The Soot Wolves had been a part of the underbelly of Arca for a few hundred years. They had never had the near total control they now boasted since the current Red Wolf had taken the reigns. The connections and alliances he had made, brought more strength and intelligence to the guild than most of the lower ranked members could comprehend. Tonight, the detail that shadowed, and secretly protected Owl, the pet project of Canis Rufus, caught early sight of the grey man and had sent word quickly to the nearest Shadow runner. The guild, surprisingly, had no intel on the giant of a man. That was never good, but that didn't stop them from observing, and bringing out a specialist to analyze what they could from afar. The news delivered of his possible capabilities were terrifying. There was no way Owl could handle the man, there was no way the Soot Wolves could deal with him. He fell into the category of avoidance and deterrence.
It was not long after they spotted the brute, that news reached them of the hunters on his trail. That could possibly work in their favor. The Wolves would shadow, observe, gather intel on Azariah Lynch and the Esoteric Order of Salem while they were here in Arca, but would not interfere unless they caused undo trouble. It was always nice when someone from outside the Soot Wolves contained trouble. It left them in a more profitable position. Having members of The Esoteric Order of Salem around would finally give the Soot Wolves an opportunity to get more in depth information about their tactics and such. When Vaultus Eryth stepped onto the scene, the Wolves were a bit apprehensive. As a major player in the mage world, and a land owner of Serendipity, he was well known to them. He was powerful, and it seemed he was going to protect Owl, if she'd let him. It looked like it would be best that they simply watch for now, but their force was quickly growing. Without many big jobs around with Rufus out of town, the Night Wolves were quickly circling the city to make sure the area was free of any passerby. No need to have some innocent dope getting caught in the middle of what was likely to be a madening battle in Arca. So soon after the Mountain Cat brawl, it was best to minimize witnesses.
As a group of Night Wolves came across Jarrett, they bled into the shadows, but when they realized who it was they split into two groups. One circled to make sure the street remained clear, the other dashed out to the assassin and started picking up the corpses, tossing them back in the cart. One of the Wolves pulled out a rolled parchment and handed it to L'isson. It was a contract for an assassination that Rufus had asked be delivered to the man before he had left. The assassin didn't have to complete the task, but Rufus liked to spread out his options.
