Phen whistled as she walked along, fine flames dancing around her in a near-permanent but non-damaging aura. Her shift at the inn was due to start in a few hours, and she'd heard from one of the children in the village that the sparkberry bush was in fruit, so she had grabbed a basket and decided to go foraging. Sparkberries were a rare ingredient, and added a zingy taste to fruit pies, so Phen was always eager to get her hands on some, and what ever else she could find too. Already in her basket she had saltseed, which was good for preservation of meat, poppy seeds and elderflowers, and she wasn't anywhere near the bush yet! She might need to find a bigger basket from now on, since she saw ingredients everywhere.
It sometimes surprised people to learn that she was a chef, but once they ate something she had made they didn't question it. She looked pretty demonic because her bloodlines were such, but demon blood did not mean inherent evil. That was why she liked La'marri so much, nobody judged her for her looks here. Instead they admired her talent with food and accepted her training if their own talents revolved around fire. It was a much better life than hanging around waiting to be 'evil'. For her, any way.
