To be sent in the days following the Grand Ball...
Dear Lord Arrant:
I am writing to ask you to reconsider your position on Church expansion. After you spoke, I asked to speak with GrandDuke. We spoke about you and Church policies, which seemed, I believe, not a matter to which you take exception. Together, me and Calent seriously considered your will. Should you continue on in pressing this, I hope you and all, if there is any, supporters well reply.
Cordially yours,
Duke Audric Molneux
Begrudgingly- it was sent back with this reply:
Lord Duke Monleux,
I understand you're seeking support with the church. But my reply must be delayed. Perhaps letters won't do justice when a simple meeting could suffice. Perhaps during my next trip to the capital will be earlier than expected. My wife does wish to travel more. Though I wonder if it might be more fitting for her to come out to some fresh air in Allar? Though the seasons are changing. I'm not sure how well she'll fair on travel so long. But we can keep in touch so long as replies remain brief.
Sincerely,
Lord Arrant
Sent shortly after Audric receives previous letter...
Lord Arrant,
Thank you for your recent reply to my letter regarding the Church. To understand what my point is, I welcome your response, by letter and then even in person. Coded, as I did formerly warn you, by etiquette, forget not we are, me and you, colleagues. And even through the reading and writing this letter, I ask you write, a common courtesy, to notify by reply your intent.
Sincerely,
Duke Molneux
Duke Monlneux,
In short, I wonder if a personal trip to Allar might suffice.
Lord Arrant
Lord Arrant,
That is short. Is this to be a formal visit?
Duke Molneux
To the duke:
The visit will be short. Expect my arrival within the week.
Lord Arrant
Written, then crumpled up and thrown in the waste basket
Lord Arrant,
Planning. Planning is good. Are we meeting at the lodge, or are you...
Well, I suppose we'll never know, because you won't get this message before you leave Castavar, will you? Why am I still writing?
