Rhigor clicked his tongue against a bared fang; a sign of general annoyance more than anything. His face hovered over spilled entrails, his singular eye flicking to and fro. Twisting and knotted pink and purple viscera shone with a deep red against the noonday sun. He was jotting the specific shapes and seemingly random patterns into a book, which rested on his level thigh as he knelt.

Removing a glove, he exposed his hand to the sunlight. He sucked air through his teeth at the sudden onslaught of searing pain, but took a moment to slow his breathing. He wasn't dying, even if it felt like he was. Slowly he pressed his palm into the bloodsoaked dirt, digging his fingers into the earth as he focused. Nine hours ago. The attack had occurred before the sun rose. It was optimistic to think it could have been a vampire... probably just another wild animal. Pity he got here too late, though. Perhaps he could've turned this one. Then again, with innards splattered all across the road he figured there wouldn't have been much to turn anyway.

Raising his hand from the dirt to his nose, he inhaled softly. He couldn't resist. The residual fear and anguish that clung to the grass like dew was enough to sustain him, but he did crave the warm lifeblood of humanoids again.

Donne would be dissappointed.

Snapping out of his trance, he quickly wiped his hand clean on his gambeson, sliding the glove back over it. Rising to his full height, he studied the sketch in his book against the carnage before him. All signs pointed deeper into the Draconi Forest. Fine. He would oblige the invitation. Soon he was through the threshold, losing himself within the thick foliage and dark shade of the canopy. Either way, a hunt was on.
