"Listen, all we're asking is that you kill us our demon. There's not much gold, but we can get more!"
The town room, a small wooden chamber with a few chairs and a table, burst into pleadings. Crin Eritney stood before the table, where a man stood on the other side.
She squinted her eyes in thought, and decided both with herself and with the Jury on whether or not to do it. The villagers of Oakwood pleaded, offering bags of coins for the treasurer to take up.
"I'll do it," Crin said. The men and woman all proclaimed thanks and honorable praises. She took up their money, knowing very well that if she failed she would not get any. This normally wasn't the case, and she never stole from villagers, but this case was a very strange one.
They needed her to kill a mothman.

The name bugged at her mind. When she asked them for descriptions, the village folk said "it is half man, half moth!" or "It is a giant moth with two great wings!"
But, although the descriptions varied a little, one thing was the same. They all said it lived off on the mountain, in a cliff side cave, and when ever it appeared above the village some sort of misfortunate event would take place.

Crin left the village, went to the inn and gathered her hunting satchel, and took to the village gates. The watchman reeled them open and she went through. Right outside the village, the road disappeared into the thick taiga forest. She took a breath of the crisp air and looked up, past the blue pines and into the great sky, where the mountain layer of the beast scrapped against the wall of clouds far into the deep, dark woods.

Today was another cool mountain morning for a strange creature who lived in a dark cave in the mountains. He moved his strange antennas as he made sure that there was nothing nearby. He clicked his tongue abit as he  waited for nothing in particular. He had all the time in the world  right now. He had nothing that he had to do at the time.

His red eyes glowed slightly as he watched a few birds playing in the nearby trees. He  knew that if they noticed him he would be disturbing them. He moved his beautiful wings making dust fall slightly from them. Today would be a grand day indeed.

Then he stood up and gave a call that echoed threw the woods. He was telling all of the forest and mountains that this was his territory. After he was done he heard nothing but silence. A sound that he was used to.

Crin wandered through the woods, bow in hand. Her senses were alert for anything odd, or even unworldy. She found a giant rock that rose like a ramp above the talk conifers. She climbed above it, getting a bare in her surroundings. The forest was patchy, some areas thick with trees and others thin with the skeletons dead ones. Dense ferns covered the ground where mounds of rocks were not.
Suddenly, a great call echoed through the forest, echoing throughout the valley. She ducked down, pressing her belly to the rock. Somewhere, the demon was waiting. Perhaps even watching her. She quickly slipped off of the rock and looked around the treetops and mountain cliffs. There were many gashes in the rock, and none showed anything. This would be quite a different experience than she'd ever had before.

Chase was standing at the edge of his cave. He was not aware that he was not alone on the mountain. Though he knew that the locals were always trying to  get someone to kill him. He did not understand why though. He never harmed them. Sure his presence cause strange events to happen but that was not his fault.

He shook his head as he stood there and he moved towards the edge of the cliff . There he spread his grate wings and warmed them in the sun. like an insect he was cold blooded. Though he did have human features he was more like a bug then any thing else.

Crin crouched by the rock, listening to ever sound and watching all movement that came from the cliffs and mountainsides.  The small breezes picked up a little, blowing gusts through the trees. The gray sky collaborated with the low temperatures to make a dreary mood in the valley. The many gray boulders towered above the trees like the one she stood on, and each of them would make ample lookout points. She searched for a tall, easily accessible peak and spotted one a few hundred feet away. She stole into the darkness of the forest, slipping through the ferns and using the moss to muffle her steps.
She reached the rock, climbing up the damp surface with her bare hands (instead of using her slippery, leather glove).
She got to the top and looked around. Wherever it was, whatever it looked like, she was going to kill it.

Chase smiled slightly as he  sat in his cave. He was not sure what he had saw moving below but he was sure that it would not bother him. Unless it was a foolish hunter. Even then they would have a hard time getting him. He was a formidable foe to try to kill. He then wondered if those villagers would ever send a formidable foe. He watched the insects in his cave crawl on the wall. He did not here the sound of someone nearing his cave. He did however notice that the shadows around the cave started to move with the breeze that was blowing threw the mountains now.

As Crin neared the cave, a rock dropped in her stomach. It was high up on a rock cliff, the only foothold being some jagged overhangs. She wasn't sure if this was the right cave but it was a place to start. Se she drew nearer, the wind began to pick up and some dead leaves blew past her. The opening in the rock was about twenty feet above her, and she could barely make out a path to ascend.

When at last she reached the opening, having slipped once on her way and nearly falling the ninety feet down to the jagged base, she hulled herself into the overhang. Wind whistled into the cave, making her hair brush her cheeks. The cave seemed to go deep into the mountain like a narrow mouth, filling with darkness not more than a stones throw away. She set down her leather pack, opening the buttoned flap and rummaging for a torch. Finding one, she opening a small jar of tar, dipped the torch inside and lit the torch with a quick spark from her fingers. She swung the pack around her shoulder and held the torch before her, staring into the narrow tunnel. Swallowing her fear, she trekked into the darkness of the cave, unsure what monstrosity could be within.
