Well, I had a huge art block recently and to try and coax myself through it, I did a few speed drawings/paintings. This is one of them. An original character of mine named Karn Ult'arien.

No references used. D:

Yeh I do, though none of my art block speedpaints are on there, because... Well... I just didn't see them as worthy material.

The ability to speedpaint is something I so admire. <3

Good work, his hair looks so touchable.

I applaud your ability to draw that hair D: I'd not be able to do that.

Eh, speedpainting is something anyone can do and it's considerably less stressful than trying to be perfectionist about it. The results aren't as awe-inspiring but it can help to get things flowing again.

Actually the best way to get over an art block is to do intuitive traditional painting, but I don't have paints and canvas of my own. These are the things I've done with that therapeutic method:
First Painting | Second Painting

It's really satisfying and relaxing, and absolutely everyone can do it. It doesn't require 'talent' because it's all intuitive.

I miss finger painting. THAT was relaxing. I got to do it once last year, and I finger painted a rainbow :3 Yay.

I love the paintings.

Anonymous

Well that's almost how these start out. Basically, choose three colours that just 'call' to you, plus black and white, and then just start spreading them on the canvas however you feel to.

Anonymous

Sweet! That does sound fun.

I like contour line drawing, too.
