Draconian

Again, Jaiha didn't notice the discomfort and looked... Well. Pleased.  A chance out. An actual chance out. Provided this guy didn't turn into a raging crazy person, but even then, she had bigger teeth than him! Bigger claws!

A wide grin and she hugged her torso, her tail giving a pleased wave before she made sure to grab it and hold it steady. The chance of hurting someone was always just a little too high. "Good. I... I'll be a good slave to you. I promise. We could maybe even... be friends." She scratched at the blade, looking away briefly.

Then, the guards came. While Juras was armed to the teeth in blades, as were they. Metal chains and cuffs in hand. At first Jaiha shied away, her head going down and she gave a breathy sob before she stood up. The guards shackled her and gave Juras a dirty look before going to her tail, the chain from the collar around her neck attaching to it to keep her tail raised and out of the way.

If she tried to move it she would only end up hurting herself. A quiet breath and she was slowly ushered away. "I'll see you tomorrow?" The guards gave Juras a curious look but didn't stop their movement until finally, the gate was closed and she was taken back to her cell.

DaGlobster

Juras stayed quiet.

It wasn't that he found slavery despicable, he just found it... wasteful. It was a waste of lives, gold, effort, pretty much everything. And it was cruel, too. Juras liked to fight, yeah, but he didn't like killing, and he wasn't a sadist either.

He didn't want these guards to find him any more suspicious than he already looked, so rather than verbally answer Jaiha, he just gave her a wink.

Shortly after she was taken away, he laid back against the wall to think, and he waited patiently for his fight to start.

Draconian

A keen interest in Juras and his well being kept Jaiha's ears perked up and ready for information. Still, there was none and eventually she curled up and felt... Well. Bad. The day droned on. Then it was night and Jaiha slept the best she could, chained up like an animal.

Jaiha never felt like she slept enough. Always she woke up tired, achy, irritated. Luckily none of the guards had tried to visit her that night - it never ended well for them, but they still tried anyway.

Again, as usual, Jaiha was unshackled, giving a meager meal and taken to the ring. A rough shove and her toes dug into the dirt and she looked around, her tail giving a hesitant wag. Today she would lose her tail.

Or rot in the cell.

Jaiha never knew what her opponent was before the gate opened and she stood there, holding her breath praying to any of the gods in the sky that she hadn't been lied to.

DaGlobster

Juras went on to win his match that day with little to no trouble. It was one of those matches where disobedient slaves were sent to die against a gladiator of decidedly much higher caliber. Juras took his winnings, and spent the rest of the day at home, making sure he had enough money for the big purchase coming up.

--------

Jaiha wouldn't have to wait for much longer. The gate opposite of her remained closed for a few more seconds, so the crowd could get a good look at Jaiha, before the announcer introduced her opponent.

None other than The Longknife himself.

The gate opened, and Juras strode out, waving to the crowd and his slowly growing fanbase. He stopped, took a deep draft of the air, and knelt down, taking some of the arena's sand and rubbing a line of dust beneath both of his eyes.

He stood back up, and readied his scimitar, keeping his other hand free in case he needed to grab something.

A few more seconds so the audience could take in both combatants before they fought, before the announcer introduced the terms.

Combatants fight until they yield, best two out of three.

And then, the fight started. Juras started to stalk towards her, scimitar raised and ready to go.

Draconian

It was him.

Jaiha's heart began to race and she took calming breaths, closing her eyes briefly and shifting her stance. Maybe this would go far too well. Why was he wiping dirt on his face? A hesitant step closer and slowly she rose her tail up above head.

The blade poised towards him, bend over slightly.

Poised like a scorpion, her arms out, hands ready.

They needed to make this convincing. Jaiha didn't want to hurt him though, so, with reach and weight on her side, Jaiha made a dive for his middle, ready to pin him with a loud snarl to accent the movement.

DaGlobster

Juras' keen eyes followed every motion that Jaiha made. Every twitch of her tail, every slight curl her fingers made, none of it was missed.

So, when Jaiha went for the old midsection tackle maneuver, Juras was ready for it. He dipped to the side and used his free hand to shove her down to the ground using her own momentum.

All the while, he kept an eye out for any swings with that tail.

Draconian

That stung.

And it was humiliating.

The inhumane noise that left her mouth was involuntary but she gave her tail a swipe around, though not close enough to hit him. When Jaiha rolled away and onto her knees half her face was covered in dirt, her shirt was slowly coming loose and her tail was swinging along behind her in rhythmic hypnotic motions.

Then the tail went out, she had to make it look good and he was fast, she trusted he was smack it away or dodge. A quick stabbing motion with her tail from above to him and a snarl from her mouth.

Animals were so much easier to fight. They weren't nearly as slippery as this guy. Or as smart.

DaGlobster

As Jaiha stood up, Juras took the moment to take a step away and re-evaluate his stance, putting himself more on the defensive than offensive. It was a classic tactic: Wear your opponent out, and then strike.

However, Juras was nothing if not a master of switching things up, so when her tail came down on him, he ducked and rushed forwards, and while the quarters were too tight for a full swing, he still tried to land a blow to Jaiha's side with the blade's knuckle guard.

Draconian

Juras's hit knocked her in the side and she gave a pained moan, still, despite the hurt she made a fist and aimed for his face. Just one good hit in and then she could back off. Jaiha snarled, her teeth showing. Her ears up and perky.

Slowly she was coming around to it. The fights with animals were one thing. This was a whole new one. This was a challenge. Put on a show. Get her tail cut off.

DaGlobster

Juras tried to roll with the punch as much as he could, but Jaiha carried much more force behind her than the average human, and it still rocked him.

He backed away a few steps, already halfway through with regaining his bearings.

Draconian

The pain at her side had her breath hitching and she stood tall, giving her tail another wag. Anyone else, anything else and she would have given his middle a good swipe of her tail. That wasn't what this was for though and Jaiha simply crouched.

Her hand was out and again, she went in for the tackle, both arms out to grab his and hold him. If she could get a hold of him, she could ready her tail.

DaGlobster

Jaiha ran into him as she'd planned, and Juras went toppling to his back, dropping his scimitar on purpose so he could use his hands to defend himself.

Immediately, he threw a punch to Jaiha's exposed stomach.

Draconian

Damn not animals and having hands!

Jaiha snarled and snapped at him with her teeth, moving her hands to grab his wrists. Her things hurt and she just wanted this done with. Slices and scratches were familiar, not so much with the punches. He was pinned under her, her fangs were bared, her tail was hovering up behind her head, she was holding both his hands in hers.

"Just cut off my damn tail," She hissed at him, giving her tail a hesitant sway.

DaGlobster

Juras smiled.

"Sure thing."

He broke the grip on one of his hands, and he he reached for the short sword on his waist. He removed it from its sheath and struck in a wide arc in one fluid motion, aiming for the area with beads, just as Jaiha had mentioned the day before.

Draconian

When he moved the sword, she pressed her tail forward and then, besides their heads the beaded bladed end of her tail dropped. It took a moment for it to register but once it did she let out an ear piercing scream and pressed her forehead to Juras's chest, tears forming, her hands moving to grab at his shirt.

Jaiha's tail went lax and it bled freely onto the sand while she twitched and squeezed at Juras's shirt. Finally she rose her head, gave him a look and grabbed at her tail, holding it to her chest and tried not to cry. Unfortunately covering them both in blood.

DaGlobster

Juras was not expecting Jaiha to react the way she did, and when she straightened up and held her bleeding tail, he pushed her off.

"Yield!" He yelled boisterously as he drew his longsword from his back.

"You need to yield," he whispered.

Draconian

Shedding her tail and having it sliced off were two very different experiences, after she was pushed off she clutched at her bleeding tail and curled around if protectively. "I yield!" She screamed at him, hands wet with blood.

How could she stop the blood? Her slippery hands kept losing grip on the tail, "I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do!" This was a terrible idea, why had she thought this would be a good idea?! Jaiha looked to the bladed end. The beads. That was her tail. Those were her beads. It wasn't until the crowed was roaring for more bloodshed that she went lax and pale, trembling where she sat.

DaGlobster

With Jaiha's yield, the match was over almost as quickly as it had started. Overall, it hadn't been a bad battle, just sort of... average. No doubt the fight organizer was squirming in his booth, having been robbed of his opening attraction.

Juras was declared the victor, and they were seperated. Men came in to take Jaiha to the colosseum's doctor, and Juras left through the opposite gate to receive his winnings.

He planned to visit Jaiha in the infirmary the instant he got paid.

Draconian

Jaiha was an inconsolable mess.  The doctor had to have guards pry her away from her tail, sedated her with a mix of herbs so she stopped struggling.By the time she was awake, her head was pounding, her tail hurt and she was a whimpering mess. Her bloodied clothing had been removed and she laid on her stomach.  A hesitant look around had her realize she was alone in the room, one far cleaner and brighter than her usual holdings.

A deep breath and she moved her tail, it ached and she winced, pulling it up close to her face. The end had been wrapped up and she looked at it. "Terrible idea. Jaiha, why are you so stupid?" Tenderly she touched the unwrapped portion of her tail and sighed.

DaGlobster

Jaiha wasn't alone in the infirmary for long. Around ten minutes after she'd awoken, the doors opened, and Juras stepped in, looking around. He had a small cloth bag in his hands, and a new coin purse around his belt.

"Jaiha?" He said, and approached her bed.
