Hey, hey, hey! We have got some great news. Over the coming week of the 9th of May we are doing a massive and MUCH needed site upgrade. There's going to be all kinds of cool new features as well as a return to some VERY missed and beloved ones such as live alert notifications and DRAFTS. That's right! They're coming back baby!!!!!! We could not be MORE excited for the new changes.

That being said there are a few housekeeping items that are VERY important.

PLEASE READ

1) If you use the bookmark feature on the website please MANUALLY back up your bookmarks individually to your browser or a writing document of links. We will temporarily lose this feature, but in doing so we will lose all our bookmarks. When the site is live again, you will have to manually re-add them again.

2) YES, we ARE backing up the website. (Technically we automatically do regularly already but we are doing an extra special JUST IN CASE one for this) Your threads, posts, profiles, etc are SAFE and will remain so. Do not panic!

3) DO NOT PANIC! The site may go down for several hours, be up and down for a while, and also temporarily look really hideous. The ship is not going down and the crew will be working hard to make it even better than before. There's a lot of complicated and tedious customization that needs to be done and we are very grateful for your patience in this matter. We will be working as fast and carefully as possible to get SotE back up and running better than ever before with all the amazing new features like DRAFTS.

4) It is highly advised that you save posts off-site before posting them during the period of time we are setting up the forum next week, just in case the website goes down in the middle of your work. There is nothing worse than writing a masterpiece and losing it the moment you hit submit. (Also why DRAFTS are going to be amazing!)

Just a quick tip update to aid in the bookmarks feature situation:

I found a link (https://www.techjunkie.com/copy-multiple-page-urls/#:~:text=Hold%20the%20Ctrl%20key%20and,the%20links%20to%20the%20Clipboard) to help with copying links en masse so you don't have to sit and do them one by one. Should be helpful for those that need to back up their bookmarks to a word document.

Alternatively, you could open all your saved bookmarks into a browser and then save them all as a folder.

Thanks for the heads up! Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

The upgrade will happen on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17th!

Please make sure you bookmark all your threads in your internet browser, because the site's bookmark feature will be temporarily gone. Unfortunately since the bookmarks feature is a mod, I'll have to install a fresh mod for it on the upgraded forum, so all your bookmarked threads will poof.

So make sure to bookmark them in your browser so that you can add them again once the new upgrade is complete! You have a week to do it! <3

Just a reminder to bookmark your threads if you haven't already, as the big forum upgrade will be happening today!

To give a rough estimate, it will be happening likely around 8pm PST. So depending on your time zone, that should give you a few hours! ;D I'll be putting the forum into Maintenance Mode when the time comes. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly!

Once the upgrade happens, things may look a bit wonky for a bit as I tweak the new layout and colors. Some modifications may also be missing for a time.

I will have to reinstall a fresh new bookmarks modification, so that should also be done tonight.

Bear in mind, the new mobile view on the new forum will be awesome! BUT expect the banner image to look like squishy trash on mobile view for a bit while I work on a solution! If you notice any weird colors (LIKE ORANGE. I AM LOOKING AT YOU, ORANGE. I HAVE BEEN HUNTING DOWN ALL ORANGE HEX CODES LIKE THE INQUISITION.) then let me know so I can fix it! <3

This is exciting! WE WILL HAVE DRAFTS. AND NOTIFICATIONS. AND ALL SORTS OF NEW STUFF.

No bookmarks mod yet, booo. The mod is one version out of date so we just have to wait for the author to update it. Which hopefully should be soon, fingers crossed!

I'm currently fixing some code issues in the forum index. But of course let me know if you encounter any bugs or weird colors!

We have bookmarks again! To bookmark a thread (or even an individual post), click the green heart icon next to the quote button on a post. Your bookmarks are accessible through your profile menu at the top left of the page. 8D

Adding to this bookmarks will not update in the way that they did previously. You'll need to use the alert system to better track threads or have your account setup to send you emails when someone replies. Alerts last up to three months.
