Maven didn't like the borderlands and its inhabitants, though she where in Serendipity, the northern parts bordered Connlaoth. The inhabitants, while not as extreeme, had a distrust to mages and magical creatures. Though magic had changed her parents, she was still very much human and not a mage, it was always an insult to be labeled anything else, but she had long since learnt to swallow her pride and do her job.

This time she was hired by a farmer on the more flat grassland to hunt and possibly kill something, she saw the marks on their sheep and concluded that it hadn't been from a natural predator. Which meant, most of the time, that it was a monster. Maven's definition of monster though, was evil, she was an evil hunter rather then an unnatural creature hunter that most folks thinks when they hear that she is a monster hunter.

There where grey areas to her morals, some non sentient creatures acted on self preservation instinct which would drive them to attack others sentient or livestock alive and it would take to long time to relocate them, not to mention dangerous. Maven needed to be quick, to protect herself, the reward could be lodging, a warm and safe place to sleep for a night, food or coin to aquire such thing herself, and as such she would kill such creature on sight.

As per usual, when others couldn't see her, other then her intended target, she threw her cloak and headpiece, which would both still be in the air after her initial attack. For a non sentient enemy, it usually was enough to run past them with her demonic speed, slicing their troath, or other vital area, wherever appliciable, but after she ran past it, she would grope the air, as if there was a ball. There hadn't been any resistance as she zipped past it, nor where there any residual blood on her fingers.

Nail tried to be subtle and not drag too much attention to himself. He'd clearly failed though because the scents of other was now prominent. It wasn't just sheep and farmers anymore. He lifted his nose to the air and took a sniff, licked his maw and hunkered close to the ground. Nail  eyed the sheep he'd killed from his spot in the brush. Felt his stomach tense in hunger. It'd been a few days since he ate last and he supposed he'd been lazy with hiding the last sheep corpse - he could see why they'd hired someone to get rid of the predator.

The beast was an interesting looking creature. Long and slim, his mouth was full of sharp teeth and a suspiciously long pointed tongue. Rusty red fur covered his slim cat-like body, though he looked distinctly like a wolf of some kind. Horns lined his muzzle up to his head where they curled forward from long alert ears. Mirror-silver eyes kept watch of the new 'predator'. It smelled like a woman. It also smelled familiar.

Nail wanted to ask questions. Wanted to become familiar. He'd been searching for almost a year and he'd felt himself die every single day of that. Felt his body age by the day. The first unfamiliar scent, the first hint of not-human and he was intent.

What the wolfy-beast hadn't expected was to be attacked.

Silvery eyes went wide and he gasped softly as he jumped back. It was a quick transformation between wolf and humanoid and Nail jumped back, bones cracking and with a soft gasp. Where a wolf had jumped back from the attack, a man landed and stared with silvery eyes. Confusion clouded his features and he stood, arms back looking alarmed. Maybe a little hurt that his own would attack him. "You!" Nail said, moving closer with his arms out, hands held open. He was an interesting looking creature, as a man.

He was fully nude, but his legs were digitigrade and red-furred, like an incomplete transformation. His long elegant tail flicked behind him for balance, a trail of furr up his spine to his shaggy red hair. Long pointed ears and the same horns lined his skull like a crown.

"You can help me!" Nail implored. She smelled like Kin. Smelled familiar. "Please, I'm dying. I just...I just need some of your blood and everything will be fine." He took a step closer to the girl? monster? beast? He couldn't tell what she was, but she smelled familiar to him and that was all that mattered right now. Finally a ticket from death. Standing right here.

Apparently trying to kill him, which dawned on him a moment later which made him take a step back and frown.

"Wait" If she where in motion she would stop in her track "You can talk?". This made things complicated "Damn" Maven muttered the curse to herself. Never mind that he was asking for help, but she had to figure out if he was malicious, evil and then if he would judge her for her appearence. She had after all thrown of her cloak and headpiece, revealing a hunters leather equippement beneath, and worse, her horn, which she tried to cover up like a normal female human would try to cover up their bust, when she found out that he was sentient.

Awkwardly backtracking to her cloak, carefull to never showing her back towards the target, while keeping her eyes on him and still trying to hide her most non human feature, the horns. He sounded evil "Why? Why do you need my blood?", now obviously he wasn't a vampire, at least not a normal one but she compared him with them, they would steal the lifeessence of all things living to extend their own.
