TheHighwayman

Soooo.... I occasionally write poems (not particularly good ones, but hey) out of boredom or because some minor inspiration strikes me. Figure I might as well share what I come up with with you guys. WARNING: some of the inner workings of my mind can be rather grim. Here's what I came up with to get my brain to stop bugging me about productivity right now:

The Highwayman's Call

Hey there, having a nice day?
Oh dear, seems I'm in the way.
Well, afraid you'll have to pay.
If not, I might have to slay.

Oh, nothing I'd rather be.
No, of course you can't quite see.
Listen up, this life keeps me free.
Besides, the murder fits me to a tee.

Pass along? Yes you may.
If, of course, you stop and pay.
Otherwise, I'm afraid you should pray.
Step aside? Sorry, but I'm here to stay.

Oh, the law's coming for little old me?
Well, looks like it's time for me to flee.
After all, I wouldn't have much glee.
Should I end up hanging from a tree.

....I would promise that not all of my future poems here will be based on my username, but I'd be immediately tempted to break that promise to screw with you guys. So I'll just say it's highly unlikely.

Can I comment here, if not just tell me I'll remove the comment..
Anyways I really enjoyed the poem. It was witty and amusing, and had a nice rhyme to go along with. You should continue posting here, I really want to read more of your poetry ^^

Appreciate it.  :)

Here's another boredom sparked poem.

See the moths dance round the flame.
Watch them rise and fall and twist.
Soon enough it will end the same.
Step too close to the light's painful kiss.

When the precious heat grows
Will you know friends from foes?
When the dance gives you a turn
Will you watch and will you learn?
Or will you follow the moth as it goes?
Let the fire cleanse all your woes.

Wait and listen to the fire's crackle
As it claims another short fate.
It could almost be a demon's cackle.
Does it promise life, or is it filled with hate?

Watch another moth vanish in the flame.
It won't be remembered, nor will it be missed.
Did it have aspirations? Did it even have a name?
Perhaps it wanted love, or maybe fortune and fame.
Will you be thrown early into time's all consuming mist?
Will you be caught by the fire's simple game?

Paradox

The second one is pretty damn good. *is incredibly constructive with feedback*
