Physical Description Joseph is a deeply unconventional looking man. Luminous dark brown eyes are buried in bruised lids and deep sockets, paired with sharp cheekbones and large ears. He is very small, and his size is made up for with an explosive temper. Those who know him recognize the characteristic iron brace on one foot, owing to a severe clubfoot from birth. Because of this, Joseph cannot run, finds walking painful, and self-medicates constantly.

Personality

Joseph hides a soft, gentle and romantic soul behind an openly hostile exterior. His past traumas and ridiculed appearance mean that until someone gets to know him...he is thorny. Cutting, cruel, sardonic and self-destructive to a fault, Joseph is not an easy man to get to know.

Those who do will find a gemstone of a man underneath. Loyal, empathetic, and genuinely cares for others.

Magic/Abilities

Brag - Joseph is known for his unique ability to shapeshift. However, shifting is a bit like holding an object for an extended period of time. The longer he holds a form the more tired he is, ranging from minor tension headaches to not being able to be vertical at all.

Relationships Widower

Sexuality Bisexual

History

Joseph is a deeply conflicted man.

He was born on a horse farm called Blackmare, where his father and brothers raised prize racehorses and guard horses. Joseph is the youngest of six, and the target of severe abuse by his father along with Booker, a shy and severely autistic older brother. Their terrified existence under their father lasted until the age of twenty years, when their mother Elda killed Paul Meier Sr. She shattered his legs and threw him into a deep latrine, and since then the family has gotten on fairly well.

Joseph, however, still spurns his father's first name in favor of his middle name.

As he aged, Joseph made the mistake of saving a mage in distress. The mage was being interrogated by the church, and Joseph's quick thinking helped her escape. She returned his kindness by awakening Joseph's latent magic. Now, Joseph struggles with the stigma of magehood, and the possibility there may be a way to use his magic to help others.

He also seeks revenge on the witch, wherever she may be.
