Title: Revenge is Forever
Post by: Anonymous on February 05, 2005, 08:11:56 PM
Ayeth walked into the Adela Village.  She had come here because of the siege occurring in Serendipity.  It wasn't that she was afraid, she just thought it ridiculous to fight when she could just travel to another Kingdom and continue earning money by trapping.  Granted, she had been travelling awhile on foot, trapping animals for food.  She needed no more than that really.  The ground was just as good a bed as any inn could possess and a river was a better bath than she would normally allow herself to take.  She now had plenty of pelts that she could sell while she was in Adela for ridiculously low prices.  She was glad that she didn't mug anyone this journey out of desperation.  She hated herself when she became desperate enough to kill pathetic beings just to steal their money and belongings, to her, it was a sign of weakness and incompetence.  She found an inn and walked in, renting herself a room for a week.  When she was finally sprawled out upon the innroom bed she linked her fingers behind her bed and thought of the other reason she had come to Adela : She had found out her father was here, somewhere, hiding...

It's really hard to avoid running into people when one has a book in front of their nose, but Rhian was well practiced in it. So now, she wasn't at all concerned as she wandered the streets of Adela, a heavy, old-looking book under one arm and her notebook open in front of her. She couldn't risk opening the book here - several of teh pages were loose, they might fall or something - but she could study her notes and see what she what she'd read so far. Analize, plan. It was impossible to study magic in her home, cosidering it was illegal and all. Here, she could learn all she wanted. Maybe there was a library or something in the Castle... she wouldnt' know unless she figured out a way to get the guards to let a 16 year old in.
Distracted by her plans and her messily written notes, Rhian wasn't paying attention to the unfarmiliar streets. Which is probably why she ran right into Ayeth.

Ayeth staggered under the force of the blow as a girl walked straight into her.  The wind was knocked right out of her.  She got to her feet with knife drawn sputtering and spitting the dirt out of her mouth.

"You idiot!  Can you not even do the simple task of looking where you are going?"  Then she noticed the book that the other girl was holding in front of her. "Do you not know that reading while walking is one of the stupidest things you could possibly do?"  Pause, then, "Well, speak up, have you lost your tongue?  Are you about to apologise or shall I help you atone for your rudeness?"

((AHH! I just re-read the whole RP and realized you were at the inn when I ran into you. Hee, I messed up, sorry! Thank you for pretending I knew what was going on ^_^'))
The book Rhian was holding fell to the ground, it's slightly brown pages scattering as the spine hit the street. Her notes flew in another direction entirely, the cover of the notebook getting splashed with mud from the rain of yesterday afternoon. Before even bothering to look at the person she'd run into she rushed to gather the pages of the book, and it was only after she'd gathered the old text and notebook and was wiping the mud away that she turned to Ayeth.
"I'm the idiot? Do you have any idea how valuble this book is?" she demanded, her face going slightly red in anger. "This is practically one of the Ancient Texts, and you could have ruined it!" That wasn't entirely true. The Ancient Text were books written before the earth's distruction and recreation a few centuries ago, rare and often impossible to read when they were found. There was no way Rhian could have gotten her hands on one of those, much as she would have liked to. But the book on magic she had was rare and valuble all the same, and it infuriated her that the ignorant, violent person she'd managed to run into didn't seem to realize the damage they might have done to her wonderful treasure of a book. She glared at Ayeth, not seeming to realize the demand for an apology.

[[OOC: Ah, dont worry about it. *grin* I've done that enough times myself I shouldn't wonder.]]

Ayeth's eyes blazed with an inner demon that was ready to be unleashed at any moment.  This girl had run into her and now here she was telling that she, Ayeth herself, was responsible and in the wrong.  She had been wronged too many times for her just to take this accusation quietly.  She grabbed the girl in front of her by the shoulders and forced her to look at her in the eye.

"Are you deaf as well as stupid?  Did you not hear me?  I demand an apology and I want it now." Ayeth drew her knife out once more. "Or do you need some help loosening your tongue?"
Title:

Under any other circumstances, Rhian would have stubbornly continued arguing, but she usually didn't have a knife in her face.  "Threatening poor defenseless people with knives, are we? How admirable. Fine. I apologize for running into you. Now will you please get your pointy toy out of my face?" She asked, not a hint of sincerity in her voice as she apologized. She'd always had a sort of dislike for people who relied on weapons, most likely because she lacked the coordination necesary to weild one, but also because she found they were all rather dense. She turned her attention back to her book, studying the spine and frowning at the growing crack, mostly so that Ayeth couldn't tell she was actually somewhat frightened by the threat. The other girl looked angry enough to actually do something stupid, that would result in harm to Rhian's person or her books, both of which circumstanes would be disasterous.

Ayeth knew the girl in front of her was lying when she said her "apology", but she couldn't be bothered with this pitiful creature in front of her.  She removed the knife and sheathed it but kept one hand on the girl's shoulder.

"Very well then.  Give me your name, or something I can remember you by."

This was something that Ayeth did to all who offended her, even in the silghtest possible way.  She kept note of all the names should she manage to obtain them and always swore to have revenge.  It seemed stupid to all others, but it meant a lot to Ayeth herself.  The girl in front of her again didn't seem to hear the demand for a name.  This irked Ayeth more than anyone could imagine.  She snarled quietly, almost becoming animalistic.

"Tell me," she hissed. "Or something will happen to you that you shall regret."

Rhian rolled her eyes, pulled away from the one hand that held her shoulder, and swept into an overly dramatic bow, carefully balancing her books. "Rhian the scolar, at your service." she said brightly, wondering in an offhand sort of way what Ayeth could want her name for at all but figuring it couldn't be too important. "And you are...?"

((Ahh!!! Short short. Gomen ne, it's early in the morning and I'm braindead.  :D  ))

[[OOC: It's early here too.  Oh well.  Short posts, short and sweet]]

"Rhian..." Ayeth murmured.  "I'll be sure to remember that name."

"And what is your name?" the Rhian asked.

"Ayeth, and you would do well to remember that name."  She looked around the room to make sure no one else was paying attention to her and quickly dragged Rhian into the corner.  "Do you know if a certain Othrem Tairya is residing is this village?" she asked.

"I don't know, and unless the Zanter person has old books, extensive knowledge of dead languages, or any means of getting me into the castle where they might have a library or something, then don't care." Rhian said in an offhand way. She'd only just arrived herself, and her only purpose in coming here at all was so she could study magic without getting her head lopped off by some extremist or another who thought magic was the source of all evil. It was terribly inconvinient having to hide her books and notes all the time. But then again, it was proving hard enough just to get her hands on books. She'd been hoping some castle or another would have a library, and she'd be able to get her hands on some books so her insane theories might be believed by someone for once.

Post by: Anonymous on February 11, 2005, 08:05:53 PM
Ayeth pondered upon this slight problem for a couple of moments.  She believed that this girl might be able to help her, but wouldn't unless she, Ayeth, gave her something in return.

"Help me, and I'll get you into the castle," she offered.

This was all that she could think to say.  This girl Rhian in front of her seemed to be completely and solely absorbed in books.  Even to the point of reading while walking.  Surely she, Ayeth, could easily get her into the castle under the cover of darkness.  She wanted this girl's help.  If this girl truely knew something of the magics of the world, which she looked as if she did, judging by the book she was reading, she could be a great help to Ayeth.

"So, what do you think?" she said, waiting for an answer.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on February 12, 2005, 04:32:55 PM
Rhian frowned thoughtfully. "I'm guessing however you'd get me into the castle would be sneaky, underhand, and/or illegal, right?" she asked, sighing. She'd been hoping not to resort to that but it didn't seem she'd have a choice.

"So, what is it you need my help with?" she asked, hoping very much that she could actually help with whatever it was. And that Ayeth would hold up her end of the deal and get her into the castle. This had far too many uncertainties for Rhian's liking, but she needed a plan, and Ayeth seemed like she'd be able to come up with one.

[[OOC: *thinks* Now, must formulate a plotline *grin*  haven't thought of one yet.]]

Ayeth smirked at this girl's obvious disdain at the thought of sneaking into the castle illegally.  Well, she would have seen more than just that by the end.

"What I want you to do is simple enough if you have the magic and social skills that I believe you have."  Hearing no reply she continued.  "As I said before, I am looking for a certain Zantar Tairya.  All I need you to do is locate him and either bring me to him or him to me.  That's all I want from you, and then," here she paused for effect, "I get you into the castle." Ayeth glared at Rhian, daring her to refuse. "Agreed?"
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on February 13, 2005, 12:39:40 PM
Magic and social skills... was Ayeth talking about Rhian or someone else? As far as Rhian knew her only skills were an ability to remember loads of completely random facts and the ability to make almost anyone crazy, neither of which would be helpful for finding whoever it was. But it wasn't as if Ayeth knew that, so she might as well give it a try.

"Agreed, then. Tell me everything I might need to know about this Tairya person - who he is, where I might find him, ecetera... and I'll see what I can do."
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on February 13, 2005, 03:47:48 PM
Ayeth smiled at Rhian's acceptance.

"Zantar Tairya, he looks somewhat like me I would think.  Not exactly sure, I haven't seen him in a long time.  But he being my father, there should be some physical resemblance.  He's a drunkard who likes to hang out at the bawdiest bars.  I would suggest looking at the ones that offer 'pleasant company' for the night.  If you know what I mean." She looked at the girl, hoping that she was absorbing all of this.  "I think that's about all you need to know.  I'm sure someone with your stealth could manage to slip in a question about his name.  Once you've found him, bring him to me or me to him.  It's simple enough."  Looking at Rhian again. "Any questions?"
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on February 14, 2005, 06:03:12 PM
Rhian's eyes got wide as Ayeth described the person she was supposed to be looking for. 'Pleasant company...' Rhian was often clueless due to the fact that she spent most of her time reading books rather than talking to people, but that didn't sound good... 'Bawdiest bars' didn't give the most happy mental image, either. She wondered vaugelly if Ayeth realized that she was sending a 16 year old with little social and no self-defense experience to go find whoever it was, but figured it was best to not mention anything.

She took a deep breath and said, "Okay then. How will I contact you once I've found him?"

((and, if I actually get to Rp searching for him, are you going to play him?))
Title:

[[OOC: I believe I shall have to play, am I not correct?  But the confrontation might be a little difficult.  Ah well, I shall have to leave enough time to think of that.  Or I could get one of my friends to play him.]]

"Contact me?" the question seemed almost humourous in Ayeth's ears.  "You shall know how to contact me when the time comes."  Rhian looked as if she wanted to say more but Ayeth quickly continued. "Don't ask how, or why.  Just know.  Lure him away from the crowd and...I will take care of the rest."
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on February 15, 2005, 04:29:44 AM
Something about that sounded more ominous then the rest of the strange little conversation, if that was possible. "You're planning something illegal, aren't you?" she asked, glaring at Ayeth then sighing. She should have seen that coming, as if there was anything she could do about it. "Don't get caught, I'll be in trouble to."

She thought for a moment, trying to make sure she wasn't missing some important piece of information, and decided she wasn't. "Okay. I have to put this away" she gestured toward her book and notes, "and come up with some sort of plan," she hesitated for a moment,  unsure of what to say, then said, "Um, bye," and started walking away, wondering vaugely what she was getting herself into.

[[OOC: Ah yes, I've fixed my 'father' problem.  One of my friends (Draculax) is willing to play him.]]

Ayeth watched the girl walk away with a slight smirk on her face.  Illegal? of course, what else would she be planning?  And her, Ayeth, get caught?  Never in a million years.  She knew she would go to any extent to have her revenge, but this young girl, getting her entangled in such a sticky situation?  Ayeth brushed the thought aside with a snort.  Letting Rhian get far enough ahead of her for Rhian not to notice her, she began to follow Rhian through the crowd, never letting her out of her sight for a moment.

Rhian returend to the inn she'd been staying at  - a small, respectable place run by a very nice person - and arranged her books neatly on her desk before pulling out a map of the village that she'd found in a book. It wasn't quite up to date, but it had enough places marked that she'd have a starting point. Taking the quill pen that was stuck in her braid and carefully dipping it into an ink pot, she drew a circle around the places she might try looking. It wouldn't do any good to start until later, and she could get some work done in the meantime. Putting her map aside, she turned to the ancient book she'd been holding earlier and went back to work, flipping carefully through each yellowing page and taking careful notes, marking where it was hard to read, what the missing words might be, and what all of it might mean.

((Shall we fast-forward to when Rhian finds him, then, to make things go faster?))

Ayeth watched Rhian enter the small establishment.  An inn, no doubt where she was staying the night.  Well that was good, at least Ayeth would know where to find her if anything went wrong.  She quickly followed the girl into the inn and sat down at the bar.  She had time, she could wait.  Wait until Rhian returned back downstairs and then follow her once more.  She smirked and bent over the bar to the bartender.

"One ale."

The bartender gave her one obligingly and Ayeth handed him the money.  Looking him up and down she leant closer to him, so that she could smell his putrid breath.

"Do you want to buy some pelts?  Very cheap and very good."

The innkeeper stared at her like a being from another planet.  He looked suspiciously at her and shook his head.  Ayeth sniffed and tossed her head.

"Bah!  Idiot!  Don't know a good deal when you see one eh?" she hissed. "What kind of fools live in this town?" she muttered to herself as she began her ale.

((And, after me vanishing for like a week... I be back!!))

Rhian finished the section of the book she'd been working on as the sun set and her little candle began burning low, and decided that now would be a good time to start looking for Zantar Tairya. She pulled out her map, scribbing all she knew about him in the corner of the paper so she'd remember who she was looking for. Pushing her glasses further up her nose, Rhian grabbed her cloak and carefully put her book and notes away before hurrying out into the hallway, closing the door behind her, and rushign outside.

It was colder now at night, and Rhian's glove-less hands shivered a bit as she studied her map. The first marked place ((Someone else come up with a name for it, I'm too lazy ^_^)) was right around the corner, a good starting point. She pocketed her map and walked to bar, lowering her cloak's hood as she stepped inside. It wasn't a pleasant place, with smoke hanging heavily in the air and the few crowded tables illuminated only by a few flickering candles and a low-burnign fire place. Rhian started looking around, feeling very out of place and wondering if he'd even be here at all.

[OOC: Well, this friend of mine is still at lunch....so....I'll just....post....  Oh yeah, it doesn't matter if you've been gone some time.]

Ayeth slipped out of her seat when she sighted Rhian leaving the inn.  Finally, the girl was getting onto the job.  She followed Rhian just around the corner to the Eight Plates.  The bar wasn't at all bawdy.  What was the girl thinking?  Did she think that playing it safe would cause her, Ayeth, to give up the chase and just leave her alone.  The tables were crowded, she gave the girl that, but there were no bar fights occurring and the bar didn't seem as if it served anything stronger than whiskey.  Stepping quietly up behind the girl she clapped Rhian on the shoulder.  Rhian jumped and when the girl turned around and saw Ayeth, Ayeth dragged her to the corner.

"You're not trying hard enough, Rhian.  You dare to call this a bawdy bar?" she hissed dangerously.

[OOC: The name of that pub is weird.  Blame my friend, she suggested it.  Oh yes, if the part about Rhian jumping doesn't work with you, again, please tell me so I can change it.]

"Well I've never gone looking for a bawdy bar before! My search terms are basically just anyplace I would avoid under normal circumstances." Rhian said grumpilly, rather upset by her mission's immediate failure.

Ayeth looked thoroughly exasperated. "Not all places you usually avoid would be places where you could find a drunkard," she snapped. "For example, you would not go looking for a drunkard on a pirate ship even though you would usually avoid it.  And," she said, emphasising the word, "if you look for a bar, try not to choose one called the Eight Plates and think it is going to be a bawdy bar."

"Very well then, seeing as we shall get nowhere if I leave it up to you."  She scanned the map and pointed to a spot. "There, the Devil's Cave, that's the kind of name you are looking for."

[OOC: Also, very short because I am very very tired and I have to study for a test.  My friend has just moved house, so it might be some time before she'll come on the scene.  If she takes too long to unpack and get her internet running, I might get her to write the scene and I'll post for her.  *shrug*  We'll see.]

"It isn't as if I'm going to let you get killed that easily," Ayeth snapped right back. "Where am I supposed to find someone else like you who is willing to do this for me?" Giving Rhian a sharp look, she continued. "Anyway, I won't let you get killed."

"So where's this... Devil's Cave... place?" Rhian asked, resigned and wondering once again why she was doing this in the first place. Finding scary people was not her area of expertece. Ancient civilizations, astronomy, natural sciences... those she could do. Finding weird peope was way beyond her.

Ayeth smirked at Rhian's question.

"Ah you, wonderful scholar, cannot even read a simple map?" she mocked.

She then pointed to a spot on the map on the other side of town.

"There, and your supposedly 'expert' map-reading skills should be able to take you there."

Ayeth knew that Rhian had said nothing whatsoever about being able to read maps, but she couldn't suppress the urge to insult this girl who was so unlike herself.

Rhian would have loved to say something back, but she couldn't think of anything that Ayeth wouldn't find stupid, so she just nodded and snatched her map back, pulling a pen out of its spot stuck in her braid and drawing a circle around the place Ayeth pointed out.

((Short, sorry, I'm braindead.))

Ayeth watched Rhian circle the spot on the map but make no move to set off in that direction.

"Well?" she asked irritably. "Are you going to get going any time soon, or can I buy myself another drink?"

This Rhian girl was really starting to irritate her.  She was just like all the rest of the world - stupid, slow and naive.  She tapped her fingers on a nearby table as she waited for Rhian's answer.

Meanwhile on the other side of town, Othrem dropped his mug of half finished ale on the counter his head soon following. The bar tender looked through his one good eye and shook his head.

"Welthery!" he shouted.

A man came around the corner slowly. He had a slightly hunched back and was wearing tattered rags of a once fine tweed vest. Slowly he approached dodging broken glass and several fist fights and other such brawls which had broken out.

"Yes, Rewquin?"the rat faced Welthery asked in a voice that sent chills down your spine and automatically made you distrust him.

"Take 'im off the bar 'n' put him out wit' the pigs!'

As Welthery trudged over and heaved the man over his shoulder he saw a girl walk in. As he carried Othrem away he wondered what such a fine young lass was doing in a place like this ...

Rhian wondered vaugely if she got get away with running now and pretending the whole day just hadn't happened - this was the last place she wanted to be. Not an intelligent person to be seen, much less a sane one. How had Ayeth been so sure Rhian was even capable of this job? She hovered in the doorway, unsure of what to do or who to look for.

Ayeth smiled to herself.  Finally this Rhian girl was finally getting some sense into that sorry little brain of hers.  Finally she realised that she, Ayeth, wasn't merely talking when she warned her of what could happen if her instructions went unheeded.  Now Rhian stood hovering, most likely nervously wondering if she was still being followed.

"Well, no fear," she murmured to herself, "I'm here and ready to take my revenge."

She didn't bother slipping out from where she lurked in the alleyway, but instead made herself comfortable against the hard wall to wait for Rhian to make a move.

Othrem woke up and saw the sky was tinged with black. Dusk. He pulled himself into a sitting position and groaned with the effort. As he lurched to his feet a flash of movement in a back alley way caught his eye. A person stood against the wall restlessly. He tottered as quickly as one can totter and entered the bar. A beautiful young girl stood by the door looking as if she were about to leave.

“We’ll see about that. he muttered to himself as he made his way to her.

“Hello Love. Fancy a drink?

"Oh! Um..." Rhian jumped slightly, pushing her glasses further up her nose as they began fallng off. "No, thank you. Um... I'm looking for someone named Othrem, would you happen to know him?" She asked, oblivious to the fact that the drunk in front of her was the person she was looking for.

Othrem thought quickly, well as quickly as one who is blind drunk can think in any case, and answered " Why of course, Lassie. He works out back. A dear friend of mine."

His shrewd black eyes glinted, meanly, in the dim light. His drunken brain was tapping some sort of message. The world spun faster and faster. He would not fall. He clutched the wall frantically. The world became still once again. He waited for an answer from the girl.

Ayeth followed Rhian into the bar and smirked slightly as she saw the drunk confront her.  It was obvious that Rhian didn't notice her push past as she was focused solely on the man in front of her.  That man was drunk, very drunk and it became all too obvious when he spasmodically clutched the wall.  Something niggled at her subconscious, a feeling, a sort of recognition that was strange and unreal.  Focusing her mind onto the man, she struggled to gain control over her strange telepathic ability, willing it to work, struggling to bend it to her will.  She didn't know if the stretching out of thoughts had worked, for the man showed no outward reaction.  When he continued talking, she figured that she had failed.  Letting out a low hiss of disgust at her failure, she sat down at the bar and ordered an ale.  Sipping it slowly, she watched the proceedings.

Othrem shivered slightly. He was still waiting for the young lass to reply but as he stood there a strange feeling came over him. He was desperate for another drink but this was different. He stood stock still then slowly looked around. A large group stood in the centre of the bar, screaming and fighting. Two old men sat at the bar looking into there mugs, depressed. A female sat watching him, as their eyes locked he suddenly felt weak.

"What ye say lassie, to a mug of ale?,"he stammered",Make up yee mind."

The world starting spinning again but this time didn't stop. His knees buckled and he half fell. Phrases rushed through his head then all became silent.

Rhian blinked, looking startled. She'd expected him to act strange, but the whole almost-falling-over-regularly thing was surprising. "No, thank you. I'm only here to deliver a message to Mr. Othrem. Um.. are you alright?" She wondered if she was supposed to call for a docter or something - the drunk looked like he was about to fall over.

"Othrem... that name sound familiar. Why don't I take you over to the bar and you can ask Rewquin, the bartender. He hears things you see"

At this point Othrem really had no clue as to his name or anything else about himself but, surprisingly, he could remember everything else.

((Whaa! I"m sooo sorry I haven't replied!))

Rhian looked uncertain for a moment, then nodded and muttered "thank you" before side-stepping around random people, making her way to the bar. "Um... Mr. Rewquin?" she asked cautiously. looking at the bartender.

"Yes Lassie?" Rewquin asked looking at Rhian.

But before she could reply he saw Othrem standing next to her.
"Othrem, wat ye be doin'? I thought you were out back."

Rhian blinked, what the bartender had said registering quickly. "Wait... He's Mr. Othrem? He told me to ask you who Mr. Othrem was, though! Wha...?" Stupid confusion. Shaking her head as if to clear it away, she turned to Othrem. "I have a message for you, sir. Someone wants to meet you."

"Oh, really? I mean I was just joking hahaha..." Othrem replied.
"So what did you want me for anyway?" he continued hoping to change the subject.[/img]
"I'm here to deliver a message for you, sir," she repeated, sounding slightly annoyed. "There's a lady who wants to see you." She did her best to look the part of innocent, clueless messanger, but she chose her words carefully. "She seemed really excited to see you, I think it's important." Ayeth had said that Othrem would probably be at a place that offered "Pleasant company." Hopefully the idea of a girl waiting eagerly to seem him would be enough to convince him to come with little effort on Rhian's part.

" Why of course I'll come," Othrem replied his curiosity awakened.

"Where, when, who and well why?"

"I don't know! She just told me to come get you," Rhian replied, keeping her 'clueless messanger' act up and starting to walk towards the door, looking over her shoulder to see if he was following. "She said to come and get you to meet her outside as soon as possible!"

[OOC: I'm here!  I'm here!  Ah yes Laxy, I shall post!]

"She said to come and get you to meet her outside as soon as possible," the words were almost music in Ayeth's ears.  Finally, atonement was near, she could taste revenge on the tip of her tongue.  She saw Othrem - her father - seem to hesitate and before he could possibly have a chance to turn back she was behind him and had clapped a heavy hand on his shoulder.

"I would listen the girl, if I were you," she hissed into his ear. "It would be the most prudent thing to do at this precise moment.  I would hate to have to kill you off so quickly in front of all these people, father."

[OOC: Ah yes, wonderful wonderful, the final showdown is about to take place *drumroll* *cymbal crash*.  Great job everyone!  *huggles*]

"Now now young one" he replied in his most wheedling voice,"No need to go around making wild accusations."

"You stole my childhood, killed my mother and still you are here pretending not to know what I'm talking about." Her voice trembled with almost barely contained rage.  She pulled out her hunting knife and pressed its cold blade against his neck. "Feel this," she whispered, "this is a knife that will soon be embedded in your throat if you do not comply and walk outside, now."

[OOC: Yay peoples!  We rock!]

{OOC: Isz, now ur scaring me!!! **joking!! :wink: **}

Othrem said nothing but merely followed the girl outside. He was sweating visibly. His daughter was supposed to be dead. How had this happened? He didn't know but he intended to find out. With that thought in mind he tried to keep his breathing even and wondered what she planned to do ...

Rhian stared for a moment, then casually wandered away. On the off chance Ayeth was caught, she could pretend to be the innocent messanger with no idea what Ayeth had had planned.

Ayeth smirked to herself as she saw her father's obvious discomfort.  She kept the knife by the back of his neck but relaxed her grip somewhat - she knew he wasn't going try and run.  Upon reaching the outside, she dragged him into the alleyway.

"Now, we're going to play a little game," she hissed, "We're going to see if you can outrun my knife throw.  If you can, you can leave free naturally.  However, if you can't..." she left the sentence hanging.

Suddenly, something struck her and she looked around for Rhian.  Not there, who cared?  She, Ayeth, had what she wanted now, so why bother looking for the messenger?

She shoved her father roughly in front of her.  "Now, on the count of three, you are going to run as fast as you can and I am going to throw this knife after you," she said sadistically, grinning through her teeth.

"One"

"Two"

"Three."
