__________________QUICK STATS
Name Brynhalla
Pronounced BR EYE N  HALL UH
Nick Names Bryn, Bren, Brenna, Bryna (Bren's normally how her name or nick's are pronounced, considering when she was younger- she had a hard time pronouncing it other wise)
Age 19
Gender female
Species human
Ethnicity barbarian! RAR - also known as the Tribe of the Vahltrysse (or something- name is tentative!)
Height 5'7"
Occupation priestess (although this is completely against her will!)
Residence Serha Plains (or as they call it- The Grand Steppe) *not sure if this is in the Serha Plains or somewhere in the Moraki :T (thinkin' it somewhere in between...)

The Grand Steppe is an area of sandy, flat grass lands that stretch on for miles and are bordered by plateaus to one side, and the desert on the other. In the center is a sacred Oasis known as The Sacred Oasis of Tuhla where the priestess live and most of the tribesman visits from time to time for religious purposes. All are to bathe and drink of the waters, said to be blessed by their patron goddess: Athra

Another known location her tribe speaks of a lot is the Pyre- a wicked series of natural burning fires that reside deep underground in caverns that stretch for miles beneath the  Grand Steppe. The Pyre is where your body is burned when you transcend from this life to the next. If you fall and are not burned in the Pyre, you will forever wander the earth as a spirit and may never meet again with the souls of those before you, or even ascend to meet the great Goddess Athra herself.

The Vale- is a scared cove of land that resides in the mountains far to the west. It houses a lush paradise only a select few are allowed to go visit- the this select few of the chosen ones of the clans and are normally married couples. The Vale is small and hard to find, and has cliffs on all sides but a 'sacred garden' and 'fountain' residing in it's center. It's said that those who find the sacred fountain in the vale and are truly blessed, if they drink from it-t hey will live forever. It is also said that married couples can only conceive children here- or else they might risk their child becoming tainted and claimed by chaos. But a child conceived in the garden is said to rise one day to become a God.

The Plateaus are sacred and act as a boarder because of a natural marking on the stone known as Hahrsriss's Eye (a pale marking that looks similarly to the 'Eye of Horus' seen in Ancient Egypt). Hahrsiss was one of the dark forces that opposed Athra during the Battle of Judgement (which was the mythical battle believed to be fought by Athra and her Valkyries in order for her to take ruling over the Kingdom of Men. He and his dark forces were vanquished from this world,a nd the symbol for Hahrsiss is that of a bleeding eye (eye with a bloody tear drip in the center).

There is another cursed place the Vahltrysse dare not go, and that's the swamp lands to the north. Dead, skeletal trees reside here and it's said the cursed spirits trapped in this world congregate here. But most importantly, it is the home of the Bogdahd that is said to be the eater of man, the eater of souls.

The 'Vahltrysse': Named after the winged warrioresses of judgement (Valkyeries), The Vahltrysse are a clan of barbarians who pride themselves on Honor and War. Always at odds with the Dujhari people of the plain, and the more cut throat and less organized bandits strewn throughout these wild lands; the Vahltrysse rarely find themselves losing a battle for- just like their Adelan brethren, they pride themselves and practice daily in the arts of war.

Common weapons used are spears, clubs and jagged knives- which are used often during hunts and practices. Swords are not uncommon and are always brandished during war. Swords for the Vahltrysse are typically thicker and have wider blades than those of their more 'civilized' cousins to he North. It is famed if struck hard enough, a Vahltryssian blade can cut through any other blade.

Religion
The Vahltrysse believe in a pantheon of Gods with its' center focus on the Goddess of Judgement- Athra. They do not believe these Gods represent good or evil, but are a center focus in our universe involved with using their powers to promote balance and smite chaos. Athra's chosen children are said to come from the seed of men, and only a select few are ever born as mortals and ascend. It is aid those that are branded with the mark o fa Valkyrie (an angel wing like mark on their body)- then they are destined to become a chosen warrior for Athra- and eventually, after death, to ascend to the next realm as a Valkyrie and help to assist her in her ever lasting war and judgement of men's souls.

The Calling
All priestess's are 'chosen' after participating in a ceremony when they come of age. If the young woman is destined to become a priestess, she will pick the straw basket containing a white feather. If she picks a basket that is empty- she will remain with the clan to help maintain the village, go on hunts and help raise the children.

Priestess
The soul responsibility of a priestess is to remain pure (a virgin) for her goddess and to keep the oasis pure from the taint of any outsiders. Failure to do so could result in exile, or death.

The Kalil
The men that are assigned to protect the Valkyries are known as the Kalil. They are "ascended" men that are supposed to be superior warriors, fighter, hunters, and serve as counsel to their respective Valkyries and are bound only to them, much like the doctrines of taking a mate.  Except the Kalil and their Valkyries are not supposed to mate with each other and are to remain chaste, in honor of their Goddess Athra.

When a Kalil bonds with his Valkyrie, it is an oath he undertakes more serious than vows of marriage.  When it is decided that he is in fact a Kalil, he must perform the Blood Oath, a pact with his Valkyrie that states he is bound to her and must protect her with his life.  They each take a dagger across their palms and spill their blood into a cup filled with blessed wine.  Once it is thoroughly mixed the Kalil drinks the blood-wine to ensure his bond, then must undertake a Meditation into the desert, naked, with only his chosen weapon, lasting three days and three nights, in a tent.  He sweats out the toxins and weaknesses from his body, purified now by the blood of his Valkyrie.  And if he emerges from the intense heat, largely unscathed, he becomes a Kalil, his body now stronger, faster, and more precise than other mortal men.  They do not ail from their diseases, nor suffer the same fatigue, and fight with superior tactic and skill than other mortal warriors.

Mating/Wives
A man can mate with as many women as he wants, but once a wife is taken he is to be completely devoted to her. In order to marry, a man needs the permission of her father and the Martisse. Mating and Marriage are seen as different, as marriage to a Valkrisse woman means you must be devoted entirely to your partner and only mate with them. These unions are rare because the couple are believed to be soul mates- a love destined by the Gods. Being married allows the married couple to come and leave the tribe as they please, as it is believed their union is meant to be sacred and they are meant to do great things in honor of their Gods.
Soulmates love is often tested before the sacred marriage ritual is performed, and it varies on the tasks from couple to couple and is interpreted by the Martisse.

Ritual of Aghmuhl-
Once every blood moon, the entire clan of Vahlkrisse unite together in an opiate induced ceremony of sex, where many men and women pair off and slip into candle lit tents in hopes to conceive. All men and women who are not promised to the church have to participate, unless the female is on the rag- in which she is to spend her evening in the Oasis, cleansing herself from sin.
Men and women alike are supported to mate more than once and with more than one man/ woman if they so desire. The ritual is meant to last the entire night.
The ceremony is named off of the male god Aghmuhl who was the only God able to impregnate Athra. Sometimes men will dress like him and paint his symbol in the middle of their forehead. Sometimes women will do the same. Women and men who are not paired can sometimes participate in a blind folded selection process, where they are placed into the center of the camp wearing nothing but a blind fold and the first man or woman they 'capture' they are to drag off into a tent and make love to. One a union has begun inside a tent, the man must release his seed before either is allowed to leave or take another mate.

Society
Men rule the tribe and lead the hunts and war, women rule the Sacred Oasis of Tuhla. Only women are claimed to be connected to the Goddess, there for a select few virgin maidens reside here to maintain their sacred water source said to believed to be the conception sight of Athra's only daughter- Tuhla. Men are seen to be the protectors of man, which is why their focal point is ruling the tribe rather than their religion.

The Martisse is the name of the female leader of their religious cult. She's also known as the Mother of Virgins and keeps order at the sacred oasis temple. She's responsible for interpreting the dreams of her virginal sisters; and also, to ensure the virgin's remain that way.

The Mavrahk is the name of the male leader of the tribe. He is normally the wisest and strongest of the clan and leads his people into hunts and battles. His decision is the end all be all, except where religion is concerned. It is uncertain that, if religion and clan matters intersect, who is to win in the dispute.

Right of Challenge- this happens often when one member of the village challenges another over varying matters from wedding proposals, rights of land, rights of women, horses and the right to lead. Both men and women can invoke this, though normally each fight is one on one and gender exclusive (so men only fight men, and women, women) Though on rare occasions will a man fight a woman to keep her in line. The reason their battles are kept separate as they are quite secular in their notion of gender roles and believe each gender has a specific purpose, and one has no right to challenge the other's role but due to their ruling system, there are shades of grey on this matter where male and female rules and roles over lap and disputes, though infrequent, do happen.

Punishment
There are two forms of punishment. You will either be exiled from the clan (by being branded as a traitor then driven out by the entire tribe)- which is normally done violently and the exiled person is stoned and struck many times as they run away (and it is not uncommon if they are struck down dead before they can get away...); or left to die at the hand of the Bogdahd in the Northern Swamp. If you're sentenced to death, you'll wear a crown of thorns on your head and be bound to the Tree of Sin (a large, gnarled, dead tree that hangs over a massive rock that juts out of the swampy waters). Here you are left to be inevitably devoured by the monster, the Bogdahd.

The worst all offenders will suffer the Hungdai- where their eyes are torn out and fed to the snakes, poison is injected into their body by a scorpion's tail or serpent's bite; and then the whole city with flog you before you are eventually cast out to be eaten by the Bogdahd itself.

Physical Description
Tall, well muscled- Bryna's got a body that was designed for fighting. She's got wild, untamable shaggy gold-pink hair that, in certain lights appear blonde, while others, it appears to be a pale pink color. Her eyes are equally as finicky, appearing varying shades of yellow- from coppers, to gold and sometimes even appearing almost a brick like color- while sometimes her eyes can appear a greenish-silver, or blue.

Bryna has a rough and tumble appearance to her with a strong face and nose, high cheek bones and thick lips. Her skin, though soft, is rather rough on her hands and feet from years of climbing trees, fighting boys, and playing in the dirt.

By choice- she'll wear a lot of animal hide fashioned armor, and a thick band around her forehead that loops around her head and ties back just over her hair in the back. When hunting, she'll crown her head with a dead pheasant that she fastened into her hair. She also wears a lot of feathers tied into her hair from the birds she has killed in the past and her preferred weapon of choice are a bow and arrow, but she does know how to use a bo staff and spear- and by her friend and father's training, a sword.

The spear she prefers to use when hunting, and finds herself just as well at it as the men. She prefers to go bare foot, but will often times adorn a pair of sandals that wrap around up her calves or thin boots made of hide or leather. Occasionally her outfit will be accented with some thin metal pieces of armor.

As a priestess, she's forced to wear pure white robes that cover most of her body (minus her arms) and a layer of clothe over her head that covers most of her hair, but keeps her face exposed. She loathes her priestess dress like no other. She'd rather wear the skimpy fur-trimmed hide hunting attire she's used to- or even some men's armor. But even she sees the need for skirts, so she rarely wears pants, if at all.

During ceremonies or on hunts, she'll wear body paint.

Personality
Young, Rebellious and believing even women should choose their own destiny, Brynhalla is very much a strong headed woman who fervently clutches to her freedom of youth. Hailing from a race of barbarians who believe, if chosen, when are to serve their gods as virgin priestesses, Brynhalla found out she was chosen to join the priestesses and immediately began to become more abrasive and rethinking the notions of their Gods- believing that clearly, their words must have been misinterpreted somewhere as she believes and desires her life to be elsewhere, not as a priestess confined to protecting a boring Oasis! Besides, she is anything but priestess material.

She's always honest, keeping her opinion at the tip of her tongue and never stops short to tell others how she fells. She doesn't let things like gender get in her way- even ifs he gets in trouble for it- and strives to understand past the gender roles and desires equality and acceptance above all else. However, problems tend to arrive when she feels the desire to hold her tongue, or becomes seriously afraid of the consequences that she feels the need to spin lies or bend the truth. But she always feels her reasons are justified. She feels as if she has no other choice.

When left to her own devices, she lives by the moment, careless and free spirited and thriving on honor and glory- what her race of people are known to be and strive to become. She wants to prove her worth to her people, to her Gods, and to the world. ANd sometimes, because of how confined she feels, she'll risk even her life in foolish pursuits.

Magic/Abilities
Unbeknowest to her, she possesses the fierce warrior powers of the winged Valkyries whom her people believe are female fighters blessed by the Gods to pass judgement against all sorts- both good, evil and those inbetween. They're wranglers of chaos and obey their Goddess of Order, Athra, above all else.

Archery- she is one of the best in her clan

Swordsman ship/ fighting - hailing from a clan of war loving fighters, she has been taught well by her two famous, warrior parents

Relationships
Thoronir- an 'acquaintance' but soon to be more!
Darkrom- half brother (has greasy, somewhat curled black hair that's normally slicked out of his face and worn to about his chin in length, rarely much longer than that). He also has the same strange eyes as Bryn, except his seem to remain a golden yellow or green.
Fahnill- Father
Varessia- Mother
Thorobear- bloodbay stallion
Valkier- only hunch back of the clan- works primarily tending to the bond fire's and cooking
Vaxxem- Darkrom's crippled father

History
Brynhalla was always a restless young woman, and in her youth, trained constantly- wanting to be as famous as a fighter as her mother and father had been. Her parents, being the few ones of her clan that ever married- set off a lot of dramatic, romantic emotions within Brynhalla that inspires her desire for so much more out of her own life as she strives for the best and wants the best, be it as a warrior- or even her own future time when she'll discover love.
