Eihmo'tei took hold of the cloth and continued the motions Kiara was doing. This stuff was harder to get off than was expected. The cloth, as well as the Zerdani's face, went into the fountain water. With a good amount of effort, the sticky but tasty substance was completely cleaned from his fox-like muzzle. With his face still dripping wet, Eihmo'tei watched over the rest of his party. Some of the other humans were still staring, but it did not matter anymore. Not to the Zerdani.

Kiara watched the lot fondly, but she kept a wary eye on the gathering crowd. In her experience, curious states weren't always innocent.

One everyone was finished up, Eihmo'tei looked up at his friend.

"Where we go?" he asked in common.

There was a soft gasp from somewhere in the "audience". Obviously, they did not expect him to be able to even speak, let alone in their language. One big ear twisted to face its direction, then the Zerdani turned his head. He could not help but to do that. It was reflex.

"That man back in Essyrn gave me an address," Kiara replied, ignoring the bystanders. "It's just on the other side of town, c'mon you lot."

Kalak8538

The Zerdani's attention snapped back to Kiara. He understood only the order to follow, and smiled. Eihmo'tei did his best to ignore the crowd as he followed along. Their stares would not dampen his mood. Not this time.

Kiara led their little group through the port town to the address she'd been given- she took a wrong turn once or twice, but she hoped the kids wouldn't notice if she just played it off.

Eventually, they wound up in front of a moderately sized house just outside of the market district. "Alright." She turned and looked her charges over, straightening clothes and combing hair with her fingers. "Everybody ready?" She patted Eihmo'tei's head.

Eihmo'tei may not have known what this place was, but he knew that it was important to be singled out from all the others.

"Reddy!" he responded, taking his gaze off of Kiara to inspect the building in front of them.

The Zerdani said this with confidence, and knew full well what it meant. However, he was not sure just how ready he was. Mostly, the simple creature did not know what to expect here. He eyed up the dwelling, picking appart both the similarities to and differences from a dwelling in Essyrn.

Kiara knocked in the door. After a few moments, it creaked open to reveal a be speckled, skinny man with rather disheveled hair and clothes.

"Oh." He blinked at them. "Hello. Who-" his eyes flicked over the children and some sort of understanding seemed to dawn. "Ah. I see. Won't you come in." He stood aside to let them enter.

Kalak8538

Any next course of action was taken with caution by the little Zerdani. It seemed like an invitation to enter, but Eihmo'tei was not exactly sure if that was the intention. He looked to Kiara, hoping to see some sort of indication that it was alright to enter. Even if she entered first, he would follow right behind.

She nodded and led their little group into the building. "You know who we are then?"

The man nodded. "Yes, I received word you would be arriving this week. I trust your travels went well?"

"Ah- sure." She glanced back at the children, who seemed to be too nervous to speak, or do much of anything.

Eihmo'tei followed the rest inside. The interior of the dwelling was much more wondrous than the exterior. The Zerdani was off in a flash, anxious to explore.

"Oh." The man blinked and watched Eihmo'tei zip off. "Ah- well, no matter." He tilted his head at Kiara. "He is...housebroken, yes?"

She frowned. "He's not a pet. He'll behave himself." She hoped. Waving it off, she and the children followed him into a room off the entryway that seemed to be some sort of parlor.

"Now. Shall we discuss what happens next?"

Kalak8538

Eihmo'tei zigzagged his way throughout the building. There were so many strange things in which to inspect.

All around, there were strange constructs made of wood. They were furniture, like what had been it the Essyrni Inn. Some were augmented with softer material. The Zerdani climbed onto one, testing the softness in the only logical way: by bouncing. Up and down he went, mystified by its ability to retake form after being pressed so.

Bounding down to the floor once again, something else caught his attention. A structure similar to a human bed. This piece, however, was much taller and contained no bedding on top. Eihmo'tei could not see over the top, but he did not need to. Instead of wood, the platform was made of a hard and clear material. The Zerdani put a law against the underside. Making sure it was not some trick. Looking around, the openings leading outside also held such a material.

The next thing (or things) was another tall wooden structure. This thing was huge, much bigger than two or three humans combined. Stacked inside were a bunch of colorful... things. Eihmo'tei carefully walked over to grab one. Stretching quite a bit, he was able to grab one, but it was heavier than expected. It hit the ground with a loud THUD, startling him somewhat. Although, what was inside was even more curious.

The impact had opened it on the floor. This item was filled with paper, the same material as the map was. It was a lucky thing that they were stuck to the inside of the hard cover, otherwise they would have surely made a mess. Each one had strange symbols and images on them. This must have been human writing. He flipped through each piece, carefully observing what each paper had depicted. As time went on, the Zerdani flattened himself on the hard floor, studying the content of this item.

Kiara spoke with the owner of the house for some time, giving the children and Eihmo'tei plenty of time to explore the building.

Eventually though, they emerged back into the hallway and she called for her charges, hoping she wouldn't have to work too hard to wrangle them all.

Hearing his companion's call, Eihmo'tei closed up the thing he was reading. He carried it over to Kiara and the other human, clutching it with both paws.

DragonSong

"Ah..." the man blinked at Eihmo'tei approached. "Hello, little...fellow. Where did you find that?"

Kalak8538

The Zerdani noticed that the man's attention was on the thing he was holding. With a clawed finger, he pointed to the tall piece of wood furniture. He hoped he had heard the question correctly. His grip on human language was much better than it used to be, but he was not entirely fluent yet.

DragonSong

"Uh-huh." He frowned slightly and held his hand out. "Would you remind returning that? It's quite a rare edition."

Kiara knelt and smiled at the Zerdani, gesturing for him to give the book back.

Kalak8538

Eihmo'tei was not sure he should hand the item back. There was still more in it he wanted to examine. However, the older human was its owner. It was only right to return it.

The Zerdani hesitantly held his arms out, feeling the weight before him. It slowly landed on the human's outstretched palm. His grip eventually loosened with some more willpower, and the item was relinquished back to the one it belonged to.

"Atta boy." Kiara ruffled the fur between his ears, then straightened up. She sighed and glanced toward the small parlor where the children were waiting, looking quiet and nervous.

"I guess it's time to say goodbye," she murmured. She put a hand on Eihmo'tei's shoulder with a small smile and steered him into the room.

"Alright. Derrik here is going to take care of you three," she said to Ras, Tala, and Bibi. "He's going to find you work and make sure you have food and clothing, proper training in a trade. Alright?"

They nodded, then suddenly she was swarmed by small bodies, the children throwing their arms around her.
