Physical Description
Tai is, for lack of a better descriptor, beautiful. Of course growing up in maoin training, he knows how to use his appearance to his best benefit, but it isn't exactly a skill he employs frequently anymore. He has more of a dancer's build than a fighter's, but woe betide the enemy who mistakes this for weakness.

His eyes are a deep blue, almost black, that matches the raven black of his hair. He also bears a large tattoo on his upper torso, an almost abstract design of flowers and some curving lines that may be vines, or simply artistic whorls.

Personality
Charming, gentle, and polite, Taiyang is- and was, for much of his life- the perfect example of a well-trained maoin. Even into his mercenary life these traits of remained, which can be a little odd to those who employ him.

Though he will always defer to his training when dealing with people, when allowed to be himself Tai is simply quiet, introverted. He'd rather be by himself than with others- well, except for Ren, his constant companion.

Magic/Abilities
Taiyang has a strong elemental affinity for air, though it is unpracticed and occasionally unpredictable.

History
Sold to a maoin training House at the age of six, Tai led a rather ordinary life for someone in his position. He lived and trained with the other maoin, and they became his family, his brothers and sisters. He was always a gentle soul, and his quiet nature made him strangely desirable in his line of work, seen almost more as a beautiful piece of art than a working entertainer.

When given the opportunity, he greatly enjoyed escaping the bustle of the city to roam the forests just outside town. When he was sixteen he found a strange, wounded creature caught in a hunter's trap but evidently ignored by the hunter himself. Perytons were rare, after all, and admitting to killing one would not go over well in polite society. Tai freed the little fawn and brought him to a healer.

The baby peryton quickly imprinted on him and became his constant companion. Tai named the creature Ren, and for about a year or so split his time between his work as a maoin and raising the creature. Soon enough Ren was the size of a full-grown horse, and his albino coloration was incredibly eye-catching. Tai was able to use him as a mount, though he refused to let anyone else ride him.

When he was twenty, Tai's unfortunate magical gift decided to make a nuisance of itself. He had known from a young age that he was an air elementalist, but had always managed to keep the power safely under control, never used. But then there was an incident at the House: one of the younger girls, still in training, was being harassed by a foreign customer, and Taiyang attempted to step in.

The foreigner attacked him, and- completely caught off guard- his magic responded instinctively. The man was caught in a miniature whirlwind, all the breath sucked from his body. Despite Tai's desperate attempts to wrestle his power back under control, the man was dead in minutes.

Terrified of what he had done, and what the consequences would be, Tai took Ren and fled. He booked passage on the first boat leaving Thanatos and never looked back.
