Lucien was genuinely surprised that she accepted, that she didn't pull away or seem upset by his sudden actions. The moment was blissful, for what it was, his heart hammering loudly as it threatened to leap from his chest.
He'd been unaware of their floating, too focused on the moment and letting her see that he was serious. The sudden lack of silence startled him slightly, but he was happy for a quick moment to catch his breath.
Despite her grin the thought still crossed his mind that she might have just been polite to spare his feelings. The small peck of a kiss, though, was what sealed it in his mind. He slipped a hand to the small of her back to pull her flush against himself. Tilting his head slightly to look over his shoulder and make sure he was going the right way Lucien made to swim backwards with her towards where they'd left their things before.
Once he was sure he was going straight he leaned close to press a quick kiss to her wet hair. "Thank you," he spoke softly, unable to keep from smiling. "I'm sorry that was so sudden, I shouldn't have chased you down like that," he apologized, though truly he was not sorry in the least for what he'd done. In fact, he was quite proud of himself for having secured a kiss.
