It was mid day as Violet organized the herbs in the shop. She had recently hung some up to dry and they needed to be placed in their corresponding jars. Her long black hair formed a cloak behind her and her silver eyes glowed as she entered darker areas of her hut.

Her hut was cluttered with bobbles, dolls, necklaces, rings, swords, and jars of herbs. It may not look like it, but, Violet had a place for everything. cobwebs collected in the corners of the house and dust particles floated in the rays of sunlight that beamed from the skylight above the counter. The inside of the hut had a different appearance, looking small and rundown, but Violet had spelled the hut long ago so that it was much larger inside. Inside it was as large as a library and even had a second floor with a spiral stair case that lead to her bed room. The stair case banister was black and carved to look like vines twisting up the stairs.

Two crows perched on top of her hut. They appeared normal except for their glowing red eyes. They were preening their feathers, stopping every so often to gaze into the forest.

Violet stopped working and looked at her daylight ring. The jewel was a dark purple and shone every time she stepped into a ray of sunlight from a nearby window. She let out a silent thank you to the mage that had made it for her. With this, she was able to have a somewhat normal life in the daylight, not typical of other vampires.

Suddenly, one of the crows started to crow and the other took fight. Violet's gaze lifted from her task to her door. She calmly moved over to behind her shop counter and took a seat. She drummed her jeweled deep purple nails onto the wood of the counter as she awaited, what she hopped to be, a customer.
