Hael looked around and was glad he returned, even for a brief visit, to the forest. It was always way more peaceful to him than anything he ventured into. Lately he was having more and more fights, then again it didn't help that he started a couple of them. Bars just weren't the best place for him to visit no matter how thirsty he was.

Hearing the birds being quiet he knew something was up. He was always ready to draw his sword just in case. One could never tell just what was around the next bend. It could be anything ready to pounce or someone with another sword. He wasn't about to be taken by surprise if he could help it.

Staying behind a nearby tree he carefully glanced around it to see what might be coming his way. Once this worked when some bandits were walking toward their hideout. It didn't always work though.

"Halt! Who goes there?" He said trying to sound as gruff as possible.

((Don't know if you're still interested in this thread, but if you are--))

Ombre had been drifting through a forest today. Sometimes she would find something interesting and would bring it with her-- she had carried a beehive for an hour (it seemed that she liked the bees within) before growing bored with it and dumping it on the floor without a second thought. The bees had been furious, but she hadn't noticed. Next a very disgruntled male badger was lifted and carried up high into the trees before being set down by a pond. There seemed no method to her madness.

The animals didn't like her, but if she knew she didn't show it. Her pretty face (she wore her female form today) was as expressionless as ever, but it was clear that something was going on in her head. Though what could compel her to stuff mushrooms and a bright red pair of ladies undergarments into the hollow of a tree was anyone's guess.

It was as she floated through the woods that she heard a voice. She paused a moment, as though she needed time to process the sound of a human voice, before turning towards the source and passing clean through the tree that he hid behind. The Wraith stared at the man with fathomless eyes, but made no other move towards him. She was still and quiet, expression blank and completely without any trace of emotion. This was good though-- if she wasn't screeching then she probably found him interesting at the least.

Unfortunately, many reacted badly towards her despite any lack of aggression she displayed. Wraiths were hardly comforting sights.

((Always I was hoping someone would jump in here. :D))

Hael wasn't sure what to make of this encounter. He heard something moving around the forest even the animals seemed disgruntled. He managed to make sure he was nowhere near that dropped beehive. He knew better than to be stung if he didn't deserve it.

He was listening still to that around him hoping to figure out the cause of all of this. He didn't have to wait long before he found something new. Right through the tree almost next to him it came through. He jumped back ready to attack if necessary well he would have been if he hadn't tripped over a root landing on his backside.

"Who are you? What do you want?" He asked carefully getting to his feet again. He was keeping an eye on this being having never seen one before now. He'd heard of beings with the capability of flying through objects. It took him back though actually seeing it. Hael just wasn't sure if he should attack, watch, or figure out this being at all. He thought of ignoring it and moving onward with his travelings.

Minala had been following the wraith for hours. Minala knew the wraith had to know she was being followed, which made Minala almost jealous. Minala had been on leave after being on a rather extraneous stint of duty, so what did she do? Followed wraiths.

Her teeth clenched as she watched the man fall, a reaction mostly to help herself keep from laughing. It's what that no good piece of crap deserved, or at least, that is what she thought. She couldn't help but feel the envy build inside her. Why though did she feel jealous. Most would want to avoid things like wraiths. Minala didn't though. There was just something about them that drew her to them.

Minala leaned against a tree heavily, she was going to watch and see what happened. Maybe the man would offend the wraith and she would watch it tear the man apart. The though, how ever gruseome, seemed to amuse the soldier.

Ombre watched the man trip, face unreadable. She bobbed in the air gently, arms hanging limp and lacking any sort of body language. One might think she was ignoring him completely if it weren't for the way her eyes followed his face. When he fell she moved forward to maintain the same amount of distance between them, but came no closer. There was a long silence following his words and his climbing back to his feet, before Ombre slowly reached inside her robe, reaching for something--

-- before producing a small pouch containing a mouse, a cracked marble, and a recipe for custard. Without any sort of explanation, she gripped his wrist like lightning and dropped the bag into his hand. The mouse squeaked and leapt out, but Ombre either didn't notice or didn't care. She let go and drifted back through the tree; there was something else interesting here.

A woman had followed Ombre through the forest, and it was on her that the Wraith now rounded. She stared intently at the soldier, though why was anyone's guess. Perhaps she just wanted to find out why the mordecai had been tailing her for so long. Maybe she liked the woman's trousers. Really, how would you tell?

Minala let her head gently lean to the side as she stared at the wraith. This was the first good look at the being that Minala had had as of yet. The more she looked, the more interested she got. Finally though she ripped her gaze from the being, she feared if she stared any longer the being would become an obsession of hers.

Minala reached up, scratching the shaved part of her head, a nervous habit she had started. Would the wraith like her, she wondered how she picked the people she liked and the people she didn't. Was it just physical? Or could the spiritual being look inside people, see their soul? Minala  would hate what the wraith would see into her soul. As a person she was kind and caring, as a soldier though, well she followed her orders to a tee. As a soldier she had done some pretty unforgivable things, but well, she figured that sin was written upon the heads of the men who gave the orders.

Hael stared at the package in his hand. He was glad the mouse decided to go free, but he wasn't sure what to do with the rest of it. The being was no longer interested in him though. He noted that he wasn't alone with this being. Some female was around as well watching him, actually no he saw she was watching the creature that surprised him earlier.

He walked over to where this female stood while the being floating was just staying in one spot it seemed. He didn't turn his back on either not sure which would attack him first. He felt like a bear with his back trapped against a mountain wall. It wasn't a pleasant feeling.

"Who are you? What is that?" He asked not sure if the questions would offend either the lady or the floating being. He wanted answers.

Ombre floated closer to the female for a moment, studying her intently before a tiny little sound escaped her-- "Mmmrrrr!" rattled the Wraith, leaning her head to the side and scratching her head in a copy of the soldier before her. It seemed that the Wraith thought she was interesting at the least, and Ombre bobbed around the woman in a circle before looking back to the male who had spoken.

"Yoh yoh yoh," She floated nearer to the male. Perhaps she thought that she was mimicking his speech, perhaps it was a language of its own. "Yayaya! Reeeeeeerk!" Or perhaps she just thought that it was funny to make noises. There was no way to tell with Ombre, though as far as Wraiths went she seemed uncommonly sociable. An ordinary Wraith would either immediately attack or ignore humans altogether, but she seemed to find them amusing-- despite the lack of expression.

"I am Minala, a soldier," She started looking at the man with a well defined frown. She didn't like the way he spoke, you would think he would have some respect, she was even half tempted to challenge him to a duel.

"And she is a wraith, for a man who clearly spends so much time out in the wilderness you would think that you would know about your being," Minala continued, crossing her arms. The man was disappointing.

Hael noticed the way the being moved and spoke. He thought it strange, but then was glad when the woman spoke telling him what was going on. He had heard of wraiths but never seen one. He had been lucky that way.

"They don't normally come here so I wouldn't know. Do they always behave like this? Nice to meet you Minala," he said not realizing he had offended her. It wasn't something he was good at. He kept watching the wraith wondering if it was going to attack.

"What brings you here, Minala?"

The humans were interacting now, and Ombre turned her head slowly from one to the other. Sometimes she tried to mimic humans when they conversed or did other things with other humans; usually the only body language she displayed was when emulating something she had seen someone do once. "Ruhblblbl," She nodded sagely as though she thought that she was contributing to this conversation, continuing to drift around the male.

And then, without warning, she vanished. Pop! She was gone.

The Wraith reappered just as soon as she'd left, a rusty piece-of-junk dagger in her hand. She dumped it at Minala's feet-- the soldier had sharp cutting things, so she must like them, right?-- before continuing to float around the pair, burbling quietly to herself. Sometimes she could appear like some odd mix of cat, parrot, and magpie-- if the whole lot had been dropped its head as a baby multiple times.

"I'm a soldier in Connloath," Minalla answered the man simply. She was rarely long winded, and usually was a straight to the point type of person. When you were a soldier that is how you had to be. There were no time outs in battle so you could speak for twenty minutes to make sure everyone knew the game plan.

Minala bent down and picked up the dagger and examined it. It was far beyond repair and was useless. Still though she examined it, everything was worth giving a good look at least once. Then her attention went back to the wraith. She was rather amusing.

Hael listened to the wraith wondering what language it was speaking. He was fascinated by the fact they couldn't talk like he could. He knew animals talked differently, but this was even more different than that.

One second it was there the next gone. He hadn't expected the wraith to just disappear like that. He had a feeling there were many times when he would be jumpy around something new. He sighed when she popped back in dropping the old weapon at Minalla's feet.

"Well that explains where you are from and your occupation. What are you doing here? Raiding something?" He asked not sure he liked conversing with the solider. She was way too rigid and couldn't be any fun.
