"To raise him right and to bring this land to where it needs to be."
His eyes never left the child. Hope. The child was exactly that. At least within his own eyes, perhaps his own selfish justification after the Grand Duke had already been through and lost so much to right the wrongs of his world.

The Never King- a king erased from history because of his dabblings in dark magic (among other things...) suddenly because a present day problem when an unlikely group of adventurers 'awakens' him from the grave. You can read more about the event on the plotting page here and information page here!

I ran the Connlaothian civil war. For more info, check out it's page here. The war has now turned into a 'Cold War' with it's plotting page found here. It's no longer a huge site wide event but the scars are there.

Bring the land where it needs to be.

Medina echo'd the words in her head before she placed her hand on her child's back. "That's a heavy burden for a baby," she said softly, feeling his little body breathe while he tried to gather as much of his father's hair into his fist as possible to shove into his mouth.

"What does a child risen right look like? What does he do?" Medina moved closer to look over Hope's head to Calents face. "What kind of person is he?"

Calent'd eyes looked distantly through the child but yet still at him as her question stirred within him.
"This." He said softly, simply.  "And all of it." He lowered his head and moved with the child closer towards the window as he peered through it,  through the curtains to outside. The subtle breeze felt nice.

"Hope will be what he was meant to be."

Be what he was meant to be.

Medina rose a skeptical eyebrow, the corner of her mouth pulling to the side in mild amusement. The sound of wishes from a father to a son. Soft golden eyes watched Calent hold Hope by the window, taking the imagine and seeing it doe later. For when someday, this would be a distant life.

Feeling bold, she walked slowly up behind Calent, curling an arm around his back and resting her cheek on his shoulder when she stood beside him. She reached and stoked Hope's cheek with the back of a finger, before turning her head and pressing a kiss to the shoulder beside her.

"We made a cute baby," she commented idly, not fully enjoying the talk of such a heavy future weight on her child, "do you think he'll be handsome?"

Calent closed his eyes at her affections.  For a brief moment, their world seemed lulled, peaceful, almost.. perfect. But then his eyes opened and reality returned with it, and all of its ugly shades of colors and the grey.

But there was only one answer to her question.
