1. Organization Name
Vigilants of the Vile, aka the Vigilants

2. Objectives
The Vigilant's mission is to detect, contain, and fight off the cursed plague of Fell, and to protect Vantage and the borders of unafflicted kingdoms from it. The Vigilants are at the forefront of defense against the twisted machinations of the blighted lands. They serve as the eyes in the dark for the rest of the realm and the heralds of the incoming dangers beyond them. They aid and provide refuge for the victims of the affliction and protect others from them. Treasure hunters, adventurers and others who venture back from the blighted land are taken in by the Vigilants and inspected for any traces of infection before they are allowed to pass across the border. The Vigilants also strive to gain more of an understanding of the mysterious phenomenon and to develop cures and treatments of its vile effects.

3. Who may join?
The Vigilants are an all-inclusive order that inducts members from all social standings, professions, and backgrounds. Though mercenaries, exiles, and veterans are among the most common of the recruits. Non-mages are the most welcome while mages are more carefully vetted, watched, and given more limited roles due to their volatility if afflicted by the curse. In the rare occasion that an unafflicted mage is willing to serve the Vigilants and have reached the confines of the stronghold without infection, they will be locked in isolation where they may work on healing incantations and perform research under the clerics. The Vigilants also seek affiliations and support from other orders defending against dark forces  such as the Order of the Moon and the Mordecai. 

4. Organization Location
The Vigilants are based in Valgrim, a mountain pass in the mountainous border between Connlaoth and Fell. Its headquarters is Vantage, a fortified commune perched atop a crag nestled in the middle of The valley. Thick stone walls envelop the entire commune and sections it into several wards. The lower ward consists of the quarantine ward, stables, merchant stands, tavern, and inn. The middle ward. houses the cleric's parsonage, smith, mason, carpenter workshops, shops, and homes. The main keep, great hall, armory, barracks, and storehouses sit upon the upper ward. Guard houses and towers line the outer walls and the walls that separates the wards.

5. Current Members and Ranks
The Vigilants are structured into four main subservient groups, each tasked with the vital functions of the order. Each group is supervised by a Lead, all of whom report to the Lord Vigilant.
(TBD): Lord Vigilant - head of the order
(OPEN): Lead Guard - commands of the Guards
(ALWAYS OPEN): Guard - swordsmen, archers, and other infantry men who maintain order within the walls of Vantage, defend against outside attacks, and manages the quarantine
(OPEN): Lead Ranger - leads the Rangers
(ALWAYS OPEN): Ranger - scouts, hunters, patrols who search for wandering travelers from Fell and hunt down demons and the hostile tainted.
(OPEN): Lead Cleric - oversees the Clerics
(ALWAYS OPEN): Clerics - doctors, physicians, apothecaries, scholars, priests that tend to the ill, study the plague, and keep other Vigilants safe from the plague.
(OPEN): Lead Keeper - manages the Keepers and handles the logistics of the entire commune
(ALWAYS OPEN): Keepers - stewards, masons, smiths, and builders that maintain the infrastructure of the commune
