Title: The Learned Society of Antiquarians
Post by: MadEmperor on February 23, 2023, 02:04:58 PM
~The Learned Society of Antiquarians~

Description
The Antiquarians are a secret society dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, new or lost to time.

Philosophy
The Antiquarians were founded on the teachings of Zodia, ancient goddess of learning, as passed down by the founder of the order. Knowledge itself is neither good nor evil, nor the pursuit of it; it is the use for which it is gained that matters.

To the Antiquarians, this means that the pursuit of knowledge justifies all means of doing so. No church or government has any right to interfere. Nor should the members interfere with each other. They are, however, allowed to collaborate.

Who may join?
Mages and scientists of all specialties.

Organization Location
The High Home: A secret meeting place whose true location is known only to the Grandmagus. It is accessed by a network of teleportation circles scattered across Le'raana, which can only be reached by offering blood to a magical mechanism in the hidden door the circles lie behind.

Additional Information
Joining
New Adepti may only be recruited by a Magus or higher. Membership must then be reviewed by no fewer than two other Magi. No one may join as a Magus (OOC: Characters can be existing members).

Advancement
To earn their status as Magi, Adepti must present the results of their individual research to a panel of selected Magi, led by an Archmagus.

Bylaws
Violators are brought before a council of five Magi and two Archmagi. Whether expulsion or death is warranted depends on the degree of interference and what secrets of society the violator is privy to.
