Eko grinned wildly, flashing sharp teeth at no one as she crouched flat against a large boulder. She had been wistfully patrolling the treacherous hills of the Western Highlands for game for only a short time before she happened upon her prey. And here she was, with cool rock pressed against her skin, she watched the large ram graze some distance away. The ram was a large and wooly, her mouth salivating at the thought of his flesh between her teeth. While she didn't have to eat as much as mere mortals, she had too much human in her blood to survive solely on chaos.
Eko flicked her snake-like tongue quickly, tasting the air of its scents and textures. The ram tasted of musk and a lack of fear that stated its' oblivious state. He knew nothing of the predator that stalked him.
Eko breathed out the animal scents around her, focusing herself mentally as she drew upon the cold in her bones. She drew out its biting power, willing it to the hooves of the ram. Slowly, ice shards formed around the hooves of the unsuspecting ram, encasing his legs in a tight prison. The ram, so consumed with his need to graze, only realized his predicament as he tried to take a step to no avail. He tried again to be met with the same result.
Eko inhaled sharply as the ram began to panic and thrash in fear. Its fear rolled upon skin, caressing her with its enticing feel. She raised herself from the cool face of the boulder and spread her bat-like wings for flight. The leather appendages twitched in response before beating against the wind for take off. Eko's sharp toenails scraped the rock she had laid against as she ascended in to the winds, watching in amusement as the ram continued to thrash.
With only a few wing beats, Eko reached the ram and lowered herself gracefully near the creature. She smiled wickedly at the ram's bleating and rolling eyes, letting her tongue flick out once more to taste its fragrance. Eko ambled towards her prey, enjoying the taste of its fear heighten with ever bare step she took. The cold wind stung her body pleasantly, since the tattered rags she wore barely covered her from bosom to knee. With bare feet and torn clothing, the temperature would bother mere mortals, but not her.
Eko stopped beside the ram, who was now utterly exhausted from his struggling. He breathed heavily and only soft bleating now escaped him. She grabbed the thick horns of the ram, a more curved and light-colored version of her own steely horns, and bared his throat. With a quick slash of blackened claws, she ended his life and relished in the meal to come. But as Eko began withdrawing her ice from its legs, she heard the faint sound of fabric against stone.
Eko stopped her actions and surveyed her area with an amused smirk upon her face. She stood on an incline near the valley between large hills with scatted boulders and cliffs near her. The wind rushed through valley, blowing her scent south and the scent of any other far from her. Eko drew her large wings closer into her backside although her presence could hardly be reduced in any way. A beautiful woman of ghostly skin, ebony hair, and blood-colored eyes could not go unnoticed, even if she did not have the demon features of dragon-like horns, bat wings, and blackened claws.
Eko's scarlet eyes scanned the area but found nothing and could only smirk at the individual's hiding.
Come out, come out wherever you are...Her wickedly teasing voice echoed through the valley as she stood impossibly still beside her prey. Eko flashed sharp teeth again at no one but what sure she was not as alone as she thought...
