Vacation. Hooray.

Mitya, sweetie that she was, was looking after his own forest for him, half way around this world. The humans that lived near it were testy, and wanted their farm land back--never mind that Teva had been there first, thank you very much. But finally, a vacation. Teva was here, in what the humans locally called the Draconi Forest, visiting trees and so on.

He had found a tree that had been torn up by a bear of something, digging it's claws through it. Focusing on the tree, healing it so that the ruined flesh grew back quickly--quick enough to see--he didn't notice the crunch of someone approaching. And the plants did not clamor to tell him, either, so focused on collecting the power that leached off of him.

A nomadic life required careful measuring. Pacing, rationing, seasons, climate, and weathe were just a few things one had to be prepared for when setting off from one city to another. No one could predict these things to a precise formula, there was simple too much involved. So instead, one just had to make sure they were prepared.

Lucian was a man of cautious moderation. Progress wasn't incredibly fast, lest he cause his horse to die of exhaustion. Caius, a strong, black and golden gelding, certainly wouldn't be easy to replace; he wasn't just well bred, he and Lucian had traveled too long together. Losing him to anything other than old age would be a tragedy he did not want to endure if he could prevent it.

With business concluded in Adela's capital, and wanderlust in his heart, he set off towards La'marri. Traversing the forest was almost peaceful, but entirely uneventful. The halfbreed pushed aside a lock of hair and settled a little more relaxedly on top of Caius. He patted Caius' sturdy neck, flicking a rebelious stray of mane away.

"We'll stop for a little rest soon," he cooed. "I could use a stretch myself." An exaggerated dip of his head made Lucian smirk. He directed Caius around a tight cluster of trees and stopped abruptly at the sight before him. Surely it was strange enough to run into someone in the forest already, but to find someone transfixed on... Nothing?

After a few moments of staring, he cocked his head to the said and asked, "Excuse me?" He motivated Caius to take a few steps further and allow him a smooth dismount, boots touching down on the forest floor with a pat.

"Is there anything wrong?"

Teva looked up suddenly, hand jerking back from the tree and body spinning around in a move almost but not quite too fast for a human. The tree he had been working on gave a vigorous shake, loosing itself of dead leaves, leaving room for new ones--the wounds it had weren't all the way healed yet, but enough that the tree was busy trying to throw out new shoots.

After ascertaining that the new arrival probably didn't mean him harm, Teva did relax, and also smiled politely, saying, "No, sir, there is not." A pause, Teva looking around. They were rather quite deep in the forest. "What is a human nomad doing this deep in a forest?"
