, but also threatening.  She tried to ignore them and went on exploring the outer edge of the city.

As Caprice  trotted past a rather unremarkable inn, a pleasant smell drifted toward her: rotting, likely fermenting, vegetables.  The smell reminded her that it had been hours since she last stopped to eat, so she quickly went around the back of the building to find the source of that tempting aroma.  Behind the building there was a large pile of kitchen waste and three feral cats that picking through it in hopes of finding a bit of fish or meat.  The cats ignored the satyr, until she knelt down beside the heap and began to root through it.
