CH. I – Painting a Portrait
Bishop is quite a handsome man if a little scruffy around the edges.  His face is a broad light brown canvas, tanned from being in the outdoors, with smooth skin and nigh unstoppable five o’clock shadow.  His blue-green eyes, though deep in his head, have a gentle, unassuming shape to them.  They are slightly narrow and reside above low cheekbones.  His lips are medium-sized, with mouth proportioned to the rest of his face.  Wavy locks medium in length cover his head, straighter in the front and curlier in the back.

He is not a very tall man, nearly five feet nine inches at best, with a slender musculature, but a tight, lean physique.  He carries himself well, with straight shoulders and a straight back, almost soldier like and with a confident gait.  Bishop prefers to keep his hair pushed back, out of his face and out of the way.

+ NOTABLE MARKS +
Underneath his clothes, his back is scarred with many scrapes in cuts from having been tortured by a circle of criminals.  Though it was many years ago, he sometimes reacts sharply to anyone or anything standing behind him for prolonged periods of time.  He prefers to keep his back toward walls when in enclosed spaces and his face forward toward all he can see at any given moment.

+ PREFERRED CLOTHING +
He prefers to wear simple, unassuming clothing, often that of lower middle class or what a commoner might wear.  He often can be seen in a white, carefully mended shirt, with a crimson leather waistcoat over it and faded black trousers, with dark brown worn leather boots that go up mid-shin.  He also wears a small rope necklace with a miniature winged-horse pendant at the end of it, crafted out of wood.

CH II – Mental Make-up
Bishop has never been an overtly violent or aggressive man.  In fact,  he’d never believed in war, or killing, or death, and could find no respect for those that did.  He prefers to respond to situations with diplomacy over violence.  He’s a gentle soul, somewhat shy and soft-spoken.  At times, in conversation, he might be even a little awkward, but does his best to be sociable and calm.  He’s a gentleman without an agenda and ulterior motives and reacts to things best as they come, rather than thinking ahead.  Bishop remains secretive, however, as he finds he cannot trust strangers as easily as he might have in years earlier.

He has a humble heart and treats everyone he meets as equally as possible.  He’s always on his guard, however, can never allow himself to get to close or trust anyone completely.  He's doggedly determined to find the answers he seeks, and though he does not like violence, if pushed to the brink he will do what he must to survive.

+ FAITH +
He was once a very devout believer in Ansgar as a boy, and then he believed in a much broader sense of religion as he got older and his parents moved south toward Serendipity.  Now he finds it hard to believe in any religion at all, not when his life suddenly turned south and it seems trouble finds him at every turn.  Though he would not call himself an atheist, he is convinced the forces of fate and destiny have turned against him.

+ HABITS +
Though he’d never had any reason to do so in the past, Bishop has made a habit of being more and more careful and wary of strangers he encounters.  He drinks occasionally but cannot hold his liquor well so getting stone-cold drunk is not something he enjoys at all.  He does, however, smoke tobacco every so often, as a way to relax his nerves.  In addition, he also enjoys wood carving as a way to pass the time as well, creating little animals and game pieces in his spare time.

CH III – Social

+ RELATIONSHIPS +
"Helena Rhyas" aka The Scarlet Bird , wife, previously assumed to be deceased, location unknown

Lora, Daughter, deceased.

CH IV – Abilities / Skills

+ KNIFE FIGHTING +
Though Bishop would not exactly classify amongst the ranks of fighters and warriors, Bishop is not entirely unskilled in defending himself.   He was trained to hunt with a knife since he was a young boy and varyingly practiced the skill throughout his life, though he did not expect to ever need them in a life or death situation.  In addition, he is quite good at knife-throwing and once own his own set of throwing knives.

*Other than this, Bishop has no real combat skill or experience beyond what is necessary for his survival.  Previously he was a carpenter.

CH V – Gear / Equipment

Nothing more than the clothes on his back and what knives he can carry.

CH VI – Reflections of the Past

Bishop cannot place the precise turning point in his life.  Was it the moment he agreed to do that job?  Was it the day that his family was murdered?  He can never be quite sure of it.  Perhaps it was the moment he was found himself in the middle of a friend’s unpaid debt.  Or was it the moment he found himself plunged into a well of secrets that marked him as a wanted man?

The man formerly known as Maddox Rhyas, took up the name Bishop that was his nickname since childhood (after the first game piece wood carving he ever made), would rather not discuss his past with anyone.  He would rather not talk about the friend that dragged him into helping him repay his debt to Chagall, a leader in the criminal underworld, into doing a job that was doomed to fail.  It was supposed to have been a simple robbery, get in and get out.  But when Jaimes Kross, the son of nobleman Siegfried Kross, is brutally slain in the escape, Bishop and his family are captured and tortured by Chagall’s gang, though it is unknown as to why.

His wife and daughter were taken away from him.  Lora, his seven year old daughter was killed quickly as he begged for them to show her some mercy and his wife was later taken away to be burned alive.  He did not see them drag her away, but he heard her screams as they locked her in a burning room.  He was beaten within an inch of his life and left to die.  By some cruel trick of fate, he survives and attempts to pick up the pieces of his life.  He finds he is a wanted man with Kross’ murder put on his head as well as the deaths of his wife and child.

Bishop has now set himself on remaining hidden and looking for the answers that culminated to the events that destroyed his life.  He was shocked to find his wife alive, despite thinking her dead for so long.  How she survived or her agenda, both remain completely unknown to him. He half expected her to help him, instead he has found her only seeking to thwart his attempts on finding answers.

With enemies on all sides, he has no one to trust but himself.
