Jak had hunched his slender shoulders as they walked, trying to make it seem like he didn't want to be holding Juun's hand. The three of them entered the village in a line, little Roo hanging on one of Juun's hands and Jak begrudgingly holding the other. The two young children, eight and six, where pale all around. Pale skin, pale hair, pale eyes. And Juun, the woman with them, looked nothing like them at all.

Roo bounced happily, looking forward to getting something to eat finally. Jak was more looking forward to finding someplace to curl up and sleep, but he had to take care of his little sister first. He stopped, forcing Juun, and ultimately Roo, to stop as well. "Have you ever been here Juun? Do you know of anywhere we can eat?" He asked her, watching her mouth intently, as she could not speak words but could only mouth things to him.

Jeral was resting agenst the side of a buliding, his staff resting across his lap.  His staps his eyes open when he hears the voice of what sounds like a little kid. Damn. Shouldn't sleep when I gotta do something. Pop'd be pissed. he thinks as he looks around. No one is on the streets around him, except for three people. He swore he heard one of the two males say something about eatting, and that made Jeral a little hungry. "Gotta get some food. But...I wonder who they are." he mumbles as he gets his 6' frame into a standing position. He graps his staff (he's still a little tired) in two hands, and starts walking, slowly, torwards some food.

Juun followed along, hand in hand as they walked.  She played along and imitated their guardian as Jak wished.  By now she had calmed completely and cheered up a little.  Her ebony skin stood out from the two kids with her and her clothing could cause suspicions about her relation with them.  She watched Jak more than Roo, concerned a little.  She smiled down at him again, seeing through his lie, knowing he enjoyed his hand being held and she made it known.  She squeezed his hand and rubbed her thumb on the top of his palm.  And then Jak asked her a question and she pondered.  Juun looked around and then back at him.  She smiled sheepishly and shrugged.  Even if she had been here before, she wouldn’t have remembered it.  She didn’t even try to mouth anything to him.  She figured it was pretty self-explanatory.

A cloth merchant who was putting up his wares for the day called out to the trio as they passed.  "Some'n' ta eat, ya say?" he hollers good-naturedly.  "Why, that there Rowan Tavern'd be 'avin the best rabbit stew ye evar put 'n yer mouf.  An' ain't too 'spensive either."

Jak watched the tall man suspiciously, his own tiny eight year old frame dwarfed by the man. But apparently the staff-toating person wasn't interested in them, and was wandering off, as though just remembering something to be done.
Roo, his little sister, was still bouncing around jovially on Juun's other hand, but stopped abruptly as the cloth merchant spoke.
"Food food food food!" She squealed, leaning around Juun's voluptuous body to see her brother with pale pupiless eyes. "Let's go eat!"

The pale boy shifted, scowling. A tavern? With skimpily clad Juun? That was just a disaster waiting to happen. But...it was an opportunity to eat...and perhaps find a place to sleep for the night.
His own pale gaze was again focused on Juun, who had already professed silently to having no information about the place. "Alright Juun, I don't like the idea of taking you into a tavern full of drunk men dressed the way you are, but if you don't mind so much, I guess Roo and I can beat em off for awhile." There was a small flicker of humor in the last bit, but it did not quite reach his sharp features.

Juun gazed at the man as well, but took no notice really.  She just stared in his direction as her mind wandered off again.  She snapped out of it as soon as the merchant spoke.  Her attention turned to him and she listened to his horrible speech, but understood him nonetheless.  Then Roo squealed with delight and she felt her hand tugged.  She smiled down at little Roo.  Juun wasn’t too hungry herself, but apparently her masters were.  Hearing her name from Jak again, she obediently looked at him and listened.  His words were actually kind, but she had no choice in the matter really.  She was obligated to do as he and Roo said, now bound to them both.  Juun thought about his question and sighed.  Just the thought of what Jak said made her shiver.  The feeling of all those dirty and scary men groping and fondling her was awful.  Her expression changed as she pondered and she smiled a little at his effort at a joke.  The look on her face showed simply that she was not at all comfortable with the idea, but she sighed and gave another expression.  This one was obedient and told that she had no choice.  But then she smiled a little more, trying to explain that she would do it for his and Roo's sake.  She hoped that she would be read correctly, feeling extremely stupid mouthing off words without her precious voice.

Food?

Jeral's head snaps at the merchant upon hearing the word food. He's hungry, so he wonders where is "Rowan Tavern" is. He looks around, and see the trio start to walk off in a different direction. "Hey, wait!" he calls to them. "You guys know where this tavern is?" Jeral asks them, hurrying torwards them, just in case they did.

Jak frowned at the array of facial expressions she threw at him. Not because he couldn't understand them, but more because he didn't like what they portrayed. Just because he and Roo were her masters, didn't mean they were going to be cruel. He wasn't going to force her into a situation she was that uncomfortable with.
With a small sigh, he looked away, falling back on plan B. There were always restaurants.

Little Roo stared at the man who was suddenly addressing them, her six-year-old face reflecting nothing. Jak finally turned his attention to the man as well. "No, we don't. Sorry." He responded softly, and then was suddenly moving away from his two companions further down the street. Roo jumped and quickly followed after, taking Juun along for the ride.
As long as there was food, she was happy!

Juun looked over at the man, but did not...could not answer.    She just simply sighed.  But then Jak answered and she obediently nodded her head in agreement.  She turned to watch Jak walk off, and then feeling suddenly tugged along again as Roo dragged her after him.  She meeped silently, trying to keep up with little excited Roo.  Where were we going now??  She was happy that she wouldn’t have to do what she though earlier and sighed in relief.  And then she remembered Jak's frown.  It was like he was disappointed in her.  But not because she was uncomfortable with doing sexual related tasks.  Disappointed because she would even think he would use her as such a thing.  She thought about the boy differently just then.  She sort of looked up to him and then she felt stupid.  She looked up to a small boy...  That was degrading.  She felt inferior to him.  Like he was smarter than she was...and it was probably more than true.  Juun wasn't the smartest person after all.  She was so naive.  She couldn’t even read or write...  She was never allowed to learn anything.  And then there was this boy, Jak, who made her look even more stupid.  So why did she look up to him??  What gave her this feeling about him??  What was this feeling she felt about him??  She sighed silently again, in despair this time and lowered her head as she followed.

Roo noticed her new best friend's dismayed look, and quickly slowed down to walk alongside Juun. The cute little girl twisted a bit, trying to get a better look at the saddened woman's face. "Aww, Juun, don't be sad!" She wasn't entirely sure why Juun was sad in the first place, and couldn't exactly ask either.
They were going to have to do something about that voice of hers.
"Well, I guess I don't know why you're so depressed looking...but hey, cheer up! You don't look as pretty when you're all sad-looking! Besides, Jak'll make it all better, whatever it is. He always makes things all better!" The young girl beamed up at Juun, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.
One would never guess Juun was their slave by the way they treated her.

Jak's slightly pointed ears heard the one sided conversation, but did not acknowledge it, acting as though he had heard nothing. He was still far enough ahead of them that the feigned ignorance was believable. But little known to the poor Juun, neither Jak or Roo were really what they seemed in any respect. They both seemed like children physically at least, but Jak's drawn face reflected a longer life than just eight simple years. Actually, his kind aged very slowly, so to get a more acurate read of their age in years, one had to add ten to their physical ages.
That meant Jak was really 18, and Roo 16.
Quite a jump from how old they seemed.

And there were far more secrets to be found about the two siblings.

Finally, Jak haulted in front of a modest little eatery and waited for Roo and Juun to catch up. The tantalizing smell of roasting meat floated out from the homey wooden building, and Roo was practically drooling by the time she came up beside her brother, Juun still in tow.
Jak only had to glance at his little sister to know she approved of the restaurant. She was practically raring to get inside and chow down.
But then his pale, pupiless eyes were turned to Juun, their light reddish color hardly visable. "What about you? Do you like the looks of it?"
Roo bounced. "Or the smell of it!? It smells absolutely delicious!!"

Juun looked over at little Roo and just turned away in embarrassment and humiliation.  She frowned a little and shook her head as if to hastily say 'it was nothing'.  She just listened to the small girl and what she had to say about her brother Jak.  That thought made her feel a little worse now.  That little boy will make it better for her??  How degrading...  She walked along with Roo until she stopped beside her brother.  She gazed down at Jak as he spoke to her.  Her look was sad, but still obedient.  She could care less right now and just nodded her head for agreements sake.  But that food did smell good, and she was quite hungry herself.

At that moment, a tall lanky man guised in a black trench coat and matching hat passed by.  His coat and hat ware extremely exaggerated in the ends, his hat being long at the brim and his lifted collar covering his head practically.  He saw the robust little Elf and turned immediately after he passed, his face also covered by blackness.  His hands were pocketed and the small part of his shoes that showed were also black.  A black hand shot out of his pocket and latched around the Drow's bicep.  "Juuniper..." he spoke slowly and frighteningly in a deadly whisper.

A shiver ran up Juun's spine and she froze in fear, slowly turning to look at the tall dark figure that knew her name.

Anonymous

Jak noticed the look on her face and frowned, but it was one of confusement, not dissapointment. His eyes were drawn toward the man in black who drifted by, and time seemed to slow down for him then, pale eyes taking in all those hidden features, all that darkness.
The hair on the back of his neck stood on end.

Roo was too busy bouncing hungrily to notice anything. That is, until the man grabbed Juun's bicep. The young girl immediately froze, her head snapping around to look up at the man. Her face was totally and hauntingly blank, both large pale eyes seeming to stare down into the depths of that shadowy man. The small hand that held Juun's had suddenly gone icey cold, dead-feeling.

The alarm bells had just gone off.

Without warning, Jak was suddenly in front of the dark man, cold eyes staring up at him without fear, piercing in their intensity. The air around him was cold, too cold. And it seemed like a fuzzy haze now outlined him, as though his aura had suddenly gone cloudy and become visable to the naked eye. His small body was positioned between Juun and the man, in what little arms-length space there was. And he was totally ready to defend her.
"Let her go." His voice hissed out, thin lips barely moving.
Roo stepped up then, her hand sliding out of Juun's, and a similar transformation took place, though not as intense as her brother's.

The air had gone dead still.

The man's head drifted downward to seemingly look at the small children, still nothing but blackness.  He was empty.  Almost like a soulless doll.  Fear did not strike this one.  Nothing could be felt of this figure except...nothingness...  His long arm remained attached to Juun, squeezing her arm firmly.  Wait...how was he holding her??  His arm...was it longer??

Suddenly Juun yelped silently in pain, wincing and trying to pull away.  But the man would not budge and he nearly crushed her arm in his deathly grip.

The man's arm simply yanked Juun by his side as it shrank back to normal, with the rest of his body ever so still.  He still stared down at the children, unphazed by their aura.  He then turned and began to walk away with the frightened Juun, who was unable to fight back or even struggle for some reason.

Anonymous

He was going to regret turning his back on them.

Without warning, with not so much as a whisper, six ghostly dragons were upon the shadow man. They were the exact same kind as had teased Juun on the beach, only with a new blood lust. Smoky white teeth sank into the black shadowy nothingness as though it were flesh, their long bodies wrapping about the man tightly, squeazing. The dragons latched onto the man's throat, shoulders, legs, back, any bit of shadowy flesh they could grab hold of.
A seventh ghost dragon viciously attacked the shadow arm that held Juun prisoner, it's fangs slicing into the shadow like a knife through butter.
It seemed if there was one thing that could attack and hurt shadow, it was ghost.

And all of these deadly, unnatural things stemmed from the two children, came from them, like an extension of their own soul, their own aura. Their eyes glowed that same strange milky white as the dragon spirits coming from them.
They would not let that man take Juun.

A deep echoing chuckle emanated from the being, rumbly and slow as the unforeseen creatures engulfed him.  Though his body was wrenched and squeezed, he did not seem bothered one bit.  Then his arm was sliced.  No matter.  The remaining arm still held Juun, squeezing the life from the poor girl's arm.  And almost immediately, the severed area stretched and weaved itself whole again.  Slipping his other arm free in the same fashion, poofing apart like a black cloud and weaving back into shape, he grabbed hold of one of the ghosts' heads.  He held it firmly and black smoke burned from his contact with it.  Soon the small dragon was becoming consumed by the shadow, turning black from its head and slowly working its way down the snakelike body, honing in on the host.  "Pitiful children." His deep and hollow voice echoed and carried in the shadows.  Using his actions as a distraction, his own shadow creped out from his feet.  It seeped into the small girl's shadow unseen and waited.  "I have no quarrel with you.  The pet is not yours."  He growled deeply.

Juun trembled as her muscles were being crushed, unable to even grab at the Shadow's arm.  Something was wrong.  From underneath his hand, she could feel it.  Something was bleeding into her!  Her flesh was being invaded.  What the hell was it??  She trembled more, losing strength to resist him and she started breathing harder.  She was out of breath.  Her heart raced out of fear.

A slow, cold smile crept across Jak's face even as the shadowy man's ark dissapeared from the ghost's grip and reappeared whole. But that free hand couldn't grab the ghost dragon's head. It slipped right through, the ghost no longer solid enough to be touched by even shadow. Hissing, the dragon then snapped the hand up, the shadow dissolving within it's mouth as though there was some sort of unnatural acid there.
Jak's smirk remained.
"You are the one who are pitiful, shadow." He growled, more dragons whisping from himself and Roo and shooting toward the shadow man. Without warning, all the dragons merged together and smashed into the shadow man, somehow solid yet gaseous enough to make contact with the shadowy flesh.

Roo's eyes flickered to her shadow, realizing what he had done. Despite their ages, both siblings were masters at their unique soulmagick, and her small pointed teeth bared. Concentrating, her shadow suddenly inversed, glowing as white as her eyes and exposing the tendrils of shadow that had been there. Her glowing shadows then whisped into dragons and attacked the tendrils, disolving them.

The shadow man had direly underestimated the children.

Jak snarled at the man's words. "She is ours to protect! And she is no pet!!" He held out one small hand, and Roo grasped it. Power suddenly arched between them, and both children grimaced slightly, as though the sudden electrical power was painful.
The dragon emblem around the seal on her belly suddenly flickered to life with light, and warmth flooded through Juun's body. It flowed the strongest into her arm, attacking the strange numbing the man's shadowy hand was spreading into her flesh.

The children were about to use their most powerful spell. One that was nearly guaranteed to destroy, or at least banish, the creature attacking their Juun. Their aura arched and spun with white ghostly light, more dragons exploding from within them, never relenting their attack on the man even as the children prepared themselves from the extraordinarily painful technique they were about to use.

"We relinquish our youth...our life...to vanquish our foe...and to protect the one we love..." They whispered through clenched teeth, a severe burn begining to spread throughout their small bodies. They were willing to go all the way for Juun, even if it meant giving up a chunk of their youth and vitality to keep her safe.

"hmmm..." the shadow muttered curiously as he could not hold the ghost.  How difficult.  Damn these impudent children.  He watched the dragons merge and poofed again, reforming after the impact.  It was almost as if he wasn’t a just a shadow.  He seemed only connected to this plain...like he wasn’t really there.  But he was able to hurt Juun.  The shadow smugly brushed himself off after reforming and looked back at the two.  He could only chuckle that freaky laugh as Jak defended Juun.  "Fool.  She IS a pet.  Nothing more.  She is a toy, a doll, an item used to satisfy the most erotic of sexual desires." He continued.  What was this?  The children were more than what they seemed.  But no matter what they did, the shadow was not intimidated, or impressed.  The small girl had saved herself from his leech and now they hoped to save Juun...how quaint.  He slowly extended his arm and it quickly distorted itself, reforming into a soul-eating reaper.  Its blade glowed brightly with every bit of their dragons' energy.  Suddenly, there was something else...a power...not a shadow...  This creature was merely a vessel...a vessel funneling life and death into energy.  What could this thing be??

Anonymous

The children no longer worried about what it was their foe did. Only at the last moment did their giant dragon dissapear, that last spike of power giving them the final edge they needed to finish their spell.
The white electric power arched above and around them, their whispy white hair floating out around their head with the charged air particles that buzzed with their aura. Their seal, the one that now burned brightly on Juun's stomach, firmly claimed her as theirs, and flowed their own young power through her body, unlocking him from his grasp at the last moment possible. She could move again, finally, as the children finished their most powerful spell.

"WE BANISH YOU CREATURE, AND WHATEVER POWER DRIVES YOU, INTO THE OTHERWORLD!" It was not a yell, but a scream, as pain ripped through their little bodies, and the lit up with brilliant light. They could no longer be seen, too bright they were, as though the sun were radiating from within the confines of their soft white skin. They were like the sun itself, their hands clasped tightly together, forging the bond that doubled their power.

The spell was complete.

Rings of light flashed into existance around the shadow and his arm, binding him even though they did not touch him. The spell might destroy the vessel, but what was certain was that it and the power within it was doomed to the Otherworld, the outskirts of this planet's magickal dimension. Once there, it could take a long and painful time to escape. Even pure energy could be sent there.
But it came at a hefty price.

The rings convulsed suddenly, squeazed the shadow and his power, and then dissapeared in a brilliant flash, taking it's cargo with it to the Otherworld.
And collapsed upon the ground were the two children, the glow of their power slowly fading from within their skin.
But there was something wrong. Something was different.
Though they lay on their bellies, it was obvious that they were not quite the same size as before...

Anonymous

Realizing his current disposition, the shadow stood at ease, lowering his arm.  The rings bound him and his body was evaporated by the overbearing power those children possessed, but not before another deep cackle escaped into the echoes and the aftereffect of their attack cleared.

Juun fell to her knees after her body was released.  She gasped softly, shivering, and wiped the tears from her eyes.  She peeked over at Jak and Roo, the two who actually stood up and defended her.  Now she felt really horrible.  Her defeated expression was now a curious and surprised one as she looked the two over from where she sat.  What the???  They weren't children anymore...  Wait...but...how???  She blinked curiously and crawled over to Jak and turned him over to see his face as she sat beside him.  She mouthed his name silently in the form of a question, wondering what was going on.  She then gazed over at Roo next to him and more tears streamed down her saddened face.  She was concerned and frustrated now.  But why??  Why should she feel concern for them?  She shook her head, unable to answer her own question and closed her eyes tight, her tears running down her cheeks and landing on Jak as she held him a little and gazed back at him.  'What are you??' she mouthed, lowering her head and breathing shakily.

The aftereffects of their spell was evident. Both had...aged. The youth they had sacrificed to the banishing spell had simply been sucked out in a sizable chunk, leaving them years older.
They were no longer eight and six.

They were now thirteen and eleven.

Both unconcious, they looked fairly peaceful. The glowing dragon emblem they had placed on Juun slowly faded back to it's regular color, the warmth that had flowed through her body gently fading with it.
The air calmed, and finally, all was still.

A few drops of water fell onto Jak's now older face. His nose wrinkled, brow furrowing as he twitched slightly.
Was that...was that water...? His face was wet...
Ugh, everything was so sore...
Damn spell...
Spell...
Wait!

Pale eyes flickered open, and upon seeing the figure bent over him, Jak tensed, ready to attack. But then those pale reddish eyes focused, and he released who was holding.
"Juun??" He quickly sat up and took her shoulder, looking her straight in the eye. He had missed her silent questions, his eyes closed when she had mouthed them. "Are you alright?" He demanded, a bit surprised at the slight change in his voice, that was sure to get worse before it got better. The worry Jak felt was evident in his face as he waited for Juun's silent response. He was even able to block out the throbbing in all his muscles and organs from the forced growth.
It felt weird being in an older body, with all his limbs feeling too long, too heavy, too cumbersome.
But he'd quickly adapt, as he was meant to do.

Roo sat bolt upright with a gasp, her slender hand immediately clutching at Jak before she remembered where she was. She then squealed and practically lept into Jak's lap in order to get to Juun. "Oh my goodness, are you alright??? Are you Ok???"
Jak grunted slightly as his sister landed on top of him, half-heartedly pushing at her slender shoulder in an attempt to dislodge her sharp little knees from his thighs.
