__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Beatrix Evans is a skinny, pug-faced girl with blue hair. She has a splash of freckles across her nose. The girl is going through an early growth spurt, and is a bit taller than the other students her age. Beatrix wears blue school robes, which match her hair quite nicely.

If you were to touch Beatrix, you'd find she feels slightly below room temperature- though if you were to take her temperature with a thermometer, it'd read as normal. Her irises are pitch black, and reflect no light. They seem almost alive at times, swirling and rippling on their own- as if something is living inside them. It's really unsettling...

Personality:
Beatrix is full of shit. Seriously, don't hang out with her- all she does is lie about stuff. She has an over-inflated sense of ego, and her smug grin and condescending laugh could annoy even the most patient professor. She also goes out of her way to tattle on people who break the rules, while simultaneously breaking the rules herself. Why are you spending time with her again?

Deep down, Beatrix has a lot of insecurities. She's never had an real adult present in her life, which has caused her to crave attention and validation from anybody marginally older than her. She hates being alone, and when she's by herself she tends to cry.

Much to the surprise of everybody,  Beatrix actually has decent grades. She puts genuine effort into her schoolwork, and it shows. Her best subject is black magic, and she likes to brag that she's the most powerful shadowmancer Wyrdwood has ever produced. Update: She's been moved up a grade in Black Magic! It was mostly through sweet-talking the Headmistress, but still.

Relationships:
Beatrix's parents were imprisoned for soul tampering and conspiracy against the crown when she was a year old. To this day she's had no contact with them.

Beatrix has an unusual friendship with Aahva Chatterjee. They only began hanging out because nobody else wanted to put up with them, and the two have become nearly inseparable as a result.
Best friends forever
[close]

Beatrix has a plush Yale she's named "Mr. Hooves". The toy is the only thing she has left from her parents- it was in her crib with her when the Order Of The Moon raided her childhood home.

Magic/Abilities:
Beatrix's ability goes beyond basic shadowmancy- her very soul has been infused with darkness. Shadows seem to gravitate towards her when she's nearby, as if they're reaching out to her. For all intents and purposes, the shadows are part of Beatrix. She's not sure if this power has limitations, and she honestly doesn't care. She mostly just uses it to make shields, tentacles and other basic constructs out of solid darkness.

Spoiler
Oh yeah, "solid darkness"? It's actually really weak. Getting swiped at by one of Beatrix's constructs feels like getting hit by a pillow. She really plays it up though- unless you experienced it first hand you'd likely think it was some kind of end-all-be-all magical substance.
[close]
By far the most useful trick Beatrix knows is the ability to move her consciousness through shadows. This allows the girl to see and hear things that she otherwise wouldn't be able to- she eavesdrops on the boy's washroom quite frequently, for example.

History:
Born to dark mages in Moonspear, the infant Beatrix was treated more like a test subject than an actual child. If her mom and dad truly did love her, then splitting her soul in half and leaving darkness in it's place was a funny way of showing it. Her parents were arrested before they could mold their daughter into... whatever they wanted her to be, and Beatrix was placed into an orphanage.

It wasn't much better. The orphanage mistress was more interested in securing proper funding than she was in taking care of the children, and Beatrix was raised collectively by an ever-changing collection of older kids. It seemed like whenever the girl started to make a real connection with one of them, they'd get adopted and would have to leave. Beatrix desperately wanted to be adopted too, but found her strange magic would often scare people away. She began to act out for attention, hoping somebody would notice her...

Years passed without any luck. Beatrix had tried everything- showing off her magic, hiding her magic, making outrageous claims about her heritage, claiming to be the most well behaved child at the orphanage, etc. The girl had told so many stories about herself, in fact, that she could no longer remember who she really was. Her identity had never had a chance to truly develop- for all intents and purposes, Beatrix was her lies.

Finally, somebody noticed her- a talent scout from Wyrdwood. Beatrix was taken to school, but her now-compulsive lying has ironically prevented her from making the connections she so desperately craves. Only time will tell if she'll be able to overcome the hurdles her childhood has left her...

Plotting Center / Crystal Quest!
March 10, 2018, 02:46:06 PM
(I was going to make an open thread, but I have like five of them already and nobody ever asks to join anyway)

So! I have this character, Tsijiari. He's the chosen one (he thinks), and he's on a quest to find 16 plot devices. I really want to write him, but he needs a more focused plot than normal. He's in the Kishahn Jungle right now, but I could probably find a reason to have him in Essyrn if that's easier.

I was thinking maybe a dungeon crawl to get one of the crystals he needs could be fun? Or maybe he meets somebody who has one of them already and he needs to get it from them? If anybody was interested in this, or had more ideas for the character, shoot me a PM!

Residence: An inn near Wyrdwood Academy
Favorite Food: Coffee with milk and sugar
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Character Theme:
The Blonde Lead the Blind

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Dorothy Summers is a bombshell, and she knows it. Her wavy brown hair reaches her mid back. Her eyes are a deep blue, and she has a button nose. She wears a rather revealing dress, and is never without her fancy top hat. She actually designed her costume to highlight her assets- they're great at providing misdirection while she does her magic tricks.

Dorothy's wand isn't actually a wand at all- it's just a wooden dowel she's painted to look like a wand.

Personality:
Bombastic and larger than life, Dorothy is a showman at heart. She's very passionate about her magic tricks, and likes to brag about how she can "do magic without magic". She's almost condescending about this, actually- as if the students and teachers are somehow wrong for not doing magic her way. Nobody knows if she truly believes this though, as it could very well be part of her stage persona. She does seem to think magic is too heavily relied upon, however, as she'll often encourage students to learn practical skills in addition to spells and potions.

A surprisingly logical person, Dorothy enjoys solving puzzles. She likes figuring out how things work, and is good at taking stuff apart and putting it back together.

Relationships:
Dorothy has made connections with a few students (most noticeably Arthur Clearwater), but the majority of professors dislike her for various reasons. She tends to avoid them because of this.

Magic/Abilities:
Dorothy has no magic! She's entirely mundane. She is, however, a master of sleight of hand, distraction, and deception. Whether it's simple card tricks or fake levitation, expect Dorothy to pull it off flawlessly. She's also very good at juggling and acrobatics, and often incorporates those skills into her performances.

Dorothy has very deep pockets...

History:
Born in the slums of Selevea, Dorothy grew up not knowing who her parents were. Sleight of hand was something she learned through pick pocketing, and she eventually began to preform tricks with it in exchange for money. She eventually mastered the craft, and managed to make enough money for her to move out of Selevea.

Deciding she wanted to pass on her knowledge, Dorothy purchased a fellowship at Wyrdwood Academy and volunteered to teach a class for free. She doesn't have many students, but that doesn't bother her too much. As long as somebody is enjoying her lessons, she'll be happy.

Wester Highlands / Help With Homework (Emerald!)
March 07, 2018, 06:13:32 AM
Built into the castle's southern tower, Wyrdwood Academy's library was nearly as well known as the school itself. Boasting nearly a million titles, it was quite possibly the largest collection of spellbooks in Le'raana. The bookshelves were nearly as tall as the tower itself, and students needed to use broomsticks to reach the tomes at the top. Orbs of light floated about aimlessly, providing a the room with a soft glow. At the center of the library was a collection of reading chairs and desks, each one seemingly more comfortable then the next. Many a Fellow had donated to the school for access to this room alone, and as such the library was always fairly busy.

Arthur Clearwater sat at one of the desks, staring at the blank piece of paper in front of him. The boy had calculated exactly how much schoolwork he'd need to do in order to pass with the lowest grades possible, but he had always put off doing the work until the last minute. This particular paper was, unfortunately, mandatory- if he didn't hand it in by tomorrow, he'd flunk out of Magical History.

"This is lame..." Arthur thought, adjusting the pillow on his head. "Why do we even need to write papers? Can't we just do, like, multiple choice?" The boy yawned, eyes beginning to droop. "Writing is such a chore..."

Suddenly, inspiration hit him like a sack of bricks. Lifting his quill, he slowly dipped it into his inkwell. He held it there for a few seconds before pulling it out and bringing it to the parchment. With very rigid strokes, Arthur began to slowly drag his pen across the paper...

Ten minutes later, Arthur looked down at his hard work.

QuoteThe

Arthur smiled. "Yeah..." he mumbled sleepily. "That's a good word to start with..." Yawning, Arthur rested he head on his desk and closed his eyes. After all that work, he needed a rest.

The sound of the boy's snoring soon echoed throughout the entire library...

Northern Serendipity / Settling In (Pickles!)
March 05, 2018, 05:36:27 AM
The excited shrieks of newly accepted first-years signaled that summer was coming to an end. This was perfectly fine with Lulu Von Grimmelshausen- the girl hated having nothing to do.

The Connlaothian girl sat on the top bunk, reading a book titled "Domination And Dominion: How To Bend Another's Will To Your Own". She had already read this particular text in her first year at Wyrdwood, but that was three years ago. Surely there were things in the tome she'd forgotten since then, right?

Lulu's clean, unfolded clothes lay on the bottom bunk. Her shepherds crook lay haphazardly on top of them, along with a plethora of library books. Since she was without a roommate for the summer, she'd taken to using the second mattress as a place to keep her stuff. The girl doubted she'd have a new one this year- her last two roommates had both switched rooms after a semester, and "Lulu is impossible to live with" had become a sort of running joke among the other girls her year.

A sudden creak caused Lulu to flinch. She spun her head around to see her door being opened by somebody unseen. "Who's there?" she called, mildly annoyed that her reading was being interrupted. "The birds frown on those who don't wear sandals."

Physical Description:
Alright, so we can't talk about what Arthur Clearwater looks like without talking about his hat. That thing on his head? That's a pillow. Arthur likes taking naps, so he turned his pillow into a hat so he could lie down comfortably wherever he wants. It's rather heavy, and it's held in place by a large buckle.

The rest of Arthur is swaddled in up to ten layers of clothing at any given time. This gives him the appearance of being somewhat overweight, but he's actually built like a twig- he just likes to keep warm, that's all. His skin is deathly pale, and his hair is jet black. His golden eyes always have dark bags underneath them- which is odd, because Arthur sleeps like, sixteen hours a day. He scuffs his feet when he walks, because he's too lazy to actually lift up his feet all the way. Arthur's voice is very quiet, as if the act of speaking at a regular volume would take too much work.

Arthur's spirit stone is morganite! He wears a cushion cut piece surrounded by pave diamonds in a rose gold necklace.

Personality:
Arthur is the living embodiment of wasted potential. He's an incredibly bright and remarkably talented young man, but he utterly refuses to apply himself. Arthur would much rather take a nap or play with his trading cards than study. So far his teachers efforts to reach him have gone wasted, and he only does enough schoolwork to pass his classes with the lowest possible grades. His family is growing a bit worried by all of this- Arthur has a legacy to live up to.

In truth, all Arthur wants to do when he grows up is write children's books. He has a bazillion characters and stories in his head, and on the rare occasions he's actually awake he's usually daydreaming. He's never bothered writing any of his story ideas down, mind you- putting a pencil to paper requires some modicum of effort, so he doesn't even bother.

Arthur is an avid player of Monster Mash!- a collectible trading card game. He's very good at it, and the sheer amount of strategies he's come up with are one of the only ways people can tell he's actually smart.

Relationships:
Arthur's father Benedictus is the High Justicier of Altas Verde. The boy loves his father, but feels he pushes him to hard.

Arthur's mother was murdered when he was three years old, and to this day the boy only has two memories of her- one of her reading a bedtime story, and one of her making saltwater taffy.

Arthur's older brother Percival is a fifth year at Wyrdwood. Percy loves his brother dearly, but gets exasperated with him easily. (PM me if you would like to play this character!)

Arthur is betrothed to Beryl Feyal, the High Lady of Altas Verde. He's currently unaware of this, because he's too lazy to actually check his school mailbox and open the letter he got from his dad explaining it.

Arthur has a massive crush on his teacher Professor Summers, It's obvious to everybody but her.

Magic/Abilities:
Arthur is technically a soulshaper, but his ability works much differently than usual. Whereas most soulshapers steal souls and use them to power magic, Arthur can do the opposite- he leeches off magic in the air around him and uses it to power souls. By doing so, he can bestow magical abilities to non-magical people.

Essentially, Arthur can create mages. The type of power he gives somebody is entirely customizable- as long as he's absorbed enough magic, he's really only limited by his imagination. He's very much an anomaly among soulshapers (and mages in general), and Arthur's absurd amount of potential left his teachers stunned when they first found out about him.

Too bad he's a lazy, apathetic slacker! Arthur really doesn't care about his power at all, which infuriates his teachers to no end.

History:
Capital punishment is a thing in Altas Verde. Criminals who have proven themselves irredeemably evil have their souls removed and used to power enchantments and stuff- it's seen as a way of "recycling" the bad people so they actually contribute something to society. The Clearwater family have served as the high justiciers for at least a century, and they're very close to being royalty themselves. The family has a history of producing powerful soulshapers, and every child with a shred of magical talent is sent to Wyrdwood to hone their skills and take up the family business.

Arthur is no exception to the rule- as soon as his powers began to manifest, his father signed him up for school without even asking if that's what Arthur wanted (it wasn't). The boy's response to the pressure being put on him by his family and teachers was the same as his response to just about everything else...

Yawning, laying down, and mumbling "Do I have to?"

The Ecstasy Of Gold

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Chubby but not quite "overweight", Danny Fluentez is not an imposing figure. His face is round and almost baby-like. His wavy brown hair compliments his equally brown eyes. He generally wears a green traveling cloak and a padded shirt.

Danny rides a black mare named Squaredancer.

Personality:
Danny has... issues. He's amiable enough, but his home life is abysmal and has made him desperate for the approval of others. He has a massive chip on his shoulder, and vents his frustrations by pushing himself way, way too hard. Telling him to slow down is a good way to get him to yell at you.

Danny has a crippling fear of dragons. This is almost unheard of in Adela's dragon-obsessed culture, and when people find out they tend to treat it like a joke.

Relationships:
Danny is the middle child and black sheep of his family, as he is the only one of his siblings to have ever failed to bond with a dragon. His four siblings (Diega, Desiderio, Doroteia, and Damario) all treat him like a joke, and his parents prefer to act like he doesn't exist at all.

Matchitisiw is Danny's traveling companion. Danny only tolerates his illegal behavior because Matchitisiw is the only one who can teach him Nawat.

Squaredancer is Danny's only real friend, as they've depended on each other even before the boy left his home.

Magic/Abilities:
Danny is clairvoyant! If he touches a person or object and focuses very hard, he can see things related to them/it! He can only do this for about five seconds a day- any more and he gets a killer migraine.

While he's not the greatest rider ever, Danny is decent on a horse.

History:
Danny's family had high expectations of him. His two older siblings had both managed to get into the newly formed Dragonriders, and Danny was expected to do the same. At the age of thirteen, after months of mentally preparing, he climbed the Thunderblacks in order to bond with a dragon...

Long story short. he failed and the dragon he approached tried to kill him. He managed to escape, but the experience would traumatize him for he rest of his life. His newfound fear of dragons alienated his parents, and caused his siblings to mock him mercilessly- especially when his two younger siblings bonded with their dragons with no issue. By the time he was eighteen, his family had more or less begun to ignore him.

As the years passed, Danny tried to win back his parents attention. Nothing seemed to work- not even the discovery of Danny's powers! To make matters worse, rumors were beginning to spread about him. People seemed to point at Danny wherever he went, and the hushed whispers of the Fluentez's failure of a son made it incredibly difficult for the boy to find any work.

Finally, he'd had enough. Taking the family horse in the dead of night, Danny left home in search of... something. Truth be told, he didn't know what he wanted, just that he needed it to impress his parents and make them love him again.

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Tall and imposing, it's hard for Matchitisiw not to leave an impression. His olive skin is covered in scars, and his unkempt black hair runs down his back. He's almost always shirtless, revealing a well built frame. He wears a feather in his hair, but will change the subject if asked why.

Matchitisiw has a shred of an old treasure map. He won't tell you where he got it or what it leads to, but he's apparently been holding onto it for years.

Matchitisiw's current horse is a brown and white stallion he's named "Seven".

Personality:
Matchitisiw is jaded, cynical, and closed off. He's a bad person, and he'll be the first person to tell you that. He's obsessed with money and wealth, and has committed more than his fair share of burglaries and theft in order to obtain it. Once he actually has it, it's usually gone within a week or so- alcohol and prostitutes aren't cheap. However, despite his dubious morals, he will not take a life. Machitisiw will ignore you if you ask why this is.

Matchitisiw sense of humor is more than a little strange. His jokes are always either really bad, or don't make sense to anyone but him. He also has a habit of making up songs about whatever he happens to be doing at any given moment. They're never very good...

Relationships:
Danny Fluentez is Matchitisiw's traveling companion. He's easily exasperated by Danny's naivety, and would likely abandon him if not for the boy's clairvoyance.

Unlike most Duhjari, Matchitisiw doesn't value horses all too much. Life as a highwayman has taught him that horses come and go, and getting attached to one only leads to despair when you eventually lose it. He treats Seven with apathy, if not outright distrust.

Magic/Abilities:
Matchitisiw is one of the last surviving practitioners of Nawat, an old Duhjari throwing technique. By twisting his wrist in a very precise manner and focusing his willpower, Matchitisiw can cause any object he throws to return to him like a boomerang. This technique is incredibly complex and difficult to learn, and takes a great number of years to master completely.

Matchitisiw carries a pouch of throwing stones, along with a rope and a hatchet. He's also a very skilled horseman, seemingly having a natural affinity for the animal.

History:
Matchitisiw sometimes alludes to having a past, but will change the subject if you press him for details.

Matchitisiw met Danny after knocking him off his horse with Nawat and robbing him. Instead of cursing him like most rich kids do, the boy asked to be trained for some stupid reason. Matchitisiw ignored hm, but the boy was being an annoying little shit and kept following him around. Danny eventually babbled something about being some kind of psychic, and Matchitisiw realized that maybe he could use the boy to his own advantage. He handed the boy his scrap of treasure map, asking where to find the rest of it.

To Matchitisiw's surprise, the pompous little fuck was actually able to give him a concrete answer- the map was torn into fifteen pieces and scattered across the country. He agreed to train Danny to use the Nawat in exchange for his help locating the individual pieces, and the two have been traveling together ever since.

Titanium

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Lulu Von Grimmelshausen is a tiny person, but she feels big. Her blonde hair is pulled into loose pigtails. Her pale blue eyes emit a dull glow at all times. She wears the typical blue robes all students at Wyrdwood do. She's opted out of wearing a wizard hat, choosing to wear a flower crown instead. Lulu has been told this is against the rules, but she doesn't seem to care.

Lulu's wizard staff is actually a shepherding crook! An orb of blue light hovers inside the curved bit when she holds it.

Personality:
Lulu is fucking weird. Seriously, there's something not right about her. Whether she's speaking in riddles, spouting non-sequiturs, or putting weird stuff in her mouth, there is not a moment that goes by where she behaves normally. Older students don't like talking to her, and younger students are too afraid of her to try.

There is a real person underneath the bizarre quirks, for those actually interested in talking to her. She's very driven, often pulling all-nighters in order to complete assignments on time. Her grades are very high, nearing the top of her class in every subject. She's adverse to helping her classmates, believing that people need to learn to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps.

Lulu's force of will is stronger than titanium. If you try to get in her way, you will get run the fuck over.

Relationships:
Lulu's parents are still in Connlaoth, but she hopes to fix that someday.

Magic/Abilities:
Lulu has mind control powers! She can control people against their will if two conditions are met:

  • The target is looking her in the eyes/at the light in her staff
  • The target says a placeholder word (um, uh, er)
Lulu can end her control of the target by snapping her fingers. She's currently trying to figure out how to control people just by making eye contact, but so far she hasn't had any luck. She has figured out how to control multiple people at once- her current limit is two.

History:
Born to shepherds in Connlaoth, Lulu and her family were outed as mages and sent to a camp when she was only eleven years old. The young mage was able to use her powers to escape, but was forced to leave her parents behind. "I'll come back for you" were the last words she said to them before they were separated.

Making her way to Serendipity, Lulu got into Wyrdwood by mind controlling an admittance officer through a lot of hard work, and is currently in her fourth year at the academy. She plans on mastering her abilities, no matter the cost- then she's going back to Connlaoth to save her parents.

The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Maggie Fen-Breath is... well, she's a hag. Her long, wiry body is crooked and hunched over. Her yellow eyes are sunken deep into her face. Her long, spindly arms end in hands the size of frying pans. Her hooked nose is crooked, and sticks out about an inch from her face. She's not as wrinkly as you'd expect from a hag- she's still young.

On the subject of Maggie being young, it's worth mentioning that the hag's voice is surprisingly normal- she sounds like an average 32 year old woman.

Maggie carries a staff made from the root of an ash tree. She doesn't need it to walk, but she acts like she does.

Personality:
Maggie is so excited to be teaching! She has so much knowledge to pass on, and what better place to do so then Wyrdwood! She's incredibly thankful to the Magistarium for giving her this amazing opportunity, and she's vowed not to let it go to waste.

Maggie tries her hardest to be a fun professor. Hands on activities and demonstrations are a staple of classes with her. She does have a habit of hexing students who get failing grades on assignments, though most are harmless and only last for a day or two.

Whoever is perpetuating this rumor that Maggie eats children needs to stop. Maggie is a proud vegetarian- she hasn't eaten a human child since she was twelve. Also, stop calling her old. Maggie is not old.

Relationships:
Maggie is the black sheep of the Fen-Breath family. Her mother and seven sisters all refuse to talk to her.

Maggie currently isn't in any romantic relationships- but she's looking! She's rather unhappy about being single, and she switches up her look rather frequently to try and get men to notice her.

Magic/Abilities:
Despite her appearance, Maggie is a physical powerhouse, capable of snapping bones like twigs. She tends to forget this, and accidentally breaks things sometimes.

Maggie doesn't like scaring people, so the black magic she shows off is mostly harmless. Simple hexes and curses, turning people into toads for a day, that kind of thing. As for the darker stuff...

Well, let's just say there's a reason she's the Magister Of Black Magic.

History:
Would you believe that Maggie is the youngest magister at Wyrdwood? It's true! She was only just got the position earlier in the year, so this will be her first semester teaching at the school.

No, you are not allowed to know Maggie's past. Only members of the Magistarium know, and they aren't saying anything...

Physical Description:
Alabaster Zinc has stopped caring about his looks, and it shows. His black hair has grown into a long tangled mess. There is no light behind his blue-grey eyes. He has scraggly patches of facial hair here and there- he seems to hate shaving. His robes are wrinkled, and he always smells kinda funny.

Zinc carries a wand made of birch wood.

Personality:
Dry and unenthusiastic, Professor Zinc hates his job. He knows full well that the magic he teaches has no marketable application, and isn't shy about telling people this. Not that anybody was interested in his field to begin with- people go into enchantment to put spells on things, not take them off.

It's not uncommon for Professor Zinc to arrive late to his own class- some days he won't show up at all! He rarely has any students though, so he's managed to get away with this for the time being. He spends most of his "class" taking naps under his desk.

Relationships:
None yet.

Magic/Abilities:
Professor Zinc is a master at disenchanting objects- quite possibly the best in his field. He's trained himself to be able to "see" enchantments and curses- if somebody is carrying a magical sword, for instance, he'll know what it does just by glancing at it.

History:
Professor Zinc was suckered into this job.

Having dreamed of being a cursebreaker since he was a little kid, Zinc worked exceptionally hard to get accepted into Wyrdwood. Tuition was absurdly high and he ended up going into debt to attend, but he figured he'd find a way to pay it all off later. The other students laughed at him for choosing to focus in disenchanting, but he'd show them. When he became a legendary cursebreaker, he'd be laughing at them.

Or not.

After graduating from Wyrdwood, Zinc found there was no work available. Removing curses from objects simply wasn't something people were willing to pay for- not when priests did the job for free. The man floundered about for ten years, taking odd jobs in order to pay off his debt. "My education wasn't a waste of time." he told himself. "Something will come along. I just need to be patient"

Finally, something did come along- the position as "Professor of Disenchantment" at Wyrdwood. Realizing he'd gotten stuck in a cycle, Zinc vowed to put people off of going into his field so he would be the last to hold his position.

Sign up for disenchantment class, kids! It's not a waste of time at all!

Physical Description:
Susie Rainfeather is a short girl with stormy grey eyes. She wears the traditional Wyrdwood Academy uniform- a pale blue robe with a pointy wizard hat. Her orange hair clashes horribly with her outfit, and the other students make fun of her for this.

Susie doesn't have a spirit stone! She wears an empty copper bezel pendant that her parents bought for her- that way if she finds her stone, she'll have a place to put it.

Having grown up in rural Altas Verde, Susie has a noticably strong Verdan accent. It gets thicker when she's upset or excited, to the point where she can be genuinely incompresensible to anybody from outside the province.

Personality:
Neurotic and easily stressed, Susie isn't having an easy time at school. Wyrdwood's heavy workload and competitive culture have left the girl a nervous wreck. She overthinks everything, and and always imagines herself falling into the worst possible scenarios. What if she can't complete the next assignment on time? What if her paper isn't good enough? What if she accidentally trips and breaks her wand?

A major part of Susie's anxiety comes from her lack of a spirit stone- none of the testing stones at the local church of Myyla matched! This has left her feeling cut off from her faith, and she's terrified that her goddess must hate her.

Underneath the ball of nerves, Susie is a girl who really, really wants to succeed. She doesn't believe she's good enough for Wyrdwood, and is painfully aware that other students don't think she is either. Maybe, just maybe, she'll be able to prove them wrong.

Susie enjoys playing hacky-sack in her spare time. Currently her record for keeping the ball in the air is four minutes.

Update: Months of harsh bullying, as well as the mysterious death of her pet dog, have caused Susie to experience intrusive, suicidal thoughts. They show no signs of stopping, and the girl has become a bigger emotional wreck than ever before...
Update #2: She's feeling much better now :D

Relationships:
Susie's parents are alive and well, and are very proud of their "special little mage" for getting into Wyrdwood. Susie tries her best not to disappoint them.

Juniper Whitechalk is paying for Susie's tuition. While grateful for the opportunity she's been given, Susie is unsure of what the noblewoman sees in her.
Spoiler
[close]
Susie has a pet Orratilla named Crackers- a gift from Juniper. His fur is golden, and he's probably worth a small fortune.

Magic/Abilities:
Susie has dust magic! With a flick of her wand, she can create dust bunnies and cobwebs like nobody's business! She tells people that it's a weak form of terramancy in order to sound less lame.

After months of hardship and trials, it would seem Susie has discovered the true nature of her magic. The girl wields a form of genesis, the ability to conjure matter from nothing. There's no catalysts or equivilant exchange involved- think of it as being able to play life in creative mode. As of right now, however, she only knows how to make three materials:

Susie is very good at writing, and her reading level is a few grades higher than most kids her age.

History:
Born to jade miners in the Lilura Nera, Susie Rainfeather grew up in relative poverty. Her parents barely made enough to provide for her- while she never went hungry, money was always tight and the girl had to do odd jobs around town to help pay the bills. In spite her parent's affection, Susie couldn't shake the feeling she was a burden to the family and sometimes wondered if it'd be better for them if she'd never been born.

It was after her tenth birthday that life began to throw Susie curveballs. During her Reflection, the local priests were unable to find her spirit stone- an occurance considered to be a bad omen by many. While her parents refused to treat her any differently than before, most of the girl's friends would begin to shun her. Bullying became frequent, and neighbors would often gossip about the Rainfeather's "cursed" daughter. Susie herself felt as if she'd been cut off from her faith, and would find herself increasingly isolated as the years went on...

...And it would be under these circumstances that Juniper Whitechalk would find her. Enticed by the idea of unlocking her hidden potential- and enamoured by the promise that she was important- caused the child to fall under the noblewoman's spell. Now attending the prestigious Wyrdwood Academy, Susie tries her hardest to live up to her patron's expectations...

When It Rains It Poors

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
To say that Tiffany Starbrite "stands out" is an understatement. With his pastel pink hair, slender figure, and porcelain skin, the boy looks like he belongs in a picture book rather than in Zantaric. His fae heritage is much more pronounced than most Serenians. He's very androgynous, with many people believing him to be a girl at first- though to be fair, the name doesn't help. His skin sparkles a bit in the sunlight. Tiffany wears very loose fitting clothes, and is never seen without his pearl necklace- it used to belong his mom, and wearing it makes him feel safe.

Tiffany is always perfectly clean. Seriously, there is not a speck of dirt on that guy.

Personality:
Warmhearted and affectionate, Tiffany is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. He's incredibly generous, and will go far, far out of his way to help his friends. It's very easy to take advantage of him because of this, but Tiffany doesn't seem to mind too much. As long as other people are happy it doesn't matter how he feels... right?

Tiffany enjoys braiding hair and painting nails, and always has fashion advice for anybody who needs it. He's a very touchy person, and will often hug people out of the blue. Tiffany has a habit of singing his words instead of speaking them.

On paper, Tiffany's role in The Friends is to tidy up the streets of Zantaric. Bloodstains, chipped paint, dead bodies laying in gutters, it all needs to be taken care of so Hildegarde's territory will look nicer than the rest of the city. He takes this job very seriously, and gets upset if people imply it's not important work.

Relationships:
Tiffany is a member of The Friends, and gets along well with almost all of them. He's closest to Hildegarde and Kauzlauric, and spends a lot of his spare time with them. He has a close working relationship with Adelaide, but doesn't talk to her much outside of that. He's one of the only people who Porcelina gets along with, and he tries to hang out with her despite not liking her very much.

Tiffany seems to have some kind of long standing feud with Joan O'Riley. Nobody actually knows what happened between them, as neither are willing to talk about it.

Magic/Abilities:
Tiffany can magically wipe things clean with his hands. This power is incredibly versatile, working on everything from dirt stains to oily skin. He can also erase writing with it- letters on paper are really just ink stains at the end of the day.

Tiffany cannot fight- he's too squishy. Seriously, he could be knocked over by a light breeze.

History:
Raised by a doting mother, Tiffany grew up believing in treating others the way you wanted to be treated. He was kind to everybody he met, and was always willing to lend a hand to people in need.

Unfortunately, he grew up in Zantaric. Tiffany's mother was murdered when he was sixteen years old, and he was forced into life in the streets. The boy learned the hard way that in a city like this, treating people the way you wanted to be treated got you taken advantage of- or in some cases, abused.

Tiffany was crying when Hildegarde found him. He had met a woman earlier in the day who was very sick, and had given her his mother's necklace so she could buy medicine. Giving away the necklace felt like cutting off his own arm- and to make matters worse, Tiffany later found out that the woman was lying about being sick in order to mooch off of him.

"Well, that's no good." Hildegarde said, placing her hand on the boy's shoulder. "Lets go get it back."

Tiffany joined The Friends after getting back his necklace. Hildegarde had shown him that having a support network would keep him safe from the more dangerous elements of the city, and the boy had been completely captivated by her. He was only just recently promoted to being a part of the disposal team, and the boy has taken to it like a fish to water.

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
With her wiry build and middling height, Joan O'Reilly isn't an incredibly imposing figure at first glance. Her eyes are seaweed green, and she has a long scar going down her chin. She doesn't smile often, and when she does it makes her look more psychotic than happy. Joan keeps her shoulder-length brown hair covered by her hood at all times.

Teenage Wasteland takes the form of a muscular hooded being with a skull mask. It's cloak is tattered and worn. It's knuckles are steel, and it's fists are the size of basketballs.

Personality:
Joan is a... loose cannon, let's put it that way. She's violent, abrasive, obsessed with strength, and has a nasty habit of taking things too far. She's very mean, and enjoys putting others down for her own amusement. Many people fear her, as Joan has more than enough strength to back up her behavior.

Of course, the girl isn't without her own insecurities. She's terrified of losing to the point where she cheats compulsively. She also fears anybody with strange, unorthodox magic- she gets very nervous around Ignatius Pratt, for example. She's also not without a soft side- she enjoys fixing things, and people who know her will sometimes find Joan repairing things like creaky steps and broken chairs without being asked.

Joan has a habit of finishing people's sentences for them.

Relationships:
Joan is a member of The Friends, though most of them have mixed feelings about her. Of all of them, Griselda seems to like her the most.

Joan seems to have some kind of long standing feud with Tiffany Starbrite. Nobody actually knows what happened between them, as neither are willing to talk about it.

Magic/Abilities:
Joan's has the ability to summon "Teenage Wasteland"- a ghostly personification of her own soul- to do battle for her. Teenage Wasteland is incredibly strong and fast, capable of delivering stone-shattering punches at blinding speeds. However, it's movement is limited to a ten foot radius around Joan, and any damage done to it is reflected back onto her.

Don't bother asking where Teenage Wasteland came from- Joan won't tell you.

Joan herself is incredibly athletic, and is good at parkour.

History:
Growing up in Zantaric... does things to people. At best, you'll become cynical and jaded. At worst, you'll become an irredeemable monster. Either way, you're liable to die on the streets like a dog. Unless, of course, you make Friends.

The city had turned Joan into a menace. She took whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted it. She picked fights with anybody she thought was strong enough to challenge her. She harassed and threatened innocent civilians, and anybody who tried to stop her ended up brutally murdered. It was her right to do so, she figured- the strong ruled over the weak, that's just the way things work. Besides. it's not like anybody had ever done anything for her. Why should she show restraint?

It was the smile that did it.

Joan had finally ran into something she couldn't punch through- Friends working together. Hildegarde Von Musel and Griselda had heard of Joan, and decided to take her down in order to bolster their reputation. After a fierce battle (in which Hildegarde took a punch in the face in order to buy Griselda time), Joan was defeated. Her body had given out, and it was getting hard to breath. Looking up at the women who had beaten her, she asked for a quick death.

Hildegarde shook her head. "Nah!" she said cheerily. "That's not really me." The woman extended her hand to help Joan up, a genuine smile spreading across her bloodied face. "D'you wanna roll with us? Having friends makes living here easier."

It was something Joan had never really experienced before- kindness. Head spinning, Joan agreed to join the Friends. It's been two years since that day, and Joan's life has completely turned around.

Now she just needs to figure out the whole "being nice to people" thing.

It had been twelve years since he had first moved to Uthlyn, and yet Ludwig Von Musel still discovered books in the library he hadn't read before. The tome he was mulling over presently was an autobiography of an obscure Sergeant Major from over one hundred years ago. The book was chock full of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes- Sergeant Major Kalaritt didn't seem particularly well educated- but something in the book had caught Ludwig's eye.

In almost every history book that discussed him, the famous General Vincent Waxwing was said to have come up with two strategies for every battle and then flip a coin "to let Ansgar choose for me". This first hand account from the Sergeant Major told a much different story.

Quote from: Sergeant Major Kalaritt"After we laid out our first strategy, I looked at General Waxwing expectantly. When he asked why I was staring at him, I asked what the second plan would be, and offered him a coin from my pocket. He laughed, and confessed that he had made up the story of the coin flip as a laugh, and never expected anybody to believe it in the first place."

"Now, this is interesting." Ludwig muttered under his breath. "It was all a show? I must look into this further." Immediately Ludwig began to take notes in his journal.

"ACHOO!"

Ludwig flinched. The sneeze had come from the next isle over- Ludwig could see them from between the gaps in the books. "Some people have no manners." the man thought, closing his journal. "Well, I'll show you."

Peering into next isle, Ludwig get his teeth. "Hey!" hey hissed. "Keep it down! Believe it or not, some people are trying to read!"

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Uttara Vaishnavi might be considered pretty were she not obviously dead. Her caramel skin is cold to the touch, and her grey hair is an unkempt mess. Her full lips are always held slightly ajar, and her eyelids droop over her yellow eyes. Uttara'a most noticeable feature is the scar running around her neck- she appears to have hung herself.

Uttara's lifeless body is no longer her own to control- it is now the host to a colony of parasitic insects. Her movements are jerky and robotic, and she walks with a slow, lurching gait. Ants can often be seen crawling out of her mouth, nose and ears, and there are always a few that get lost in her bushy hair.

The colony hasn't quite figured out vocal cords yet. When they do speak through Uttara's body, they often have trouble with volume and tone of voice. Facial expressions are tricky too- they don't quite understand the purpose of them, so any that they make are usually exaggerated to the point where it becomes creepy.

Personality:
Uttara is long dead. Whoever she was when she was alive isn't there anymore.

The colony, on the other hand, is brimming with personality! A whole bunch of personalities, actually- they tend to mimic how they see humans behave, and have collected the different personalities they've encountered and mashed them into a single, super-personality! Long story short, they're kinda clueless and really obnoxious.

Relationships:
None. Even the untouchables stay away from Uttara.

Magic/Abilities:
Uttara is no stronger than an average person her size is, and has no magic to speak of.

The colony has a weak psychic link to Uttara's body, but apart from that and their parasitic abilities they're basically just normal ants.

History:
There are many animals still undiscovered by humans. Some live in locations too remote for us to ever find. Some are extremophiles that live in places we can't. And some have... other means of staying hidden.

Living deep in the dense jungles of Thanatos, the parasitic ant makes it's colonies inside the corpses of other animals. Once firmly rooted in what's left of the nervous system, the colony is able to control the body like it were a puppet. The ant queens have minor psychic abilities- just enough to tap into the physical memories of the host, allowing for easier coordination. The drones produce an odd waxy substance on their antennae that act as an embalming fluid, preventing the host body from decaying too quickly. The main evolutionary purpose for this is surprisingly mundane- an ant's natural predators have a harder time catching a moving animal then they do a stationary ant hill.

Uttara is what happens when a colony of these ants finds a dead human. Everything was going smoothly- the nerves were under control, the body had been cleared of all other intruding insects (maggots are the parasite ant's mortal enemy), all that was left was for the queen to make the psychic connection...

And with a sudden snap, the hivemind of insects got more than they bargained for. Absorbing flashes of memories and an intelligence not their own, the colony was left with many questions. What was this hairless animal? They'd never taken one over before, this was all so new! The things they could do with this body, this strength, this intellect! They had to find more, find out what they could do. A single word had been repeated throughout this host's memories- Uttara. An individual getting a unique name seemed alien, but they supposed it wouldn't hurt to camouflage themselves with one. Freeing Uttara from the tree branch she was hanging off of, the colony felt something no member of it's species had felt before- ambition.

Now, if only the other humans would stop avoiding Uttara, then maybe they could get the answers they sought.

Physical Description:
Lord Chester Cornfield VII is... well, he's a puppet. He's a very dapper puppet though, wearing only the finest of robes. His silken crown is firmly sewn onto his head. His mustache is very, very soft. There is a very visible wooded dowel that moves his hand. Nobody has ever seen the lower half of Chester's body- it's always behind something, like a fence or a table. It's impossible to see what (if anything) controls him, as looking will cause one's eyes to forcefully avert themselves.

If I had to describe Chester's voice, I'd say he sounds like a American making a very poor attempt at a British accent.

Personality:
Loud and bombastic, Lord Chester is a rather annoying fellow. He's supposedly a king, though he doesn't seem to do any actual ruling. He treats everybody like a subject, but he's a very benevolent ruler- he rarely comes off as condescending. He's just... obnoxious.

While Lord Chester doesn't really rule anything, he does help people to solve their personal problems. Of course, being Chester, he goes about doing this in strange, roundabout ways. People rarely realize that the he was helping them until after he's left.

Relationships:
Lord Chester is on good terms with Imagination, but the full extent of their relationship is unknown.

Magic/Abilities:
Apart from the ability to appear behind things, Lord Chester doesn't seem to have any powers to speak of.

History:
Is there a hand controlling Chester? Does he move on his own? Le'Raana may never know.

Gravity Hurts

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Tsijiari is a short, dark-skinned boy with round facial features. His light blonde hair reaches past his shoulders. He braids feathers and leaves into it- an old cultural tradition. The boy wears red body paint, decorating himself with the symbols for "sun" and "hero". He wears a loose fitting pair of trousers that barely extend past his knees.

Tsijiari wears a broken compass around his neck. He believes it has magical powers, and is extremely attached to it.

Personality:
Level-headed and driven, Tsijiari takes everything a bit too seriously. It's hard to blame him, really- the fate of the entire world is resting on his shoulders! He's under a lot of pressure, and there are days where he really wishes he was just a normal kid. Despite this, he won't allow himself to relax- his sense of duty is too strong.

Underneath all the stoicism, Tsijiari is a very lonely teenage boy who likes hoopball and wishes he had friends to play with. It takes a lot of poking and prodding to get him to show this side of himself though, and he's quick to hide it again when he does.

Relationships:
Raised by the village elder, Tsijiari was never allowed friends growing up- they were a distraction from his training. His parents live somewhere in the village, but he's never met them and he doesn't even know what they look like.

Magic/Abilities:
Tsijiari has "day vision"- he can see perfectly no matter how bright it is.

Having undergone intense training growing up, Tsijiari is quite strong for his age. He understands the basics of combat pretty well, and his size make him very agile in battle. Tsijiari's real skills, however, are with his blowgun. His aim is remarkably good, and the speed at which he can reload is impossibly quick. He's also very good at identifying and extracting poison from the jungle flora and fauna- a secondary skill he's had to pick up. The boy meticulously color-codes all of his darts so he never gets the poisons mixed up.

Tsijiari's compass is always spinning. He believes that when it finally stops, it will point him in the direction of the crystals he seeks.

History:
Fifteen years ago, the gods spoke to the elder of Qave Village through a dream...

Quote from: The Prophecy
Twenty-five years,
A time not too far,
The death shall come
Of our beloved star.
--
In the days of old,
There were crystals sixteen.
To prevent this great end,
The crystals need glean.
--
Who completes this task?
There can be only one:
A child with locks
Kissed by the sun.
--
The great ancient star,
With all of its might,
Will not stop the child
Who can stare at its light.
--
He'll scour the world,
From seas to the skies,
All in the hope
Of stopping our demise.
--
The crystals sixteen
He must then unite,
Only to be lost;
The crystals he'll smite.
--
Impossible? Perhaps.
Some will say it shan't be done.
Yet, that shall be why
He is named the Chosen One.
Prophecy written by SilverDragonsBlood

The message shook the village to it's very core. Were they really doomed? Immediately they began to search for the child of prophecy, desperate to be saved.

After a year, they found him- a child had been born in the village with golden locks. The baby boy could seemingly defy the sun, being capable of staring into it for hours on end without suffering so much as an eye floater. Upon learning of his destiny, the boy's parents willingly gave him up to the village elder to be raised as his own. The boy was christened Tsijiari- a name that means "Little Sun" in his language.

Fourteen years passed, and Tsijiari has completed his training. He can fight, he can climb, and his aim with a blowgun is impeccable. With only ten years before the sun explodes, he's set out on a quest to collect the sixteen crystals and save the world from total destruction.

Spoiler
The prophecy is horseshit- it was just a bad dream. The sun isn't going to explode. Tsijiari's resemblance to the "Chosen One" is purely coincidental. His compass really is just broken. The "sixteen crystals" don't even exist. Tsijiari has been deprived of his parents and his childhood for nothing.

Ethnicity: He's a bird
Height: 4'1"
Weight: 30 lbs.
Occupation: Dark Mage Hunter and Anti-Necromancer Activist
Residence: Anywhere but home
Favorite Food: If it's dead, he'll eat it
Alignment: Chaotic Good

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
He's a condor, see image.

Ezekiel can speak, but it's very difficult for him to do so- he has no larynx. His voice comes out as a guttural, halting baritone because of this.

Personality:
Once a servant of evil, Ezekiel is proof that people (and birds) can change. He takes the concepts of good and evil very seriously, and tries his hardest to be a beacon of justice. Ezekiel acts pessimistic, but deep down he believes that all it takes is a single person fighting for good to make a difference in the world- if he didn't, he wouldn't be fighting so hard.

Ezekiel can be pleasant company, but he's afraid of forming attachments to people. If he feels somebody is getting too close, he'll try to push them away.

Relationships:
While he was once a familiar, Ezekiel has cut all ties with the necromancer was bound to. The bird is deathly afraid of his former master, and stays far away from anywhere he's been sighted.

Magic/Abilities:
Ezekiel has the ability to manipulate rotting flesh. It's not quite necromancy, nor could it accurately be called fleshsculpting- it's more an unholy combination of the two. This ability is pretty niche for the most part, but it does have a few practical uses- it's very good at dismantling the undead, for example.

Ezekiel used to have more abilities (including being able to speak without sounding like he's vomiting), but he lost them when his ties with his master were severed.

History:
Ezekiel has come a long way from where he started.

Hatched by a necromancer in the Killanthro mountains, Ezekiel was raised to be the perfect familiar. Blindly loyal and single minded, the bird carried out his master's will without question. Committing countless crimes against humanity, Ezekiel's heart should have hardened...

But it didn't. She was a young girl, an orphan that his master had taken home. Over the course of a year Ezekiel grew to genuinely care for the child, treating her like one would a younger sibling.

Then he watched as the necromancer sacrificed the child on an alter in order to complete his transformation into a lich.

It was too much. Ezekiel couldn't unhear the girl's desperate screams for help, couldn't unsee her lifeless body drained of blood. He turned on his master that day, vowing to avenge the child he had come to love. He lost badly, and was barely able to escape with his life.

Now cut off from his master, Ezekiel has discovered morality and searches for a way to atone. The bird has taken to hunting down necromancers and other dark mages in order to bring them to justice, but he's too afraid of his former master to face him again. He's also taught himself to speak, and gives talks at colleges about the dangers of necromancy. He doesn't get booked a lot, but he hopes that will change with time.

"I'm telling you dude, this guy has the coolest blades in Le'Raana!"

"Alright, alright, I'll check it out! Man, you're pushy today..."

Ignatius Pratt was a long way from Zantaric. Long, pointless detours weren't anything new for the boy, of course- Carolina was uncannily good at getting the teenager to wander off the beaten path. This time he'd found himself in Arca's bustling market district, watching as the merchants and vendors haggled with customers.

Carolina tugged at the boy's hair with her beak. "You won't be complaining when you see the shit this guy is selling!" she thought to him as the boy approached a blacksmith's stall. "They have cyathil, man! Cyathil!"

Ignatius's eyes lit up. "Wait, really?" he thought back, quickening his pace. Upon reaching the stall, he gasped- the bird was right. The teal metal glimmered in the sunlight, and the numerous steel blades also being sold seemed downright unattractive next to it. A suit of cyathil armor stood on a stand behind the counter, sparkling brilliantly. "No way! That's awesome!"

"Told you!"

Ignatius picked up a cyathil dagger, grinning wildly. He looked at the vendor "Hey, how much?"

The balding man looked the boy over dismissively. "Eighty suns." he said flatly.

"Do I get my Friends discount?" the boy replied instinctively. "That's an awful lot..."

"Hahaha!" Carolina laughed. "We're not in Zantaric you goofball! He won't know what you mean!"

"Ohhhh yeah..."

The merchant gave Ignatius a funny look. "Friends discount? I don't know you."

"Hey, you can just take the knife y'know." The bird flew onto the suit of armor, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Just keep talking for a sec, I'll do the distraction thing."

"But I'm your nephew!" Ignatius told the man angrily. "Come on, can't you can cut the price for me?"

"What? I don't have any-"

*CRASH*

Carolina had undone the armor straps, causing the suit to fall off the stand with a loud clatter. The vendor turned around, and Carolina flew back onto the teenager's shoulder. "Come on, let's go!"

Ignatius nodded, pocketing the knife quickly. The two would slip away into the crowd, hoping nobody had seen them...

Physical Description:
She's a goldfinch, see image.

Spoiler
In reality, Carolina is a very low level demon. Her default form is one of a violet-skinned teenage girl in a purple cowl. Her yellow, almond shaped eyes are much too large for her head. She's not bothered by people touching her eyeballs, oddly enough. Her legs and feet are perpetually burnt to a crisp from wandering the underworld barefoot- it's really hot down there. Her "hair" is more of a weird, phlegm-like substance than it is actual hair. Carolina can wring it out even when it's not wet, much to the disgust of everybody.

Personality:
Carolina is a really impish, mischievous bird. She's very curious, and often gets into things she shouldn't. She also "talks" way too much, although only Ignatius can hear her. She seems to take issue with any form of authority- be it moral or legal, Carolina will rail against them.

Carolina seems to know a lot of things a regular bird shouldn't...

Relationships:
Carolina genuinely loves her "owner" Ignatius, and she considers him the best friend she's ever had. She does like annoying him though, and does thing like pick at his hair and chirp loudly when he's trying to sleep. She also strokes his ego quite a bit, but that's because she thinks Ignatius is cool and wants him to think so too.

Spoiler
Ignatius doesn't know Carolina's true nature- and if she has her way, he never will. She's terrified of alienating him, even if she knows he'd think her secret was awesome.

She seems to like Ignatius's boss Hildegarde, but she also likes to make fun of her. She's really lucky that she can't hear her.

Magic/Abilities:
She can telepathically talk to Ignatius, but she doesn't know why. Apart from that, she's a seemingly normal goldfinch.

Spoiler
Did you think you'd open this spoiler and find out Carolina is actually badass? Nope! Her demonic form is ridiculously weak- all she can do is throw globs of her "hair" at people. It's gross and people can slip in it, but it's not really dangerous.

Spoiler
Carolina- if that's even her real name- spawned in the underworld a few hundred years ago. She always dreamed of traveling to the mortal plane to mess with humans, and finally got her chance by sneaking out behind a larger, more powerful demon!

She didn't get very far- she only got to let a fox into a hen house before she got caught. The priest who was sent to deal with her wasn't strong enough to banish her, so he ended up sealing her away in a bird.

After living a few years as a goldfinch, Carolina found an oddity- a human boy who could hear her voice. She followed him home, and the two became fast friends. She's been supportive of his decision to join The Friends, and she personally thinks being a criminal is a blast!

Seriously, that's her story. Were you expecting something cool?
