Title: A Hole
Post by: Anonymous on June 07, 2005, 07:17:58 PM
Fuh the Burr, Ambassador to the Burrs, was on his way to the Above-Ground.  He was using a small tunnel that the Burrs had just dug to reach the Surface.  They had never before had contact with any of the surface dwellers, and Fuh was their first attempt at any communication with them.

It was dark in the tunnel, the Burrs had exceptional night vision due to their life underground, and Fuh was quite bored with the treck.  "We never should have even sent anyone to go up, if the Above-Grounder's wanted to know who was down here, then they could come to Us, really, we did dig a two mile tunnel that seemingly goes nowhere, somebody's curiosity would eventually get the better of them."

He sighed, exasperated with the whole ordeal.  He shouldn't complain, however, he had been chosen to do this and had accepted, idiot.  Being the best elemental mage that they had, he was the obvious choice.  He had decided that he would make the most of his journey though, his alterior motive was to create an amazing book that logged and categorized the creatures of the Above-Ground.

But . . . what was this???

run...

running...

must keep running...have to keep running....

running....

run...

It was like a song, the never ending song that once it is inside it will never go away. The words pounded with each step, emphasizing each syllable, each sound, each letter. No matter how hard the little wolf ran, the haunting lyrics followed.

run...keep running...don't stop running...

why?

With that singal question everything in the mind seem to stop. The wolf froze. Then  in slow motion, the wolf  misplace it footing, tripping over her self, causing to land nose first in the cold earth and rolling over. There as she panted, another song enter in.

why...why...why.....

"why the heck am i on the ground?" interrupted the first human thought of the night as the wolf's panic slowly receded from her mind. "Why am i on the ground...I am on the ground because I tripped...I trip because I was running...I was running because I turn into the wolf..." then the wolf made a very human like groan, and picked her self up. There the wolf started to jog. " Blasted mage....why did he had to curse me...why?" The wolf gave a yawp and started to run againg, this time keeping her self calm. "Stupid man, why couldn't he at least curse me into a full grown wolf?" the wolf bearly notice the what was around and didnt notice the hole that was ten feet away; as the song of why stared to once again pound in her head. The miniature wolf started to sprint again with each syllable, with each sound, with each hole?

oh no...not again...

the small wolf again landed on her nose  and started to tumble over her self gaining speed, untill...

 Wham

she landed on something her size and very soft....

*hey duckie, i hope i didnt write too much. :D  sorry for any mispell words and all

((OOC:  YOU have NO idea how hard I'm laughing right now.  And you misspelled misspelled, but the length is good, gives me somethin' to work with  Don't worry, I forgive you  :P . Anyways . . . ))

After the initial shock of being bowled over by something large and very furry, Fuh had time to panic.

"Aaah ! ! !  What are you doing?!  What are you doing!  Get off!  Get off!  Get off!  What are you?  Don't eat me, I'll blow you up and turn your insides into mush ! ! !" all the while he was trying to scramble away from whatever was on top of him.  There was something wet near his ear and a thin, rod-like thing was smacking his legs . . . since the creature was not already gnawing on him, a few questions raced through his mind . . .  'What is this creature that is on my chest and what does it want with me?  What is that wet thing?  What category is it in my book?  What's the title of my book . . . no . . . don't think about that now!  Is it trying to torture me by smacking my legs?  What are the rest of the Burrs gonna think if I never come back and they only find my bones in this be-damned tunnel?'

The last question was the one that did it, the big thing that he had to accomplish durring his life was being a good ambassador for his people, and that meant staying alive.  So, he did the only thing that he could think of doing.

He concentrated on the earth around them and cried "Agmen Nath Capuri !" Unfortunately, the spell worked and a sink-hole opened up around them and they were falling and falling and falling and falling . . . . . .

The small wolf was so happy that she landed on somethng soft this time that she didn't notice what she was laying on top of. She gave a small bark of relief, not realizing that her tongue was out, her tail was beating maddly or that very soft something was screaming it's head off.

I am alive....was the main thought as the wolf beat her tail even more. I am alive I am alive

I am alive i am live i am ali.....

"Agmen Nath Capuri !"

"what the heck was that?" the human shouted in the wolf mind. She looked down, bearly register something furry and feline as the earth suddenly disapper. The little wolf gave a small yawp in surprise while trying to jump off the small furry thing before she fell into another hole again. But  gravity took her toll and both the furry think and the little wolf was free falling into pitch blackness.

They kept falling, and falling into eternal darkness and what seem forever was maybe seconds when the human mind of the wolf had enough of her canine's foolishness and decied to take over. In a blink of the eye, the very small wolf turn into a very small human.

Then the human turn her head to her now very small, falling, company and shouted "Can you do any more magic?"

*(ooc: just to let you know it is 2:08am...yepp i think I finally found another way to become sleep deprive...I don't know if i should sue you yet 8) )))))**sorry so short but the dictionary ran out of words  *

"This is not good . . . when you create a sink hole, think where you put it!  Now you're falling with an unknown creature, which is quite interesting in fact . . . but that's beside the point!  Still . . ." a delirous look came over his face, his ears, which were normally up and perky above his head, were flattened behind him, he was slightly smiling, and his eye kept twitching every now and then, "Oh yes, you'd be perfect for Fuh's Bestiary of the Above-Ground!  Your entry would say:  Using the Burr standard measurement (three feet per Burr), the creature stands at roughly one and two thirds Burr. The nature of the creature is not terribly hostile, it's main tactic is first to bowl over it's prey, then beat it to death with one end of it's body as it moistens prey with the other end.  It's finishing blow was foiled by your's truly, however it seems to change it's shape before devouring prey.  Brilliant!"

It took him a while to register the creatures question and his manic state receeded slightly.

The creature speaks!  It knows of Magic!  It insults the Ambassador of the Burr!  "Of course I can do more magic!  I'm not a child!  The true question is why should I do any magic to help you, you changeling of doom!  I know you could smell Burr, and you wanted to be the first to have a taste in thousands of years, didn't you!  Well, that's not gonna happen, I've made sure of that.  Of course, now were both in the same perilous situation . . . how do I know that you won't try and eat me, you've already attacked, how do I know that you won't finish me off???"

Charlie stared at the small rabbit thing, waiting for it do something other then smile insainly and have its eye twitch at her.

Then it started to shout, about it being a burr and that it could do magic; only to shout about being in the same perilous situation and her eating it. All Charlie could think of was "What the hell is he talking about?!?". Both the burr and her was going to die because of his stupid sink hole trick and he won't even do magic to save him self. She just stared at the burr in unbelief.

Then she growed, "If I wanted to eat you don't you think that i would have at least waited for you to come out of the first hole? " She shifted her glance down, noticing that the bottom of the hole was coming upon them very fast.

"CRAP!" Her mind scream and on instinct, she grab the little burr, holding him close, not caring  how he would react.

"This is going to hurt."  she wince and wilth the rest of her powers she push the air down below her; hoping to at least slow their fall.

But her powers being weak from the instance change wasn't working, the air kept coming up faster and faster.  With  reflects like a feline, she twisted her self so that she would land on her feet, causing the least amout of damage to her self, and watch as the ground steady came closer. With another slurg of power she once again pushed the air below.

"come on, come ON....."she mutter out loud, draining almost the last ounce of her power.

"This is not WORKING" a very hysterical howl came out of her mouth.

Then with a BANG they froze about ten feet in the air.

She nearly cried in relief and the wolf in her mind was yappy happly.

"Ok, now to get us down....." she sighed. She stared at the ground for a couple of seconds.

" Ummmm Mister Burr, I think we are stuck" with that statement she blacked out.

[OOC: hmmmmmmm let see what Mister Burr is going to do now that I save his big bunny butt  :P enjoy getting us out of this mess 8) }[/b]

"Oh, oh, oh, this is veryvery bad, we . . . she, oh no, she saved me.  We're alive!  And she saved us!  How am I ever going to repay her?  I suppose get us down should be the first thing, as you suggested.  Hello?  Are you alive?  Helloooooo! . . . Oh well," Fuh said.

He couldn't believe that she saved him.  And it was a she, somehow he could tell.  How could something that had knocked him down and then sat on him to perform a strange ritual, commit such an act of bravery and selflessness for a meal?  Maybe she wanted him fresh . . . but somehow that didn't seem quite accurate, considering what she said about the hole and the fact that she had called him a Mister.  The Mister quite redeemed her in his eyes, in fact.  Nothing like common courtesy to endear you to a complete stranger.  That and he was a complete sap for the courageous.  A beautiful act deserved a beautiful reward, and there he decided to reward her with his impeccable company.

"Falla Gash!" he called.  A wind swept around them carrying tiny motes of white light with it.  The lights swirrled and got stuck to the couple and then slowly dissolved the spell holding them up.  A warm updraft greatly slowed their decent to the mound of earth beneath them.  It seemed that they were in a cavern, a fairly large one in which the dirt from the sink-hole had piled.  As they touched down, the dirt swirled and the darkness settled in.

Fuh thought of home and how much he already missed it.  His brother and the rest of the Burr had so much hope in him, that he would introduce them into the enormous world of sky, sun, moon, stars, day and night.  "Illimus."  A glimmer of white light appeared near his head.  He used his ears to motion it upward, then spread them apart to expand the light's intensity and area of effect.  This was the extent of the light that the Burrs had.  A mediocre immitation of the great Sun.  He hadn't even made it to the surface to experience the spectacle.

His little friend seemed to be breathing alright and she looked peaceful enough.  He knelt next to her and tried to shake her gently awake.

A loan moan came out of Charlie's mouth.  She felt if she fell out ot the world's tallest tree and on to a pile of rocks. The pain was most intense in her head and figure tips

"What happen?" she thought to her self as she struggle to open her eyes. An empty blank mind answerd.

"Little wolf?" charlie mumble. As much as she hated what the mage had done to her, she couldn't help feel a little lost as a part of her mind was uncharacteristically slient.

"LIttle Wolf" she mumble louder, eyes still close, she searched her mind to find her furry company. "Little Wolf come here now," she commmanded. She was rewarded with a quick bark and felt little wolf in her mind.

"There you are girl," Charlie smiled at the wolf, something that she never did before. Making sure that her wolf was ok, she checked her magic. She sigh in relief, as the warmth trickle into her. Never did she had used so much at a time or used so much power. A fear that was  drill into her when she ment up with her mage master,  that she could lose her magic if she put to much power into something was slowly drifting off.

"Ok now to get us down," she quickly open her eyes to see a bright light above her. Her face became perplexed as she stared up at the light. Then she looked around, searching  the ground that she thought she would be above, like the light.

"how...." she turned to see a small creature looking at her. Burr is what he had called himself.  He said that he could do magic,  did he get us down?

She stared at the creature a bit more and notice that is was only couple ot inches shorter,  a bit more actual, with long rabbit ears and a very cat like face.  Once again her confusion grew and showed on her face, but the need to figure things grew so she asked  the question that was dying to get out.

"Did you get us down?"

OOC: is uncharacteristically a word?   Becasue if it is, it is the longest I ever used.   :P

"Yes.  I did.  You asked me to, so I did.  And please call me Fuh, I am of the Burr race that has lived deep in the earth for countless years.  I was supposed to be the Burr Ambassador, but considering that I never reached the Above-Ground, that dosen't seem likely to happen.  We were going to rise from the earth, our glorious return to the Sun and the Stars; and I've dashed their hopes and dreams.  If they never hear from me they might never resurface." he sat on a mound of dirt, looking depressed with his ears bowed to either side of his head.  (like this upside down -->        _o_   )

"Enough about me, are you alright?" he said, quickly glancing at her to see if she had any injuries.  "I've decided that since it was my fault that you almost died, that I'll have to repay you in any way that I can.  For now that is to accompany you for as long as you wish, offering my services and assistance.  You saved both our lives; a noble and honorable act, especially because you saved the life of a stranger." an inquisitive gleam flashed over his features, "Now, if you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you?"

OOC: Yes uncharacteristically is a word.  Try copying your entry into Microsoft Word and using spell check before you send it off, that might help with the spelling and stuff. And by the way, every time I read what you write, I laugh out loud and my mother looks at me like I'm crazy.  All I tell her is that it's you and she says, "Well that explains it."

The quick speed at what the Burr talked made Charlie's already spinning head spin faster.

"What I am ?" Charlie caught the question and asked herself, still processing alll the information that the Burr told her, or, she corrected, Fuh told her. A slight pause hang in the air and after a quick consideration on what she is, in a low voice she told him.

"Well I am human,  but was a mage apprentice, till that fool of a master decied it would be great fun to put an annoying wolf pup into my brian. So I quess you can call me something of a metamorphosis...but I doubt if that is politically correct....." Charlie bamble on. A sharp bark in her head made her wince, stoping the talking. Dang, that wolf. Then sighing outloud she again ponder on what Fuh told.

"I don't know about noble and all, but I quess I have to take you on, I mean," Charlie looked around at the blackness at the edge of the light. " There isn't much choice, " but then she quickly added, not wanting to offend her now, new, other, furry, companion, " but your help was greatly appericated and still is."  she gave him a little grin and once again looked around. Then slowly she got up, making sure she wasn't too weak to walk and looked down on Fuh.

"Mister Fuh,  you are not dead so your plan about going to the above-ground isn't foil yet. So we might as well try to figure a way out of this place but first I need to summon something."

Then Charlie close her eyes. With tiny bit of magic she clap her hands together only to pulled them part with a medium size brown pouch in her grasp. She quickly looked into it making sure she had everything and put the starp around her head and on her sholder, making the pouch rest close to her hips.

"Time to get out to this hell-hole.....any ideas?"

[OOC: I was writing you a message in responds to your ooc but it kinda got to long so i just pm you. tell your mom hi  and  tell her its my life goal to make you laugh at the computer becasue then it just make you look as insain as I am ]

"Well I know what we can't do, and that's go back up." he said, "So, the other option we have is explore where we are and hope that it goes somewhere."

"Before we do however, I'd like to put something here so no one dies because of my foolishness."  Fuh gestured up with his hand above them at the gaping hole in the ceiling.

"Lariet!" he comanded.  The light dimmed and a warm wind whirled about them.  Fuh stretched his hand upward and a stream of deep red followed the updraft.  The blood broke into many smaller streams and those broke off into an infinite number of smaller ones that filled the air and danced in the wind.  Fuh's robe billowed as the spell set into the area beneath the hole,  creating a wind that would slow most of what might fall.

Fuh looked to the girl and gave her a smile.  Looking around at the cave and it's possible escape routes made his face fall once more.  There were three exits, not counting the open maw in the ceiling.  To the left there was a hole near the ground about two feet in diameter.  Behind them there was a much larger tunnel, however it was about seven feet off the ground and sloped upwards from what Fuh could see.  The last exit was one that Fuh was the most worried about.  It was fifteen feet from where they were and to the left of the left-hand tunnel/crawl space.  It was also nothing more than a large hole in the ground that led to who knows where.  'What are we going to do about this?' he thought.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on June 15, 2005, 08:25:20 PM
Charlie stood in awe at the power that the little Burr produce but shook her self out of the little daze.

She then looked around and noted the three exits. “Hmmm what shall we do now, she wonder. She looked longing at the ceiling above. Wishing with all her might that they could go up. But wishes don’t come true just standing still. She knew the powers of float but she was too weak; an even at full power, she would be only able to lift either her or the burr. Then she went into her mind and thought of what would wolf would do. Instincts told her to find water, for water is something they would need to survive. Her mind told her that water would lead upwards. Same with air, find a draft and the air would lead them up.

She then thought about the choices logically. She had so far fallen into two holes and didn’t really want to fall into another, just look at where falling into holes bought her. There is the tunnel that was seven feet above them, if only height wasn’t the factor; that would be their best bet. Seeing how it is, that seem to be out of the question…unless…. She would keep that idea on the drawing board. She glance at the hole number two; if hole number one didn’t looked good, hole number two wouldn’t look pretty either. Especially since it looks even more forbidding.

“Here is an idea, let stay far, far, away from hole number one and two, and try to get up tunnel since it is going up. I can put you on my shoulder and see if you can reach the ledge, or I can throw you up there....that would also work, Charlie just cheekily grin at Fuh, waiting for his responds.

Chardonnay groaned and crossed his arms, clawing his hands into his black robe. He hated patrols, the time between them almost seemed to evaporate and they were so tedious. Always the same tunnels and the same nothingness, unless something happened. Which usually, didn't. Not that he wanted anything to happen... the only person he would want to be in the tunnels with if a hostile showed up was Syrah, who wasn't here at the moment.

Well... if he had to choose between the rest of the group he would have chosen Zinfandel, at least she could hold her own in a fight. She wasn't as good as Syrah but she was still handy, if a bit creepy. Come to think of it, both the adult women in the Insurrection were creepy. Zinfandel looked the nightmare of mages that lurked in most of Connlaoth's mind: tall and wraithly pale, with long silver hair that almost floated around her, mad eyes that shifted constantly between light brown and green and a host of terrible monsters at her beck and call.

One such creature, a lizardlike thing she called Grey the War-lizard, marched ahead of her now, stopping every few seconds to lash the air with its black tongue. The thing was longer than he was tall and had a row of spikes from the tip of its nose to the end of the thickest part of its tail. It gave Chardonnay the creeps, and that one, according to Zinfandel, was the weakest.

After one tongue-flicking Grey made a deep rumbling noise in its throat and turned its head around to look back at them. Chardonnay flinched and saw Zinfandel stop and look over her own shoulder at him. "Grey's scented something," she said boredly.

"What?"

Zinfandel shrugged. "Something, we'll have to find out what. Onward Grey, take us to it."

Grey continued down the tunnel, both mages walking after it. After ten or so feet Zinfandel stopped suddenly and sniffed the air. Chardonnay slowed down when she stopped, looking up the trail at Grey and then at Zinfandel. "Zin?"

"Can you smell it?" She tilted her head up a bit, sniffing again.

"Smell what?" Chardonnay sniffed.

"The air is fresher here, we aren't close to the surface."

Chardonnay sniffed again and his eyes widened. The smell here did seem a bit different, he'd gotten used to breathing the air in the catacombs. "Soldiers?"

"No, we would have heard an explosion, felt it at the very least."

"Is there a hole to the surface near here?"

"You've been down here more often then I..."

Chardonnay scowled, not liking the reminder of just how many times he went out on patrol. It wasn't fair, just because he was a Healer didn't mean he had to go with everybody that moved two feet away from their base. "I don't think there is."

"Ah, we need to keep moving then, or we'll lose Grey," Zinfandel trotted after her creature, who'd stopped before it got out of eyesight.

Chardonnay groaned and ran after Zinfandel, following them straight to a dead end. He looked questioningly at Zinfandel, who summoned Grey back to the bracelet she wore around the arm that would have connected to her missing right hand.

"There," she pointed.

Chardonnay followed her pointing hand. There, about seven feet down from the tunnel they were standing in was a girl and a creature that looked like a rabbit. He perked his eyebrows and leaned forward, reaching up to brush a few locks of green hair away from his silver eyes.

"Watch yourself... Chardonnay!!"

Chardonnay cursed, feeling himself lean too far forward through some odd factor and go tumbling off the ledge. He hit the ground hard on his left shoulder and went rolling another foot or so before coming to a halt. Ouch... he felt sore all over and laid where he was, waiting to see which parts would numb down. Zinfandel could handle the duo if they were hostile...

Charlie didn’t hear what the burr’s reply if there was even a response to it because just before their eyes something fell out of the tunnel above them and plop into to the ground and rolled towards them.

Either out of fear or protectiveness, the wolf in her suddenly leaped out and she was change in an instance. Little wolf’s magic didn’t seem to be affect by her mistress power surge and seem to even grew as the thoughts to protect and serve penetrate through her mind.

She must protected her master, must protect the other creature.

But little wolf sense that his magic was strong, and could hold his own.

Must protect master, must protect “companion.

That is what her human had called it.

The hairs on the back of the miniature wolf rose and she her lips were draw back to show off her very small and sharp canine teeth. A low warning rumble inside her and she shift her body towards the Burr. If the creature were hostile it would have to go through her first…. but the mind of the human took control once again.

“Down little wolf, down, a voice called in Little Wolf’s mind. Little wolf tried to ignore it
but the voice was stronger and took control.

And once again Charlie was back, struggling to keep the wolf at bay, to keep the blackness away; a compromise was form and the wolf was able to stay in the back, giving some of her powers to Charlie; helping her stand against the nausea that the human felt during the instance changes.

In what was seconds, Charlie was back and stood, waiting for all of hell to break loose.

OCC: that will work :D welcome, nightcandle to this wacky adventure

'Oh, god!  This whole changing business scares me more than anything that little guy could conjure up, that gal has some serious issues with her other half.' Fuh thought.

Still, his ears were directing the light toward the commotion, "Eviz!" and his hands were readying a small lightning to stun whatever it was that had unceremoniously stumbled into the cavern.

"What are you, and why did you fall?  Is that a safety mechanism that you use to confuse prey and enemies into thinking that you are idiotic and harmless while really you are luring them closer so you may make good your first strike!  Do you even have ears to hear me or do you pick up vibrations from the ground and air that give away your prey's position?  Have I just made a grave mistake by speaking?  Can you change shape too, I bet it’s something hideous and demonic!" the idea almost seemed to excite him even more, the words simply flying out of his mouth.

Then he glanced up and saw the woman and the lizard thing, "Aha!  You have an accomplice!  And It has an accomplice!  What a gold mine!  If I could just get an interview before we're eaten, I'd like to jot down a few things and leave them for my book that I'll get my brother to finish for me, such a shame that I won't be there to see it's debut but, anything for the good of the Burr Bestiary! . . .  No.  No, no, no, no, no, please excuse me, I'm getting too excited," and indeed, his long ears were quivering with the anticipation, "I have already caused a large amount of needless trouble by jumping to heinous conclusions, in case you haven't noticed the ceiling." he glanced up, "Am I going too fast?  Let me try a different approach.  Mie-yuh. nay-yum. izzz. Fuuuh.  Who arrre yoooooou?"

((Yay! I love wackiness, wackiness is fun.))

Growling... not good. Questions... not good, but better. Maybe. No. Not good, they were starting to make his head hurt more than the fall did. Chardonnay groaned, staying completely still.

Zinfandel cocked her head to the side, watching the duo. The girl turning into a wolf and the rabbit creature's lightning bolt caught her interest. She wouldn't make herself known yet, it was best they didn't see her so she could observe them. If Chardonnay was alive she'd know in a moment. He was in no danger he couldn't help himself. From what she was watching now at the very least.

She froze when the rabbit creature looked up at her and babbled on, her eyes widening when she mentioned an accomplice. She unsummoned Grey, could this creature see the ripple he left in reality? Fascinating. She took a handful of feathers from a belt of pouches at her waist, tossed them in the air and spun in them. Her hair and the hem of her robe seemed to be suspended in mid-twirl, slowly moving back down to their natural lying position. After the spin she stepped off the edge of the tunnel and drifted down, her body swaying side to side as she fell.

"Greetings Fuh, young miss," she said once she was on the ground. "I am Zin, this was Chardonnay," she nudged the green-haired boy's hip with a toe, getting a groan out of him. "Is Chardonnay. We mean you no harm."

Chardonnay peeled his face off the ground, lying on his palms. Nothing felt broken, he was just sore from the tumble and would be black and blue for a few days.

Charlie just stared at the two in front of her.  At least the wolf inside was kept bay at the simple words from Zin. So many questions rushed inside her mind but Charlie wasn't quite sure she could trust them as she trusted Fuh, maybe because falling into holes with
a stranger and uncertian death come up at you literally can make you trust anyone.  She then shrugged  to her self and thought she should interduce herself.

"My name is Charlie, and I apolgies for Little Wolf, we both aren't used to sharing the same mind," again she shrugged and gave a smalll grin. Then she looked down at Chardonnay and frown, while thinking that falling was sure the way to get around here, wherever this place is.

"Do you need anything, 'cause I have some herbs for any pained and such" she grabbed for her pouch and stared to look for things that might help for such a fall that he tooked.
She puased and looked at Zin.

"By the way, what are you guys, I dont't think I have ever seen the likes of you before," she asked thnking might as well to clear somethings up and went look for those herbs.

The lightning spell that he had ready, he dropped in to the dirt by his side where it fizzeled and went out.  The light that he had shining above all of their heads receeded a bit to a soft glow that broke into two, each being controlled by a different ear, and each floating over a different party.

"Well, well, greetings Miss. Zin and Chardonnay." Fuh gave them a deep bow, then turned his head from the ground to look directly at them, his head going back at a sickening angle.

"Fuh the Burr at your service.  Ambassador to the Burr people that live deep in the confines of this world," he straightened up with pride, then wilted, his long ears drooping to the sides of his head.  "Well actually, I have not done a very good job in fulfilling that position, never actually made it to the Above-Ground, you see.  I was actually bowled over by Charlie here and created a sink-hole and we fell and she saved us and I got her down and now we're pretty much, uh, here."

His gaze had fallen to the crumbled dirt at his feet, which he gave a small kick of defeat.  The spell that he had set into the area spun it up and into his face, and he sputtered from trying to take in a breath at the same instant it flew at him.

Zinfandel tilted her head to the side when the young woman offered two names. Did she have a split personality? She heard something about that back on her old village, of course it was explained there as a sign of the curse of magic. She took a step back when Fuh's magic kicked up the little dust cloud.

Chardonnay looked a bit bewildered when Charlie offered him some medicine. "No thanks I'll be-oof," Chardonnay groaned a bit, as he was trying to push himself back up on his knees while talking. "I think I'll take some."

Zin scowled at Chardonnay and ran her hand through her hair. "I wouldn't bother with the surface world Fuh. They're all insane up there, show one lick of magic and they'll put you in irons. They hate the cursed, which we are, with a bitter passion and can't tell the difference between us and normal magic us-."

"Because there is no difference," Chardonnay sneered. "Don't listen to her, she's not right in the head."

Charlie sneeze at the dust ball and looked up sharply as ZIn noted the difference between a crused and normal magic, thinking about her past; as a mage apprentice. There was some towns that even her master wouldn't dare go because of his magic.

"I don't think any of us are truly right in the head," she smirked, thinking about little wolf, Fuh and the crused that surrounded her now and her sick twisted master that cursed her.

Then Charlie just shrugged her sholder and bent down her head to find what she was looking for. It was a herb with no named and rare enough that a person would have to be  told what and where it was to find it. Her master showed her the cave where they grew one or two plants  and then made her grin each root to a fine black powder. She took her pouch and pored some into a liquid in her pouch.  She then walked towards Chardonnay and kneel down beside him.

"Here drink this, it will helps with the pain to vanish quickly." She handed him the vile; then looked up at ZIn," What makes you guys crused if there is no difference?" while wondering about her crused.

(( I noticed that I haven't explained Fuh's feet, so just think of them as something like rabbit feet, long and narrow, but there is no hopping involved.))

"Yes, please explain the circumstances, they seem veryvery intriguing, if you don't mind." he asked of Zin.

"Oh, and what are irons?  Never heard of them myself, don't they have something to do with flattening, or maybe vegetables, hmmm . . . oh well.  As I was saying,   Cursed?  With magic?  In the Burr city everyone is born with a small bit of magic.  Only those who want to learn it, do; the others, just forget and it fades away.  I am an Elementalist, as you may well have been able to tell.  Lightning, Air and Earth come easiest to me, as well as a light spell that my brother taught me.  Fire I find too fickle, Water too wet," he gave a little shudder at this, "And if I may ask one more question, what did happen to that, uh, creature . . ."

Fuh glanced at the hole that they had come from and it was disturbingly empty.  A creature of that size could probably eat him very quickly.  Then again, he thought, there are probably a great deal of creatures that could eat him, or any Burr, from the Above-Ground.  Should he listen to Zin and forget about the Above-Ground altogether?  If everyone is insane up there, then those that live below must be the sane ones.  Perhaps the Sun is the cause of this!  Yes, that would explain why the Burr left to live where there is no Sun.  Still, why would the Council send an Ambassador to the Above-Ground, if the Sun is the cause that sent the Burr away?  Nothing made any sense!

((Okie dokie. Sorry it took me so godawful long to reply, I've been bu-sy ^_^;; ))

"I'm not insane," Chardonnay muttered. He took the vial, and after sniffing it, put it to his lips and drank it down in one gulp. At first he thought it was willow, but it wasn't woodsy enough and whatever was added mixed cleanly with the liquid. No bits of ground plant matter or anything. Chardonnay's eyes widened and he raised an eyebrow. Perhaps it was magical? Chardonnay was thinking so hard about it that he didn't notice the soreness fading from his limbs.

Zinfandel grinned with Charlie and Fuh urged her to talk more about the cursed. It was so nice to find people that would understand. But, before that... she might as well explain what happened to Grey, mentioning him after explaining about the curse would make it seem trivial. "My servant Grey has gone back to his own place. He exsists and doesn't exsist." Zinfandel grinned wider, eager to start explaining just what they were.

Chardonnay frowned. Trying to stop her now would be like stopping a thunderstorm, without any weather magic.

"We," she gestured to herself and Chardonnay. "Would have been normal humans without the curse. The curse never lets you think you're normal, no, never," she shook her head for emphasis. "From the cradle you feel odd, different. You can all but feel it creeping through your blood like a sickness, a sickness you can't cure. There's no bottling it up either, it'll come out. It's always different, a flash of fire, a strong wind inside a house, a broken limb suddenly healed, a flick of a hand calling a monster from nothing," she gestured with her own hand, sweeping it up dramatically.

"If a normal person sees you, then the soldiers come and everybody dies, everybody but the ones that bring the soldiers. The soldiers bring the irons, oh the irons, they have nothing to do with making something flat or with vegetables. They're like bracelets," she held out of her arms. "and they go around your wrists. They've got a short chain connected to each one so you can barely move your arms. Sometimes they put them on your ankles too, if they don't have a lot of people to capture. You, Fuh, are so very lucky to have been born where the curse is accepted. What about you Charlie? Do you have a mother out there crying tears of joy because her strange little girl won't be threatening the entire village?"

Charlie thought about what Zin had asked. She just shook her head.

"I don't think my mother even remember she had daughter," Charlie grin. " i have been gone from home so long, but my mother doesn't even know she has a strange little girl. I didn't even know i had magic untill i travel about the world looking for something, found it in my hands and made a small living doing magic tricks untill a mage took intrest and taught me a few things." Charlie than stooded up and started to pace, thinking over what Zin had said, " I am too cruse, but in a different way, my once a upon of master put a wolf pup to share my mind and still i haven't took control yet, so my little wolf comes out at the oddest time," then she trun around and stared at Zin." you said soldiers comes and put the crused ones in chains and every one dies but them,  who is every one and do you know who the soldiers are?"

Fuh was riveted by the tale and the last example, he deduced, was Zin's own tale.  But her description of the cursed and what it was to feel cursed seemed to be exactly what he had always felt.  He could feel the magic in his blood even now, though it was easier than usual because it was now infused with the air in this cavern.  As long as his blood flowed the enchantment would be here.  A magic like that was a proud undertaking that proved skill in magic and daring in infusing the spell with it's caster's blood.  The magical accomplishment seemed like something that the soldiers would put him in irons for, the way that Zin described it.  It seemed horrible; most of his people would be put in these irons if soldiers found them.  There was a pressing question that Fuh just had to ask her though.

"Do these irons c-cut off your hands?"  He couldn't imagine what it was like to be without an appendage; but Zin managed it, and perhaps those irons were the cause of her angst about the curse.  Whatever the reason, he couldn't help but be curious as to where irons would fall in the catalog that he was going to create.  They didn't sound like creatures, or some kind of plant or anything.  There was only ONE way to solve this!  A MISCELLANEOUS section!

Fuh's eye's began to stare off into space as he bacme enraptured in his own thoughts and he began to mumble quietly, "Ah, yes . . . hmmm, table of contents . . . and then an intro . . . blow them away . . . danger and bravery . . . a tale of . . . yes, Fuh the . . ."

"PICTURES ! ! !" he burst, startling himself out of the reverie, "Oh . . . is it time to go somewhere?  Why's everyone staring . . . "

Chardonnay folded his legs underneath him and rested his hands in the open space between them. Damn Zinfandel, filling their brains up with ghost stories and getting them all riled up. If Syrah were here he'd tell them what was really going on. Hmph, Syrah was leader of this little circus, he should be able to control this maniac. Maybe he should stop her and tell them the truths in this matter. Syrah would appreciate that, he was really too important to worry about all this small-

That rabbit man just blurted out pictures, didn't he? Chardonnay stared openly.

Zinfandel started at Fuh's outburst, having previously occupied herself with thinking about how to put a wolf pup in someone's head, it sounded like an interesting experiment. Her hair flared up around her head like a cobra's hood.

Opportunity? Looked like the best he'd get. If he waited Zin would start talking and she'd get angry at him for interrupting her. "Zinfandel, keep quiet," Chardonnay said calmly.

Zinfandel's eyes narrowed. She bit her bottom lip and crossed her arms, all but shooting daggers at Chardonnay. Her foot thumped irritably and she looked away from him.

Chardonnay ignored her. "Forgive Zin, she was born 'outside'. When the soldiers, they live in the kingdom above our heads, find a magic user, not a cursed I'll tell you why that's wrong in a moment, they usually get rid of them and anyone thought to be sympathetic. Maybe that's how it happened when Zin got captured, but it's not how it happens all the time."

Zinfandel's pale face turned bright red and she began to pace, angrily slamming her feet against the ground.

Chardonnay continued: "Irons aren't really dangerous by themselves, they're just little metal bands that keep you from moving your limbs too far away from each other. Zin lost her hand because she was tortured, she lost her mind too apparently. That happens alot to mages that were born 'outside' - we Connlaothian magic users call the people that don't use magic that. Zin probably grew up hearing about how magic was a curse, she's adapted fairly well though. Most of them commit suicide or turn themselves in," Chardonnay shrugged. "They're dead either way."

Charlie stared turn sharply towards Fuh at his loud outburst of Pictures. She just raised an eyebrow at him but her glaze soon trun to Chardonnay as he started to talk about the chains and soldiers again and what was wrong with Zin and magic.

Not really knowing what to say to that, she turn and started to pace with Zin.  Thinking over what Chardonnay had said her mind once again was filled with questions, but something in the air change and stopped charlie in her tracks. She turn to one of the holes in this cavern and crept towards it but not getting to close. She really didn't want to a repeat of falling into holes. She sniffed the air like a wolf would do, as Litlle Wolf became alert. While trying to process the smell it faded  as if it was whisk away but the tension in her grew.

" I don't think we are alone anymore," she growed,  and tooked out her knife that lay hidded in her boot while keeping a tight leashed on little wolf, not knowing if she would have enough magic to change if needed to.

OOC: any ideas what charlie is smelling?

"Thral Eviz," Fuh whispered under his breath.

He held out his hand and eyed the hole Charlie was staring at.  Cracking lightnings crept down his arm and congealed into a ball as his ears directed the light over Charlie and him to the hole; where it entered and dissapeared.

The light turned a corner, it's glow still visible on the wall.

A pulse of brilliance echoed the demise of the light and the hole receeded into darkness.

"I think we need to leave,"  He called to the rest without taking his eyes from the hole.  A rummble reverberated through the earth beneath them.  Something either very large or very powerful was on it's way to make a meal of them.  "Chardonnay, Zin, what is that?  And will it not like lightining?"

He began to back up toward the tunnel that the two had just come from.  His previous airheadedness gone, replaced with concentrated resolve.  Fuh's ears quivered with anticipation and fear of the unknown entity.

"Saggets" he said softly, invoking more electricity and a slight wind that ruffled his robe, which was soon crawling with sparks.  Fuh could do a powerful amount of magic, but even he had his limits.  The protection of his friends was of the utmost importance though, and he would gladly reach those limits for them.

Both mages looked towards Charlie when she went for the dagger in her boot, their eyes trailing to the hole once they saw that it was what drew her attention.

Zinfandel all but pounced on Chardonnay and began flapping her hand around wildly. Chardonnay, who was half expecting something like that, but half hoping it wasn't going to happen squeaked; trying not to scream outright and draw the whatever's attention up to them.

Then he realized he could have screamed his head off. Fuh sent a ball of lightning sizzling down into the hole and soon after it dissapeared there was a loud rumble. Not good, not good at all.

"You can talk now ZInfandel," Chardonnay paled and scrambled back a foot.

Zinfandel grinned widely and stood up, her eyes locking onto the hole. "I don't know, but I might soon."

"Z-Zin, I don't think that'll be a good idea," Chardonnay mumbled, looking back at Fuh and Charlie. Why couldn't she be sane like them and know when something was a threat?

"Have you forgotten our duty Chardonnay?" Zinfandel pulled the boy to his feet by his shoulders and looked to Fuh and Charlie. "It's our duty to make sure these catacombs are fairly safe."

Chardonnay hmph-ed and took a step back. "You're just trying to see if you can capture it."

Zinfandel's grin became a smirk. She glided over to Chardonnay and put a finger on his lips. "If you don't go with me I'll tell Syrah that you've been avoiding your duty."

Chardonnay's face turned dark red. How could she? This had revenge written all over it! Just because he used her little 'true name' foolishness to get her to shut up! He made a grumbling sound and gave Fuh and Charlie an apologetic look. He wasn't quite sure what he was looking sorry for, but it felt like a good thing to do.

Zinfandel's smirked turned back into a grin. She grabbed onto Chardonnay's wrist and looked at Fuh and Charlie. "Well met. We'll see each other again, perhaps."

And with that, she dragged Chardonnay to the hole and both leapt down it.

((Sorry, I've gotta pull these two out of this thread. I'll be leaving for a little eternity soon ^^;; there's more info in my sig.))

“Ummmm, what just happen here? Charlie asked out loud.

She listen as the creature that was going to  come out of the hole soon trun around and disappear as well as the barely heard sound of feet chasing after it, whatever that thing was.

Charlie just couldn’t quite comprehend what had happen. One minuet, Zin and Chardonnay was there, and the next they jump in to the hole, with rushed goodbyes and was gone.

“WELL, this is just dandy,â€? Charlie smirked and started to pace again. Brooding over the disappearance of the two very people that could of led out of here wouldn’t help the situation anymore. If Fuh and Charlie were thinking correctly; they should have asked ZIn  where they were at and the way out, but the need to introduce each other got in the way. Now, here they were, back to square one. Only this time, at least they known some of the dangers here, beware of solider and unseen big creatures, gotcha. She stopped pacing and turn to her furry companion. “Well, any others idea?â€?

"Well well well, I think that we should head that way," Fuh says, pointing in the direction of the hole that Chardonnay fell out of, "they talked as though there were other people here, somewhere or why else would they be making these 'Catacombs' safe?"

What an interesting word:  ka-ta-kome.  Well, it is a mystery to be solved another day I suppose, for now we need a way out and, since I cannot reverse a sinkhole, it looks like we're going up there.  Zid did say that that thingy was gone, it looked hungry, hmmm . . . . Ahhhh!  No time No time No time ! ! !

"Come on Charlie!  Langlic Callow!" the words rang throughout the cave and to Fuh they became solid and tangible, magic transfiguring and manipulating the immediate world around them to obey the Elementalist.  Wind whipped around and around, picking up the loose dirt, rock, girl and Burr and hurling it up into the cave above.  Fuh was spun violently into one side of the tunnel entrance, while Charlie was blown further down into the dark depths.  The glowing light that had lit the SinkHole Cave was extinguished as Fuh lost conciousness, but not before he witnessed the small section of the cave floor they had just been on top of crumble and fall away into darkness.  Hope you're OK Chardonnay and Zinfandel.

Why is it, that very time this very, small, furry, magical, creature moves them, she blacks out? was the very first thought that enter into Charlie's mind as she came too. After that burst of magic that sent them into the tunnel above, she was thrown agaist the wall where she banged her head and blacked out. She open up her eyes to see a lump of something a couple of feet in front of her. She blinked and then stared at that lump, for she could of sworn it just twitch. Then realization hit her and she could make the outline of the Burr with twitiching ears. She groan, when she tried to crawl over to him, knowing if she got up, she would just land in the same spot again; most likly in the same postion. Her head hurt, her chest was sore, her back ache, and so did her legs, etc. But she kept on crawing to Fuh, because deep down inside she knew that if he wasn't ok it would pained her. At this moment though, she wouldn't mind if he was a little hurt, for a sharp pain went through her chest as she breath heavly.

What tooked forever, was just minuets, with one last effort she was able to crawl and rest her head agaist his small little chest. Good, he was breathing deeply. She rolled on her back and lifted her one of her hands and with little thought of light, a small ball appeared and glowed brightly, making a circle of light around them. She set the ball next to her and went through her pouch. There, she brought out a small bag, open it and flung tiny gold particles in his feline-like face. He should wake in mere seconds or at most, in minuets, and while she waited, she would used him as a pilliow. It was the least he could do since he was the one who gave her this head ache.

OOC: It's ache honey.

Fuh was deep.  It was far from the surface.

Glittering rain.  Now the surface is just within reach.  It seems to happen in slow motion, his hand slowly breaches the surface.  And then he's awake, staring at a soft glow from above him.

There’s a slight pressure on his chest and he lifts his head to find Charlie there, fast asleep.

Ah, well what to do now?  That was a bumpy landing by the way, ought to remember not to give it so much power next time.  This woman seems to need a great deal of rest every so often . . . I suppose that I should wait for her to wake up, but we need a bit more light to better asses the situation.

"Illimus Danae Meli Charlie" He said.

The link between magic and motion is Fuh's domain.  The motions of sound waves, hand signals, and thoughts (because, does thought not move?) are his specialties.  Therefore, Fuh is able to tune in to the actions of others and the motion that is their magic, once it is in effect.  He is an Elementalist, but he is also a Burr a feline bumbler, the clumsiness and the intelligence all rolled into a little package.

So, when he said the words, he said them in tune, so to speak, with Charlie's work to create a billowing strand of light that swirled and spun throught the tunnel and back into the cave where they had just been.

At the sudden burst of light, Charlie woke up with a start, not knowing that she felled asleep on Fuh’s belly. He was a very comfortable pillow. She glances up at him to see that he was a wake. “Well, at least we are somewhere else, then. She mumbles. She also notices that after the short little naps that all of her aches were gone. She frown a little, thinking that very since Little wolf had joined her, she seem to heal quickly. She shrugged it off and then notice that her stomach was rumbling. Without moving her head, she dug in her pack and found some salted jerky and a flat piece of bread with a small jug of water. She then turn and looked into Fuh’s eyes, “Well, I don’t know if you eat meat or not, but that’s all I have got, except for some flat bread. Hey what do you Burrs eat? then, thinking on that question, she started again, “Between falling into holes and strangers we haven't really talked about our past so tell me something about your Burr kind. Then took a big bite in her jerky as she waited for his answer.

Fuh looked sadly at Charlie as he registered her question.  The problem with that question was that he didn't trust the answers anymore.  What could he tell her?  Or what couldn't he tell her?  Trust, to Fuh was never a big issue, and now he questioned it intensely.

"You see Charlie," he said, deciding then to retain his usuall stance on everything, "The Burr have lied to me.  And for a very long time I have been blinded, because I believed them.  We are ruled by a Council that decides the important decisions, the decisions that most Burr don't even give a second glance.  A new tunnel here, maintenance on that tunnel there, greenhouses on the lower levels, upkeep on the water system now and then, blahblahblah.  OK?  Right.  They also keep The Records.  Public documents that cite achievements and events of the Burr society since the first council was created.  It also cites the Render.

"The Burr, long ago, when the Sun and the Moon still shed their light on our actions, helped in the creation of a spell to create a darkness over the world that would halt a race of creatures fuled by light.  They were called the Sammeneth.  It was a cheap escape, but one of the only options available to them at the time.  It was a slaughter of a whole race of beings.  The Sammeneth were a race of conquerers that would have disrupted the Burr community, so the council decided that the world was better off without them.  Half of the twelve Council died in the creation of the spell that only lasted thirty-six hours, but it was enough to starve the Sammeneth into annihilation.  This feat saved and doomed the Burr at the same time.

"The other races led a crusade against the Burr, one, for their mighty and terrible spell, that caused death in many other ways to may other beings, and two, for destroying a race of other entities.  They hunted us and slaughtered as we slaughtered, destroyed as we destroyed; forcing us to flee, an option we never gave the the Sammeneth.

"And no one else knows.  Ever since, we have lived alone, far far away and cut-off.  The Above-Ground has become a place of unatainable beauty, a heaven, if you will, to Burr.  Not one other Burr has ever gone to the records and read the true story.  They eat what the council feeds them, though the truth hides in plain sight.  The Council changed the story, and those that once knew the true tale have long since passed."
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on August 10, 2005, 07:55:41 PM
"I believed it too.  I believed everything that they said because I never knew any better.  I always thought that the species of the Above-Ground banished us because they hated how proficient we were at magic.  I believed that the Above-Grounder's had hated us so much that they had begun hunting us, killing as may as they could because of their envy.

"Every so often the Council expalin the unusual occurence here and there on an attack from the Above-Grounders and their continual malice.  The cave collapse that killed my father was deemed an unexpected breach into one of the tunnels by a mage on a suicide mission.

"I don't believe it.  A few weeks ago my brother Huf and I stumbled into the Records hall and I decided that I would see how far back the records really went.  There was always an ongoing argument as to how far back they really went, so I decided to get some proof.  That's when I stumbled on the Render.  That wasn't before Huf got caught keeping guard for me and, though I never mentioned that I had found the Render, from that day on, members of the Council had begun to visit and inquire about us.  I thought that the title of Ambassador to the Burr was a great honor at the time, but that was before I realized the truths that I had read in the Render and what they revealed about the nature of the Council.

"Do you see what I am talking about now?" he finished

(OCC: me want monkey...monkey soute!!! ME WANT IT!....ok on the the show...story...thingy....)

Charlie had been snaking on her beef jerky as she listened to Fuh’s sad tale of his homeland. She didn’t want to interrupt because who knows when Fuh and her would ever have a chance to just to sit and talk. When Fuh finished and asked her question. She pause her chewing to stop and think about it. Then Gulp…she swallow her now deteriorated piece of meat and answered.

“So, your people are under the control of the government because they made a mistake of out casting them self under ground and no one knows the truth except for you, and to get rid of you they made you ambassador and sent you to your doom in the “Above-World…huh…. so are you going to do anything about it? I mean you know the truth, you know that the government is corrupt…you know no one else knows the truth. Accepted for maybe the government and your brother. You have so many choices, Fuh. I wonder what are you going to do now? Go up to the sun and moon, to stay or bring back news? Or go up to bring proof of a better home and truth, or now you can go down and start a revolution.

A wolfish gleam glowed in Charlie eyes. All the possibility was endless. A part of Charlie’s mind had been taking a nap but now was stirred at the smell of an adventure. The wolf in her was restless, it wanted to hunt, whether for the truth or for deer, she wanted to move. She needed to move. The dark place was not like the dark caves that she once knew of her home. This place, what ever it is, held a movement that caused the fur off of Her back to rise up. It was time to move, in words, in movement, and in thinking, it was time to move.

With that,  the thought lingering in her mind it became a beat, beating slowly and steady like that os a sleeping babe at first; before it stared to picked up speed and raced in her mind. Making Charlie dizzy and sick, making her to break out in a cold sweet, with teeth chattering and her head buring up, Charlie started into Fuh eyes before a transformation of her becoming into something greater happen.
Charlie then twist and trun, her figure becoming something that wasnt human but neither wolf, with a fingures here and a tail there; the two spieces seem to fighting each for control and in secs the battle ot Human and Animal was soon over. The Wolf won and instead a minture wolf, there standing was a wolf of silver and lanky with height over Fuh now. It wasnt quiet a full grown but it wasnt a pup either. Stuck in between the two, her golden eyes glowed with  arrogance of the young and yet experiance and power.
In a very low voice, that seem wispered as if it didn't need to be speak any louder, the she-wolf spoke.

"Do not be alarm, Fuh of the Burrs, I am still Charlie's wolf but a warining and power needed to come out. Fuh from the underground, it is time to move, time to move in actions and movements. You must chose, and quickly, for now Charlie is in your fate for she will learn a lot from you, but it is time to move,  for something is coming in this darkness and we must go.  Chose and move, it is time to go." and there the proud she-wolf stood, waitng for the Burr.

"Charlie?" Fuh questioned, but there in the she-wolf's eye's a reassuring flicker of the small girl's.

"Uh, alright.  Well, I was going to create Fuh's Fabulous Beasts of the Above-Ground and then go from there . . .  I . . . I just, I need to see it.  I need to see the Above-Ground, please," Fuh could no longer hide the desperation from his voice, nor from himself.

He looked down, then back into the eyes of the wolf and there lay his answer.  A fierce resolve and defiance stared back at the silver-haired beauty.  A look that said "Let's go."

Fuh had come to believe so whole-heartedly on what he was taught that he still didn't want to believe the truths that lay ahead, and those that he had already discovered.  He had to have proof.  That the Above-Ground was a place of sanctuary from the lies of the Burr Council seemed so much to hope for.  Hope, however, was all that he had and all that he could keep.  It had to be enough.

The She-wolf smiled as a wolf only can, and again she spoke,

“Good chose, Fuh of the Burrs. We will go to the above world, but a warning, there is some truth in the council about the above world being a dangerous place, it is for all things that lived up there, strength and courage will be your best weapons and if you have those, you will survive. Come, the dark is stirring and it will soon consume us if we do not hurry.

With that the She-wolf turned and keeping a hard pace, they went into the darkness with only the light of hope and courage to lead their way.

Without even stopping to even sniff the air, the she-wolf knew where she was going. This place was magical, a haven for those who wished to hide, and so the walls hummed with magic, the ceiling, even their path whispered of spells. Even those who resigned here did not know this, or feel its power. The magic coved itself in the darkness and only those who seek it out will feel its power. The She-wolf sought any magic; it was in train in her mind, to aid the human she must protect, at all cost.

So with twist and turns, going up hill and down hill the She-wolf lead the to the very heart of the catacombs, for that is what the walls told her, the deepest and darkest part. It was the only way out with out being seen of the mages and others. The heart sent out a warning to all creatures that dare enter here, and all creatures had left, not knowing why, for it was the heart of where the magic that laid and wants not to be disturbed. But it has been disturbed and the warning came a hundred times full and the She-wolf knew must go in for this is what made her hair raised up, made her want to move, move out of the darkness. It was now her own, personal demon. She turns to the Burr.

“Oh small mighty one, here are real adventure begins, are true test of strength before we enter the above ground. Prepare your self, here lies a creature I must defeat and you must help aid me. I will protect you at all cost and when I say run, you must run until you fly out. The time to move is running still, but now it is time to stand and defend comes now. Hop on my back, and we will ride together and conquer together.

OOC:  Unfortunately I think she'd be proud too.  Did you have to bring her up?

Fuh raced along behind the-wolf-that-was-Charlie, keeping pace with her well.  As they ran faster the Burr's body leaned foreward, his ears flattened back, and his head turned up at that sickening angle as his feet pushed off the ground beneath.

Fuh felt the warning in the very marrow of his being, an extreme magical urge to leave immediately, to turn around and never return by his own will.  The wolf however didn't even slow at the warning, and neither would Fuh, his life would depend on her, he knew.

[Then they were there.  A place of magic so thick that you could taste it on the air and feel it between your fingers, a snap could create a spark, but a call to the power could invoke an inferno.  At the wolf's request he scrambled up her side and placed himself on top, upright, with ears at attention.  He could feel her power from such close contact, as mighty and terrible as anything that he could call up himself, only she seemed to be a source of strength, almost an avatar of something too powerful for this plane.]

It was here too.  Something that he had never encountered, never sensed, and never would have believed if he hadn't felt it for himself.

OOC:  You can edit out anything in brackets, I'm not sure exactly where we're going, so I didn't really know how to describe it, or you for that matter.  OK?  So pm me and I'll do whatever you ask.

When her little furry creature hopped on her back, the She-wolf took running into the darkness of the unknown.

The creature that sleeps in the heart of the catacombs felt something prickling in the back of it’s mind and slowly woke up. It didn’t know what just had entered its lair and was not too happy to be awake. It groaned, a loud deafening noise that shook the walls and floor causing other dark creatures to stir. It stretches its feline-like limbs and stood; almost hitting the ceiling whipping it’s tail back and froth. For a creature so large and powerful, it didn’t make a sound as it liquid-like stagger cross to what the annoyance of the tiny company that was coming its way would meet at. It blended with the darkness for the darkness had a depth that covered its pitch-black body well. Creating an illusion that it was the darkness. It stood in the middle of the heart and waited.

The She-wolf felt the creature stirring as it had felt her coming. They were like the side of coin, that had been flipped in the air and landed spinning, fighting for dominance. Each represented the opposite of the other. But what was being represented was lost over time for both were neither good nor evil, black or white, love or hate. Both had shades of gray in their veins, and the battles from generations and generations back in their blood. It was the fate in their bloods that had nothing to do with the personage more than it had to do with the soul. It was time to meet, it was time to fight, and it was to test the greater for the weaker would be destroy. It is time for what their ancestors started for them  to finished. It was time to right a wrong.

Both creatures scented each other and both raised their defenses up. Just before the she would greet the creature of the night; she stopped and turned her head to the small companion that straddle her back. “Can you spell the sweet acid in the air? That is the only clue we are near it. I must warn you, it does not fear fire and fire is it powers, but water is it weakness, I can not tell you how I know, I just do, it is time.

The blackness shook and the creature pounce.

((OOC:Hey, do you remember the book Abhorsen, where Mogget is the cat thing and if you take off his collar he turns into a free-magic creature that is really one of the nine bright shiners??  Well anyway I was thinking that sounds a bunch like what we have here so maybe instead you could do something like that with the cat thing in the heart!! lol cause that's what Charlie needs another personality to share a body with!!))

Fuh didn't know what it was about the creature, but he could sense an aura in the air that gave him a personal qualm with it.  It had been here messing things up for ages and now was the time to stop it.  That was it plain and simple, it created a surrounding for itself instead of adjusting to it's environment and thus had off-set a balance in this place.  It's time to party kitty cat!

"Hax tathel karith!"

The spell took it's hold on reality.  Charlie began to run towards the creature.  The disturbed air that they had just traveled through crackled with tiny bits of lightning.  Sparks crept through their whiskers and between Fuh's ears.  A charge built up behind the two advancing figures, soon they were trailing a blinding arc of fierce energy.

The light showed them the vast cavern and their foe.  The ceiling was very high up, dome-shaped and dark.  An enormous panther with a group of dark shapes flanking it was heading straight for them.  They were outnumbered, by a whole lot and the cat's advancing shadow seemed to leak across the walls crushing the light of the building energy.  A roar shook it's way to them backed with a terrible power that sent a jumble of sparks skittering into the air around them.

"Hi!" Fuh's command bit into the air.

The jet of lightning scorched it's way through their bodies and to the cat, consuming the energy that was thick on the air as it went.  A horse-like figure sprang to the fore and took the blast full force.  It bit through the creature like a hot knife through butter, with a roar the horse-thing exploded into ash.  The weakened bolt smacked the panther, but did no more than irritate it.

There were still five creatures that followed the cat and no more light, Fuh had to trust Little Wolf to keep them alive while he got another spell prepared.
