A sharp and loud whisteling resounded through the Draconi forest. Followed by the sound of silver smacking against wood. Chips and tatches exploding into various direction. Quicksilver slowly lowered her enourmous crossbow with a huff, standing up from her kneeling position. A serpent. A lamia that had been hiding out in the woods. She was tasked with killing it. Even if the pay wasn't as good as now, 10 gold coins, that's a lot. She would've done it for free.

She loved hunting these creatures.

Shouldering the enormous crossbow, Quicksilver walked over to the Lamia she had hunted down, weakly hissing, tail rattling weakly. Her lips twitched up in a soft smirk. She was still alive. That just made it even better. She slid a knife from her belt, and with soft humming, went to collect the teeth of the Lamia. As if it was the most natural thing. Enjoying the weak and pained whimpers she got as she carved the fangs out.

There was demon hunting and there was monster hunting. Some could argue the line between the two was pretty slim, probably subjective, and possibly even entirely non-existent, but Joss Landon liked to think that he kept a pretty firm grasp of what his real prey tended to be.

He, and all his family, were demon hunters. Sure, some monsters were bad, but some weren't entirely nonredeemable.

It was why Joss often ignored monsters and those that asked for him to hunt and kill them. Unless said monster was actually being a problem and obvious threat to humans. Then all bets were off and he could take a little time out of his demon-hunting for some good old-fashioned beast killing. Life would get boring if he didn't get the occasional change of pace.

Lamia and naga were pretty straight-up monsters to him. They weren't like werewolves or even some vampires - poor saps that had been human once upon a time and could sometimes still be pretty human-like in their lifestyle. No, these things weren't really human at all and never had been.

Joss had been trailing a particularly nasty demon for days, studying his prey, trying to close in on the cursed thing before going in for the kill when the demon least expected an attack to come. Stumbling onto some poor fools with a snake problem had been entirely unintentional. Just a case of blind luck. Whether that was good or bad luck remained to be seen.

As he heard the pained sounds of something, he was leaning towards it being bad luck. Just in case things got ugly, Joss pressed his thumb against the sharp edge of his book and felt a few drops of blood well up. A dark, wicked-looking scimitar appeared in his hand as he approached the sounds that had put him on edge. The demon hunter was being very cautious, as he didn't want to end up with any sharp things sticking out of him today. Including Lamia fangs.

Quicksilver arched an eyebrow as she looked up at the Lamia, "you sure do bleed a lot without dying." She said with quite the admiration. A loud crack resounded, followed by a faint but pained cry. "Oops. That one broke~" She sang, followed by a soft giggle. Sure, she could put the lamia out of her misery right then and there and collect her teeth after death.

But where was the fun in that? She just loved the sounds this lamia made for her. It wasn't torturing, no. No. Torturing served a purpose. This was just all in good fun.

She heard a crack. A snapped twig. Immediatly, she rolled backwards and pulled the enormous crossbow up, a huge silver bolt loaded in the weapon, the tip pointed at where the crack came from. "Whoever you are, I'm cleaning pests right now. You're interrupting a very special moment here."
