     ## General Overview
Jadenshine is named after the predominant jade deposits in the north, which had formed the backbone of the trade for the central Providence for its early establishment. Through exploration, and now exploitation of other precious metal mines found in both the plains of the north and the marshes of the south, Jadenshine is a wealthy and trade savvy Providence. They maintain their trade routes and the main roads that run throughout the Providence, as they are the lifeblood of Jadenshine. Skilled trade and a keen eye are the most respected in the Providence, and likely to get you ahead.

While House Silinrul has sat atop the rule of the 'Jade Providence' for many generations now, the lower nobility of Jadenshine is quite fluid and changes as one's wealth changes. The Providence allows for pseudo-nobility to be purchased, and merchants to rise to the seats of land owners if they have the wealth to hold it. It's a sort of beautiful chaos in which the economy, trade, and skill dictates who is the upper class.

     ## Geography
The northern portion of Jadenshine is largely grasslands and slowly transitions into floodplains and marshlands the further south. That's not to say that any of the land is considered invaluable. Farmland is found all over Jadenshine, either to produce paper or raise sheep or goats to produce parchment. Fish farms spring up in the marshes and precious gem and metal mines are found throughout the entirety of Jadenshine - the most enterprising individuals will find deep veins of minerals in the marshes. Most prominently, of course, are the large jade mines in the north.

The land around and along roads, likewise, is important. As securing a portion of a trade route is often part of the requirement to be on the Land Owner's Council, swaths of road or river is owned by prominent trade companies or family and maintained by them. Jadenshine, on the surface, is a well-organized and neat Providence. Easily traveled, with roads marked in just about any map, and the rivers wide and deep enough for large boats to carry goods up into Northwatch or south into Raven's way or Kia's Court.

     ## People
Like most Serenians, the people of Jadenshine claim fae ancestry. Those of import, or nobility, will insist that they have more fae blood than others, but there is often no proof of this. There is no doubt that fae blood does run hot through Jadenshine, though. Opal, pearlescent, and white hair is commonplace - often seen as the ideal - and pale skin. The less 'human' someone looks, and more fae, the more attractive to the general populace of Jadenshine. This has left a lot of Jadenshine to be slender, of light hair of odd colors, and frequently unnatural eyes.

A sensitivity to iron is often boasted about and magic is quite common, if not outright expected in Jadenshine. Those without magical abilities might find themselves displaced or looked down upon in Jadenshine, and they'll certainly have a hard time being seen as entirely equal. Unless they have the coin  and correct paperwork to make up for the inadequacy.

     ## Nobility
Jadenshine touts itself as a land of prosperity for anyone, and it's not far off its mark. It is entirely possible, through careful trade, bribery, or skill that one can purchase a seat on the Land Owner's Council, which is a board of advisors that meet to determine the major decisions of Jadenshine. There is an honorary seat saved for Silinrul - meaning they are never required to prove they deserve to be there, as the House has been the wealthiest and 'ruling' House of Jadenshine for some time now. Others, however, must own some important stretch of land ( such as farms, cities, or major road/river trade route), a mine, and a trading company to be worthy. While this might sound like something that might be easy to accomplish, land is a precious commodity in Jadenshine and only a few land barons actually own the prerequisite to sit on the Land Owner's Council. Some are old families, others are trade companies, and a very small few are individuals.

All of this means that property titles, trade deeds, mine plots, and the paperwork associated is equally important. To say that Jadenshine sits on pillars of trade and bureaucracy is an understatement. Paperwork is almost as important as the gold backing it and land can be lost if there are no deeds in the Capitol to prove ownership. House Silinrul maintains their power by not only owning the Capitol Giada, but the House of Records and Deeds where all of Jadenshine's official records are kept. One does not own land in Jadenshine without a filing there, and a filing does not stay in the House of Records and Deeds if House Silinrul doesn't want it to.

The Land Owner's Council is made up of those wealthy individuals who own land and are a large part of the trade in Jadenshine. While they might own and manage land outside of Giada, they likely maintain an estate and presence in the capitol. Most leave their own bureaucratic representatives, trusted individuals who can handle and navigate the wealth of paperwork that Jadenshine thrives on.

     ## Positions for these families, businesses, and individuals are open for creation. Please PM SanctifiedSavage to discuss their creation.

     ## Culture
Count the Cost is not just the motto of the Providence, but it a way of life for most. What might seem pedantic, obnoxious, and redundant to most is simply 'covering your ass' in Jadenshine. Where fortunes rise and fall so easily, the people are always mindful of what is theirs and keen to keep it that way. Even the street market merchants have their permits on hand, at their stalls, in warded chests. Notarized properly, of course. They feel only sympathy for those who wander into their markets and trade with absolutely no 'know how' but that doesn't mean they're not above taking advantage of that ignorance.

Trade and deal in Jadenshine at your own risk.

That is not to say that the people are unfriendly. There is a general air of 'being busy', but the people are happy and the cities are largely safe. Especially the larger ones, where the wealthy invest in guards and police to ensure their property and investments remain undamaged.

Conversely, Jadenshine is a place where people have moved to 'make it big', only to lose everything. Loan sharks are charismatic, preying on the ignorant and new. Forgery is a thriving black market business and smuggling is a high risk, high reward 'trade'.

     ## Laws
The law is a living thing in Jadenshine. New laws can be writ by the Land Owner's Council, should the need arise, and they can be torn from the 'books' as it were, if the need arise. Ultimately, House Silinrul holds 'veto' power but the general populace lives at the whim of what is writ at the current time.

That being said, most laws do not fluctuate often. Cheating and forgery are heinous criminal offenses, punishable by fines or jail time depending on the amount and to whom it was done to. Breaking into the Hall of Records and Deeds is punishable by death, if you're both able to escape and are caught after. Most die during the process of trying to get out. A lot of disagreements are taken care of between the two parties, especially if it involves sketchy contracts, improper paperwork, or activities best left unnoticed by the nobility.

A contract is supremely binding in Jadenshine, no matter what is on it. If it is proven to be a valid contract, slavery is entirely legal. Rather, it's called indentured servitude. A contract cannot be signed under duress, of course, but that has to be proven too.

Needless to say, there are a lot of arbitrators, scribes, judges, enforcers, notaries, and auditors who serve in this bureaucratic system. All of whom must attend some formal school, become licensed in their job, and are up for review whenever their work might be questioned. They usually become patrons of some merchant company, noble house, or other wealthy individual. House Silinrul is said to have an army of such people.

..... Giada
Giada is the capitol of Jadenshine and the seat of power for House Silinrul. It's a decadent city, where magic marries delicate metal work and wealth is frequently put on display. The nicer districts : the Records, the House Grounds, and Merchant Offices, have clean, paved streets with greenery and mage-lights that light up the night. Hired guards keep undesirables out and the place generally safe. The Guild streets and Trader's School districts are still nice, where sprawling schools claim swaths of land and show off various work. Hoping to encourage wealthy patrons to fund their works or students.

Rivers run through Giada, and depending on which district it passes through, will determine how nice the river's edge. Generally, though, the water itself is kept clean as a city rule. It's used to transport goods not only around the city itself, but throughout the rest of Jadenshine and beyond. The locals call it the 'Jade Flow'.

There are a plethora of farms surrounding Jadenshine. The land belongs to Silinrul, thus the farms and the roads leading outside of the city are patrolled by guards who owe allegiance to the House. They keep both the farms and the roads safe. It's generally seen as a daft move, 'poking the bear' so to speak, to cause trouble along the roads outside of Jadenshine. Especially if you are a member of a notable family or trading company.

..... House of Record and Deeds
Ink and Gold is the currency in Jadenshine. People go to school just to learn the ins and outs of the laws and loopholes in Jadenshine, and it all leads back to the House of Records and Deeds. The largest building in Giada, owned solely by House Silinrul. It's a monument and place of pride, for those who live and prosper in Jadenshine, and a monolithic reminder of how fickle and flighty it all can be to those who have suffered unfairly due to a 'clerical error' not in their favor. Security is tight, both physical and magical, and trespassing is punishable by death. Without question. Those who live in Jadenshine know not to step out of line in the House of Records and Deeds, as it should be.

..... Prosperity Mine
Often referred to as Mire Mine, this large Jade mine is owned by the Silinrul. The swath of land surrounding is prime fishing, and there is a small fish farm set up on the place, but the real profit comes from the deep, dank jade mine that was found amongst the bog and stench of the mire. It's a hard place to go to, an awful place to work, but it pays well and the trade is decent enough. More to the point though, it's the sort of city that works off under-the-table sort of trades. Where the 'paperwork' is often lost, and no questions are asked. The Overseer of Prosperity Mine is a distant cousin, brother, or uncle ( depending on who you ask ) to Dionte himself, and claims he can get away with just about anything at the Mine. Thus far, his word seems to hold true and there's been no enforcement or, the heavens forbit, auditing at the Mine. Whether that's because the Overseer actually is related to Dionte or he has deep pockets with which to bribe with, no one really knows.

     ## Additional Notes
There is a lot of Jadenshine that I have left, for the moment, unfilled. This is to allow growth and other people to move in and claim bits of the place for themselves. If anyone happens to become disinterested in their claim, their family/company/person can always be the unfortunate recipient of a clerical error and their claim to some land removed.

I'll be filling this in and updating it as I pop in my own people, companies, etc. Generally stirring up whatever manner of trouble I see fit. 8D Just hit me up via PM or discord if you're interested.
