Though his reason for coming to Connlaoth fell under the category of "grave," Kabe had never been known to sulk or wear a frown. In fact, he somehow found himself distracted from his mission by a local bar, two women hanging off of his arms as he regaled them with false tales of his "repentance" and pulling away from the sin of magic.

"And that's when I punched him in his big ugly face, and I said, 'Sir, you are wrong! I can change! I will change!' And from that day I've worn this symbol on my chest," he indicated the church's mark on his shirt, having to quickly correct himself when he pointed to the wrong spot, "to prove to the world that I, Kabe, changed."

"Oh, you poor thing!" the girl to his left crooned.

"That horrible man had no right to talk to you that way. He deserved it," said the girl to his right.

"You've been through so much. How brave of you."

"No." Kabe shook his head, wearing his most convincing face of humility. "Not brave. I did what I had to. I only hope Ansgar can forgive me my sins."

More words of admiration and pity followed this. He soaked it in as a cat would the sun's warmth, his breast filling with satisfaction and his mind with more perverse fancies. All he had to do was play up the martyr act further, and he'd have the both of them in a bed before the night was through.

The girl on his left, a pretty thing of twenty or so with curves that would turn even the most celibate of men to believers, trailed her fingers up his arm in an almost hesitant manner, reminding him that Connlaoth, for whatever reason, wasn't keen on open displays of sexual affection. Even here in the lower part of the city, where polite society rarely roamed, there remained signs of it.

Brows lifting, he leaned forward in his chair, moving his glass of alcohol which had remained mostly untouched since his pleasant company had joined him. "Ladies, I'll admit a humble man like myself has little right to ask, but would you mind keeping me company tonight in the inn? I've coin to spare for a room, and I am wary to admit that I'm feeling particularly lonely this night."

The cautiously optimistic glint in their eyes told him all he needed to know, but before he could stand to go and ask for a room, he was reminded of why he'd come to the city in the first place. Sadly, it hadn't been to rendezvous with beautiful women. He sighed.

A middle-aged man, expression dark, approached him from the other side of the bar. He'd told the man to give him until well after the moon had risen, but clearly Detrik couldn't wait any longer.

"Shit, boy. We're not here for you to gallivant with any stupid woman who'll bat 'er eyelashes at some piss-poor story." The girls pulled back a little, clearly affronted by his friend's words. "Did you get the information from the bartender?"

"Mm. Yes, I did," Kabe said, seeing no point in going around the fact. But you could have waited until I was through, he thought. "Says her name's Ellarah. Comes here every so often. But she's not here tonight, so if you don't mind . . ." He turned back to his two women friends, gracing them with an apologetic and what-can-a-humble-man-like-myself-do-but-comply-with-this-man smile.

To his dismay, one of them was walking away, looking confused and startled, but the other remained. "Should I wait until you're through with . . . him?" she asked, nodding her head in contempt toward Detrik. She apparently didn't want to have anything to do with him, what with that disdainful frown on her face.

"Oh, would you? Here," he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small coin purse, "buy a room for us, and any room service you want with the extra." He hoped she wasn't the type to run off with it, though he had more tucked away were something like that to happen. "I'll be with you shortly."

Thankfully, she nodded, looking excited as she then hurried over to the innkeeper behind the bar. Kabe watched her taut, round bottom bounce along as she walked, before turning back to his male "friend," still smiling. "You know I won't abandon you, not with the particular threat you have hanging over my head, so you don't have to barge in like that and ruin things."

"Find the damned girl."

"You'd think you had dogs biting your balls, you're so jumpy," Kabe remarked, but he sighed again and moved the man aside as he made his way back to the bartender, who was waiting handing some bottles over to a couple of men at a table. Why couldn't Detrik find this Ellarah on his own, was what he'd've liked to know.

Rain, rain soaked leather, and tea; the few words that could explain her predicament.

"Ugh," the red head groaned as she made her way down the cobblestone streets. "It just had to fuckin' rain before I got to the bloody the inn."
It had been threatening to rain for the past hour, and no matter how swiftly her legs were carrying her from the wooded trail and into the city, the clouds followed her, carrying in upon heavy winds from the North.  She shivered, adjusted the weight of the clothe bag over her shoulder and brushed her wet, unruly hair out from her green eyes as she sighed again and squinted, trying to recall what street she was on so she could get to a damn tavern and warmed by a fire, and some drink.

That seemed to be what all of her day entailed on her long travels on the road. She wasn't famous for being a smuggler ( she had a pretty discrete business, despite her loud mouth...) So when it was offered for her to escort tea for some large sum of cash (and not a lot of tea at all, just a stupid bag full), well, she couldn't resist a little easy cash, especially if it meant she could stop at the local taverns along the way. She frequented quite a number in Uthlyn these days, having found easy money near the scholared types who didn't want to get their hands dirty (especially with all of the talk about mages and war and blah-de-blah). So she stayed near here, since the chaos hadn't really touched this city, (even if the threat and fear was there). Something about a new grand duke, the othe rbeing killed by a mage. But it was all politics and so long as it was lining her purse with coin, she didn't care much how things were molding about within her own country. So when she saw the familiar light of the tavern, her eyes lit up.

"Thank Angsar's ball sacks I'm on the right street." She rubbed at the rain that was pouring down upon her, tickling down her hair and nose, adjusted the bag of tea (which for all she knew, was getting ruined by the rain...) and stepped right on up tot he door, threw it open without a care and stepped on in.

The door slammed behind her, the clothe sack dropped to the ground carelessly like a sack of potatoes as Ellarrah took a empty bar stool at the other end of the bar.

"Hey there, Winston," she said, giving hte man a cheeky grin as she scooted forward on her bar stool. "Give me the tallest glass of your cheapest stuff, and keep it coming."

Winston only chuckled, seeming to already have her order in tow.
"You were gone all week. I thought you weren't coming back."

Ellarrah groaned and gave a shake of her head, the rain still dripping down constantly from her hair and pooling at the grounds around her, the waters even rivering down her body, hugging around her curves and her ample bossom that was nearly bursting out from her clothes.
"Well, I was contemplating about going to Reajh, but things are quieter here, that's for sure." She flipped her wet hair off from over her shoulder and took the offered mug of ale from the bar tend with a happy grin.

"Ah, you always know how to charm a girl, Winston," she said with a wink and leaned back in her stool, crossing one leg over the other as she down the drink in a few hefty gulps and ordered some more. Winston naturally obliged. He was an older man with a greying beard and a bald head, a single scar above his eye, and a few over his knuckles. He had been running this bar most of his life, having been lucky enough to acquire the coin and correct licenses to do so. And  on this side of Uthlyn, business was booming.

"So any more word on these silly mage laws reaching here? I heard something's going on North, but I haven't really paid much attention to that," Ellarrah said, giving a scratch to her hair like a dog scratching at fleas. Her thick red hair was cumbersome and heavy from the rain, and as much as she'd like to ignore it, she was forced to collect it all in one gloved hand as she began to wring it out carelessly onto the tavern floor, the waters collecting into the pool that was already there at her feet.

"Can't say much has happened. Seems the whole city is holding it's breath. Waiting to see what will happen," Winston said with a shrug.

Ellarrah groaned. "Well, I tell ya, I just hope this gets resolved quickly. It's bad for any sort of business near the capital, I tell ya, and as much as I like it here, the town is too scholarly for me. Too many artsy fartsy people with froo-froo 'dos and books carried under their arms." She laughed a little, the noise a little rough in it's song. "I'll never understand those sorts. Give me a sword and the open road, that's the life for me." And she tipped her drink to Winston on that.

"So will ya be havin' any soup this evening?" he inquired.

Ellarrah sighed, drummed her fingernails at the edge of the table and shrugged.
"Sure, why the bloody hell not? A nice big, piping hot bowl ought to do." And she plopped a gold piece on the table, which Winston slipped away with a nod and disappeared to the other side to collect her food, which had been cooking over the hearth all night.

Shivering, Ellarrah took a look around the place. It seemed to be busy enough, probably due to the rain forcing people inside as a hand worked at brushing off the water collecting between her boobs. How irritating. And not seemign to care she was in public, she loosened the strings a little on her shirt, enough to let her cleavage not become so well 'pressed', so that hte waters tucked within could dribble out down her belly, before sinching the strings back together into a tighter knot with a groan. There felt to be water just about everywhere, and as hse turned about in her stool she called over to Winston, one arm leaning agaisnt the bar.

"Say, you got any rooms for the night?" When he nodded, her eyes lit up. "Give me one of them, too. It's been a long day and I ain't about to sleep on the streets in this sort of weather!"

The smell of rain reached him as the door to the tavern opened. Apparently it had started raining since he'd come, and hard by the sound of it. When he looked up to see for himself, however, all thoughts of weather flew out of his head.

Great Kia above, it was as if two giant boobs had come to take shelter from outside. Two beautiful, buoyant boobs. Wet boobs. Barkeeper completely forgotten, his legs took him straight toward them, a bright smile alighting on his face as he took the time to take in the rest of the woman. Everything about her, boobs especially, made him want to sweep her off her feet and carry her away to a private room.

Not to mention she was completely soaked, leaving little to the imagination (not that her clothes didn't already do enough of that on their own).

He only caught bits of her conversation, but he didn't hesitate to make himself comfortable in a chair next to her and say, "I've already got a room, if you wouldn't mind sharing. Won't need to pay or anything." At least not in cash. The thought made his smile broaden. No real need for formalities in a seedy bar, right?

Ellarrah purposely ignored the man who had taken perch in the stool beside her, though when he talked, it was like nails on a chalk board. Turning to him, she cut him a sharp glare.
"Are you looking for a punch in the face?" she wasn't in the mood for sweet talking, and besides, she knew his type in a place like this. Rolling her eyes, she turned back to Winston.
"So about that room.."

Winston only gave her a helpless look and a shrug.

"I gave my last room away an hour ago. Sorry, Ellarrah," he said with a  shrug, then avoided her eye contact as he went back to polishing out a glass.

Swearing under her breath, she shook her head. "Fine, whatever, just give me another drink of whatever you got." And she tossed her head back, taking down more of her drink. "This is going to be one long bloody night." Then she squished her boobs together as she leaned forward in thought. "Say, I wonder if Jay's place has any vacancies."
Never mind the stupid man beside her trying to offer up a room. SHe would level him if he tried to ask again.

Oh, he liked this one. Strong, independent--what so few women could claim to be. She had a fierce personality whose fire drew him nearer, his metaphorical hands reaching out for warmth. Or maybe they wanted a feel for the boobs. Either way.

"Wouldn't be the first time my face has been threatened--among other bodies parts," he said with a pleasant grin, "and it won't be the last, I'm sure." Kia only knew how many attempts had been made at his crotch, both for abusive means and . . . other means.

He made no move other than to continue staring, especially after the bartender had spoken. There could be no way that Kabe had misheard him there. Could it really be that much of a coincidence?

"Here I've been asking about you all night, and all I really had to do was sit and wait for you to pop up," he said. Laughing, he reached up to sweep some of his hair out of his face. "A . . . friend . . . of mine has been looking for you. Might be worth your time to talk to him."

Ellarrah would have been content to continue submerging herself in alcohol when that persistent man beside her decided it would be 'cute' to talk again. She glared daggers at the back of Winston's head as he continued to ignore her, only informing her he 'didn't know' with a shrug and moved to tend to the other patrons at the far end of the bar. Her eyes continued to burn holes in the back of his head. But what surprised her more than Winston's lack of help was Kabe's persistence...

and also the fact he mentioned he had been looking for her.
Turning towards him, her glare hardened.
"That'st the worst pick up line if I ever heard one," Ellarrah retorted, wrinkling her nose while she flicked her unruly hair off of one shoulder. But when he mentioned he had a friend, she had to roll her eyes, assuming the worst and it was an innuendo.
"Talk about what's between your legs like that again and I'll kick it in so hard you'll turn into a woman." She batted her eyes prettily at him, then turned sourly away, waving over towards Winston as she had finished her drink.

"Hey Winston!" she slammed the empty glass angrily upon the table. "I need a few more!"
