How awkward it was to lay on a bed of vines and silver leaves made by a strange monster who wanted to eat him one moment and nuture him the next. He couldn't get it out of his head that perhaps she still had intentions of eating him as soon as he was all rested. Maybe if he was lucky, then, she'd eat him while he slept. But what choice did he have now? If he ran out into the snow, he would die. If he stayed in here with the monster, he would live longer, but chances are he would still die.
I have to survive, he told himself as he began to fall asleep.
