Physical Description Quinn is a human male (and sometimes female now) sorcerer who stands about 5'3", pretty short by comparison to most humans (that aren't also short). He has caramel-colored tanned skin, and chest-length, curly black hair. It's really frizzy and probably would look longer than it does if he just combed and took care of it better, but he spends more time doing magic experiments and studying methods to undo his 'curse' than he does worrying about his haircut. He has a thin and flexible body type, which he keeps in some kind of shape through daily yoga and starving like a normal person would. Quinn has gray eyes, and slight dark circles under them from staying up all night practicing magic, studying various curses, hexes, dispelling mixtures and so forth. To describe his face in one word one could say the term 'girly' fits— He has soft features, no blemishes, long-ish eyelashes, kind of a little button nose and a small mouth.

His 'cursed' state of being isn't too much physically different than his normal self, though notably, Quinn appears much, much more rested and put-together in female form than his male counterpart. While they share a similar height, weight and body type, gone from Quinn's female form are the circles under the eyes, and the constant lack of care for appearance. Instead, 'she' has vibrant, smooth skin and bright, silvery eyes—  Even her hair seems to flow and bounce with a liveliness that their male counterpart's lifeless locks doesn't seem capable of. In addition, Quinn's masculine body shapes itself in more feminine proportions, with thinner shoulders and wider hips—  but she definitely doesn't lose any of her core physique in the process.

Personality Quinn is a man of contrasts and dualities. Normally, he's a bit of a loner—  Quiet, introverted, and only responding to others when addressed, never bothering to start a conversation he doesn't find personal value in. He's quite intelligent, and prides himself on being able to read other people quite well, regardless of how long he's known them. He sees the world in its many shades of grays, and is able to navigate dangerous people and even more dangerous ideals in pursuit of his own goals. In spite of this, he borders on obsessive over the attention of people he is intimate with. He craves said conversation whenever in the presence of others, and can easily become lonely or jealous of the attention others receive over him, if he feels said attention is 'flaunted'. Such feelings drive him to be rather sarcastic, witty and dismissive of others when they do engage with him—  a vicious cycle in which he knowingly pushes others away in order to avoid feeling such strong and, to him, disdainful emotions.

Then there's his curse.

Quinn's has always struggled with the duality of the idea of being comfortable with who he is, versus striving to be something you aren't. The male version of him very much personifies being trapped in the idea of striving for something you can't reach— his constant struggle over wanting to bond with others, his lack of self care in exchange for trying to find a way to cure his curse. The female version of Quinn very much is an expression of what happens to a person like himself, if he let go of his emotional faults. Bright in both personality and expressiveness when interacting with others, Quinn's female form, while essentially still him, with the same memories and experiences, sees the world from a much freer perspective. Innocent-minded and somewhat carefree in nature, she is kind to just about everyone she meets, and enjoys the company of friends and strangers alike. She takes pleasure in the simple things in life—  food, drink, dance, flora and fauna, romance and balancing things on top of other things. She doesn't allow herself to be tied down by past negative experiences, and as a result, she's able to live however she wishes to, if it makes her and the people she cares about happy. Unfortunately, unlike her male counterpart, living such a carefree lifestyle also makes her a bit oblivious to danger at times—  physical or otherwise.

Magic/Abilities
Quinn is cursed. On his own, he is quite a capable spellcaster, one who has studied many of the world's curses, hexes, runes and mythos, and as a result, has learned very many spells and structured forms of magic in his lifetime—  as well as how to counteract and even cure them. As a result of his studies, he specializing in healing and curative magics, but is just as capable of casting a vast array of magical spells, summons, and curses. Sounds good, sure... However, as mentioned before, Quinn is cursed.

Quinn could be considered 'emotionally unstable' by some definitions. He tends to bottle up his troubles, and push others away when they get too close. This is naturally unhealthy, and when his emotions and stress are allowed to culminate for too long... he 'vents' them. This 'venting' occurs in the form of him being involuntarily and magically transformed into a member of the opposite sex for an indeterminate amount of time. In this state, he's essentially the same person, and yet not; He retains his experiences, memories and skills, yet his mental outlook is altered by the magic of the curse. He becomes, in a sense, the polar opposite of himself—  Happier, more expressive, and overall a much 'simpler' person. This comes with unique consequences to his magical ability, as well, for as he would prior rely on his vast incantation repertoire, Quinn loses the ability to cast structured spells as a whole. In exchange, her ability to cast free-form magic and wield the elements—  from fire and ice, to life and primal magics, grows exponentially... often to unexpectedly overwhelming extents.

Relationships

Edith Lockmyre - The Blood Wolf, the currently unknown bane of Quinn's existence. Many, many years ago, on one of her many adventures across the world, Quinn's mother, Heather Matthews, came into contact with Edith while searching for a tome of spells-- one which might contain a remedial counterspell to Edith's cursed blood. Alas, Heather had heard of the many ill deeds of the Blood Wolf, and wasn't willing to risk the book potentially falling into the hands of one who might use it for evil. Thus, a short conflict occurred, resulting in Edith instilling the curse that inevitably led to her death.

History
Some people are born cursed. Others have curses thrust upon them. Quinn is one of the others. From a young age, he studied magic with his father, Garrett—  searching for a cure for a curse that afflicted his mother, who had been an avid adventurer before running afoul of a dangerous hexer. Many a year passed, and Quinn's knowledge of the arcane grew with each that did, yet even as his father, who suffered from illness even before his mother fell victim to a curse, began to weaken and tire, Quinn never stopped searching, not only for a way to save his mother, but also a means to restore his father. In the end, he could do neither, and watched as his mother succumbed to her curse, and his father died of illness the same year. This affected Quinn deeper than he could have dared to admit, even now—  And the only way he knew how to deal with the trauma of losing his parents after everything he'd done to attempt saving them was to throw himself further into his studies. He would do so throughout his young adulthood.

Quinn, however, had many a pitier and an admirer—  one of whom, a young woman roughly his age, sought to comfort him in his sorrow. She would spend many a night at his home, attempting to get him to speak to her, to open up about his trauma and let her help him heal, but the boy refused, night after night, and constantly pushed her away. Eventually, spurned one too many times, the girl did not come to him anymore. Instead, on what would prove to be the last night she would spend 'alive', she, by means unknown, came into contact with a very powerful demon—  one which preyed on the weakness in the hearts of humans. She made a 'deal' with this demon to 'help' Quinn—  If he wouldn't open up to her, she only asked that he was 'changed into someone who could share their feelings' instead. The demon, in it's own twisted way, honored her deal, at the price of her mortal soul. The girl fell into darkness after that, corrupted by her deal with the demon, becoming a demon herself... but that's another story.

The next morning, after having uncharacteristically slept in for many an hour, Quinn very much awoke a changed 'man'. He couldn't feel the traumas of his past weighing on his mind, or the burden of his parent's deaths weighing on his chest. He could, however, feel actual physical weight on his chest that definitely wasn't there before. He'd been transformed—  into a woman! And yet, in spite of this, the most pressing thing on his mind wasn't how to turn himself back. It was to get some food—  he... or well, 'she' was starving. Her hair was also quite a mess—  she absolutely had to fix it up a bit. A nice, long-drawn bath seemed like a really good idea as well. At the time, Quinn couldn't put a finger on this sudden change in thought processes, but he also didn't really care to.

Around Jadenshine, Quinn made her way—  stopping to speak with would've-been friends, and extended family members alike. Everyone who knew the young man prior to his 'transformation' could recognize him, yet couldn't figure out how or why 'he' had become 'she'. Eventually, after a fun, long day out on the town, Quinn returned him, kicked her shoes off, and fell asleep once more... Awakening in a cold sweat, dark and early, the next day. Now of sound mind and clear thoughts, the fear and realization of his circumstances set in—  Somehow, someway, just like his mother, he'd been cursed. Thus did Quinn spend, and does he currently spend, his many days uncovering every book, scroll and tombstone that could possibly contain such a hex, with every intention of breaking his new curse... all the while unable to control, understand, or even predict it.
