A PIRATE, A THIEF, A FORGOTTEN PRINCE

Some 'Ancient' History First...

Gherrick is the crowned prince from the Legendary Windevhr Islands- a legend almost but erased from history.  Windevhr island was prosperous, and held technology and magics well beyond it’s years.  It’s power was connected through the royal lineage from their goddess who was thought to be trapped inside the earth.  This was their legend known as the ‘birth seed’- as the goddess’s body connected itself inside the earth and formed and created all of all the known life and magics that exsist.  It was said her body was now a part of the island and a part of the people living there.
Eventually, other nations of it’s time had grown jealous and the island found itself under attack.  These foreigners wanted the unique trade goods only the Windevhr island could offer, and to seek out a way to learn of it’s impressive magicks and technologies.  The attack came as a surprise and was so vicious the island nation was unprepared to defend itself.  In order to protect the island secrets and it’s people, the King had to call upon the Goddess herself to take their island into the sea, so that no one could find out the secrets of their power and use it for their own, twisted purpose.
Gherrick is uncertain how he managed to survive, but found himself waking up on an island several miles away, and also awakened in a world several centuries later….

Physical Description (and some of the Legend behind 'Seven') Gherrick is a man of normal height for his race of people, most women being barely over 5' and most men standing around 6.  He has the classic Evherien dark, red hair, which he wears long, normally kept into a tamed, gold cuffed pony tale which falls just between the middle of his shoulder blades.  He also wears a dark blue clothe headband across his forehead that ties in the back. Most of his bangs, which are cut long and wildly about his face, are worn over this tall, blue head band but in the back, it remains over the hair.  He also has misc. beads strung throughout his hair in golds and blues.

His eyes are a vibrant, dazzling blue, and he is very handsome, always adorning a smile. His nose is unique, in that he has a slight ridge in the center, a distinctive trait of the Evherien race.

Gherrick tends to wear blue silk clothing, trimmed in gold embroidery.  On the front of his blue, silk tunic is embroidered the ancient Symbol of Windevher, showcasing the goddess in what the island believes to be her raw form (a woman with many tendrils that connect her to the elements of the earth).

The back of his tunic used to be empty, but now an intricately embroidered gold 'Seven' resides on the back to match his unique nickname he had acquired; though the real truth behind it remains a mystery.

Some believe it is because he had stolen seven ships, others, because he can control seven elements of magic.  Some say his name came about because he had seven lovers, stole from seven lords, or had seven whip lash scars on his back... which, that one might be true, but those scars now appear hidden hidden his infamous number. Now, a massive, ornate black tattoo consumes most of his back in the number '7', making those scars nearly invisible, though they can be felt, and seen when observed up close as the skin is much paler and rises up fro his flesh in remnants of the welts he had received from a whip.

His pants are similar in fashion, worn in a length to mid calf, where they remain tucked into a pair of slick, black boots.  The pants have a a gold dragon like creature crawling up one side, and a scroll of ancient prayers on the other- the language in which has long been forgotten to this world. (Dragon like image is on the left, the glyphs are on the right)

Underneath his clothes he wears simple white under garments- a white tunic with 3/4 length sleeves, and boxer type briefs that are form fitting.  His arms are normally adorned with leather cuffs, worn snuggly from wrist to just a mere few inches from his elbow. Atop of his left arm remains an intricate, gold sculpted bracer- adorning the symbol of his nation- their goddess wings set amidst a pyramid.  3 colorless jewels adorn each side of the triangle.  The cuff is fastened by three sturdy clasps.  On his other wrist, he wears an array of gold bangle and beaded bracelets, and a single, smaller cuff with a large, glittering blue gem in the center.

Ontop of his hands, his leather braces extend out and over the top of his skin up to his knuckles.

Personality
Gherrick can be a bit of a showoff. Once being a crowned Prince, he loved to entertain, especially through sword and dance.  He is one to value life, and would rather fight with a bo staff over a sword, and avoid confrontations if at all possible. He also has a very high sense of justice, and can not tolerate to see others be taken advantage of.  He will protect others and the weak, even at the cost of his own life (which he had recently found out isn't quite as easy as he thought, considering the ancient magics running inside his blood seem to have helped him out in more than one life-saving circumstance).

Because of his desire to protect, Gherrick can be irrational. On the contrary, he was a crowned Prince, so he is very well educated and is always quick to come up with some sort of plan, even after finding himself in some peculiar situation of bravery.
Due to his history, he always feels like he needs to be the hero, for where he failed to save his people, he believes he's had a second chance, and so, in turn, should not waste it. (See more of this history below)

He is very outgoing, loves to dance and even playfully flirt. He rarely takes things seriously, but has a very good natured heart and a rather serious soul.  He will do just about anything to get someone to laugh, and will try to do anything in his power to prevent those he knows or can protect from getting hurt.  Gherrick is always good for a laugh, and has a bit of a naive charm about him because he is so damn optimistic.  One thing is for certain, he'll more than likely want to be your friend, and even if you're his enemy, he'll still take the time to apologize if he finds the need to punch you in the face and knows it's not entirely your fault you were employed by a devilish individual.

Gherrick is also a bit shy around the ladies, always blushing, especially when receiving a kiss. He is very noble and just in the acts of love, however, despite his flirtations and only aims to bed a woman he truly loves- hoping that someday, it will be his wife....

The Thief and Pirate
Currently, Gherrick works as a thief, with the beginnings of a popular following among the poor- since he 'steals' from the rich, and gives to the poor (and he does this on land or sea).  He is actually rather good at what he does, considering his style of fighting is elegant, like a dance, and can find himself nimbly acrobating his way out of unfortunate circumstances.  But that's not to say he's never been caught (though, he has never been hung!) He had, in fact, been caught before and received quite a wretched amount of lashings (hence some of the reasonings behind his nick name 'Seven').

There are also rumors floating around that he had only been freed from the noose because of an affair he had with a royal lady, who was supposed to be promised to the Duke of Allar's Son, Calent.  Unfortunately, if their love had been true (though most rumors speculate and embellish on it that it had been), it ended in tragedy, since the lady died abruptly (though some accuse it of foul play).  Needless to say, he's not liked among the wealthy of Connlaoth.  They twist the story into a darker meaning, while the poor class sees it as a tragedy of true love for a poor man.

A History of Love
The woman was named Serrah, and she had been promised to Duke Calent, but had fallen in love with Gherrick- a love that could never be. They had met one time on the ocean, when 'Seven' was only a name not everyone was aware of in passing (after all, his fame was only beginning to rise at this time).  It was on board her ship they had first met and he made sure to only steal the coin purses she pointed out (from the men she viewed as wicked and found herself thrilled to help his cause), and from it.. a love was formed.
And it was an unfortunate ending.  She had been killed. He only found out weeks after the murder since he had been out at sea. To return home to find out she was dead- murdered, by some 'mage'; he was devastated. And the heaviness felt in his heart is still carried to this day.  Gherrick has been since labeled as the murderer by the lies twisted among the upper class and royals.  THough even these days it still seems the man is a muddled mix of mysteries.

Magic/Abilities
Gherrick possesses raw powers that can only be used if he prays to the Goddess Child, Evra, from his island. If the Goddess grants his request, he is blessed with her powers, which is indicated by the glowing runes that suddenly show up on his skin.
Most of his abilities are raw elemental and healing magics, and if the power summoned is too great, it is said a castor can become lost to the magic's raw elements and even more dire consequences could occur...
Magics of his people were rarely used, unless circumstances call for it, because they people of Windevher never wished to take advantage of their Goddess's special gift.

Gherrick has jewels embedded beneath the flesh of his skin, which are nearly invisible to the naked eye. However, when he is calling out, praying to his goddess for power, the jewels will immediately light up, and his entire body became glowing with an intricate design work of gold, glowing goddess, rune like symbols.  THis allows the magic caster to know he has been blessed by the goddess and he is then granted to share her power and can thus cast ancient, raw elemental magical spells.

Gherrick's magics are initially immune to mordecai's effects, however, he will slowly become ill in the presence of mordecai, starting off as a minor illness to his stomach, then a visible bleeding from his nose, then ears until he will eventually find himself coughing up blood and passing out, possibly dying if he remains in their contact for too long a period of time.

Relationships
Serrah- dead lover
Eliana Kazmi- it's complicated!
Aurora Waiter- childhood friend (though he assumed she was dead, or long lost with the rest of his sunken island)
