Andrew felt some irritation rise, but his posture betrayed none of that. He could not let stress influence him too much.
"I know what is and isn't legal, Akbar, thank you. You boobytrap your shop and you've likely determined your own cause of death," he said, in a matter-of-fact way of speaking. He looked around quickly, scanning the streets for any suspicious activity.
Kevan's mental state of being had been used against him and Andrew doubted these people would be above doing the same thing twice. Akbar didn't come across as the most stable individual, so him ending up as the victim of his own boobytraps probably wasn't that much of a stretch, as far as Andrew was concerned.
He had no idea how well the man would be able to defend himself from that, of course, but at the same time he didn't feel like waiting to find out. Maybe Akbar could keep them at bay with hid boobytraps, maybe it would backfire spectacularly. Not something he felt like gambling with.
These guys were resourceful and Andrew wanted to be ahead of them, if at all possible.
Akbar's last words came across as somewhat condescending, but Andrew didn't bite.
"I currently have no home, my most important research has been stolen and they know exactly how much I know about them, removing a significant advantage," he pointed out, sounding a lot more neutral than he felt. "I'm not asking for pity, but I do ask you to understand what that means. Right now my plan is damage control. Not having any more people die. That is the main reason I'm here."
If you could even call that a plan...
"People involved need to know what to look out for. Once that is done I'm going to find a place to continue my research."
And then what? A little voice in the back of Andrew's head made him well aware that these guys getting sloppy with a target of theirs was probably the only thing that would properly expose them, and he wasn't sure he could ever go that far.
