Aori was so engrossed in his book that the entire town could have exploded, and he was unlikely to have noticed. In his defense, it was a very good book. It wasn't the kind of thing his tutors would have referred to as educational, but for him it was definitely education of a sort. In this book, there were men. Men with men, and they did stuff! It was all very exciting. To Aori, at least. Reading about romance was the closest he was ever likely to get to it, after all.

His parents had tried setting him up with both men and women, and shortly come to the conclusion that he was a lost cause. He'd shown no real interest in the women (which was no great surprise) and with the men he did like, he had tripped over his own feet and spent the majority of the time looking like a cherry tomato. He may also have held an entire (one-sided) conversation about the benefits of turtles as childhood companions. It wasn't his finest hour.

He found solace in the fact that, had his companions been turtles, they might not have judged him quite so harshly. It was a small comfort, but it was a sort of comfort nonetheless.

Aori poked his tongue out of his mouth slightly and bit down gently in concentration as he read, his cheeks already flushed with color. He had started to read on his way back from collecting the book from the merchants, and had to find a wall to sit on to stop from constantly walking into people. It was totally worth it.

Kyran wasn't a tradesman. He had no really valuable skills, hated doing any sort of work that involved sweating or getting dirty, and truly didn't have much to offer. Even when he did manage to suck it up and snag a job, inevitably, he failed.

But, despite that, he had to make money somehow. Not only did he have to feed himself, but over the last month or so he'd wound up caring for a werewolf on top of it all. A blind one at that, one that was still healing from the fight that had blinded him, one that couldn't yet care for himself. He didn't mind it--he loved the company and Lune had fast become his friend and partner--but it did mean he couldn't just scrape by anymore, freeloading.

And so it was right back to doing the one thing he was good at, the one thing he never failed to make money doing, the one reliable skill any incubus--even a half one--had.

It hadn't been going well so far. It was a hot day which only made the fish-smell stronger, so that probably didn't do much by way of amorous feelings.

Absently jingling his last two coins in his hand, he was on the verge of just giving up and seeing what he could buy with it when a large brute of a man bumped him hard as he passed by.

Kyran gave a yelp of surprise and tried to keep his feet, but it had taken him unprepared and he only wound up tripping over his own shoes. He flailed, felt his hand grab onto something, and held on out of reflex as he went down.

That something turned out to be a someone, a someone who also cushioned his fall nicely. When the shock of falling faded, he found himself staring down into the face of a younger boy. Who he was currently pinning. Who wasn't half bad to look at, either!

He propped himself up on his elbows to take some of his weight off of the kid before flashing him what he hoped was a charming grin. "Well, hello," he said, waggling his eyebrows. "I'm Kyran. Nice to meetcha."

Aori gulped as he looked up the older boy, face flushed pink and eyes wide, as if he'd just been caught doing something particularly bad. He slammed the book shut in front of him with a small squeak and froze in place, almost forgetting how to breathe.

The boy was touching him. Probably not on purpose, but still... Aori had pretty much no physical contact with anyone outside of handshakes. That was what his parents deemed as being almost 'overly affectionate'. The unfamiliar skin on his was shocking and new. He kinda liked it.

"Meat?" Aori echoed back, not quite catching what the stranger had said, and confusing himself. He wasn't sure his brain was fully functioning yet. He quickly shook his head, trying to snap himself out of it. He had to be seeing things, after all. Was the stranger leering at him? At least he caught the name, and gave a shy, cautious smile, heart thudding frantically in his chest. The way the guy was leaning over him was still quite unnerving. Most people didn't get that close.

"You fell on me." Aori pointed out helplessly, barely noticing the words passing his lips, "I-I'm Aori. You're standing really close." he gulped again, not expecting to make any kind of sense. "You're warm." he finished lamely.

Ground, swallow me now.

Kyran's eyebrows raised. Well, he sure snapped that book shut awfully fast, and while he hadn't been interested before (for he couldn't really read), he suddenly felt very curious as to its contents.

But first things first.

"Actually, I'm laying on you," Kyran pointed out, in no real hurry to move. Was the boy blushing? Aww, well it sure did give his cheeks some nice color, and Kyran couldn't help but find it adorable. Poor kid seemed so nervous--but then again, he had crashed into him and put him in a rather compromising position.

Kyran was quite comfortable with said position.

But they were sprawled in the middle of the street, out in peoples' way, and he was laying on the poor guy. Not even he could pretend he was light. With a small grunt, he rolled off of the kid and started to his feet, brushing off his hands and knees, then offered a hand to help him up. "Sorry about that. Some guy bumped me and, well, hey! Guess it was just meant to be, eh?" he said with a smile.

"Eep!" Aori squeaked eloquently, wriggling slightly underneath the guy. If he didn't move soon, there was going to be blood rushing to other, considerably more embarrassing places than his face. In his defense, it was probably more bodily contact than he had experienced in his lifetime. All rather tragic, really.

When the guy finally got to his feet, Aori bolted upright, clutching tightly to his book and using it to shield his rather unfortunate reaction. Thankfully, it was a big book.

Shining a little brighter and even pinker than usual, Aori began to attempt to sideways shuffle, crab-like, away from the situation.
