A young girl, looking to be anywhere from eight to ten years old walked down the streets of Adela's bazzar. Her small hands held clasped behind her and a look of wonderment in her emerald eyes. She wore a robe of purple, made of a light material, belted around the middle by a belt of a softer hue that also held a rolled up parchment and a feather quill. The robe also bore two holes that looked to have been made by puncture wounds each about 2 and half inches in diameter, one on her right forearm and the other in the area of her right thigh. Both were ringed with dryed blood, but the girl didn't act or walk like she was wounded in any way. In fact, she looked about as whole and healthy as she could be. Two hoops of gold hung from her ears and both of her arms bore many golden bracelets. Her shoes were also golden, and curled upwards much like those of a stereotypical elves. Her hair was held in a high ponytail, floated down to her knees and was the color of caramel candy.

Behind the girl was a dark form that wore the shape of a man. But substance wise it looked like her very shadow had lifted itself up and followed her about. This apparation didn't take much notice of anything, just followed the girl around quite closely.

Nall didn't seem too concerned about the shadow creature following her either. She just walked along like it was a common occurance, stopping everyonce in a while to look a jeweler's stand or at tailor's selection.

A demon watched the child as she milled to and fro throughout the marketplace. This demon stood on the left side of the bazaar, leaning non-chalantly against the eastern most pole of a fruit stand. Two guards passed by but, didn't take any note of the demon who took a second out of watching Nall to smirk at the fact that he could stand in their viewing radius and not be noticed. One would think that would be a common occurance for an incubus but, Satanachia always got a rush out it.

One could say that many incubi wore the faces of angels but, this Satanachia was only missing the wings. He was slender, not too tall and not too short, and wore a white coat that came to his knees over similarly white pants and white boots. His cheekbones were high and lips slightly puckered and tinted a very discreet red. His blonde hair swept down to his hips and was held at the nape of his neck with a black ribbon, his fringe constantly falling into eyes that were a startling shade of blue, a color not often found in the depths of hell.

Widening his smirk into what looked on the outside like a pleasant smile he left the stand and strode over to the girl. Ignoring the shadow being, he placed a hand on her head. "Now who would let such a precious darling go out on her own?"

Nall looked upwards when she felt the hand perch on her head and grinned widely, her eyes sparkling happily.

The shadow watched. This person didn't look like a threat, it's orders were to fight anything that tried to harm Nall and so far this newcomer wasn't harming her.

The little girl reached for the paper and quill at her belt and hastily wrote on it. The quill slipping everyonce in a while since she didn't have a solid surface to bear down on. She wrote slowly, trying to make the letters legible, and held the note up to the stranger once she finished.

Hi, I'm looking for clothes, my friend Akso and my gaurdian Atam let me go.

Satanachia's eyes widened a little and his eyebrow perked when the girl began writing. That was...new. He took the note and glanced over it. Clothes, Akso, Atam, shopping, Hi, ok. He glanced momentarily back at the shadow, could that be Atam? No, she said that Akso and Atam let her go, so why would 'Atam' be following her. Some guardian, letting his charge wander without protection. He smirked.

"Well precious, today is your lucky day. I know these bazaars like the back of my hand," he lifted his hand, snagging his fingers in her ponytail.

Nall just smiled wider. She didn't really like the way this new person was playing with her hair but, he was going to help her find some new clothing! Akso and Atambrean would be happy if she got done so quickly that they wouldn't have to worry. She reached up, took the paper from his hands and began writing again, lifting her leg up a little to bear down on it. She almost falls over, puts her foot back down and rights herself, eyes glittering. She scribbles down the remainder of the note in the air, and once finished holds it back up to Satanachia.

Oh thank you! My name is Nall. What's yours?

Satanachia takes the paper and looks over it boredly. Seems the little one was a mute, that could prove interesting. A dark smirk tugged at the ends of his lips. Nall, how simple.

He knelt down before her, looking right into her eyes. "You're very welcome Nall darling. You can call me Rennick."

Nall grinned. There were so many nice people in this place. Well Akso's brother wasn't very nice but, Akso could take care of him if he tried to bother anyone. She puts her hands behind her and tilts her head to the side. Rennick still held her paper, and if she went to get it she might bump into him. There wasn't too much space between their faces but, it didn't bother Nall too much. Her grin widened a little and she tilted her head back up into it's proper place.

The shadow loomed closer behind Nall. 'Rennick' was a little too close for it's liking, if he was to try something it wanted to be in a good place to defend Nall.

Satanachia grinned, this was going too well. He handed the parchment back to the girl, reaching out with his other hand to ruffle her hair. "Shall we be going?"

Without waiting for an answer he gathered Nall into his arms and rose, shooting her shadow guardian an almost threatening look.

Nall smiled nervously as she was picked up but didn't dwell on her feelings of wariness long. She bobbed her head, eager to start her shopping trip.

The shadow backed up a bit when 'Rennick' shot it the questionable glare. It's danger senses all but exploded with warnings. Mentally, it sent a warning back to Atambrean.

Satanachia smiled back. "What is it you seek darling?" The incubus began walking, trying to put some distance between himself and Nall's little specter creature. It was a guardian, and of unknown strength. Perhaps it would lack in mental fortitude and not notice his retreat.

Akso's slender form landed with a soft thud directly in front of the man's path. Her arms were crossed over her chest, as usual, and she was glaring at the stranger holding Nall with amber speckled crimson eyes.

She was clad in a white trenchcoat that ran easily down to the ground, but was only buttoned to about her waist. On her legs were blood red pants, loose enough for fighting movements, but tight enough to to be cumbersome. Her feet were encased in black boots.

And she did not look very happy.

Both black feathered wings folded behind her and she blew a few strands of blue-tipped white hair from her face. She shifted sight from normal human to aura. Damn..he was a incubus? Just great...
"Nall, Atambrean's little shadow thingy led us here. It'd only do that if it thought you were in danger. Why don't you, ah, get out of the Incubus' arms now."
The Dark Angel continued to hold her position, not much flickering across her face or in her eyes.

Atambrean, a thin man in a black tunic and slacks with silver hair down to his shoulders and violet eyes, rounded a corner that lead him to his shadow. A spot just behind Satanachia and Nall. "Put her down," he ordered in a voice that barely veiled the threat in the command.

Nall smiled wider and waved at Akso when she landed. Though, the girl's face became very serious when she saw Akso's expression. The word incubus confused her, had she easy acess to her paper she would have written the question down. She looked from Satanachia, to Akso and back again.

Satanachia's icy eyes widened. He wasn't sure how the woman before him could sense what he was but it didn't look good. And now there was another person just behind him with that damned shadow! Seems Nall's Akso and Atam had come to rescue her.

Let them try. Satanachia smirked and chortled. He stepped sideways and began to run through the crowds of people, hoping to lose the two in the chaos.

"Sh!t," Atambrean so elegantly reflected on this situation. "Try to follow them," he ordered the shadow, who began to melt through the crowds after the racing demon. Atambrean sped after it, though he couldn't slip through the mob as easily as his servant could.

Nall's eyes widened when Satanachia began running. 'Rennick' wouldn't have started running if he was a good guy, if he was he would have just told Akso and Atambrean so. Now that that thought was processed she came to the conclusion that she didn't want to be in the incubus' arms. How to get down though...She could hit him. She and Akso hit Atambrean quite a bit, so hitting difficult people had to be good. Finding her options a little stymied by being held she reached up, grabbed onto a section of his hair and pulled as hard as she could.

Akso literally snarled, her form twisting and contorting on the spot. "All Right, thats it! You are so Fu...grrach!" Her face became fully wolf right at that moment and she didn't get to finish portraying her thoughts.

Whirling, the large white wolf dashed through the people, blue tipped back wings pressed close to her lithe frame. People screamed and scurried to get out of her path. She passed Atam and his shadow up in moments, using her snarling facade to force people aside.

Coming up on the incubus, she roared, not a nice sound to hear coming from a battle angel-turned-wolf.

It took every ounce of self restraint the incubus had not to curse foully when Nall yanked on his hair. Every nerve in his body going into a spasm when Akso roared, he took a quick look behind him, and saw the giant wolf, who could miss her?

Now desperate, he races towards an opening between two buildings hoping the narrow space would throw off wolf-Akso.

Unfortunately for the incubus the opening turned out to be the mouth of a dead end. His self restraint cracked. "God-dammit!" he hissed between breaths. He turned back around to face the opening of the alley.

Oh f*ck it he thinks this child's not worth getting killed for, besides there are twice as many that don't have such vigilant guardians. His latest thought caused a dark smirk to creep up his face, and he slumped to the ground, leaning against the wall and withdrawing his arms from around Nall.

Atambrean scowled, he was supposed to be Nall's guardian and he was now behind both his shadow minion and Akso. He began to shove people in his way out of it, to hell with them, Nall could be in danger.

Satanachia's sudden turn took the shadow by surprise. It flew ahead for several feet before getting it's bearings together and again racing after the demon.

Atambrean shifted his course soon after he saw the incubus move and began racing towards the alleyway.

Once 'Rennick''s hold over her loosened Nall stood and trotted a few steps away. The little girl then turned and watched him. He, he looked so, she couldn't describe it but it made her stomach twist into knots. 'Rennick' had been so nice? What was it that caused him to change like he did? It was all very confusing for her.

Unlike the shadow creature, Akso was not taken by surprise. She was fast and nimble, and swirved into the narrow alley gracefully.
Years of training will do that for ya.

Skidding to a stop, she snarled rather loud at SC, the mane of hairs on her shoulders and back standing on end.
"Nall, are you ok?" She asked, her eyes still locked on the man's slumped form. She would not let her guard down, not yet.

Atambrean made it to the alley faster than his shadow servant. He paused for a moment once he got there to slow his breathing.

Nall bobbed her head at Akso's question, but remained where she was. One eye on 'Rennick''s slumped form and the other on Akso. She threaded her hands together and held both down, twiddling her thumbs nervously.

Once his breathing was regular Atambrean strode forward. He stopped once he was between Nall and Satanachia, and glowered down at the demon.

Akso snapped inches from the demon's face, then growled to Atambrean. "Go ahead and take Nall away from here. I'll come soon." It was an order, not a request.

She knew better then to tear this man apart, as he hadn't really done anything wrong. "Any particular reason you felt the need to abduct Nall?" She hissed, her hackles still standing on end.

Satanachia just smirked, trying to keep the rest of his face coldly neutral. Even though deep down the incubus was gripped with terror, another emotion layered over it. Smugness.

"Not a clever one are you kitten?" He almost laughed at the irony of the pet name. It was pointless to state the obvious and call the woman turned wolf a bitch. Calling her a feline would more than likely get an amusing reaction.

In another situation Atambrean would have argued with Akso. Stating that since he was Nall's proper guardian that he should fight all the girl's battles. Common logic stated, however that keeping Nall around Satanachia wouldn't be a good thing for her. As Satanachia responded to Akso's interrogation Atambrean patted Nall's shoulder and gestured towards the enterance of the ally. If anything, he could accompany Nall through the bazaar to help her find some new clothing, something he should have done to begin with.

Nall silently followed her guardian, her eyes down on the ground. Once they were out of the alley she pulled at his robe and glanced upwards sheepishly.

"Hmmm?" Atambrean looked down at Nall and forced himself to smile.

Nall gestured slowly and glanced back up at him, nibbling at her bottom lip a bit.

Atambrean stopped, knelt and placed his hands gently on Nall's shoulders. "No, Nall you didn't do anything wrong."

Nall gestured again.

Atambrean patted her head. "Don't worry yourself about it," he said reassuringly, rising back to his feet and picking up Nall as he did so. "Cheer up, we'll go get you something new to wear, anything you want." Atambrean's smile became genuine.

Nall folded her arms on Atambrean's shoulder and rested her chin on them. She couldn't stop worrying about it, the whole situation confused the girl to no end. There was more to it and it looked like her guardian wasn't going to tell her about it.

The wolf's grin was slow and menacing. She let herself shift back to her normal form, both wings folded behind her. The first thing she did was summon her weapon.

The double-blade of light and dark.

Lightning of white and black crackled around her hands before materializing. On one end of the handle was a pure silver blade, untarnished by smudges or scratches. It was inlaid with whispy gold decorations that glimmered. The other side had a pure black blade that reflected nothing. It was inlaid with crimson, in a matching pattern to its twin blade. Akso held the handle that was in the middle of the two blades with only one hand. The other was on her hip.

"I'm only going to give you about five seconds, demon, to answer my question. Any longer," She twirled the twin-blade so fast it was only a blur. "And you'll be missing something. Probably that thick head of yours."

My, what a big sword she had. Satanachia gulped nervously, but crossed his eyes further. One thing was for certain, he had to get away from the sword weilding woman, the sooner the better. Now that 'Atam' had taken Nall out of the alley there was more space, a little bit of space. Space he might be able to use to his advantage. Or he could always try to scale the wall that trapped him.

Going out the way he came in was looking more and more dangerous by the second. Especially because of the swinging sword...

Taking a deep breath through his nostrils, he jumped to his feet and then onto the wall. The tips of his hands turning to claws that tore into the stonework as he scrambled upwards. Up, up and up the wall, which turned out to be the side of a building just behind the two that made up the alleyway. Sweat began to gather on his forehead as he climbed, he'd have to be quick, the woman had wings, and might have had enough space to employ them.

Luckily enough for SC, Akso couldn't quite open her rather large wing span in the narrow alley.
Unluckily enough for the demon, Akso didn't need to.

With one swift movement Akso launched herself straight into the air, above the scrambling incubus, and onto the roof of the building he was trying to scale. She easily turned and pointed the tip of the silver blade directly at his face.
Her timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Both amber speckled crimson orbs were cold and reflected nothing. "You know, i think you just about wasted all five of your seconds. Mind answering my question before you don't have a face anymore?" She smirked.

Satanachia smirked at the bladed edge now in front of his face. The only other possible way out was by trying to jump for another building, but then the same situation might be redone at another setting. Answering her question seemed the best possible course.

Any particular reason you felt the need to abduct Nall?

His smirk grew wider. "No one in particular, no good one at least." He loosened his claws a little, preparing to jump, just in case.

Eyes of a warrior helped.

"Ah-ha, so it was just an impulse then? Hmm," She pretended to actually ponder that. "I'd say you picked one hell of a little girl to try and abduct then demon. Especially since she has a Warrior Dark-angel as a guardian who happens to despise all demons."
She gave him a much too innocent grin, her blade never leaving its hovering place not inches from his face.

Satanachia snorted. "Dark angel eh? That's just a term used by fools in denial," he hissed, a dark smile tugged at the edges of his lips. "At heart, every demon is an angel."

The ends of his lips twisted up further and he daintly tapped the tip of Akso's blade with his tongue, ignoring the jolt of pain and the blood that began to flow. Now was as good a time as any to make an exit, he stole a quick glance downward. The building had to be at the least about twenty feet high. How did the old saying go? One broken bone for every ten feet. Two broken bones was looking quite nice compared to a violent death on the dark angel's sword.

He pulled his claws from the stone and let himself fall feet first. His landing was rough, to put it nicely. The bones in his left ankle rattled and snapped the force of the impact rattling the rest of his frame almost to the breaking point. His left leg from the hip down sung with alternating notes of soreness and pain. For now there would be no moving that limb.

"Son of a bitch."

 Akso saw it coming.

"Oh really? Well, you are an idiot then."

And then he jumped. She let him do so, stepping off and easily letting herself plummet just seconds after he did.

Dark Angels.
Light Angels.

Ah, there was a difference, she knew. Because she had once been a Light Angel, and now she wasn't. Her damnable 'brother' and his curse. Oh yes, there were many differences.

Just as he landed and cussed, Akso landed on him, black boots first. That blade of hers was pointed directly at his face yet again, and Akso was still grinning slightly as if nothing major had happened. "Well alright, answer me this. Have you ever met a Light Angel? A real one? Someone born in heaven to watch over earth and do all those nice Godly deeds? I was never like that." She danced the so very sharp tip of her sword in front of his face. "Because i was a Light Warrior Angel. I killed for a living. But i killed demons, and sinners that would not repent. Still God stuff. But now, i'm a Dark Angel. Still a warrior, but dark. You wanna know the difference?" She smirked and placed the tip of the blade against his forehead, barely pushing down. "I'm sadistic and merciless when angry, and terribly unpredictable."

Nall was oddly quiet, or rather lacking in questions and observances. While she usually wasn't much of a chatter-box the fact that she and Atambrean were looking for some new clothing to replace her torn robe, and she wasn't putting in any input struck an ill chord to her guardian.

"You alright Nall?"

Nall looked up at Atambrean and made one simple gesture.

Atambrean raised an eyebrow, "At least you're honest. What's wrong?"

Nall put her head back down on Atambrean's shoulder and made another simple gesture.

"It's my job to worry about you."

Nall poked her bottom lip out and repeated the gesture she did before adding another one on there for good measure.

"Fine, be that way. Can you at least be a little more enthusiactic towards this whole clothing business."

Nall pulled a strand of Atambrean's hair but, smiled a little as she did.

"Sor-ry."

Nall pulled harder.

"Ow, that's it I'm putting you down." Atambrean leaned down to set the girl on the ground but, she let go of his hair and clung to him tightly. "Get down Nall," Atambrean's voice had a very serious edge to it.

Nall shook her head side to side.

Atambrean made a noise that was half agitation and half defeat. "You gonna keep pulling my hair?"

Nall shook her head again, a bit faster than she had before.

Atambrean sighed, "All right, let's get this done with, got a big day tommorow."

Nall exhaled heavily, picked her head off Atambrean's shoulder and made a conscious effort to look around at the bazaar's offerings.

"Sounds like your atypical demon. Calling yourself a angel only makes you sound more and more pathetic. If you're a true dark angel why then are you fighting against those that would be your allies?"

His leg throbbed again and he tryed to keep the pain from showing up on his face.

She snorted and pushed the very sharp point of her blade into his forehead, drawing a bit of blood.
"Because,"
She began, her face calm.
"I do not want to be a Dark Angel. I want to be of the Light once again. And i believe you are stupid in believing Dark Angels are in any way demons like yourself. They may act demonic, and sometimes work with demons, but they are still Angels who work for no one, especially Lucifer. You could call them freelance, for they are no longer loyal to God, but they also have not 'Fallen' either."
She chuckled.
"But demons aren't exactly the smartest creatures at times and i wouldn't expect you to know all that in the first place. Now, seeing as Nall would hate me if i killed anyone, including you..."
Her sword whiped around and sunk into his right shoulder with the angelic side of the blade. White hot light blasted off the sword as it was plunged into demonic flesh.

Nall looked around boredly, she and Atambrean found a rather large shop selling clothing, and she really didn't see anything that interested her. Atambrean tried to suggest a few things, but to no avail. It was almost as if the girl was actively looking for something and wasn't finding it.

Atambrean sighed, he thought he knew enough about Nall to help her find something to her taste. Well, they had some time, she could take her time to look around. It still frustrated him though, it didn't seem like he could help Nall with anything. He sighed internally and crossed his arms, keeping a pace behind Nall as she walked around the store.

Nall's eyes widened and she trotted up to a display, quickly snatching a few articles from it and bouncing away before Atambrean could catch up to her. She went over to a section containing coats and other outerwear, poked around a bit, frowned, finally snatched a big white something and bounded back over to Atambrean.

Atambrean glanced down, Nall had a pile of cloth in her arms. He could make out the whiteness of the most recent snatch and thought he could see some red mixed into it. "Finished?" he grinned.

Nall bobbed her head up and down enthusiastically and smiled back, clutching the bundle tighter.

"Let's get 'em then," he started over towards the proprietors' stand, Nall following at his side. His grin widened once he got up there, and since his curiousity to what she'd chosen was eating him alive he produced a handful of gold coins and stacked them on the stand. "Keep the change," he winked at the man. "You got a room where she can change?"

The proprietor blinked, a little confused at the wink and pointed to a section closed off with curtains of fabric.

Nall didn't waste anytime rushing off towards the section.

The proprietor started counting the coins and looked warily at Atambrean, who leaned against his stand.

"So- run this place by yourself?"

The proprietor's eyes widened a bit at the sudden question and he almost dropped the coins. "My family owns the place," he said quickly.

Atambrean nodded and lifted one hand to inspect his nails, keeping one eye on the curtained area Nall ran into. "Pretty nice establishment."

The proprietor scowled a little, not really wanting to talk to Atambrean, so he ignored him and put the gold coins in a knapsack.

With a flourish Nall threw the curtain aside and walked out, her smile dominating her face. Atambrean raised an eyebrow. Oh Tliamat...she looked like she'd taken a page out of Akso's fashion book. One side of his lips perked up, it looked good, she'd need some new shoes though. "Nice, nice."

She had on a pair of brilliant red pants and a long white cape that covered whatever sort of shirt she'd picked out. She still wore the gold up turned shoes and her ears and wrists still glittered with the earrings and bracelets.

Akso wasn't really paying much attention to where she was flying, her wings lazily carrying her to wherever her subconcious wanted to go.

She suddenly found herself hovering above a settlment of shops, clothing shops to be exact. And she was looking down at someone who was dressed alot like her...
Nall???

Unable to keep the grin from her face, Akso landed and crossed her arms, both wings dissapearing. "Well, well, well, what have we here?" The dark angel mused, walking around Nall in a circle with both eyebrows raised. "Outfit needs a good pair of boots. Other then that, i think you look pretty damn good Nall, if i do say so myself." She chuckled, shaking her head.
Nall was way too cute.

Nall was all smiles, she twisted her old robe around in her hands and looked up at Akso.

Atambrean raised his other eyebrow when Akso flew in, talk about good timing. "You gonna cut your hair too Nall?"

Nall shook her head rapidly, put the robe over her shoulder and signed briefly.

Aaaw, Atambrean grinned. "Well you'll need a new ribbon, the purple one doesn't really fit. Hey," he thumped a hand on the counter, causing the proprietor to jump a little and scowl at him. "Got any ribbons here?"

The proprietor's scowl deepened, he pointed to a little stand with a bunch of whispy strips of cloth fluttering from the cord they were tied to.

"Thank you my good man," Atambrean plunked another coin on the counter and strode over to the stand. He untied a silky looking red one and carried it over to Nall.

Nall looked as though she would have smiled more at this point, but she was already smiling ear to ear, more smiling would have stretched her lips beyond her head. She took the ribbon, undid the one already in her hair, set it with her old robe across her shoulder and put her hair up with the red ribbon.

Atambrean crossed his arms and leaned against a stand. "Looks like we should find a cobbler now, to get her a pair of boots."

The grin on her face also got a bit wider and she shook her head. "The ribbon goes nicely with the outfit." She said with a nod, then turned to Atam, one eyebrow now arched at him.

"Didn't think you'd actually incourage her to look like me. What if she starts dumping buckets of cold water over your head in the morning too?" She sniggered, but managed a well-meaning grin.

Turning to Nall, she held out her hand. "Come on Nall, lets go find you some boots."

Nall eagerly bounced over to Akso and grabbed her hand.

Atambrean grinned again, hopefully his charge wouldn't start actiing like Akso, if she did Yaldabaoth help him!

Akso chuckled and began walking with Nall. "Well good. You're not as stupid as you look Atambrean."
A nice ending phrase to a conversation, if she did say so herself.
It was good for people to be worried about children acting like her. She admitted it full out. She was a very bad influence.
Hey, everyone had their flaws.

Strolling down the street, her sharp eyes scanned everything at least twice. Boots eh? Where the hell did you find combat boots for a kid? Oy...it just kept getting better and better.
Brushing some of her odd, blue-tipped white hair from her eyes, she finally spotted a promising shop. Shoes. Not too hard. She began to drift in that general direction.

Atambrean followed in silence, he would have dropped a rank down to 'stupid as he looked' had he opened his mouth with any sort of remark. He kept his eyes on Nall and twiddled with the ends of his hair, making them grow a little longer.

Nall was literally skipping with glee as they moved down the road. She looked around at everything, occasionally looking back at Atambrean and waving at him. To which Atambrean would wave back with the hand that wasn't in his hair.

When they got to shop Nall's eyes widened, she took a good long look at all the shoes she could see, trying to find a pair of boots that looked like Akso's.

Atambrean, who had managed to get his hair to his waist as they walked, kept a few paces behind Akso and Nall. He swept his hair over his shoulder and started braiding it. There was no need for him to interfere at this stop, since Akso knew better than any of them what type of shoes she wore, and besides, he didn't need to be too clingy with Nall.

Akso also glanced around the shop, finding some boots she found appealing but wasn't all that sure were suitable for a child. Turning to get Atambrean's opinion, she had to do a double take. Jesus, he had changed his hair again!
"Christ Atambrean, if you change your apearance any more i'm not going to recognise you."
She sighed and shook her head. People shouldn't be allowed to make themselves look like whatever they wanted. Wasn't that dangerous to other's mental health? It was sure driving her nuts.

Stepping further into the shop, she brought Nall along and stared at a wall of black boots. "I dunno Nall, your feet are pretty small. These all might be too big." Of course, she could always make them a hell of alot smaller if needed.

Atambrean just smirked and chuckled a little at Akso's reaction to his change in hair. He was about to respond when she retreated back into the shop. Oh well, he shrugged and went on plaiting his hair.

Nall followed Akso around like a devoted disciple, taking vivid interest in the walls of boots that made up of the store. She looked up. It was so hard to pick just one set...they were all so cool. She stole a glance at Akso's boots and looked back up at ones lining the wall, hmm which ones looked the most like Akso's.

Tapping her own boot clad foot, Akso also scanned over the boots, arms crossed.
"Hmm, maybe these Na..."

Akso jerked violently.

"Sh!t!" She hissed, gaze snapping to the open door where she could still see Atambrean. Her gaze absolutely burned, the amber in them like melted gold. "Bern calls."

Nall's eyes widened when she saw Akso jerk, she raced after the dark angel when she headed to the door, intent on knowing what was going on. Bern? The lady in the ugly castle, was it already time to see her? Nall shivered a little, wrapping her arms around herself.

Atambrean looked up when Akso cursed, his eyes crossing soon after when she mentioned Bern. Boy that witch had lovely timing, she called just when he finished that braid and now he'd have to go back to wearing his hair short. Oh well, he crossed his arms, placing a hand on each shoulder and began to glow silver again.

When the glow dropped he was again with short hair, in his silver armor and another pair of wings sprouted from his shoulders though this set was a bit smaller than the pair he summoned before. He looked to Nall and gave the girl a reassuring smile, nothing was going to happen to her in Bern's palace, not so long as Akso and himself had anything to say about it. Waitaminute, Akso and himself? He shook his head and refocused. "Now what?"

Nall couldn't help it, she was still worried. It felt like a heavy iron had materialized in her stomach, and it was getting bigger and heavier by the moment.

Akso, determined not to become depressed, snickered as Atambrean was again forced to shorten his hair. "Aw, and after you spent all that time braiding it too." She smirked, then turned and scooped Nall up into her arms.

"We had better go if we want to get there by night fall. Its a bit of a flight." She stepped out into the bright street and glanced back at Atambrean. "Hope you're up to it, because I ain't carrying you." She flashed one of her smirks and then was off, launching into the air like a pro, wings bursting forth and flapping. The heavy wing-beats easily carried her high into the air, plenty of thermals to ride.

Nall clung to Akso when the dark angel picked her up and bit her lip a little. Why did she feel so worried? Was it natural even though she thought Akso and Atambrean were going to beat Bern down? She tried not to think about it, instead thinking about something better, like finally being able to speak again.

Atambrean didn't have much time to stand around after Akso pushed off, he lept into the air as well, with a little less finesse than the dark angel had. Once there he began flapping after her, stopping to glide once he got enough air under his wings.

Akso fell into one of her rare silences, amber speckled eyes cold and concentrated. She held Nall snuggly, but not too tight. Hopefully the girl wouldn't be scared for life because of the battle she was to witness.
But right now, Akso needed to be worrying about herself.

Had she trained enough?
No.
Was she strong enough?
No.
Could she beat Bern?
She could only hope.

Well, her chances at the moment were not looking good. She had already decided she would be taking Bern on herself, leaving whatever freak Bern brought along for Atam. Hopefully, Bern's sidekick wouldn't be as strong or stronger than the witch herself.

Nall felt a little better as they flew on, she convinced herself that Akso and Atambrean were strong. Strong enough to beat anyone into dust. Yup, no one was stronger to her at this moment than Akso and Atambrean. The girl had hope and faith, two feelings that could test the power of any fear, unless it was accompanied by doubt...

Atambrean kicked up his afterburners, slowly catching up with Akso, but not going too fast. He didn't want to wind himself before the battle started.

Akso continued gliding through the blue skies, trying to keep herself focused for the battle ahead.

What if she simply faced Bern? Didn't let Atambrean fight? In theory, it was a good plan. If she died, Atambrean could get Nall out and continue taking care of her.
If she put Nall's guardian in danger, and they were both killed, Nall would be all alone.

Akso frowned. She wholely did not want something like that to happen. She simply could not let something like that happen.

Akso stopped mid-flight and just hovered there, staring hard at the horizon she was making for.

Atambrean stopped fast, coming close to crashing into the dark angel. He flapped his wings a few times to keep himself airborne.

Nall's eyes widened a little and she looked up expectantly at Akso. Did Bern live around here? She hadn't seen a castle, ugly or not since they left the ground.

Once Atambrean steadied himself he flew to Akso's side. "Any reason you decided to stop?"

This was one hell of a decision.

Face emotionless, Akso simply held Nall out to Atambrean.
"I don't want you to fight."
She answered bluntly.

This was a rather important decision on her part. By saying she did not want Atam to fight, she was basically taking up the entire battle by herself.
But she couldn't risk being responsible for Atam's death. Couldn't cause Nall to loose her guardian and friend.

Damn these sentimental decisions!

Nall's eyes widened, she looked up at Akso in a pitious manner and clung to the dark angel, her eyes starting to water again. She didn't know what was going on, but she didn't want to be handed off to Atambrean without an explanation.

Atambrean was silent. He certainly could think of something he'd rather be doing at this moment then flying off to potentially get killed. He had a slight feeling why she didn't want him to fight, and it involved the little kid hanging onto her right now.

But.

But, he'd feel like a creep pulling Nall away from Akso and flying off into the night, not knowing what was happening to her, or what she was going through. Besides, they trained together those few days didn't they? If he wasn't going to fight then why did he even spend time training? And there was still the matter of Nall's voice. It was his task to help break the curse, and if to do that he had to risk his life, while it was a hideous thought in his opinion, then it was part of the job.

Atambrean shook his head, trying to pull a stern look across his face. "I can't do that, I'm supposed to break the curse on Nall, and I intend to do whatever it takes to do so."

 God damn that Atambrean!!

"Look, i foolishly asked you to help in this battle. But now i've changed my mind, and it was my decision to make. You are not going to fight."

She held Nall out perilously, grabbing the girls arms and letting her hang there.
"If you won't take her and leave, then I am going to drop her. I will drop her, and then i will leave and face what i have to, by myself."

Well, that was Akso at her coldest. Almost.

 Sh*t!

Atambrean's eyes widened, she wouldn't drop Nall would she? There was no way he could take that chance!

Nall looked at Akso, her eyes still wide. Did Akso really mean what she said. Drop her? Was she going to drop her! Nall's face became one of pure terror.

Atambrean dove in and grabbed Nall, pulling her from the dark angel's grasp and holding the girl close. The stern look he had before dissolved, his eyes crossed a little and his jaw settled like he was about to snarl. "Fine," he spat in an acidic tone. More words formed in his mind, but never got the chance to bubble up as his throat constricted around them. His eyes crossed a little more and he swooped back down towards the earth before he made a fool of himself floating in silence.

How could she do that? He was sure Akso knew how much Nall looked up to her. So why did she go and risk her life like that? Maybe that's what she meant when she called herself a dark angel. He only hoped the experience wouldn't leave any scars on Nall's psyche.

Nall clung tightly to Atambrean, her head tucked down against his shoulder, as they flew down to the ground a two slick trails ran down the chest of Atambrean's armor, glinting in the light.

Akso quivered in the air, staring straight ahead and concentrating. Concentrating on not crying.

Damn but she was a fool.

"B*tch." She spat at herself, then furiously began flapping off towards the castle.

'I am a Dark Angel. Do not forget that.'

The firey colors of the sunset nearly blinded her, reflecting off the tears barely held back in her eyes. She was flying at a near break-neck speed, and finally could hold back no longer. The tears spilled down her face, hot and heavy, quickly cooling in the whiping air.
Cold hearted b*tch. Yeah, that was her in a nutshell right now. Dammit!!!

The dark speck of the castle was growing with every passing second, and Akso didn't care. As far as she was concerned, she would probably die in there.
Hell, she deserved it, with the crap she had done.

Well, what a wonderful outlook she had on life right then.

The sun was starting to set when Atambrean touched ground in front of the hotel. His wings dissapeared in a flash of silver and he swept into the building, storming over to the room he and Nall split, when she hadn't decided to spend the night with Akso. He shook his head a little, keeping it down a bit in the vain hope that he wouldn't have to see the door to Akso's room. Kaliyat's whiles he was a moron.

He waved the door to Nall and his room open and stamped in. Strode over to Nall's bed and set in the center of it. He shook the girl's shoulder softly and looked down at her. "Hey kiddo, its alright now your on the ground in the hotel."

Nall didn't budge.

Atambrean ran a hand through her ponytail. "Come on Nall, everything will be fine."

Nall shuddered but didn't rise.

"You worried about her?"

Atambrean barely felt Nall slowly lift her head up and down. He gave the girl a little squeeze. "Don't worry, Nall there's nothing for you to worry about now." Well if that wasn't one of the biggest lies he told in his life, but he had to get Nall to cheer up..somehow. But, perhaps some candy-coated truth wasn't enough, she was growing up and couldn't be fed too many 'world is a happy place tales'.

"Sorry Nall."

Nall glanced up at him, many fresh streams of tears running down her face.

"There's a lot to worry about, I shouldn't have told you there weren't. This is a world chock full of worries, and doubts, and all sorts of dark things. No ones a stranger to it, I'll tell you right now that I'm not. Neither are your parents, anyone else back home or even," he paused a moment. "Even Akso. But, sometimes its best if we let them go, just forget that the world can be a bad place. Free yourself from the burdens of life and let your soul heal."

Nall sat back a little so her arms were free and signed a simple word.

Atambrean tryed to smile. "Sleep. Just sleep and forget for now, you can worry in the morning."

Nall brushed at the tear trails and pulled the ribbon from her hair, taking a good look at it. The night made it look dark and forboding. She folded the cloth and set it on the nightstand kicked her golden shoes off and flopped over on her pillow, curling into a ball. She hugged her pillow tight, burying her face in it.

"You gonna take your cape off?"

Nall reached one hand out and pulled her cape tighter across herself.

"Guess not," Atambrean chuckled a little and stood up. In another flash of silver the armor and short hair were gone, replaced with the black tunic and slacks and a waist fall of hair. He walked up to the window, put both hands on the sill and looked out it. He didn't stay at the window long, spun away from it and began pacing the room, arms crossed in front of him.

Nall tried to sleep. Nall failed to sleep. She just couldn't, no matter how still she lay, even with her eyes closed. Maybe it would take a little longer than normal sleep, she sure hoped it would come soon though, her stomach felt funny and she couldn't get rid of the thoughts everclouding her mind.

Talk about going to your fate. This was gonna suck.

Landing outside the castle, she paused a minute to watch the last flickering fingers of sunset disappear into the darkness.
How she despised the dark now.

The heavy wooden doors swung open effortlessly, and Akso went through without a backward glance.
The doors slammed shut behind her.

The darkness was like a blanket, warm and suffocating. She could see nothing, hear nothing, smell nothing.
Slowly she shifted to wolf form, and the room came into semi-light.
Not a room, but a huge hallway. Tables and tall vases, along with statues and suits of armor lined the walls on either side of her. The ceiling was so high up, she could hardly see it.
On the floor was a soft carpet that stretched on forever. She was betting it was some morbid shade of red or purple.

Setting off down the hall, her thick black nails sunk into the rug and made no noise. Not that surprise was even possible when in the castle of a witch. No, Bern knew she was hear already. Alone. Vulnerable. Weak.

The hallway went on and on, door after door passing her to the left and the right, always closed. Finally, the winding staircase rose up before her, crooked and elegant in the darkness.
Akso trotted up, lupine face slack, no emotions allowed to run rampant within her. It was fighting time.

Coming to the top of the stairs, she found herself in another hall, this one a bit more narrow. There were nothing on the walls, on the floor. No doors branching off. Just the hallway, dark and foreboding.

Akso's nails clacked noisily on this floor, with no rug to cushion them. But Akso couldn't have cared less. She was wholly focused on the door she knew would be coming up.
And there it was.

Tall, taller then any human would be. And old. The dark wood looked warped and cracked, no varnish keeping it pretty.

Akso shifted back and pushed the door open with a long, drawn out creak. She then started into the pitch-black room, her boots clattering on the hard floor. The space was utterly silent, and cold. A soft shiver ran up and down Akso's spine, and it wasn't pleasant.
Death lurked in this room.

The door slammed, and Akso spun around. Too late.
A twisting spiral of magick slammed into Akso, colder than cold and blacker than black.
Oh god, she was going to die here.

The wall sharply connected with her back not two seconds after she was hit, her head smacking into the stone and sending a blast of white stars before her eyes. How big was this room? Did she even want to know??

"How nice of you to come and see me Akso." The raspy, unforgettable voice of Bern cracked the silence. A small orb of greenish light appeared, and the tall woman was illuminated. She might have been beautiful when young, whenever that had been. Now, she stood rigid-backed, her skin wrinkled, sagging, and old. The whites of her eyes were yellowed, as were her grinning teeth.

"As if i had a choice." Akso barely managed, the wind knocked out of her. Damn, she couldn't even stand up! Her chest was constricted, cold, choking. And her head...oi, it was throbbing.

Atambrean continued to pace, up and down across the room, back and forth and up and down.

Nall's breathing became rythimic. She'd finally fallen asleep.

When Nall's breathing steadied Atambrean stopped pacing. He leaned against a dresser, glaring at the window. A flash of silver ran up the hand on the dresser, and as it faded he ran it down the side, tearing four long gashes in the wood.

Dammit, why did Akso suddenly feel so self sacrificing. What the hell was she trying to accomplish by doing so anyway! It ticked him off, if this was a battle for Nall's voice he should have been helping, not pacing around a hotel room destroying the woodwork. It was such a pointless waste of time!

He scowled and stomped over to the window, putting his hands back on the sill and looking out. Dammit...it didn't seem like there was much in store for him tonight. He was too hyped up to possibly get any sleep, and pacing around the room certaintly wasn't interesting. He looked out the window again, more in a longing manner than with the anger he had before.

Hell, Akso wasn't here, why did he have to stay in the room. A few wards would keep the room safe from anything that tried to enter it, thus protecting Nall. And even drinking would be more productive than effectively digging a trench in the room's floor. He undid the locks on the window and pushed it up. Now for the defenses, he put a hand over his heart and chanted. A chill wind blew in through the window fluttering his hair and the ends of his tunic. He fluttered his hand away from his chest, a few dark spheres coalescing from the whisps of dark smoke that rose from it. The spheres drifted in front of the door and the window, floating in a military fashion.

"Sheild only Atambrean, Nall," he paused a moment, "and Akso from your sight. Too others, let them feel the darkness that claws their psyche."

A smirk settled on his face and he slipped out the window, closing it behind him. He didn't worry about the open locks, in fact, he pitied anyone foolish enough to try breaking into that room. He snickered and started walking, setting both hands in his pockets.

Akso never screamed. At least, she had liked to think she never did.
Well, looks like that record was broken.

The scream ripped from her throat as blast after blast of that horrid, icey magick burrowed into her body.
She knew there was no blood pouring from the magickal wounds, but it still hurt like hell. It was like someone driving a blunt, frozen sword into her body over and over again, slowly.
Oh god how it hurt!!

She bit her lip as hard as she possibly would dare to keep from screaming again as Bern switched the magick to a burning sensation. It was like liquid flame eating at her veins.
Christ, she didn't even have a chance.

Bern laughed, holding Akso flat against the stone wall with a simple binding spell that was more powerful than any Akso had ever seen. "Not so brave now, are you, little Angel?" She hissed, yellow teeth grinning.
Akso managed to spit at her, and was rewarded with a wall of crushing force that threatened to smash her right through the wall.

Smart Akso, real smart.

The pressure was finally released and Akso slumped to the floor, gasping for air. Doubled over, she did not have to stare at anything other than her knees and the dirty ground. Crap, what was she going to do?? Unless she could get in with her sword, there was no hope. But Bern's magick was simply too powerful. She couldn't get in close to the witch.
Fine, stunning was a good option.

She hoped.

Standing alittle too fast, Akso quickly snapped her concentration to creating her sword. Bern was already rushing her, just a blur of blackish magick.
Crap...come on stupid sword...come ON.

THERE!!

The sword jumped into being within her grasp not seconds before Bern smashed into her.
Pinned to the wall, burning from Bern's flame, Akso grinned and gripped her sword tighter. It was pressed flat against her abdomen, but she didn't need to slash with it to get Bern off.
Two seperate snakes of magick burst from the blade, slamming Bern far away from her. The witch shrieked more with rage than pain, but Akso wasn't even worried about that right now.

Swinging the sword around, a familiar cresent of blue-black magick appeared and flew straight for Bern. The damnable witch easily dodged it and laughed, but that was cut short when the wall behind her exploded.
She was forced to duck as a tide of rock rained down on her. Akso was just far enough to only have to dodge a few sizable chunks.

Well, this was looking a tad bit better.

Nall shifted in her sleep, a few beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

Her sleep wasn't peaceful. A parade of images flitted chaotically through her mind: A dark tower rumbling and sinking into the ground, the glint of white teeth against a soft blackness, pairs of pinprick light flickering on and off, the deceptive smirk of Rennick, and blue hair flowing like a fire. All set against the baying of hounds at the hunt.

Nall's mouth opened, if she had her voice a noise might have come out, her breathing deepening.

Akso gripped her double bladed sword a bit harder and waited for Bern to resurface from the rubble.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY MOTHER!?" The scream of rage echoed around Akso. The dark angel blinked. Oh christ, it couldn't be.
"Seth??"

The other dark angel slammed into Akso before she had a moment to think, the blade flew from her hand and stuck itself securely in the stone floor.
Great, now she was weaponless.

Seth was blindly pummling Akso with just his fists, forcing her to keep her arms up before her face was nothing more then a bloody pulp.
Yes, Seth was strong enough to do that.

Akso could feel the bones in her arms starting to crack from the multitude of blows. It was not a nice sensation. "Sh!t."

She jerked one arm away and concentrated on bringing her sword back to her, wincing as a few of Seth's blows found their mark on her face.

Her blade jerked a bit, then began to slide itself free. Then, a dark form threw its arms around the blade. Bern.
"Oh bloody hell! GET OFF!" Akso screamed as her blocking arm gave a grotesque snap and fell limp. The blade zoomed towards them, Bern hanging on and hissing.

Just as it would have struck Seth, the darkangel stood, taking Akso with him. His arms were banded around her midsection, snapping ribs with immense pressure.
And then the sword struck.

Seth grimaced, and Akso gasped. The blade was poking just a bit from her own back. She felt her legs go numb. Her spine had been severed.
Seth was gagging, blood pouring from his mouth just as it did from Akso's. Bern was screaming something at Akso, burning with her black magick.

But Akso couldn't hear anything anymore. It was all silent. A darkness began to eat around the edges of her vision as she stared straight into he 'brother's eyes. They were going to die together, but he would come back. He'd always come back, as long as Bern was alive.

"No..." And then the darkness swept her away into a land that knew no pain, no hatred, no sorrow.

The beads of sweat on Nall's forehead multiplied, popping and running down her face. She grit her teeth and writhed against the mattress.

A sense of order came to the dream, the flux of images thinning to show a dark night in the midst of a forest. The horrible baying continued, and images of needle thin hounds with sharp feirce faces straining against long black leashes held by a master that didn't show themself coursing through the forest. Images of their quarry flashed into being next, a sapphire haired woman in simple homespun garb. The woman ran through the forest at a speed that would have baffled most humans, her mouth open and the notes of a wordless tune spilling from it. Twin rows of briars came up on both sides of the woman, growing into an unnatural horseshoe shape and rising up to the branches of the trees. The woman stopped her song, whirling to look at the dogs and their shadowy master. A look of stony determination came over her face and she wrapped her arms around herself tossing her head back and began another song. This one greatly different, a harsh wracking sound that threatened to undo everything subject to it. The woman's hair and skirts spiraled upwards, whipping around like the tongues of of a fire. The hounds stopped, drawing their lips back into a scowl as the ground ripped loose from around them. A smirk flitted across the edges of the woman's lips and winds all but howled, screaming in tone with the horrid notes that came from her. The dogs and their master huddled down against the shattered ground. Until their bodies ripped apart at the seams and rose into an ominous yellow moon...

Nall sat up in her bed, breathing heavily, her eyes large, and her body shining with sweat in the pale moonlight. She looked around, and in the dark couldn't see anyone. The little girl pulled her blanket up to her chin, trying to hide.

It was dark. Night maybe? Yeah, probably night. Where the hell was she? The wall at her back was cold. Christ, her entire body ached. Except her legs...

Akso's amber speckled orbs snapped open. Her spine. It had been severed by her own sword. She couldn't feel her legs.
But hell, she was still alive!!!

Akso slowly, warily, glanced around. She was in a....dungeon???
Jesus, count on Bern's castle having an all-out dungeon in it. Just her freaking luck.

Both wrists were shackled to the wall, her numb legs needing no restraints. Her white trenchcoat was soaked with blood. Hers, and Seth's. The slim hole in her gut wasn't all that bad, now that she could see it. Then again, it would be fatal to any human. But Akso wasn't human, now was she?

"Ah, I see you are awake." Dammit, Bern again.
Akso rolled her head around to all out glare at the witch. "Yeah, barely."
The witch grinned, yellow teeth glinting in the dim candle-light. Akso realized then that she wasn't healing. At all. "What the hell'd you do??"
Bern just grinned again. "Ah, the wonders of spells!"
Akso spat at her. Great, now she couldn't heal, however painful it was when she could.

Seth came up beside Bern, looking drawn, angry, and in pain. The witch did not pay attention to her son. She was thinking of ways to torment Akso.
Great news. Blah.

"Seth, take her jacket off please." Seth blinked, and so did Akso. "Pardon?" Seth said, looking at his mother. The witch glared at him. "Take off her jacket." She hissed. Seth blinked again, but strode over to Akso and began to strip the blood-soaked coat off.
Akso positively couldn't help herself. "Kinky..."
Seth glared at her, and she tried not to laugh. "Sorry..." She muttered, still grinning. He finished ripping the jacket off and threw it across the floor, stepping back. Luckily, Akso was wearing a simply undershirt type garment.
"That too." Bern ordered, and Seth obeyed.
Great, not anymore.

Well, Akso could think of plenty of places she'd rather be right now. She was hung on a brick wall, completely topless, with some sick, demented witch with plans to torture her. Wonderful way to spend the evening.

And then Bern brought out the knife and a red-hot prod.
Akso's pupils shrunk.
"Dear lord."

Nall shuddered and drew her blanket up farther. It was too quiet, shouldn't she hear Atambrean's breathing? Where was he? Maybe he was in the restroom. Perhaps. She shuddered again, waiting to see if he would come back from somewhere.

God, please, PLEASE let me die!...or pass out! or SOMETHING!!
Akso groaned in her mind, head hanging limply. Her breathing was ragged, her mind fogged with an over-stimulus of pain. She didn't know how long she had been here. Didn't want to know. She just wanted to get home in one piece. The chances of that, however, were getting ever slimmer.

Huge, ragged burns criss-crossed the dark angel's bare chest. There were plenty of gaping wounds to go with them. Blood was pouring down her front in rivulets from each of the various knife wounds. Entire slices of skin and flesh had been removed, with Akso there to witness it happening. To see her body marred beyond recognition. To feel it sliced away.

One whole side of her ribcage was nothing but a gory hole. Her ribs were scattered about on the dirty floor, still bloody, with muscles bound tight around them. Some of them were clean though. That had happened when Bern decided to strip the muscle from the bone then pull the bone out.
F*cking painful either way. Really f*cking painful.

Surprisingly, Bern hadn't been perverted as well as sadistic, and both Akso's breasts were intact, if not sliced and burned like the rest of her torso.
Thank the gods.

Bern was now cutting a good portion of Akso's crimson pants off. It made the pants more like shorts once she was done.
The old witch poked at Akso's legs, but got no response. "You cannot feel this, can you?" She hissed, and Akso just glared at her. The witch laughed. "Watch! Watch as your flesh is stripped away!"
And Akso found her eyes forced open and her head forced down by magick. She had no choice but to watch.
Bern pulled out a sharp, curved blade and grinned, shoving it straight through Akso's right calf, near the bone.
She gasped, eyes widening, as Bern slowly began to saw the large chunk of meat off.
"Oh my god!!" She choked out, trying for the life of her to not look. But it was useless; Bern's magick was too strong.
With a wet plop her calf fell on the cold stone floor. Akso felt bile piling up in the back of her throat. Dear god...she was going to be sick...

Bern moved to her left leg and began to gouge and pull off strips of her thigh. The chunks of meat always hit the floor with that sickening, wet sound.
It was all Akso could do to simply cry and not scream or throw up. Just because she couldn't feel it didn't mean it wasn't horrible.

"There. Lets take care of that pretty face of yours dear." Bern all but purred this as a cat-o-nine-tails appeared in her hand, the hot poker again in her other hand.
Akso shivered, watching Bern with blurry eyes.
The whip lashed across her face then, pieces of bone and metal tied into the strips gouging and ripping the delicate flesh. Akso screamed, unable to bite it back any longer.

One could only take so much pain before screaming the heart's despair.

The whip slashed many more times, Akso screaming as her face became so much raw meat.
And then Bern dropped the whip and came up to the profusely bleeding angel, hot poker in hand. "Your face looks much better my dear." She cackled, pure malice in her voice.
Akso was unrecognizable. All the skin and flesh of her face had been torn to shreds, globules of it hanging off the bone. Her eyelids were nonexistant.
Bern leaned forward, grinning those yellow teeth, and slowly touched the red-hot tip of the poker to one of Akso's bare eyes. A fresh peal of screaming burst from Akso's throat as she tried to thrash away. Bern's too strong hand held her jaw in place, weathered fingers sinking into the ruined flesh.
Akso whimpered high and painfully as Bern drew the edge of the poker around and around on her eye, burning and searing the layers of eye matter away.

Pleas god....help me....

Something felt, wrong. The girl couldn't put her finger on it. Akso going off to fight Bern, Atambrean dissapearing, the dream. It, it wasn't right. The wrongness of the evening was like the chilled darkness in it.

All she knew about Akso now was that she was in Bern's ugly castle..wherever that was. All she knew about Atambrean now was that he was gone. The dream was just weird, ever since she woke from it she felt like her muscles had a will of their own, twitching and jumping like electrical currents were running through them.

It was like time stopped, the village was sleeping, barely any sounds could be heard save for the whispers of her breathing. She could try to find them. No, she was too scared, how could she find them on her own in the night?

They would come back.

Wouldn't they?

Blinded, beaten, battered, bruised, and bleeding, Akso hung limp in the manacles. Bern was wheezing to herself, summoning a couple of wicked hooks on chains from the ceiling.

"Do you want down from there my dear?" Bern called, making her voice warm and resonable. Akso could only nod; Bern had cut her tongue out, so what was the use trying to speak?

A malicious grin spread on Bern's face. "Alright then." An axe appeared in her hands. She swung it around, the edge biting into Akso's wrist, severing the hand. Akso's head jerked up with the new pain, mouth open in a silent scream. The other hand was quick to be lost, and Akso fell to the floor, crumpling as she hit it.

"Seth, pick her up and bring her to me." The witch ordered, turning back to the hooks. The other dark angel came up silently and scooped the mess that was once proud Akso from the floor. He paused a moment to glance down at what was left of her eyes and face. If he had been capable of pity, he wouldn't have been able to give it to this thing that no longer resembled a living person.
He handed Akso over to Bern.

The witch propped the dark angel up on her non-working knees and grasped a hook in each hand.
Akso's wings suddenly burst forth with a spray of blood as always, and Bern slammed a hook into each.
Akso whimpered, unable to move or do anything to prevent the torture from continuing.

Three more hooks were jammed into Akso's wings before Bern stepped back.
"Up we go."
The chains attatched to the hooks lurched upward, dislocating Akso's wings with a jerk and pulling her roughly off the ground.
Akso screamed, the sound echoing off the walls, as she sped for the ceiling. She crashed into it with a thud, her already severed spin jerking around in her flesh.
And then she was falling, but she never hit the ground. Oh no, those damn hook jerked at the last minute, snapping the delicate bones and ripping the powerful flesh in her wings with the force of it.

This yo-yo action would continue until the hooks ripped free. And then, it would most likely start all over again.

The silence was the scariest thing.

Nall sat up in her bed, the mattress creaking a little as she did so. She smiled a little at the sound, the presence of sound made the world feel like it wasn't so hollow. The still room now looked artificial, there was no movement, other than the wiggling of her feet under the blanket. She squirmed a little more. If she moved the room wouldn't be so still, if she made noise the room wouldn't be so deathly silent. They were the first small steps to beating it, if only she had a candle to battle the darkness.

Finally, all eight hooks ripped themselves free and Akso plummeted, hitting the ground with a dull thud. Half of her internal organs were hanging wetly from the gaping wound in her side, no ribs to hold them in.

Akso could hardly breath any longer, and the floor spun before her eyes. Then there was no floor.

She was standing in a room. A...a room??? A REAL room?
Gingerly, she glanced down at herself, and her gaze snapped back up again. She was still torn apart and mangled, hardly anything left of her body, literally. But her ruined legs, somehow, were working. She was weightless.
And then, she saw her.
Nall!! Akso grinned and tried to call out the girl's name. Oh right, no tongue, damn. She quickly strode across the room and went to lay a hand, er, stub on Nall's shoulder. Her stump drifted through. What??? Cripes, her body had no real mass! But this room was real... and Nall looked a bit frightened. Was she scared of the dark? Akso frowned, or would have, if her lips were still intact.
'Do not be frightened of the dark...I will make it go away for you...' She whispered softly, a blue orb floating between her wrist stubs. The orb materialized and became real, lighting the room for the beloved little girl. And then Akso was drifting away...away...

Akso's eyes fluttered open, and she could feel Bern's hot breath on her face.
Suddenly, a new well of power boiled up within her.
Her shreaded lips pulled back into a snarl, her grotesque features twisting.
'NO DAMMIT!! I WILL SAVE HER! I WILL GET NALL'S VOICE BACK, YOU B*TCH!!!
She screamed telepathically, still unable to see, and suddenly unable to feel. Her power lashed out suddenly, and Bern yowled, jumping away from the cripled dark angel.
Akso let off a horrid battle cry and began to drag herself across the floor on the stumps of her wrists. Her dead legs and wings dragged behind her, leaving a gory trail of blood.

Bern back up, shrieking, and threw blast after blast at Akso's face and head. The Dark Angel did not stop. Still she crawled forward, somehow knowing where the ugly witch was. Bern was screaming now in fear, trying desperately to keep the grotesque monster that was Akso away from her.

Did she just? Was that? Could it have been?

Akso's voice? Saying that she would make the darkness go away? Wait! There was a blue orb of light in the room, making it bright. Smiting the darkness.

Was Akso back? Nall sat up higher looking around the now light filled room for any sign of the dark angel. Nothing. Just the message and the appearance of the orb of light. But, she had to be alive to use magic. Didn't she? There was hope.

Nall couldn't speak, but that didn't stop her from thinking out what she would have said. Repeating a mantra of hope over and over in her mind. And maybe, just maybe Akso would hear it too.

Akso can do it. She can beat Bern. And when she does she'll be a light angel again, and I'll have my voice. Akso will win.

...Akso can do it. She can beat Bern. And when she does she'll be a light angel again, and I'll have my voice. Akso will win...

The beautiful voice of Nall echoed around the maddened Akso.
'Yes! I will win!!'

Akso was crawling faster now, the bone in her wrist stubs grating on the dirty floor. But Akso was beyond pain. She was dying, but she wasn't going to go without a fight.

There was nothing going through Akso's mind except the unruley urge to kill Bern.
The afor mentioned witch was pressed against a grungy wall, screaming, still hurling every spell she knew at Akso. The mangled Dark Angel's aura slapped them away like flies.

Bern was in a fit of hysteria, and Akso simply kept coming. Upon reaching Bern, the angel began to try and climb up her, her bloody stumps making thick smears all over Bern.
"Seth! Help me! HELP ME!!!" The witch screamed.

"Yes mother, I will help you." Seth's cold voice answered. Bern quieted, staring at her son wide-eyed.
"Wh...what are you doing Seth?" Her wavering voice questioned.

Akso's double bladed sword suddenly slammed through both the clambering Akso and Bern. Bern screamed, but Akso was beyond caring.
'GIVE NALL BACK HER VOICE, OR I WILL HAUNT YOU EVEN IN DEATH!!!' Akso screamed within Bern's mind. The witch was crying and screaming, waving her arms for a lack of anything to do.
'GIVE IT BACK TO HER!' Akso ordered again as they both burst into whitish flames.

Seth watched with cold eyes as the two burned alive.

The blue orb in Nall's room suddenly flared with blinding light, then faded away, the last mists of it curling around Nall's neck.
Little loops of burning light curled around the binding serpant spell around her neck and constricted, destroying it.

The last flickers of Akso's light then faded away...

Over and over Nall ran the hopeful mantra through her mind. She sat up as straight as she could, eyebrows crossed in determination.

Then the orb brightened, expanding with a bright light that drowned out the features of the room until it faded, the darkness chasing after it. The streams of power it still held wrapping around her neck. The power of Bern's magic, but moreso Akso's intense determination choking the negative energy that fed the spell.

Nall put a hand up to her neck as the ball of light faded. She took her hand down and fumbled for the bracelet that normally cloacked the serpant from vision, and finding it pushed the gem. Silence, the horrible hissing of the serpant was gone.

But, Akso's light was gone. What happened to her? Nall slid down from her bed and walked to the window, placed both hands against the window pane and looked up to the dark sky.

"Akso?"

With Akso's passing, the double-blade fell away, the two swords parting and clanking on the stone floor.

The charred corpses of Bern and Akso also crumpled to the floor, fused together by the heat.

Seth bent and grabbed only his sword. He then brought it down on Akso's sword, breaking it cleanly in two. The spirit of the sword floated free and dissapeared.
"You'll be needing that, Akso, when you come back. Take care of it in the spirit realm." Seth said softly before leaving the dungeon.

She did it! Her voice it was back, she could talk again! That meant that Akso beat Bern didn't it? Nall stayed at the window, looking up into the sky for any sign of Akso, or Atambrean for that matter.

Time slowly waxed on and she stayed in front of the window, the velvet darkness slowly reddening with the coming sun. Sleep finally began to tug at her again and she yawned, slumping down against the window sill. She didn't want to sleep though. The girl wanted to be awake when Akso and Atambrean got back, to tell them both the good news.

A smile played across her lips. They're gonna be so happy she thought, yawning widely again and starting to nod off.

Atambrean half walked and half ran into the hotel, pulling the key to the room from his pocket. He slipped the key into the lock and turned it, about to walk into the room, when he realized something.

The spell was still active. No need to give the black robed woman an uneeded shock. He waved his right pointer finger in a circle and blew on the tip. Then reached up to grab the air just above the finger. He ground the hand around the air, opened it and blew on it yet again. There, now that was out of the way.

He looked over his shoulder to see if the woman was still following him.

And saw Atambrean perform his dispel of sorts...

She cocked her head to the side, still smiling, "So, is this it...?"

Akso's spirit easily followed after the two, wings never even needed to take flight.
This was too cool.

Being dead wasn't all that bad.

Finally back at the hotel, she weaved around Atam, waiting for him to finish what ever the hell he was doing before opening the door.
'Jesus man! Lets GO.'
Akso commanded, floating through him and into the room itself. Good thing doors were no longer a problem.

Time to see if her last ditch effort had worked. Did Nall have her voice back yet?

"Alright alright already," Atambrean muttered in response to the voice in his head, temporarily forgetting that Sephnia was with him. Oh well, she didn't seem like the kind of person that would freak out because someone blurted out some random stuff.

Time to enter the room. Time to see if Akso's disembodied voice was indeed right. Akso's disembodied voice...he shivered, here he was getting orders from a voice who's body was nowhere in sight. He shivered again and opened the door, stepping into the room bathed only in the light of the morning sun.

Nall wasn't in her bed! Oh dear Tliamat! Panic panic panic!!

Oh wait, she was at the windowsill. Oops, looks like she would have noticed that he went out. She was slumped slightly into it, looking much as she had when he left her, still wearing her cape, her long caramel hair falling loose down her back a little even touching the floor.

"Nall?" He said quietly, walking further into the room.

The girl didn't stir, her shoulders rose and fell at a steady pace though.

"Whattaya know, she was sleeping," Atam mused to himself. "Take a seat Miss-" Gurk, didn't know this woman's name, introductions could wait though. "You can take a seat if you wish." He took a few more steps towards Nall. "Nall?"

Nall shifted and made a little sleep noise.

"Geez kid, how can you sleep on that sill? It's a bit stiff," Atambrean noticed as he closed the distance between himself and Nall.

The girl's eyes fluttered open. That sounded like Atambrean's voice? Was he back? She looked over her shoulder. It was him! He was back! Nall grinned, an action that seemed to light the room up further.

"Hey kiddo, I stayed out a bit late, sorry," Atambrean grinned nervously.

Nall's grin didn't fade a bit, she spun around all the way. "Atam!" Her voice was bell-like, soft and melodius. The girl all but charged at Atambrean and clung to him as though he'd dissapear. "Where's Akso? Is she with you?"

Atambrean was stunned, Nall could talk again. Hell yeah! A genuine smile stretched up his face and his shoulders shook a little. "Thank the gods," he said softly.

Sephnia smiled evilly as Atambrean addressed someone who wasn't there.
Did he hear the voices too? Were her own eyes defunct and unable to see the person he was talking to? Was the person invisible? Was Sephnia invisible? Were the voices in Atambrean's head friends with the voices in her head?
Sephnia shrugged; she'd find out later, if possible.
She walked into the room, and was offered to take a seat by Atambrean...
Sephnia looked around the room intently, putting a finger to her lip thoughtfully, "Really...? Which one shall I take...? Do you really want me to take one of these seats...? They do not belong to me, after all..." Sephnia thought a little more, "Maybe I should sit down while I think..."
She sat down on the edge of the bed, crossing her legs and leaning back slightly relaxingly, using her arms as support.

And speaking!!

'YESSS!! Ha! She can talk! Whoo! Damnable Bern kept her end of the bargain! I guess threatening to haunt her for eternity if she didn't worked!' Akso shouted telepathically, jerking a fist into the air with her joy. Nall could talk again! Nall could actually TALK again!

Atambrean's eyes began to twitch in quite an amusing manner. "Yes Akso, where are you? Why don't you stop talking in my head and show yourself?!?"

Nall looked up at Atambrean with a questioning look. Was he going crazy? Or was Akso really talking in his head? She hadn't before...

Speaking of crazy, Nall thought she heard a strange voice, but it wasn't Akso's. She looked behind him and saw a blue skinned woman in a black robe sitting on Atambrean's bed. Who was that? Time to investigate. She walked over to the woman and smiled. "Hi, are you Atam's friend?"

Atambrean looked left and looked right and then nose dived under Nall's bed. "Come out come out where ever you are Akso!"

Seemed that Sephnia wasn't going to remain the only headcase in the room for long...

Akso watched Atam's actions with a saddened smile. Normally, she would have been laughing her ass off, for he looked rediculous.

But there was a bit of news she needed to tell him, and she could not bring herself to really find it amusing.

'I...I'm dead Atambrean. In the fight...'
She took a deep breath of air that wasn't really there, into lungs that were no more than spectrel beings.
'I am so sorry...'
Her eyes stung with tears that would never fall, for the dead could not cry.

Sephnia smiled back at Nall, "Hmm...I am at a lack to answer, as it would be Atam's opinion as to whether or not I was his friend," She snapped her fingers, her eyes lighting up with a most phenominal inspiration, "Perhaps we should ask him..."
She glanced over at the man somewhat hidden underneath the bed of Nall, "Oh Atam... We have an inquiry that only you can answer... Am I your friend...?"
Sephnia put a finger to her lip thoughtfully; he appeared to be looking for something called an 'Akso' which could have been hidden underneath a commonly used piece of furniture utilized for achieving comfortable slumber.
But what was an 'Akso'? Maybe that was the name of one of the voices in his head? Could be...or perhaps a monster, as those are typically found underneath a bed. But so are 'dust bunnies' and old shoes...
Oh the possibilities...

There was a banging sound from under the bed, and a muffled 'sh!t'. Atambrean withdrew from under it, rubbing the back of his head and looking a little ticked, more than likely because of the inpending knot growing on the back of his head.

But, Akso said she was..dead. His eyes unfocused and he looked at the open air. If she was dead the dark angel could be anywhere. She was gone, gods, could he really tell Nall that? What would he say? That Akso went on to a better place? That could kind of be the truth, but then Nall would ask if they could visit...

He was snapped out of his thinking by Sephnia's sudden question. In fact he was a little thrown off by the fact that she called him something usually Nall called him, then again she didn't know his real name so the woman had to go with what she had. He didn't want to spend a lot of time talking, he had some thinking to do, and d'oh! He was also supposed to talk with the black robed woman... Hopefully Nall would take up some more of her time after answering this question. "Sure," he replied.

Nall's grin widened and a curious look came to her eyes, "How long have you and Atam been friends?" she moved a little closer to Sephnia and plopped down on the bed next to her.

Atambrean gingerly sat down on the corner of Nall's bed, his head still throbbing. Hmm maybe Akso could hear his thoughts since he could hear her voice in his head. It might work. Hey Akso...can you hear me?

Akso hovered effortlessly in the air, right above the bed where they all sat.
'Yeah Atam, I can hear you.'
She answered softly, her voice no longer its haughty and sarcastic self. It was now quiet, subdued, and very, very sad.
'You should probably tell Nall.'
She took another deep breath, trying to steady herself.
'I'm right above the bed if you need a place to talk at.'

"How long have you and Atam been friends?"
Sephnia scratched her chin, glancing upwards as she thought.
Now was a time when a time keeping device would have come into real use!
"We met rather clumsily some twenty to thirty minutes ago, while I suppose myself and Atam have been friends for the whole of one minute, ever since he affirmed that I was his friend..."
She smiled evilly at Nall.

Nall blinked in utter amazement. That was the most thorough answer she'd ever received for a question in her life!

Atambrean rubbed his forehead a bit. Akso was right, he would have to tell Nall, if he didn't take initiative and do it she would ask and ask and ask until his head was about to implode. Besides, it just felt wrong to keep such information away from her, the girl had a right to know. He took a deep breath, it was now or never.

"Nall."

The girl turned back to look at her guardian, her eyes wide and inquisitive.

"Nall, Akso wanted me to tell you this," Serpens' wiles this is sounding worse and worse, Akso told me, well she did! Damn, this is getting too long to be a dramatic pause- "She-" he choked a little, and coughed to clear his throat. "She didn't make it Nall. She-Akso died, she's gone," Atambrean choked again, put a hand up to partially cover his mouth and nose and looked down. Now that the realization began, a sea of 'if I', 'I could have' and 'I should have's began to flood his mind. Bringing with them a crushing weight of shame.

Nall stepped back, her eyes widening and the light leaving them.

Akso blinked from her place above the bed, watching the scene unfold. She shivered lightly in her spiritual form, trying hard not to let the sudden greif overwhelm her.

Nall's reaction was enough to make her want to cry herself.
'Oh god Atam, please don't let her just cry. I swear, I won't be able to bear watching her cry over me.'
The very thought of causing Nall to cry felt like a fist clamping around her heart and squeazing. She wouldn't be able to stand watching either of them grieve. But she couldn't leave, wouldn't leave.
Damn!
She'd have to watch them then...

A shiver passed through Nall's body and she nibbled at her bottom lip.

She was probably going to start crying. There was no denying that. Atambrean reached forward and drew Nall into his arms, pulling her into his chest.

Hidden in, and partially buffered by, Atambrean's arms the girl began to cry. Violently at first, her shoulders heaving and shaking with each rolling sob. After a few moments they calmed, and she remained still except for an occasional soft sniff.

Atambrean looked upwards, his eyes darkening with greif. He rubbed Nall's back reflexively. 'Sorry' he mouthed, hoping Akso understood. Yet, while his eyes showed grief internally he felt another emotion, shame. He couldn't do anything about Nall's tears, and he wasn't able to help Akso. And, the time he spent as a guardian was making this hurt most poignant.

Akso rubbed her face violently to keep from crying herself, though tears could not actually fall. Still, she felt so incredibly bad.

She stared down at the two, and saw Atam's mouthed appology. They both held grief, and it was all her fault.
Dammit!

'Christ...' She muttered softly, floating down to stand in front of the two. She crossed her arms over her chest tightly, wings pressed hard to her back. And yet, she didn't feel any of it. Then again, she had never thought ghosts could feel anyway.

'Let...let her know I can still talk with you please. Maybe...maybe it will help alittle.' Akso mentally cursed herself for letting her voice carry so much leaden emotion. There was already enough saddness and greif going around without her adding to it.

Sephnia watched Atambrean and Nall's solemn moment with apparent apathy. Inside, however, she was thinking...
This...Akso is dead? And I never got to meet her? Oh my... Pause! I have just thought of something! Hmm...I believe it would be best if I said that rather than think it...as thinking it is a tad bit redundant...
Sephnia smiled and spoke, "Death is not necessarily the end..."
She rummaged through her knapsack, coming across a black book with a strange, green design on its cover. She took the tome out and stood up from the bed.
"Perhaps I could be of service..." Sephnia offered, continuing, "I happen to be a necromancer... You know, manipulation of the dead and spirits and such... I could do several things that may be of help if you wish... I could give the spirit a worldly voice so that she may communicate with us, or perhaps let the spirit possess my body for a time so that you may work out deeds undone..."
Sephnia punctuated her offer with another evil smile.

Necromancy, of course, the realm of death magic. Not a school he himself was familiar with but one that was starting to look pretty useful considering their current situation.

Nall peered out slightly from Atambrean's arms, tear trails making shiny blotches in the areas just under her eyes. The girl didn't understand what Atambrean's friend was talking about.

"Akso's been communicating with me mentally since soon after I met you," Atambrean explained. "I don't have a problem with your magic as long as she doesn't, after all its her soul that's involved.

Nall looked up at her guardian in astonishment. She was? Really! Her eyes spoke the question louder than any words could.

Atambrean glanced down to explain more about the mental communication and found Nall to be a step ahead of him. "Yeah, she told me to tell you that too." He would have told his charge that the dark angel's soul was right above them, but then Nall would look up and Akso would see that she'd been crying. Akso probably already knew, but there was no need to dig the nails in deeper.

Nall's eyes traveled the room, trying to see if she could find some traces of the dark angel.

Akso blinked down at the strange woman and her offer.

Well...that was...convenient.

'Er...'

Akso folded her legs under her and hovered in her spiritual 'air' for a moment, pondering the options given. A 'wordly voice' sounded pretty good just then, for she'd be able to talk directly with anyone she wanted, and not just Atambrean.

The whole 'taking over someone else's body' thing kinda freaked her out to an extent. But, it was a good offer, for someone she didn't even know to make.

'Well, the voice thing does sound good Atam. I'm not sure about the whole posessing thing, but I guess I wouldn't mind if Nall or you really, really wanted me to.'

Had the situation been a little less serious Atambrean would have made a light hearted jibe about her worrying over his opinion. But, now wasn't the time, it'd be tacky and rude.

"Give her a worldly voice, we can elaborate from there if it's necessary," he relayed. If they were going to go with the possesion it'd be best if Nall got a say, and directly told Akso.

Nall glanced back at Sephnia, she was eager to see how the 'voice' thing would work.

Sephnia smiled evilly, "Ask and shall receive..."
With that, she flipped through her book, finding the right page in a couple seconds.
She spoke silently to herself for a few verses, lifting her free hand up slightly. A dark aura began to form around that hand, inching slowly down Sephnia's arm. Soon, the dark elf's entire body was nothing but a silhouette-like, completely black form with two glowing white eyes.
The necromancer spotted Akso's spirit now with the spell active.
She smiled evilly again, although the action couldn't be seen due to her tenebrous form, and stated, "Ah...there you are..."
Sephnia began to recite another spell, dull white strands of energy emitting from her spell-casting hand in the realm of the dead, meaning that Akso and Sephnia could see them, while Atambrean and Nall could not.
Sephnia finished, the strands of energy dissipating.
"Done..." Sephnia stated, "You felt nothing due to the simple fact that you are deceased...but give it a try, Akso...you shall be imbued with the voice for a full day before the spell fades..."
She glanced back at Atambrean and Nall.

Akso blinked at the odd whispy tendrils of the magick that invaded the spiritual realm to give her voice.

True, she did feel nothing, and simply blinked for a few seconds after the dull tendrils had dissapeared. Sephnia's words brought her to the decision to try this whole talking thing out.

Well, here goes nothing.

"Testing? Testing? Coming in all right?" She asked, some of that familiar, sarcastic humor in her voice. The voice itself sounded like her, but was a bit distant and disembodied. Then again, she was a spirit and all. Guess that was to be expected.

Both Atambrean and Nall's eyes were on Sephnia when she began to work her spell. Nall's out of utter fascination and Atambrean's out of curiousity.

As soon as the dark elf mentioned that Akso could speak though, Nall's attention shifted. She looked around the room, wondering where the dark angel's voice would come from.

When she spoke Nall's eyes lit up and she grinned widely. "Akso!" she exclaimed.

Atambrean had to fight back a sigh of relief when Nall responded to Akso's test. For a moment he was worried that he'd still hear her in just his mind. "Loud and clear," he replied, glancing upwards slightly. Then he looked back at Sephnia, "Thanks er.. what's your name?"

Nall grinned ear to ear and looked around the room, still trying to pinpoint where Akso's voice was coming from. "Did you beat Bern, Akso?"

Atambrean grinned, snickered and nodded. "Likewise. I'm Atambrean, and this is Nall," he accenuated the last point by actually pointing at her.

Nall didn't seem to notice, she was more interested now in finding and talking to Akso.

"Ink?" Atambrean raised an eyebrow, and then it clicked, ding she was writing a book. "Oh, yeah. Miss Neifate's writing a book," he pointed out. "Sorry to keep you waiting," he returned his attention to Sephnia. "What did you want to ask me?"

Hmm...was it really weird to meet someone's ghost? How weird was it? Was weirdness relative? Was relativity relative? How could she be sure? Was being sure relative?
Her train of thought was interrupted by Atambrean and she came back to reality...however relative reality was.
"Ah yes..." Sephnia sat back down on the edge of the bed, taking out her pen and parchment, "Let us start... Care to tell me a little about yourself, Atambrean...?"

Ugh, that had been the WORST experiance of her life! Torture never was much fun. Well, no need for either of them to know of the horrors she went through to get Nall's voice back.

No, neither of them would ever know.

Akso blinked as Sephnia asked Atam about himself. A book??? She was writing a book?

"Er...yeah, I think I'll be going now..." She muttered. She didn't exactly want to be interviewed. Sorry, waaaay too many things in her past she'd rather not talk about.

"Floatin' out the door Nall. Come talk to me if you want." She called before phasing right through the wood and finding herself in a warped verion of the inn common room.

Nall bounced off Atambrean's lap and walked to the door so fast that she was almost running. She opened the door and looked around, still trying to find where Akso could be. "Akso?"

Atambrean raised an eyebrow, well, if that wasn't convenient. Now he wouldn't have to give Sephnia a dumbed down version of his life, one he would more than likely have to explain to Nall. Still, he didn't want to say too much, he had his secrets.

"I'm sort of a jack of all trades. I've done all sorts of things to make a living. I was working with the caravan Nall lives in until recently. Someone put a curse on Nall, and I was trying to break it. Akso was the one that broke the final seal of the curse though."

He wet his lips and nibbled a bit on the top one. There went the basics, now to see just what Sephnia wanted to know before he started rambling. "Anything specific you'd like to know?"

Akso kept a careful ear out for the other room, wanting to hear what Atam said despite herself. Oh well, so she was a snoop sometimes.

A small grin broke out as Nall appeared. "Right here kiddo. Just look up alittle." She said calmly, wishing more than anything she was alive and with them all.

Dammit.

"So, how are you liking your returned voice? Sounds pretty, from what I can tell." She said calmly. All the voices tended to be rather faint when verbally spoken. She seemed to pick up on telepathy much better.

Nall glanced upwards as Akso finished speaking, clasping her hands behind her back. "Thank you," her grin grew a little and her eyes sparkled. "It's almost kinda weird being able to talk after not being able to for so long." Nall giggled at the absurdity of the feeling.

Atambrean crossed one leg over the other, and shot a smirk in Sephnia's direction. "In retrospect, it was a simple affair. Three seals, one on her eyes, one on her ears, and one on her throat. The ones on her eyes and ears were duds though, the real target was her throat. It was also quite the b*tch to remove, I never even came close to even fracturing it. In the end Akso had to..." he cleared his throat and swallowed. "She had to...fight this-this sorceress called Bern, to get Nall's voice back. She suceeded, but.." he cleared his throat again. "You know..."

It was at that particular moment that a bit of recent history decided to reveal itself...

<center>"What am I ever going to do with you?"
"Kill me now and get it over with?"
"If you're a little patient maybe Bern will do it for you."</center>

Atambrean put a hand over his mouth in an attempt to quell the surge of nausea that bubbled within him. Tliamat's fury, it'd been a jest. Now, considering the circumstances, it seemed bitterlt cruel. He put his hand back on his lap and made an effort to contain himself. He still had part of a question hovering expectantly in his mind. Sighing a little, he elaborated. "I've no idea who did this to Nall, neither, presumably, does any of her family or anyone she lives amongst. But, the caster would have had to know, and hate Nall for it to be as effective as it was. So, one of them has to know something." Nall's guardian lifted his hand again, this time concentrating on the appendage. A silver light glowed above it and solidified into a small circular mirror strung on a purple ribbon. "Our next stop will be Nall's caravan."

Atambrean's eyebrows knitted together slightly. And when I find the bastard behind this, he thought, staring, almost glowering at the mirror. I'll make them suffer for the harm they caused Nall...and Akso.

What the Hell!?!

Akso just gaped for a moment, then began laughing, the sound eerie and ghost like. "I...I'm in purgatory..!" She giggled, and she was laughing so hard that she would have been crying if able.

Oh damn, that was rich. The good angel turned bad was stuck in purgatory as a ghost, because no one knew what the hell to do with her! That was too good. Count on her to make things complicated for the big boys!

It was a shame Sephnia had to go so soon. But, they all had business to attend to, such was life. Atambrean flipped her offered hand over and kissed it. "Likewise Miss Sephnia, good luck with your book."

Akso was still giggling, and had she needed to breath she'd be running out of air. It took her a good couple of minutes to calm before she could answer Nall's question.

Taking a deep breath, she stopped the giggles. "I don't know. I'm sort of in an in-between place since neither God nor Satan knows what to do with my soul. They can't tell where to send me, not to mention I still have strong reasons to live on earth, making me a ghost." She chortled lightly, shaking her spiritual head.

With that in mind, she took hold of Atambrean's hand and kissed it in a similar manner, saying her good-bye, "In later days..."
She walked across the room, out the door, and finally out of the hotel itself.

Judging from the distance in the sound of her voice that Akso moved back into the room, Nall walked back into it. She hopped on Atambrean's bed (since it was closer and because her guardian was already sitting on her bed).

Atambrean's eyebrow quirked at Akso's comment, and promptly regretted that he couldn't see her. He would have given her a withering look. Oh hells, he let a semblance of a withering look cross his face, she would see it. "We'll have to tell Nall's parents the good news, of course," he explained, winding the purple ribbon on the mirror around his hand.

At his answer, she nodded, then remembered they couldn't see it and stopped. "Sounds good to me. I'd like to meet Nall's family anyway. Er..." he rubbed the back of her head and thought that over.  Nall laughed, Atambrean scowled. Then his face regained some semblance of normalty. He raised his free hand in a salute: "Yes sir."

Nall bounced off Atambrean's bed and walked over to her own to sit next to Atambrean. She recognized that mirror, it was the one he always used to contact her family, she wanted to tell them the good news. Hmm she better share that bit of info with Atambrean, she pulled at his sleeve.

"Hmmm?"

"Let me tell them," Nall's eyes were aglow.

"Alright," he held the mirror at an angle where the all the parties in the room could see its smooth surface. He narrowed his eyes a bit and looked into the mirror. One whispered word later and the surface began to glow silver and ripple slightly.

It made a soft pealing sound, and another, and another. Until finally after ten or so of these rings the surface of the mirror settled and the glow faded to reveal a man with wavy hair hanging down to the middle of his neck, a goatee and a thin moustache of a deep coffee color, an angular face, bright green eyes and a small gold ring in his right ear. "Atambrean," he nodded. "Any news?"

"A little..." Atambrean's eyes glanced down at Nall.

"Father!" Nall all but chirped.

Nall's dad grinned widely, his eyes sparkling with delight. "Hello little one, it's good to hear your voice once more."

Atambrean chuckled, "You all should come to this realm for a while before we return Nicu. You've been pretty much everywhere, why not expand your repitoire?"

Nicu perked an eyebrow, looking as though he was considering it. "I'll speak with Papusza and the others and get back to you."

"You know where to find me," Atambrean winked.

The mirror shimmered and the image of Nicu vanished.

"Well, now I've got to prepare that portal," Atambrean announced, putting the mirror in his pocket.

Once all was said and done, Akso began chuckling lightly. "I'm noticing a trend of odd names here..." She mused, trying not to laugh out-right. That would be rude. Not that being rude was wrong in her book...

She buzzed around Atam, wanting to see him make this portal thingy. She then got an idea, not that it had anything to do with anything. "Tell me if you feel this." She said, and suddenly flew through Atam.

Atambrean felt very scandalized. He had no idea just what Akso did to him, or was doing to him. Orcus' bones, it was tearing him apart, expecting to feel something and then feeling nothing. Well, except the normal things one feels all the time, clothes, hair, whatever one happens to be sitting on, the sudden chill in the temperature.

He shook his head, naw, it was his mind playing tricks on him. Or was it? Great Tliamat, he shouldn't be worrying!

Nall struggled to keep from laughing, it looked like Atambrean was about to go into one of his berserker rages. "How're you gonna start the portal?" She ran a hand through her hair and swung her legs back and forth.

Atambrean glanced back at his charge and yawned, barely reaching a hand to cover his mouth. He barely got any sleep the night before, and now that he wasn't stressing too much was starting to feel it. He stood only to flop lazily on his bed and pull a blanket over his head. "Like this," he responded.

Nall giggled, "But, it's morning."

"Mornings as good a time as any," he mumbled from under the blanket.

"You're supposed to sleep at night," she chided.

Brrrr. Damn it sure got cold fast...

Atambrean curled up in a little ball, shivering. He drew the blanket, and thus the cold, closer. Muttering something not quite nice under his breath, he wrenched a hand free and put it on his forehead.

There had to be a reason for the cold, either Nall found a way to sing it colder, or worse, Akso still possesed powers with which to torture him. In either case they A) wanted his attention or (more likely) B) just wanted to antagonize him. And, as much as he would have liked to oblige them by waking up and fouling Nall's vocabulary further he simply needed to sleep, he wouldn't be in any position to prepare the portal without a good long rest.

They'd just have to suffer without him for a while. He whispered an arcane word, and went out like a light, despite the cold. After a moment he began to snore softly.

After a few more moments, a sound of a different nature came from his slightly shivering lips. "Achelya vanima."

Nall blinked a few times, setting her pillow back on her bed, she finally giggled. Atambrean was funny.

Akso snorted when Atam cheated and used his little spell. Then again, that wasn't really cheating, since she was using her own spiritual brand of magick...

She began to let the temperature rise, but blinked at the odd words. Puzzling over them, she floated back from the covers, allowing Atam peace...for now.

Floating calmly over to Nall, she 'sat' on her bed and looked at the lovely little girl. "Hey Nall, what did that mean? What he just said?" She asked, glad yet again for an earthly voice.

Nall giggled and shrugged. "I dunno, that's his special language that he speaks when he thinks no one's looking."

Atambrean twitched under the covers and Nall suddenly flung the pillow at him. It hit his midsection. He didn't move, or make a noise, or anything. Nall giggled again, "He's so lazy."

"Mmmm-"

One of Nall's eyebrows shot up, she straightened up a bit and tilted her head to the side. Was he awake? Already? How uncharacteristic of him.

"Akso, lle vanima onna."

Nall clasped her hands over her mouth to keep from shrieking with laughter. She drew her knees up to her chest and began to rock back and forth, her eyes shining with mirth. And it could only get better...

"Lle mela nat, Sephnia, stacia-ilphu, nethel lahr lisse ealas. Shan nae atar, amin nevae arsurniya."

A few squeaks of laughter burst free of Nall's hands and she flopped backwards, kicking one foot up in the air. If only she had more pillows.

Akso's face scrunched up as she heard her name in Atam's odd mumbling. She got the feeling whatever he was saying wasn't going to be something she wanted to hear.

"Dammit..." She muttered, aware she did want to know. The fact she couldn't understand it just made her frustrated.

Heeey, telepathy! Ding, ding! We have a possible solution!

Akso again accessed that odd part of her that allowed her to speak to Atam through the mind and not the voice.

'Hey, Atam! What in hell are you muttering about?'

Atambrean sighed and a grin slowly worked across his face.

Nall quelled any laughter that would have bursted free and waited patiently for anymore developments. She leaned forward a little bit so she wouldn't miss hearing anything.

One of Atambrean's silver eyebrows quirked when he heard the distinct voice of Akso within his head. That definitly wasn't part of his dream, it sounded too real to be part of the dream he was having. And what was she talking about? Him, muttering? What the...

What do you mean muttering?

Akso sighed and rubbed her spiritual temples as if to get rid of some spiritual tention in her spiritual head.

Spiritual.

'You really are out of it...' She muttered, trying to peak into his mind to see what it was he was muttering so happily about. She found it surprisingly easy to enter his mind, his sleep making the subconcious stronger. Flitting in, unable to be seen or heard, she set off to wittness what in hell he was dreaming about.

Whattaya mean? Atambrean managed to protest before Akso slipped past what remained of his concious mind.

His dreamscape had a faint layer of scented smoke, incense more than likely, drifting around it. Said smoke drifting from four censers that bobbed up and down slightly in the open air, their positions giving the dreamscape a squarish kind of perimeter. Most of it was pretty boring, just the coils of smoke and open area.

Except for the center. Which contained a purple divan. Upon which reclined Atambrean, and above Atambrean was what appeared to be Sephnia. Thankfully, both were clothed, though their lips had the appearance of being super glued together...

Akso floated through the thickly sweet scent of incense into a scene she would rather not have burned into her memory.

Talk about sucking face. That was pretty damn gross.

Akso managed to loose control of the muscle functions of her face. Her eye twitched, and both eyebrows rose, her mouth slightly agape.

Yeah, definately not something she wanted to have stuck in her mind.

Nall slipped off her bed and stalked over to Atambrean's. She ducked down at the side and reached up a hand to quickly jab Atambrean's leg.

Akso managed to pull it together, shutting her eyes and turning away partially. Clearing her throat, she rubbed the back of her neck.

Hey, at least she wasn't in the dream. "Thank God..." She muttered.

Outside Atam's mind, Akso's voice calls. "You have one sick, whistfull guardian. I'm coming out..."

However, getting out of the dream was prooving harder then getting in. "Hey, what gives?" Great, was she stuck in Atam's MIND?!?!?!?

Nall jumped when she heard Akso's voice, peeking up from her hiding spot next to the springs of the bed. Atam was sick? Uh-oh that wasn't a good thing. She bounced up to her feet and put her hand on his forehead. It was kinda warm... No! He couldn't be sick, he had to make that portal!

Back in Atambrean's head, Akso's last outburst caught the attention of Atambrean, who withdrew his hold on dream Sephnia's lips and sat up to see where the disturbance was coming from. His eyes quirked in an amusing manner, one of the eyebrows dancing up and down. Orcus' neverfull belly! What was she doing here! "Wha- what are you doing here?"

Dream Sephnia, like the real Sephnia, smiled evilly.

Back in the real world Atambrean's real eyebrow twitched. Nall poked it.

Akso jerked, her head snapping around. Both eyes were slightly wide, her face mirroring surprise. Wait...why was Atambrean looking at her???

"Erk...you can see me???" She blinked a few times, then, once again, regained some marginal resemblance of control and wiped the look from her face.

"Um, well...heh." She scratched the back of her head, trying to figure out a good why to explain why the hell she was in his dream. Wasn't that violating his privacy?
"Heh, just curious about what in the hell you were dreaming about. You muttered a bunch of crap, and the only two things I could pick out were 'Akso' and 'Sephnia'."
She gave a sheepish grin and shrugged.
"Um, and now I sorta can't leave...You're twistedly sick mind wouldn't have anything to do with that, would it?"

Somehow, the fact she was talking to Atam's subconscious worried her. How much worse could it be from Atam's conscious?
Erk, don't answer that...

"Saw you! I heard your frickin' voice!" Dream Atambrean's eye twitched again. Then he tilted his head to the side and looked to be in deep thought. "I was talking in my sleep?" He asked rhetorically, raising a questioning eyebrow.

Irk, a bit of color spread across his face.

Dream Sephnia stretched both arms above her head, looking bored with the whole ordeal. She crossed one leg over the other and stared off into the misty expanse that made up the rest of the dreamscape.

In an effort to stop thinking about what he could have slipped when he was talking aloud dream Atambrean considered why Akso would be stuck in his dream. He smirked and shrugged, "Who knows, it could very well be so."

Akso's facade dropped and her eye twitched again at his smug answer. "I don't suppose you'd like to correct that problem?"
Oh, like hell he would. She honestly didn't want to get stuck in this freakish fantasy world of Atam's.

Almost instinctually Akso floated into the air with a small flap of her wings and folded her legs under herself indian style, crossing her arms over her chest.
She then blinked and looked down at herself. She was dressed as she usually was, and looked like she had...the last time Atam saw her.
What a mood spoiler of a thought...

A sudden thought then occured she was careful to keep secret. If this was Atam's dreamscape, he could make anything happen that he wanted to.
Oh lord, please don't let him remember that small fact just now!!! Not while she was stuck here!!!

Dream Atambrean raised an eyebrow and smirked, "Now why would I want to do that?" Then he scowled, just a little.

This was a first for him, whatever if ever he was doing to keep Akso within his dream was unknown to Nall's guardian. Geez, and having her here was ackward. He narrowed his eyes and summoned a chalice in the air before him, took it from the air and drained it. Thank Tliamat alcohol didn't have the same effects in a dream that it did in real life.

Wait a minute...didn't have the same effects in a dream that it did in real life. Maybe this was part of the dream. A smile that would have done the real life Sephnia proud slipped across his lips.

And speaking of Sephnia, dream Sephnia shifted a little on the couch, picking at her robe like it was itchy.

When her fist actually thunked rather forcfully against his skull, she blinked.
"Heeey, I can touch you??"

It was Akso's turn to grin maliciously.
"Cool."
She cranked back for another blow. She'd been waiting for a good opportunity to beat on him anyway.

"Come on, stay still! This may be my only chance to beat on you for awhile! Remember, ghost's can't exactly beat you up!"

With that, she lunged at Atam, aiming to basically tackle him into the ground.

Stay still? Was she mad?? Dumb question...but, still! Did she really expect him to stay in one place and get pounded?!

Unfortunatly through all his subconscious ramblings he wasn't paying much attention to what Akso was doing and thus was pounced on.

Doomed, I'm f*cking doomed, I'm gonna get pulverized in my own dream. Atambrean squeezed his eyes tight and prepared for the worst.

Ding! Idea! It wasn't a good idea but it might buy him a little time. "Funny how ironic dreams can be, first Sephnia was on top of me and now you are."

Akso was somewhat surprised he didn't at least get out of the way, thus causing her to find a happy little sitting space....on his chest. Well, that worked out nicely.
"Thank you for you cooperation." She said sweetly, aiming a good face punch.

Of course, damnable Atam had to say something crude. But it had the desired effect, and instead of punching Atam, Akso glared at him. "Different circumstances. I'm sitting on your chest so I can beat the crap out of you. Sephnia was glued to your face." She growled.

Well, it worked... Now what would he do?

One thing came to mind, a simple solution actually, so glaringly simple that it hadn't been obvious before. Waking up.

Dream Atambrean closed his eyes tight, concentrating on waking up. Anytime now he'd be feeling the covers wrapped around his body and more than likely feel his head being pulverized by a pillow weilded by Nall. Only, he didn't feel the covers, or a pillow, or the frigid air that surrounded him when he went to sleep. What he did feel was the semipermanancy of the dream floor, and Akso sitting on his chest.

The sleep spell... It hadn't worn off yet. Dream Atambrean groaned in frustration, trying to think of a way to keep his subconcious body intact. Circumstance quickly bore fruit to one. And it was even stupider than the last one, but it was worth a try. Even if it failed she would need a moment to register it. That is if Akso didn't just ignore him and beat the daylights out of him.

"Uh, why are you going to beat the crap out of me?"

Akso blinked when Atambrean decided to shut his eyes. He looked to be concentrating. On what...?

When she realized he was trying to wake up, and thus robbing her of her one chance to cream him, she took measures to stop it.

Sliding down to his stomach, she grabbed a fist full of his shirt with each hand and yanked him up to face level, shaking him. "Don't you wake up...!!"

And apparently he didn't. So Akso blinked again.

His question earned a puzzled look before she decided on, to her, a reasonable answer. "Because you deserve it. Not to mention I can't torment you as a ghost. Well, I can haunt you, but that's about it."
She still had a firm grip on his shirt.

Dream Atambrean blinked. He deserved being beaten like a drum? Now wouldn't be the best time to think on the way Akso's mind processed things though, seeing as he was probably about to receive a bout of punishment for something he wasn't even sure he did.

Wait a second... he glanced downwards a moment. "If you're going to give me the beating I so richly deserve would you mind adminstering it from some place other than my lap?"

HOLY SH!T!!!

This mentally realization was also verbalized.

"HOLY SH!T!!!"

She bounced off him, then punched him smartly in the side of the head.
Seemed violence was her solution to everything, including embarassment.

After getting herself out of the uncomfortable 'danger-zone', she decided that punch had felt good. So, she clocked him again and then rested her hands on her hips, smirking calmly.

For a moment Atambrean thought he was safe.

He thought too soon. Akso's blows almost knocked the sense out of him (provided there was some left to knock out), and he put a hand to the side of his face where she hit first.

That didn't work out very well... I should have kept my trap shut, then she would have at least been sitting in my lap while she pummled me. he thought, rubbing his aching head and scowling a little. This was the only time that he could remember actually wanting to be awake. If only he could dispell the sleep spell while he was dreaming. It was worth a ponder.

Akso felt much better, having beaten on Atam enough for now. Hands still on her hips, she took a moment to glance around Atam's dreamed up world.

There was one thing she was greatful for. Her body and clothing were intact, and Atambrean did not have to suffer through seeing her as she was when she died.

Just the thought made her shiver slightly.

Re-adjusting her white trench coat, she slowly began walking around, arms crossed over her chest. Wings twitching, she turned back to Atam, eyebrow arched. "As ah, 'nice' as this place is, I'd like to leave now. And since this is YOUR dream, you're the only one, unfortunately, who can do that."

She tapped one boot-clad foot on the floor, watching his sitting form calmly.

The irony of the situation sat on Atambrean's shoulder like a heavy brick. It was his dream and he couldn't even wake up. He scowled and leaned backwards a little. He couldn't think of a charm that would dispel a sleep spell in a sleep spell. It would probably stay in effect until his body was well rested. Damn, he just hoped that wouldn't be too long.

And then there was Akso. If she was sent out there was no telling what she'd do to his actual body. Here she could always beat him within an inch of his life, but the wounds were psychosomatic...or at least he hoped they were.

He conjured another glass of dream wine for himself and sipped at it. "What if I don't want you to leave," he said teasingly his scowl turning to a smirk. Hells if she was going to beat him then he could mess with her head.

Akso's crimson eye twitched visably. "Are you a glutton for punishment? Honestly." She began stalking towards him. There was no better word for it. She just had one of those 'I'm going to kill you' looks on her face.

Stomping up to his spot on the floor, she glared at him for a moment, one eyebrow arched. Then, suddenly, she snatched the wine glass from him. Staring into the liquid for a moment, she shrugged an downed it in one gulp. "Since it's just a dream," She started after making a satisfied 'ahh' sound "I guess alchohol is safe. I'll never drink alchohol in real life again." She smirked. "Really bad things come of it."
She dropped the glass in his lap.
"Anyay, I'm getting the feeling you don't know HOW to get me out of here." She gave him a questioning look, a smug smirk still on her features.

Atambrean grinned innocently at Akso when she gave him a death glare, and took another sip of his wine.

Then Akso stomped over and took his glass. He frowned a little, tilting his head to the side after she announced cutting off alcohol completely. Seemed an odd thing to do, take a swig of dream wine and then decide never to touch it again. After she deposited the glass in his lap he picked it up and refilled it. "Suit yourself," he responded, tipping the glass in her direction before taking a sip.

At her last statement his lips pulled back in a smirk. "I can send you back, and I just might if you ask me nicely."

And again, she snatched his glass away and enjoyed it's contents. This time, she didn't finish it as quickly, nor did she give it back to him once she was done.

His answer obviously was not the one she wanted to hear. And Atam was about to regreat having said it.
Suddenly, Akso's boot was planted firmly in Atam's pretty little face. She leaned foreward, balancing herself easily and resting an arm on her bent knee.

Smirking, she twirled the glass around her fingers skillfully.

Then Akso introduced him to her sole and he almost toppled over, keeping himself up with an arm. Atambrean scooted back a ways to free himself and rubbed his nose. "I'm honored, you actually want to spend time with me," he conjured another wine glass, soon changing it to a flask of brandy, and took a sip of it.

At his statement, she blinked and frowned, becoming serious for a moment. "Hey, who ever said I didn't mind spending time with you? It's only when you're being an ass that I have to put you in your place." She then smirked. "And you're an ass most of the time, sooo..."
She shrugged and set the glass down, still smirking in her odd way.

Leaning back on her elbows, she again changed position and stretched her legs out in front of her, crossing them at the ankle calmly.
Good to be whole again...
She thought to herself, blowing some of her blue tipped hair from her eyes.
She examined Atam for a moment and then frowned, tilting her head to the side. "I never thought to ask but, what exactly are you?"

Ah a question, that was a nice change of pace. Even if the question was one he dreaded hearing. He drummed the fingers of one hand on the flask of brandy, his eyes suddenly widening a little.

"Good to know we can be honest with each other." Akso stated coldly, her crimson gaze having gone flat as glass and just as piercing.

"Do you want to know what the @#%$ happened to me in that castle? Hmm? Would you like to have @#%$ nightmares for the rest of your pretend life?" Her voice remained in that same hissing chill, a sound only a dark angel could manage. "I found it odd you did not at least ask what happened. I am, after all, dead. Dead Atambrean Dieire. That means I am not coming back."
She paused for a moment.
"Always loved the saying 'the truth hurts', because that's what it does."

She suddenly sniffed a bit and hung her head, short hair hardly hiding her pained expression. One got the distinct feeling she was crying.
"She mutilated me..." She whispered so very, very softly.

Akso's sudden change in mood caught Atambrean off guard. After her statement his eyes narrowed. The urge to snap back rose like a bitter cobra in his throat, beckoning him to anger. He willed the flask away, stood and crossed his arms.

Then she sniffed and lowered her head. Atambrean stalled, forgetting what he was going to say. For a moment he stood in stunned silence, almost as if he'd been frozen the moment Akso hid her eyes.

Dammit, she had him.

He whirled around, glaring at the couch with a gaze full of daggers. "This is why I didn't ask," he sighed, his eyes softening somewhat. "I didn't want to remind you of a death you didn't deserve. It was my duty to break Nall's curse, and if breaking that curse required a sacrifice it should have been me."

Akso sniffed as softly as she could. She hated crying, especially in front of someone she knew. She was supposed to be tougher than this.

But...it hurt...so badly...

Tears, hot and heavy, were quickly streaking down her face, her head still hung dejectedly. She pulled her knees to her chest and hugged them as tightly as she could for comfort, completely hiding her face behind them.

His answer, so full of sudden anger, made her wince. She was glad for the slight cooling of his next words from the heat of the others. "Like hell it was only your job. You're all she has right now Atam. I was expendable. I didn't have much reason not to make that sacrifice. Nall loosing you would have been ten times worse than...my death." She sniffed again, shaking her head. "Besides, you really don't want to know what she did to me...what she would have done to you....It's my nightmare now..."
Her voice had gone quiet and hoarse, face still hidden as much as she could manage. She continued to hug her own legs for her comfort, wings draped about her shoulders.

Atambrean lifted a hand and rubbed the space between his eyebrows. He wasn't prepared for this, how could he have been prepared for it? Part of his mind warned against trying to get her change her mind. Akso was stubborn, there probably wasn't anything he could say or do that would change her mind.

But, that approach was...frustrating. She was over there drowning in misery over the significance of her death and he had his back turned to her, like an ass. He had to do something, then at least he could say that he tried. However, he didn't want to chance turning around though, just in case there were any lingering elements of anger on his face.

We wouldn't be in the this situation if I could have just broken that damned curse he thought bitterly.

He sighed, "Stop talking like that. I've known Nall since she was a baby and I've never seen her cry as hard as she did when I told her you were dead. She adores you, that's why she wants to dress like you, now that she can talk again she'll probably start talking like you. You've had a better influence on her then I can ever have. She may learn a few new words and why not to pick up drinking from me, but Akso, from you she learned how to be strong."

The silence was heavy, as it tended to be when neither party can think of something to say. She hated feeling so depressed, so...useless. But she couldn't help it. She was dead for Christ's sake! She was allowed to be emotional!

She listened to his words, still aware of the fact he wasn't facing her. She snorted at the end, though it sounded weak. "I don't think Nall taking after me is a good thing Atambrean. I've never seen myself as a good role model for young girls."
Flashes of Nall's crying face blinked before her eyes. Nall had attatched herself so strongly to Akso...Sometimes she wasn't sure if such a close bond was a good thing. She wasn't a good influence on kids...or at least, that was her opinion.
"...I'm glad Nall's strong...alot stronger than myself..." She murmured after a moment, lifting her head slightly to stare at the ground with blurred eyes.
She then shut those stinging eyes, too many waves of emotion shocking her system, too much...too much...

"I DON'T WANT TO BE DEAD!!!"

When Akso began speaking again Atambrean shifted slightly so he was standing at an angle of sorts, partially facing her and partially facing the couch. He was about to respond to her when she suddenly screamed.

That caught him off guard, he jumped, loosing his footing and stumbling onto the couch. He pulled himself into a sitting position and took several deep breaths to calm his racing heart. His iris' were all but drowned by the whites of his eye and the pupils, ending up as slight rings of color.

Silence settled around them again. Atambrean had no idea what to say or do, he couldn't focus on the situation. His mind raced about how absurd it was to get scared in a dream, how absurd it was to have sudden guests in a dream, and bent out on many other tangents, always ignoring the situation that brought them on.

Sobbing. She was sobbing. Her shoulders shuddered with the force of it, tears pouring in torrents down her tanned face. Her wings drooped pitifully, resting against the dreamed up ground.
Her arms were limp at her sides, head bowed over her lap.
And she sobbed.

"I was just starting to...to care alittle...for you...and Nall..." her voice was strained, cracking through her sobs.
"But she took it away! She took it away...something I'd never had before...."
She shook her head slowly, eyes pressed as tightly shut as she could manage. Still, heavy drops of salt water seeped through to land in her lap.
"I'm....I'm sorry...you can go back to..." she laughed softly, trying to stop the tears, "go back to sucking face with whoever...."

She concentrated hard on pulling into herself and leaving Atam and his dreams in peace. Her sudden overwhelming grief and pain was something he didn't need...and by the looks of it didn't want either. She found that hurt the most...his aversion to her sudden emotional spring.

Slowly, her form began to mistify and flow through the flooring, as if she was no longer anything substantial. She was a ghost...a ghost....
a ghost.

"Dammit!" Atambrean flopped back on the couch and slammed his fist into one of the cushions on the couch. Congrats Atambrean, I think you were just promoted to full time ass.

He crossed his eyes, sitting up and propping a foot on the couch while looping an arm over the top of it, bringing the other hand up to his eyebrows. All that care she had for me before now is probably gone to ice. I can't seem to do or say anything right with that woman. All I do either gets me clobbered or yelled at. He sighed, lowered his hand and leaned against his upraised arm. I wish I knew what to do.

Back in the waking world Nall was sitting behind Atambrean's head. She managed to pry the blanket away from him and was now calmly braiding a slightly ragged purple ribbon in his hair. Part of his hair was secured in a bow, making a half pigtail of sorts, and throughout it were countless little braids both secured and braided with the ribbons, her scarf-belt was secured in a bow around Atambrean's neck. A mischeivous grin played across the girl's features and she tied the braid closed, reaching into a little pile of ribbons at her side and picking a few smaller peices to tie in bows up and down the new braid.

Akso's ghost form calmly misted from Atambrean's form and resolidified out in the open air. She hovered for a moment, watching Nall, and smiled. The smile, however, was saddened.
As a ghost, she couldn't technically cry, so all marks of liquid from her sobbing inside Atam's head were gone. Not that anyone could see them anyway.

She had something to do. She didn't want to do it....

She slowly began to form the pile of ribbons at Nall's side into words, concentrating on making her fingers real enough to move the light pieces of cloth. Only to her, they weren't light. It was like trying to shift huge boulders using thin string.
Painstakingly she worked, until a single word stood before her.
The only one she would say for now.

Bye

It was time to go back to that horrid castle. Back to her charred remains. Back to her broken blade.
Perhaps, there, she could find some answers for herself.

Her spirit slowly lifted from the room, shifting through the ceiling and breaking into the sky above. Unfurling her ghostly wings, she took off towards the horizon, knowing what she'd find there.
She prayed that Atam and Nall be kept safe in her leave.

When Nall went for another ribbon she saw their slight, almost innoticeable movement. At first she turned to the window, but it was closed. Frowning somewhat she turned back to the pile of ribbons, which were now starting to have some logic in their movements, part of the pile looked like a letter 'B'. Intrigued she leaned forward a little and watched the rest of the ribbons shift until they finally stopped and the word was revealed.

Bye.

Nall's eyes widened and she drew back a little. How did that get there? She looked around the room, crawled off the bed and walked around it once to look further. Atam was still sleeping, so who could that be? Akso!

She rushed back to the bed and looked at the message again, hoping to see some other part. I'll be back soon, or something of that nature. What if she wasn't coming back? Nall's shoulders drooped, maybe all the time she spent as a ghost was over and she had to go where people went when they died. She flopped over, staring at the ribbon-letters in disbelief. Akso couldn't be gone, she came back the first time, shouldn't she come back again? Nall shivered and drew up into a little ball.

----

A couple hours passed, and with a slight groan Atambrean came around, moving a hand to rub the sleep out of his eyes.

Nall started and sat up quickly, rubbing her eyes with one hand and pulling the ribbon-letters up with the other. After doing that she plopped on Atambrean's chest and did her best to smile. "Sleep well?"

Atambrean grunted. "Not really."

Nall frowned a little. "Are you gonna be able to make the portal?"

"I don't know, give me an hour to wake up first."

"You had enough hours to sleep."

"Can't you give me an extra one to wake up then?" Atambrean grinned.

Nall put a hand on her chin and pretended to think it over.

While she was 'thinking' Atambrean's pocket made a pealing noise. In fact it began pealing at noticeable intervals. Nall bounced off Atambrean's chest and gave his pocket a quick glance. "Your pants are beeping," she pointed out.

Atambrean reached into his pocket and produced the mirror, its surface glowed and rippled like it did earlier when he called Nall's father. It's surface faded, though this time instead of Nall's father it held a woman's face. She was young, too young to be Nall's mother (she did however, resemble Nall a little), with straight, dark brown hair and eyes. Her eyes widened and an eyebrow shot up.

"Atambrean..." she glanced side to side quickly. "Your hair is....interesting."

Atambrean's face soon mirrored the woman's face. "What do you mean?" He reached up and patted his hair gently, finding the pigtail and the braids.

Nall giggled and hid the hand with the ribbons behind her back.

Atambrean scowled at her and pulled away the ribbon holding his hair up so he didn't look quite so ridiculous.

"Is that Nall?" The woman asked, her face still containing some surprise.

"Who else would it be Kayia?" Atambrean winked at her.

A smile stretched briefly across Kayia's face and her eyes glinted. "Let me talk to her Atambrean, sister to sister."

"Sure," He held the mirror out to Nall, but when she reached for it he pulled it back. The game proceeded until Nall tackled Atambrean and pried the mirror from his hand. Atambrean snickered and got up, walking to the mirror so he could fix his hair, and as he soon discovered his necklace.

Nall's eyes lit up when she secured the mirror and she began to give a lengthy description of her and Atambrean's travels, which soon branched off into her and Akso's misadventures. As she was talking the girl tried to keep her voice from cracking or her eyes from suddenly misting up. Maybe if she pretended Akso was still here she would come back.

Atambrean pulled the last ribbon from his hair and put it on the pile he fished out. Nall would probably be talking with her sister forever, and he didn't particularly care to listen in on them. He could loiter around the outside of the inn, that would do for a little while. "I'll be back," he announced, striding out the door.

Whether Nall heard him or not was unknown, she kept talking to her sister, this time telling her about Akso burning Atambrean's hair.

 This damnable castle. This castle...
Akso shivered as she stared at it. Big and black, it looked to be crumbling without Bern's magick to hold it up after eons of existence.
Ghostly wings flapping, Akso carefully shifted through the thick stone walls in the highest chamber.
The room where all those horrors had played out sat before her, unchanged. The gaping hole in the wall oposite her stared openly, caused by her own attack.
Shifting her gaze around the circular space, she finally found that which she had been looking for...and dreading to see.

The site was as gruesome as she had expected, and more so. She fought the urge to vomit, despite being a ghost and being inable to do so. Floating over, she stared at the remains...
Her body and Berns were literally melted together, everything black and charred. The blob of crusted ash did not even remotely resemble bodies. Laying close by was her broken sword, it's spirit released.
Akso was puzzled by this. Who would...

"Hello again, sister."

Kayia laughed, it sounded somewhat forced. "How clever."

"You think?" Nall smiled widely.

Kayia made an 'mmm'-ing sound. "Sounds like you've been having fun with Atambrean, and this Akso person."

Nall tilted her head to the side and raised her eyebrows, there was something in her sister's voice. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just don't know how wise it is to trust a complete stranger so readily..."

"Akso's not a stranger," Nall countered quickly. "She's my friend, I feel safe knowing she's around."

"Guess Atambrean isn't doing his job," Kayia snickered slightly.

"He is, Akso's just....better. Better at keeping me safe.... Atambrean is better at...other things."

"Is he now," Kayia drawled. "Bet Mum and Dad will love to hear that."

"Are you gonna tell," Nall said softly. She was starting to regret even bringing up the issue.

"Nah, can't go telling Mum and Dad everything now," Kayia grinned mischeivously.

Nall beamed a smile into the mirror.

Akso twirled around, glaring at the form of Seth. Her 'brother'.
Seth grinned, arms crossed, brushing some of his white tipped black hair back from his face.
Akso was confused...he could see her? Odd...
"What do you want Seth??" Akso growled dangerously, not sure if he could still attack her even in a ghostly form.
Seth shrugged and held up his hands, palms facing himself. "I'm not here to attack you. I'm here to...help." The last word sounded strained.

"Oh? How, pray tell, do you intend to help me? I'm dead." Akso spat, venom in her voice. For once, Seth looked ashaned. "I am truly, truly sorry for it. Of course you would never accept my appology, but I am giving it to you. And, I am also giving you something else..."
He stepped forward, closer to her spirit.
Akso shied away, watching him warily.
"I want to give you my body. My soul has lived long enough, and your body was stolen from you. So...take it."
Before Akso could answer, Seth lunged at her, his spirit suddenly flung at her just seconds before his body.
She felt a horrid sucking sensation, painful, ripping at her soul.
And then...
She was laying on the cold stone floor, staring at the ceiling.
"I never thought I'd say this but...thanks Seth." She mumbled, noticing her voice was deeper. It was Seth's voice....

"Some town people can be so naive," Kayia mused, wrapping up what was probably a tale about an event that happened while Nall was away.

Nall giggled. "What happened after that?"

"I don't know if he found out that the knife was a fake, if he did he didn't say anything about it while we were there."

"You think he'll find out?"

"He probably did, but was too prideful to make a big deal out of it," Kayia smirked. "Some men live for their pride."

"Atambrean doesn't, he lives for his sleep," Nall grinned.

Kayia shook her head somewhat. "That and other things."

"Nah, I'd say it was sleep only. He really really likes to sleep."

Akso took a moment to gather her wits and learn about Seth's body. It was taller than her own, and a bit more heavily muscled. She decided not to even go into the fact she was now male. That little tid-bit would be dealt with at another time.

Akso felt alittle odd about Seth's sudden wanting to help. She decided to keep her guard up, just in case something odd happened.
Then again, when you're in someone else's body, how much of a guard can you have??

Akso slowly stood, taking sweat time in not falling over. Seth's center of gravity was a bit different too. She looked at herself, blinking slowly, and wondered how Atam and Nall would react. Ooo, probably not too good. She was still wearing boots, though they had metal clasps on them to keep them on, instead of laces. She wore baggy black pants, and a black shirt that was tight around the midsection, but had slightly baggy sleeves that again became tight around the wrists. Three silver buttons adorned the neck of the shirt, and at the moment it was buttoned all the way up, covering her neck completely. Silver swirls decorated the shirt, though the pants were pure ebony.
She was surprised to notice her sword was the double blade yet again, and it did not pull on her strength to have out. It was just...there.

Shivering, for no apparent reason, Akso shook Seth's head and let his wings burst forth, they being white with blue tips, where hers had been black. A few feathers landed softly on the floor, but she was already gone.
Short white tipped black hair flew around her face, and she was entranced by the gentle feeling, and the whipping of the wind as she flew. She could feel again.

And, in the distance, she quickly saw the silhouette of the village, and picked up the pace, silver speckled green eyes narrowed against the wind. She landed just outside the inn, and her wings retracted in their usual spray of blood. She was already in the building and in front of Nall and Atam's room by the time the wound had started to heal.
Now, what to say??

"I've gotta go Nall," Kayia said, glancing side to side. "Mum and Dad don't know I'm talking to you. I'll see you when we get there."

Nall's face brightened up. "You're coming here?"

Kayia nodded, and the screen winked, the mirror becoming a mirror once again. Nall put the mirror down and looked around. Atambrean said that he was going to step out while she was talking. But, what were the odds he stepped out? Stepping out for Atambrean usually meant wandering around. She jumped off the bed and walked to the window.

The window didn't face the door of the hotel and thus she couldn't see if Atambrean had just stepped out. She sighed and walked back to her bed. Being alone made her think about Akso's farewell written in the ribbons. She never let the ribbons go, all throughout her conversation she had them clenched in her hand. Nall flopped back on the bed and kicked a leg up in the air. She hoped Akso wasn't going to be gone long, or forever.

Akso took a deep breath, noting the fact Nall's sweat voice had stopped within the room. She figited lightly, glancing around nervously. She really wanted this to go as smoothly as possible, though she doubted her wish would be granted.

Finally, she took a deep breath and spoke. Her voice was still Seth's but she did her best to soften it without making it too light to hear. "Nall?" She began, pressed close to the door. "Let me in, it's Akso. And ah, don't scream, because I know how I look." She hoped it didn't sound too absurd. She really needed to try to explain this all to Nall. She just hoped the girl would be willing to listen despite Akso's 'new look'.

Eh? A voice. Nall bounced up and looked at the door. No, it was more than a voice, it was a voice that claimed to be Akso. Maybe it was Akso?

She bounced off her bed and walked toward the door. The voice was a little weird, maybe Akso got another voice and the voice just sounded weird. If that was the case then wouldn't she just float through the door? This was getting weird...

Now the girl was at the door. She could either open it or stay behind the door and ask questions. Akso said something about knowing how she looked, and not to scream. Was she scary now? If it wasn't Akso would they take the time to tell her not to scream and that they knew how they looked? Would they even know her name? And Akso's name?

Slowly she opened the door, and had to bite her tongue to keep from screaming. Her eyes widened, the black swamping the green, and she backed up. Her throat twisted up so the next sound she was planning, a call for Atambrean, got caught and strangled. It was Akso's brother...he was a bad guy. She backed up until she got to Atambrean's bed and then shrank down into a little ball, looking up at Akso/Seth fearfully. Her heart was thumping rapidly and her stomach felt as though someone was tying it in a bow.

The initial wave of fear washed away, leaving a slight feeling of nausea. The twisting sensation in her throat dimmed somewhat, so she could probably get some sound through. "What do you want?" she barely managed to whisper, most of the volume getting lost in the tangles in her throat.

Akso noted every change in Nall's facial expression as she opened the door and stared up at Seth's young face. Akso felt sick to her stomach as she watched the horror and fear sweep across Nall's cute little face.
Green eyes splashed with silver followed the girl's backward retreat, and then moved down with her as she curled up.

Akso swayed in the doorway, not wanting to intrude but not wanting to stay out, either. "I know, I know, I look like Seth." She muttered, looking down at her boots. Her head snapped back up relatively quickly. "But it really is me, Akso, I promise. You see..." She desperately wanted to spill the whole story so Nall would understand. But she knew the rapid speech and bewilderment of the situation would only frighten and confuse Nall more.

"Remember when Atam drank too much and was barfing all over the place? And then we were sparing...and you found the cute frog? And my ghost, how you could hear my voice but not see me. And the ribbons...I wrote 'bye' for you so you wouldn't be afraid." Seth's face was one of sadness as she tried to prove herself. Tried to prove it really was her. "It's me, Akso. I promise Nall."

Nall looked up somewhat, now extremely confused. Wouldn't Akso's brother walk in and try to hurt her instead of talking to her and trying to get her to believe he was Akso? She remained curled up.

Then Seth/Akso began to talk about stuff they did. Atam getting sick, the frog, them sparring, her ghost. Those things dented into her wall of fear and confusiong, breaking little cracks in its shell. It was the ribbons that shattered it, really made her believe that it was Akso. Only Akso could have known about the words in the ribbons. Only Akso.

THe green in her eyes slowly began to swallow the black pupils and a little smile came across her face. That smile began growing at a faster and faster pace. She came back, she really really came back. The 'bye' wasn't forever. Her eyes began to sparkle, not with tears, but with pure simple joy. Nall uncurled herself and stood up, her smile once again threatening to extend off her face. She walked a few steps forward and then all but flew at Akso and hugged Seth's legs. "I'm...I'm glad you're back," she squeaked.

Akso waited, every muscle in Seth's body tense, as Nall decided if she was going to believe the words thrown at her or not. A sigh of relief escaped her new lips as Nall grinned and slowly stood. She believed her...Thank God she believed her...

Akso laughed as the ever-smiling Nall launched and attatched herself to Seth's legs. She quickly grabbed Nall up and craddled her close, smiling in an almost familiar way. "I'm glad I'm back too, despite the body, heh. Wonder what Atam will think?" She mused, smirking. It was the smirk that gave it away. Only Akso could smirk in such a way, even with different facial muscles.

Nall appered to consider the thought of what Atambrean would think quite seriously. She pursed her lips a little in thought and glanced upward, reaching a hand up to tap at her chin. Then she began to giggle, and after doing so for a few minutes looked back up at Akso with bright shining eyes. "His eyes will probably pop out of his head," she confessed.

Speaking the thought aloud seemed to have a similiar effect to thinking it and once again Nall was giggling. She couldn't help it though, in her mind she could see a scenario that involved Atambrean walking back into the room and his eyes almost popping out of his skull from the utter shock of a) seeing Akso back, b) seeing Akso back as a man and c) seeing Akso in the body of her brother.

Akso could not help but laugh at the thought. It was Seth's voice that rumbled forth, but it was still her laugh, her characteristic noise.
"Yeah, I'd say that's a good guess." She responded with a grin, happily listening to Nall's giggle. Overwhelmed with some warm feeling only a child can create, Akso hugged the child closer, smiling.
"Wow, It's good to be back..." She murmured.
In the back of her head, however, she wondered if Atam would try and attack her. She was, after all, in Seth's body. And Seth was an ass.
Hmm, that might not be a good turn of events, actually.

Nall suddenly had a devious grin across her face. "I hope Atambrean comes back soon, it'd be fun to see his eyes pop out of his head," she mused.

The thinking look came back over Nall's face soon after she finished thinking. "Maybe we could go out and get him," she announced after a moment of thought. "He said he would just be out in front of the hotel."

Akso laughed again at Nall's devious little comment. "Oh my, I think I'm having a bad effect on you Nall!" She then grinned. "Wonderful."
It was odd hearing Seth's voice say everything she said, feel his mouth move in place of hers. It truly was an odd, out of body feeling, despite again being anchored to flesh and blood and bone.
This would definitely take some getting used to.

Again silver sparkled green eyes turn back to Nall. Just out in front...yeah, snowball's chance in hell that was what he was doing.
"Well, I suppose we can go see. Though I somehow doubt he might actually be out there. Sneaky..." She let her sentence trail off, not wanting to tarnish Nall's mind with any more unpleasant words. Heh, she'd done enough damage as it was.

Nall grinned innocently at Akso's claim of having a bad effect on her. She liked Akso's effect, bad or not it was fun.

Her eyes lit up when she pondered checking out front and she nodded at the part about him wandering off. Then, it almost sounded like Akso cut her sentence off... Nall's eyes widened a little in curiousity. Grown people had an odd tendency to do that, it was amusing but, she always wondered why they didn't finish what they were saying. She giggled. "I think Atam should just say that he's gonna go off, instead of saying that he'll stay in a certain place."

Akso again laughed Seth's laugh. "Yeah, that'd make everything a hell of alot easier." She agreed, nodding lightly. "Well, I suppose we should go see. Come on, overly cute one."
With that she grinned and easily scooped Nall up.

Calmly kicking the door open, Akso marched Seth's body right to the front door and repeated her loud method of opening doors with a swift kick. Now outside, she squinted lightly, and looked around.
"Come out come out wherever you are..." She mused softly, smirking.

Akso's method of opening doors caught a few stares from people passing the inn, but not one of them was Atambrean. There was no sight of Nall's guardian anywhere near the inn.

Nall pouted a little and then looked up at Akso. "Is Atambrean going to be walking funny when he comes back? Like when we were here that first night?"

Akso prowled around with her eyes once more, but there was no sign of the idiotic guardian. Damn! Ugh, it was just like him to wander off without telling anyone...
Akso sighed, Seth's silver speckled eyes crossing in annoyance. "I dunno. If he's been drinking again, then probably."
She was going to have to punch him one good for this.

Glancing down at Nall, Akso/Seth grinned. "Eh, who needs the bumb. We can have fun on our own." Let's see how he likes not knowing where they were. "Let's go get some candy!"
It had been way too long since she'd had candy! She she bet Seth had never had any before in his life, so it would be interesting to see what his mouth thought of the sugary goodness.

Any thoughts that Nall would have had regarding Atambrean, drinking or any of the google-plex of other things that could have crossed her mind were wiped away once Akso said the 'C' word. The thought of having candy again so soon was exciting! She grinned widely, her eyes shining in approval.

"Yeah," she gushed. "We can get some and eat it all by ourselves. We shouldn't give Atam any since he wandered off, right Akso."

Akso laughed, Seth's voice boomed out instead. Still, she grinned, getting more and more used to Seth's body as time went on. Not even an hour and she was already starting to get the hang of his muscles. Good stuff.
"Yeah, we'll be greedy and keep it all to ourselves." She agreed with a chuckle.

Without further ado, Akso turned on her heel and headed for the first shop she knew to hold candy. This would be oh-so-good. Sweeping into the shop, she looked around and grinned.
Mmm...candy.
"Let's get started!"

"Yeah!" Nall agreed enthusiastically. Having so much candy twice in a week was a treat beyond belief for Nall. She looked at all the bins of candy and grinned, trying to find something she hadn't had before. Which, given Nall's limited experience with candy included quite a few items.

-*-*-*-*-*-*

Atambrean wasn't sure how he got out of the tavern. He remembered sitting with an attractive red haired woman and drinking an ale. Usually he had no reason to fear one little ale, even if it was a strong brew he could usually handle quite a few before he wasn't sure which way was up. The next memory he had was waking up to the barmaid standing over him and looking mighty ticked. His head was in agony and it was like all the bones in his body turned to elastic. Through the haze of the barmaid's chatter after he came too he figured that she wanted some coin, which somehow he was able to conjure to get the squaking harpy to leave him alone.

Apparently his companion was trying to get him drunk so she could rob him blind. He hadn't had any jewelry on his person so she must have bought a few rounds for the entire bar or something while he was unconscious. After a moment of lying with his head plastered to the table they had been sitting at he tried lifting it, which was about as succesfull as trying to scratch out of a concrete box. After some time, minutes, hours, days, years, he wasn't sure how much time passed his head felt a little lighter and he was able to lift it off the table. Though, it was somewhat still connected to the table, since a line of spit ran down his mouth and joined with a small puddle that was already there. Disgusted, he reached a hand up to wipe the trail away. But, that small action disorientated him and he flopped into the wall, hitting his head hard enough for him to see sparks. His groan of pain didn't attract any attention and for another indeterminate amount of time he stayed with his head all but glued to the wall. The impact didn't hurt as much as he thought it would...unless it was so greivous that the part of brain underneath it was totally and utterly destroyed. Yaldaboath help me...

Yaldaboath was apparently on her coffee break, since she didn't give any sign of hearing Atambrean's oath of misery. Eventually he grew brave enough to sit up straight again, and since he kept his arms at his side he didn't topple over again. Now that he was sitting upright, the next step in operation: Leave The Tavern was getting off the seat. That wasn't too hard, he just slid over and once his leg got into an open space he fell yet again. Not wanting to spend time wallowing away on the floor like he had on the table and wall he grabbed at the seat and pulled himself up, slowly and surely. After that, walking was a snap...as long as he could find something to cling to to improve his odds at staying on his feet. Then there was the strip of open space between the last seat and the entrance to the tavern. Atambrean left his perch. Atambrean took a shaky step. Atambrean fell.

Walking was not going to get him anywhere. Maybe crawling would work. He reached an arm forward and pulled. His body slid forward an inch - progress! Somehow he found himself stretched out flat in front of the building. It was a miracle.

Akso found that Seth did not have the same nifty 'create a bag from thin air' trick that she did, so she was forced to borrow a rather large bag from the store itself.
"We are going to come out of this with sugar-rotted teeth Nall." Akso said happily, pulling various candies from bins and tubs and whatever else they were held in. It was a rather odd sight though, a full grown man bouncing around a candy store like a ten year old with a huge bag full of the stuff.

Ok, so Seth's physical body was being humiliated. He wasn't here, so it didn't matter. So there.
"Man I love this stuff..." Akso mused, grabbing yet more candy.
At least she was sure Seth could produce money from nothing, otherwise they two of them would be S.O.L.

Nall tilted her head to the side when Akso prophesized having sugar-rotted teeth. That was a new one on the little girl, her parents used to say that too much candy would keep her from going to sleep and make her fat if she ate too much. It was too good though, no matter what candy would do to you Nall loved it all the same. Candy was a little peice of sugar coated paradise to her.

When Akso began picking out candy Nall bounced alongside her, helping to fill the bag with the various goodies around the store. And when Akso declared her love for the candy Nall was quick to agree. "Me too!"

Finally, Akso and Nall had pretty much filled the burlap sack with nothing but candy. One hell of a haul if she did say so herself.
Picking the sack up, Akso went through the process of buying the sweets while being stared at blankly by he lady in charge of the store.
Producing the coins needed from thin air, Akso handed them to the lady, grinned, and walked out.
"Come on Nall, lets go and eat all this candy..."

The candy store woman looked awe struck. Seth was one handsome face and body, that was for sure...

Walking down the streets of the village, Akso kept a keen eye out for somewhere to sit and and eat all this stuff with Nall. She wasn't exactly looking at the ground, but was unconciously heading straight for the bar Atambrean had managed to bomb himself in...

Nall was all for the idea of eating the entire burlap sack of candy. They had so much good looking stuff - enough to last them forever it seemed! But, the last bag didn't last them too long, and after this one was gone they could get another one! It was so exciting she could barely keep her feet still, and thus she danced around at Akso's side. Skipping, twirling and bouncing along on her tip toes. And while she was moving she hummed a happy carefree tune that made the edge of her cloak flutter a little more as she moved.

As they passed one building though, Nall stepped on something wasn't quite level and tripped. After she pushed herself up part way she realized that she tripped over a person, a person that was just sprawled out in the street like they were dead. The peson was blanketed in their own long silver hair and clothed in a black robe. The only thing that made it seem alive was the groan it rumbled five seconds after Nall fell over it.

"Sorry," Nall chirped, hopping to her feet and looking down at the person. They seemed oddly familiar... Like a certain guardian that was supposed to have been just outside the inn. "Atam?"

Atambrean moaned a little.

Akso also stepped on something less than even with her boot-clad foot, though was lucky enough not to trip. Instead she paused, and glanced down at the lump that was apparently the figure of a person.
"You alright Nall?"
Seth's voice rumbled out, silver-tinted green eyes narrowed at the groaning figure.

And then it hit her.

"ATAMBREAN!!!" She all but roared it, throwing the sack aside. He was completely bombed!
Akso was quick to put Seth's long reach and strong muscles to work in hauling Atam's dead weight up to eye-level. "The hell are you thinking getting drunk AGAIN!?! I ought to kick your ass flat-out right here!!!" She snarled, and it was ten times scarier due to the fact Seth's voice and Seth's face was doing it all. He was creepy as hell when he got mad, and Akso's anger brought that out.

Nall jumped when Akso went ballistic on her guardian. He kind of brought it on himself, but man was Akso scary... She decided not to interfere and skirted over to the sack of candy. To make sure it was alright of course.

It didn't take much effort to get Atambrean off the ground. His head flopped forward bonelessly when he was hoisted up. When Akso began yelling though, he craned it back up. His eyes alternately focused and unfocused and his eyebrows crossed a little. If the world would just come back into focus he would recognize the person yelling at him. He thought he heard Nall's voice but the sudden addition of this strange yet oddly familiar voice was...odd. Why were they yelling at him, and why did he get the impression that they knew him somehow. Odd... "What are you on?"

Akso was steamed, teeth grinding together. "EeerAARRRGH!!!! WAKE UP YOU IDIOT!" With that, Akso kneed Atam smartly right in the crotch. She kept her grip on his shirt front however, because she got the feeling he'd buckle if she set him down.
That bit of frustration vented, Akso sought to vent some more. Thus, she began to shake Atam viciously, and with every harsh thrash came a word.
"YOU
WEREN'T
SUPPOSED
TO GET
DRUNK
AGAIN!!!"
God, ten times the fool he was!!

Nall squeaked when Akso first kneed Atambrean and then began to shake him around. That couldn't have been too pleasant...

Pain was all Atambrean registered after Akso racked him. The knee took all the drudges of strength and balance he'd found to drag himself from the bar. He slumped in Akso's arms like a corpse and considered whether it'd be good to make his peace about now. Things couldn't possibly get any worse than being assaulted by some psychopath while his brain was being pickled in whatever the hell that woman ordered for him.

And speaking of his brain, it was getting a nice good bout of whiplash now that his assailant was whipping him back and forth. The rush of wind by his ears while he was flung back and forth made his stomach feel light. Now if only he would just puke his guts out right about now...

His guts stayed where they were, but his head began spinning. For some odd reason he thought the person shaking him was saying something... but he couldn't focus on it long before another thrash knocked the sense out of him. If only he could see the a*shole's face, so he'd know who to haunt after he was killed.

Finally, Akso got herself under control and had vented all but a little of her anger. She finally began to have pity on the pathetic form of Atambrean.
"Ugh...come along idiot..."
With that muttered statement, Akso swung Atam's dead weight onto one shoulder, delighting in the wealth of physical strength in her new body. Hell, if only she had muscles like this! No wonder Seth whooped her ass so much...

Taking Nall's hand with surprising gentleness considering her mood, Akso lead her away. The bag on the earth shivered, then lifted and floated after them.
Akso was soon to come upon a blank grassy area, much as she had found the first time Nall and herself had gone on a candy run. There, the bag settled and Akso dumped Atam most unceremoniously onto the earth.
"Go ahead and get started on that candy Nall. I gotta patch this dumb ass guardian of yours up."
With that said, Akso set to work, manipulating Seth's magick with some difficulty to withdraw the toxins from Atam's body, a palm placed on his forehead as she knelt next to him.

Nall was glad that Akso decided to lay off her guardian, it was a lot better to watch if Atam had enough wits to struggle against her. She bounced along beside Akso, occasionally looking back at Atam and the floating bag of candy.

She didn't need to be asked twice to start on the candy once they stopped. A peice of carmel was in her mouth before Akso even finished talking. She chewed the candy and watched Akso tend to Atam.

Atambrean seemed rather dead, but in fact he was enjoying the fact that he wasn't being throttled around too much. He opened his eyes once he registered a hand on his forehead. As the alcohol and the serum that had been added to the ale was filtered out of his system his vision came around. And he saw what looked like...Akso's brother tending to him. What? He blinked in disbelief and squinted a little. His mind wasn't playing tricks on him...Akso's a*shole brother was purging his system. His limbs still felt horrible so he couldn't lash out at the bastard, no big deal, he'd just use what was working. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Akso was in no mood to be spoken to like that, and promptly slapped him before continuing. Of course, she was not think of what body she now inhabited. She only thought of how stupid Atambrean was, and what a total pain in her ass he tended to be.

"I'm getting all this damn alcohol, and whatever the hell else is in your blood, out of your system so perhaps you can walk like a normal person." She snapped, finally finishing in her task and rocking backward in her crouched position.
"You have some nerve going out and getting your ass drunk again Atambrean." She growled, Seth's voice coming out much deeper and more menacing. Oh, but she was in one bad mood.

Nall swallowed the caramel and pulled a sucker out of bag.

Atambrean crossed his eyes when he was slapped. Akso's brother had some nerve! It must run in their family or something... Once he got the strength back in his arms he was going to throttle the bastard senseless for thinking he was stupid enough to be manipulated just by receiving a 'helping' hand. If only he could remember his name though, arrgh! "Don't talk like you know me," he snarled, sitting up somewhat and delighting that he could do so without immediatly falling back down.

Of course, when he sat up he saw Nall... "You son of a bitch. Whatever you're trying to accomplish buying Nall candy and bringing me around isn't gonna happen." And with that Atambrean was flying toward Akso, both arms extended as though he was going to make good on his former thought on throttling her senseless.

Akso's eyes crossed at his strain of spite-filled words. Oh hell...
She was in Seth's body! Duh! Akso you damned idiot!!

And suddenly Atam was flying at her, and both silver speckled green eyes widened. "Sh!t" She snarled, and went into action so she wouldn't get throttled like some unwanted cat.
One boot struck out, catching Atam in the chest, and both hands grabbed the wrists of his outstretched arms. She then rocked back sharply, using his own momentum to send him flying over her.

Once that was done, she jumped up and turned to face him. "Atam you damn fool, It's Akso!" She was firm with her voice, though was aware how different a voice it was.
She glanced at Nall. "I hope you won't mind helping me to explain this Nall..."

Atambrean yelped when he was pitched over Akso and crashed on the ground, rolling a little and landing on his back. That hadn't felt nice. He crossed his eyes and sat up, rubbing his right wrist. And now the bastard wanted him to believe that he was Akso, heh nice try.

But, how else would he (she?) known that he'd been drunk before? It had to have been a lucky guess, he saw him lying in front of a bar and assumed he'd gotten blasted before.

How did he know that Akso didn't like when he got drunk. That was an easier answer than the previous one, most women didn't like to be around a drunk.

Why was he doing this? That was a hard one, 'he had a dastardly plan' wasn't quite cutting it. He had the feeling that a dastardly plan by Akso's brother's standards would involve him rushing in and whaling on them. Which, suffice it to say he was sort of doing to him, but Nall looked perfectly fine, not a stray cut or bruise about her.

And speaking of Nall, she trusted the...the thing claiming to be Akso. Did Nall hit her head after talking to her sister or something.

Nall nodded when Akso asked her to help out and walked up to her guardian. She licked her sucker and looked down at him, saying simply. "It's Akso Atam, honest."

Atambrean raised an eyebrow, a hint of suspicion glittering in his eyes.

Nall took the hint that he wasn't convinced by what she thought was a good reason not to be suspicious. "If it was Akso's brother he would have tried to kill me.

Atambrean blinked, all doubt gone from his face and a tremendously awkward feeling welling up in him. The last time they talked in his dream she left in a huff. She was probably enjoying the chance to whale the hell out of him in real life...

Akso crossed her arms over a chest that no longer sported breasts, and for some reason found the feeling odd. For the love of God, a flat chest should not be on her thoughts right now!!!
Akso hissed and shook her head.

Cold eyes watched as Nall explained, quite simply, that she was indeed Akso. Well, the child had done a hell of alot better than she would have.
"Well, I hope you believe her, because it's true. Odd, but true. I'm using Seth's body, though I still can't say why in the hell he would let me use it in the first place."
She shrugged Seth's shoulders, speaking in Seth's voice.
It truly was odd.

"Anyway, back to my original point." Her face twisted into a rather frightening scowl. "You are a damned fool for getting drunk again!! And with Nall at the Inn alone!!! What if the real Seth had bust in there and killed her!?! My God but you are an idiot..." She snapped all this off, then sighed and promptly sat. "This can't be good for me..." She mumbled, taking a moment to rub her temples slowly.

Atambrean scowled through Akso's chastisement and opened his mouth to retort, not really caring why she was suddenly prophecizing - when Nall cut him off at the pass.

"What can't be good for you?" she asked, turning to face Akso and licking the sucker again.

Interrupting Akso probably wouldn't be a pretty scene. Which made him think... Why was he even bothering to try and defend himself? He left the Inn, went to a bar, got a hell of an ale and the real Seth would have gleefully killed both of them if he happened to find them. Trying to redeem himself would be like trying to write with his left foot. He drew his knees up into his chest and scowled, glaring at a clump of grass.

Akso sighed yet again, though it came out deep through Seth's vocals. A few mumbled things were said to herself, before she finally stopped rubbing her temples and managed a small grin at Nall. "Something called Stress, caused by that dummy over there. Hopefully you will never suffer it yourself Nall, because quite frankly, the entire concept stinks."

With that, she promptly flopped onto her back, hands cushioning the back of her head. She stared up at the sky with the eyes of her brother, but could see nothing different. It made her wonder why Seth still saw things differently from her, when their eyes were the same...
Akso twisted Seth's face into a small frown, and a final sigh escaped.
"Sorry Atam..."
Well, there was a rare thing indeed!

Stress, Nall had seen that happen to her parents and older sister alot and more than likely suffered it before herself. What got rid of it though? She absent mindedly licked the sucker and then smiled widely. She bounced over to the bag of candy, grabbed the top most item, a chunk of rock candy, and ran back to Akso. "Here," she announced, holding the cube of sugar forward and smiling widely.

Sorry Atam? Atambrean blinked, his face dull with surprise, or perhaps shock. Sorry Atam. S-o-r-r-y A-t-a-m! I must still have some of tha ale in my system...

No, Akso took it all out. I'd still be puddled on the ground if she...can she still be called a she...hadn't. Must be real. Really real. Why though? What the hell does Akso have to apologize for!

Atambrean's ability to think rationally spiraled away at that point in time. He jumped to his feet and spiraled around to face Akso and Nall, his hands balled into fists at his sides and eyes crossed. "What the hell are you apologizing for!" He demanded, his voice dancing on the verge of hysteria.

Akso's now silver speckled green eyes shifted to Nall as she came over to her laid out form. Candy...
The dark angel laughed softly and smiled warmly at Nall. Though it was Seth's face, it was Akso's smile. "Thanks Nall, that's sweet of you."
She murmured gently, taking the candy from the child.

It was then Atam had his little outburst.

With a mutter and a sigh, Akso sat up, then stood up to face him. She took three large steps so she was toe-to-toe, face-to-face with Atambrean. Seth's body was a few inches taller than him, but not enough to be too threatening.
"What the hell do you think I'm apologizing for??? For beating the @#%$ out of you!" She growled. "Of course, I can never apologize to you about anything ever again if you don't find my 'sorry' good enough for you!" The words came out on a venemous hiss, and one wondered where the hell all this frustration and tension between them was coming from.

"You shouldn't have to apologize about that!" Atambrean growled. "I couldn't control my baser urges, walked off when I said I'd stay outside the Inn and got a bad ale! I'm an ass and you're just when you treat me like one! Gods-damnit I should be apologizing to you!!"

"Do it then!!" Nall yelled, standing on her tip toes so she would seem bigger. Akso and Atam arguing wasn't any fun. It was much better when Atam would say something that Akso didn't like, and she beat him.

Atambrean started when Nall suddenly jumped into the screaming match and took a step back. Serpens' wiles, it couldn't make things any worse. Unless, of course Akso had a reason why she personally was sorry to have beaten the tar out of him. He crossed his arms and glanced at Akso. "Sorry, I've been a real ass lately," he said softly.

Nall stood flat on her feet once Atam apologized and realized why she thought their arguing wasn't any fun. The words, she couldn't understand much of what they were saying to each other, or they confused her. Now that she had her voice back she could ask them about those strange words.

"It's not ok for me to toss you around like a f*cking rag-doll Atam, no matter how much of an ass you are!!" She snarled, teeth clenched almost painfully. It was Nall's out burst, mixed with Atam's confession that HE should be apologizing, that stopped Akso in her tracks.

Turning, she blinked down at Nall, all the anger washed out of her in one easy gust. She heard Atam's soft apology, but watched Nall for one more brief moment.
Finally, her changed eyes turned back on Atam. She stared hard at him for a moment, then sighed.
"Yeah, why is that?" She asked after a moment, smirking mildly. She then sighed again, though it was Seth's deeper voice that produced it.
"I guess we both have stuff to apologize for...yours is accepted. How 'bout mine?"

Nall hoped Atam would let Akso have her 'sorry' too, it'd be really nice of him. And, then she could ask about the words they kept saying. In fact, there were a lot of words she heard and didn't understand that she could ask them if they answered...

But, what if Atam didn't let Akso have her 'sorry'? How mean, she thought about kicking him in the shins if he went off on another speech or something.

Atambrean perked an eyebrow at the question that followed Akso's stare. But, since she moved from there to accepting his apology it would be good to save that question for later. "Yeah, I accept," he reached up to smooth a loose bit of hair back into his ponytail.

Now was a good later. He toyed around with answering the question, seriously toyed with it. It'd be a little awkward if he jumped on it though. Maybe she'd ask again. Maybe what he though she meant wasn't really what she meant. Hell, if she wanted to know why 'that was' bad enough she'd ask again.

Akso nearly sighed with relief when Atam did indeed accept her appology. However, she manged to retain some dignity and only grinned slightly.
It was odd to see Akso's expressions on her brother's face.

After a brief pause, Akso randomly grabbed Atam's nose...hard. "So, why have you been such an ass lately Atam?"
Realizing she might not get a truthful answer while holding onto his nose, she promptly released him and crossed her arms over her now oddly flat chest.
Why the hell did that bother her so freaking much!?

"Go on, and answer me truthfully. If you say something I know you're saying just to be a smart-ass I'll have to hurt you again."

Seeing Akso's brother's face smiling at him like Akso did was just the teeniest bit creepy. Of course Atambrean didn't get to reflect on that much before Akso suddenly lunged for his face, his nose to be specific.

Nall grinned, this was more like the Akso and Atam she knew.

Atambrean jumped when Akso grabbed his nose, more from the surprise of being under attack so soon than the fact that she had a vise grip on it. Once she let go he rubbed the end of it and tried his best not to glower at her. Apparently, her apology didn't include little things, like grabbing his nose to get his attention, or threats.

Which, considering that his mind was in a fuzzy haze was likely going to turn into a promise. Yaldaboath... He gave his nose another rub, in case it was shattered in the next few moments. "Because my brain's been rattled beyond repair and all the sense I had left abondoned ship," he said dully.

Nall gravitated over to the bag of candy and sat beside it, reaching in to get another treat and keeping a close eye on Akso and Atam.

Akso's eyes, now Seth's, crossed lightly at Atambrean's answer. Well...it was sort of...vague, to be truthful.
"Well...ok. And why is that?"
She knew Atam was an ass, but for him to be this much of an ass meant something was up. So, ok, he said it was because his brains were rattled, but how the hell did that happen?

At least she was being serious for a moment. She actually seemed genuinely interested in finding out why Atam's demeanor had changed so much.

(*gag* Horrible short posty...)

Well, at least he wasn't eating fist. Now at least, he wasn't out of the woods yet. He had to think up a reasonable excuse for his brain's shaken and stirred state. Every excuse that danced through his mind had a big sign that read 'thrash me' perched above it.

Best go with the shock answer. Maybe she'd be too confused and horrified to pound him. It didn't work long in the past, but it would buy him some time to..think.

"Because adrenaline and lust don't mix well," he quipped, trying to keep from smirking.

Nall's eyes widened a little bit, more words she needed to ask about. Too bad she didn't know how to spell them, she'd write them down and save the list.

(AIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I can't believe I forgot about this thread!!! ;_; *hugs Akso, Atam, and Nall apologetically*)

Akso gave Atambrean a withering look. Count on him to give an answer like that.
"Adrenaline and lust?? Do you ALWAYS think about sex?!?"
God, but he was one horny bastard...

Throwing up Seth's hands, Akso turned the body around and marched back over to the candy bag. Plopping down, she grabbed a fist-full of the sugary goodness and shoved in her mouth.
"Not an hour alive again, and already I'm reminded why I spent half my time with a migraine..." She mumbled, glaring at the abused Atambrean.
He was such a pain in the ass sometimes.

(Ugh, that sucked ass...)

(('Tis ok, you's back now ^^))

Nall tilted her head to the side and looked at Atambrean like he was a new animal in a zoo.

Atambrean raised both eyebrows and ran a hand through his ponytail. "Not all the time. I don't have that much of a one track mind."

Nall popped a peice of rock candy in her mouth, still looking at Atambrean. Poor Akso, getting migraines like Mum got sometimes... Hopefully Mum didn't get them because Atam thought about sex all the time.

Atambrean was well aware of the eyes on him. He pretended not to notice though, taking his hair out of the ponytail and fluffing it a little.

Akso snorted at Atam, not believing that for a second. "Yeah, right." She then smirked. "No, you're right. You also think about drinking."
She noted his messing with that damnable hair again and rolled her eyes.
"And you have a fetish for your damn hair. Maybe I should set it on fire again?"

Hot damn was it good to be alive! And able to torment Atambrean to her heart's desire...
Akso was grinning quite merrily now, obviously amused.
"You're way too fun to pick on Atam."

"Yeah!" Nall agreed enthusiastically. It was so fun to see Akso tease Atam, at least when they weren't using words.

Atambrean, who swept his hair over his shoulder when Akso mentioned burning it again, looked scandalized. Da-mn, that was harsh. They could have waited until he wasn't around before professing their love of picking on him.

"Listen to them Yaldaboath," he mused, looking up to the sky. "And they wonder why I drink."

Nall grinned from ear to ear. Finally, something she knew the answer to! "Because you're thirsty," she stated matter of factly.

Yaldaboath must have extended her coffee break into a full vacation package...

"Not that kind of drinking," Atambrean muttered, trying to keep the growl out of his voice.

Nall's face fell. What other kinds of drinking where there?

Akso burst into bright laughter at the small interplay between the two. Though it was Seth's voice, it was definately Akso's ruefull laugh. That was too rich...
"Oh Lord, Nall you are just too cute!"

Standing and whiping her eyes free of tears, she meandered over in order to poke Atam in the side of the head.
"He means the drinking in which he comes back queazy and with a headache. Like he was while I was kicking the crap out of him earlier."
She answered, perfectly calm while Atam was obviously annoyed.
Akso then grabbed a bit of Atambrean's hair and held it away from his head, as if studying it. "You really should loosen up. You have no idea how great life is until you loose it."
It seemed she was pondering setting it on fire again or not.
"Always wondered why you had such womanly hair. I mean hell, in my female body I didn't have hair nearly as long as this. And I never messed with it as much, either."
She tugged the piece she now held, smirking mildly. It seemed her mood had drastically improved from before. But then, picking on Atam always made her feel better...
"So, why do you change your appearance so much?"
She had noticed it over the course she had known him. His face and hair were never really the same from one even to the other. Sometimes it annoyed her when his face kept changing like that, though it was never anything serious. It was also odd he could even do it at all.
She still wondered what the hell he was...

   All hail Akso!

Nall smiled again when Akso explained what Atam meant, and because she poked him. Akso picking on Atam did wonders for her mood.

Atambrean scowled when Akso poked him and gave Nall a lesson in drinking's connotation, complete with an example. His scowl was eaten by a look of shock when Akso grabbed a lock of his hair and began inspecting it. The hell was she planning now??

Loosen up? Atambrean's eyes narrowed and a little smirk stretched across his lips. He pondered asking whether that really meant acting like he was enjoying himself while she made a mockery of him...

When she began musing over his hair he felt the overwhelming urge to yank the lock she held out of her hands. He resisted, he was probably just being paranoid. "Because I like it this wa- ouch." He scowled again after she pulled his hair.

Nall giggled and fished another peice of rock candy from the bag.

Atambrean sighed.

The little smirk made a reappearance on his face when after Akso's last question. "Because I can," he answered simply.

Akso snorted at his reply and jerked his hair again, though not hard enough to be trully painful. "Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Be happy with what ya got the first time around..." The last part was more muttered than spoken, and she released his hair. Luckily, without setting it on fire.

Akso was going through some serious emotional issues at the moment. But then, dying as she had, then the interesting and emotional incident within Atambrean's dream, and then being transferred into the body of her hated brother...well, she had good damn reason to be a bit unstable at the moment.
Thus those wonderful moodswings set in.
Damn them to hell...

Without warning, her wings burst from her back in the lovely spray of blood. She really needed to work on returning to her lightangelhood...
Akso was airborn in moments, suddenly in need of a venting session that did not involve kicking the crap out of Atambrean.
Releasing the double-bladed sword from its sheath, Akso tested out Seth's muscles.
In moments she was nothing but a blurr of color, venting all her twisted emotions and and scars of the soul the only way she knew how.

Soon, colorful blasts of energy began to appear as she set the blade's real powers into use. By this point, it was more to amuse Nall than vent, but was extremely impressive one way or the other.

(Man, moody warrior angels are very sparadic...poor Akso/Seth...)

 ((*pats Akso/Seth*))

Atambrean scowled. He didn't hear all of the muttered addition to her advice, but what he did hear: 'happy...first time around' gave him enough of an idea. He crossed his arms and watched Akso take to the sky.

Nall was entranced when Akso took to the sky, she looked up and watched in wide eyed amazement as she went through her attack patterns. A wide smile spread across her face.
