The building itself was nothing to match Tarquin's actual age and yet its own history was no more elusive.  Tarquin escorted her to the outside of the manor via the gates that kept out intruder and the maze that had taken many a robber seeking fortune in seeing what was to be had in an empty crypt.  Of course had any of these mortals made it past the maze (which was a one in a million chance) they would have surely been killed by the monster within.  Tarquin was no pushover about such matters as invasion.  Had not Rafaella revealed her passions to him, he would have no doubt killed her as soon as he'd taken her to his chambers.

But there were larger issues at hand, like this storm and the quick patching of the roof that he intended to take care of before he would have to buy more wood to make permanent repairs.  The manor itself, of which there was no name, had at least five floors and several turrets that reached toward the merciless black sky.  He could see there was a small section upon the lowest hall facing the east that had caved it.  It wasn't anything serious but nonetheless would take him a significant amount of time to fix, most especially if he set about the task alone.

Luckily for both of them this particular section of the roof was low enough that one could scale the balcony, perch upon the higher window sill and get up that way.  "We're going to have to get on the roof," Tarquin said bluntly as he turned to her.  He made no more efforts in explanation until after he approached the balcony and set upon throwing the tarp up there.  It landed with a slight splash and he proceeded to toss his tools in the same fashion.  Upon successfully doing so, he felt the walls with his hands, feeling the smoothness the rain made upon the stone walls.  "The walls are pretty slick," he explained, glancing at her.  "While I can get up here fine on my own, I don't think you could manage the same.  You might have to hold onto me while I climb up there because fixing this roof, even temporarily, is a two-person job.  I'm definitely going to need your help.  Ready?"  With that and one foot perched on a jutted ledge and others on the wall, he prepared for the climb but waited for her to wrap her arms around his neck so that he may proceed up to the roof.

[Sorry I took so long.  I kinda ran out of Tarquin Fuel and needed some time to think.]
