PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
An ethereal beauty, with the soft, delicate features elves are widely known for. Her long, flowing hair might as well be spun of shimmering thread woven from starlight, and her softly slanted eyes are chips of sapphires. Soft lips are pale and drawn in a thin, stern line.

Of averaging height, Tesha has a well-toned body with nicely defined muscles on her slender frame. Pale skin is smooth and unblemished, her young age has left her with little in the way of scars. Her lithe body is generally clad is soft, supple leather armor – generally in various shades of medium to dark grey.

PERSONALITY
Tesha is nothing if not a fighter. She's always had spunk and spirit and a thirst for adventure. All her life she's been told that women are supposed to be Dark Mothers, and the men are the Shadow Rangers. Sure, women are allowed to become Fledglings, and they can pass their Rites, same as men, but they're never really observed as equals in the eyes of their male peers. Because of this Tesha has a bit of an inferiority complex, which she overcompensates for.

Ultimately she is out to prove herself to be just as good as any other Shadow Ranger, regardless of their gender. This results in a lot of youthful impulsiveness. Tesha tries too hard and this actually trips her up because instead of focusing on being the best she can be, she wants to be the best ever, and therefore misses out on opportunities to play up her strengths.

Beneath all the preening, the puffed up attitude, Tesha is really just afraid of being looked down on and is desperate for approval. She wants to be respected for who she is and what she can do – not what she can give birth to. Because of the tough front she puts up to the world, she finds herself kind of lonely and doesn't feel like anyone really understands her.

BACKSTORY
Tershal Nallvir, elf and Shadow Ranger of the Vigilant Shadows, saved a beautiful blonde-haired girl from being brutalized. Her name was Constance Greene. She was very young, and terrified, both by those that had attacked her and the strange man that had unexpectedly come to her aid. After some gentle and patient coaxing the girl found herself in the elf's arms as he carried her home to her bed. She awoke the next morning thinking that she'd merely had a horrifying nightmare.

It was nearly ten years later when Constance found herself again in trouble. Her life had always been poor, instable, and hazardous, but for some reason, she seemed to never have quite as hard of a time as other girls in similar positions. Young and naïve she attributed her good fortune to having a guardian angel watching out for her – she had no idea that her thinking wasn't entirely inaccurate. Despite never showing himself to her during the long decade, Tershal had been checking in on her life regularly, from a distance and from the shadows.

So when she found herself being forced upon by a man that wished to push her into a life of prostitution, a figure from a half-remembered dream appeared from nowhere to whisk her to safety again. It was surreal to find that a man she'd dreamed of since she was a little girl wasn't just a dream – he was real. Tershal had intended to leave Constance once more in her bed, safe and sound, but before he could leave she'd grabbed ahold of his arm and begged him to take her away from the life she lived. He didn't have a choice after that, so he simply told her to go to sleep. The next morning she awoke within the Clockwork city.

It took Constance three years after arriving to finally wrangle Tershal into marrying her – the elf was as slippery as the shadows that he used and had avoided her as often as possible, but there was little that could stop a determined woman. Especially a Dark Mother! Of course there was something else Constance wanted from Tershal and she wouldn't feel like a proper Dark Mother until he gave it to her. Their son Andral was born within the year of their wedding. Just a few years shy of Andral being old enough to begin his training as a Fledgling; Constance gave birth to her second child, daughter Tesha.

Born and raised in the Clockwork City, Tesha's never known another life. Raised by her own mother, as well as the other Dark Mothers, from a very early age she was told her place in the world. She was a child of shadows. As a girl, there was pressure for her to become a Dark Mother herself as soon as she was old enough, and found the right Shadow Ranger, of course. It was the life her mother wanted for her, certainly. Shadow Rangers were sent out into danger, they didn't always come home – it was a fear that every Dark Mother that had a partner, lover, or spouse had to contend with. Dark Mothers on the other hand were cared for and protected by the collective. Why on earth would a woman brought up in the Clockwork City choose to go out into danger?

Stubborn and willful, Tesha grew up with daydreams of adventure on her mind. She wanted to see the world. If she became a Dark Mother she'd never be allowed to leave the Clockwork City. Her mother insisted there was nothing worth seeing out there, that the Clockwork City was all the world she would ever need, but Tesha remained unconvinced. When she was old enough to become a Fledgling, she sought her father's advice and wisdom, knowing he had seen a great deal and experienced so much. She was warned that being a Shadow Ranger was difficult and that as a girl she would face even more challenges than a boy, but he advised her not to listen to her mother or him. Tershal's advice to his daughter was very simple – Listen to your heart, it will never lead you astray.

So Tesha did just as her father told her to. It wasn't easy, but her persistence was admirable as she worked through her Fledgling training, much to her mother's discontentment - especially when the war of the Blood Moon broke out. Not even the horrible loss of life in the bloodiest of battles could dissuade Tesha from her course. The day of her Rites was both the most exciting and most terrifying day of her life. Her father made sure that he was in the Clockwork City so that he could witness her triumph as she was anointed a full-fledged Shadow Ranger.

When she was eighteen, her younger sister Kassa was born. Tesha has never had a lot of interaction with either of her siblings. The great gaps in ages made it difficult for her to relate to her brother as she grew up, and will hamper her development of a relationship with her much younger sister as well. As a Shadow Ranger she doesn't have time to work on strengthening the ties to her family – or so she claims. It has only been a few short years since she became a Shadow Ranger, but she strives to be the greatest she can be – and to prove to the boys that girls are just as good.
