Physical and Historical Description
About average height for a Connlaothian, he stands with broad shoulders and a well muscled body from over a decade of training in the Grand Duke's army. His eyes are a crystal blue and his hair a bright blonde that, when it gets long enough, it becomes a mop of curls. He has a regal look to him and a strong jaw with a beak like nose. His brows sit low, casting shadows over his eyes, which are large and always seem calculating. Cullen is always seen with a smile, no matter the situation, and had risen in rank quickly to Captain of the Guard in Uthlyn.
However, after seeing too many horrors of the war take place behind closed doors in the capital cities, he eventually found himself having a breakdown, and slaughtering the men who were torturing a family (the women and children and even the elderly!) for rebel mage information. Once cut down, Cullen realized his act was treason, and that he'd hang. In fact, he believed he should, but first...
He helped get that family to safety, fully intended to turn himself in. But throughout this journey....
Much had changed, and soon James Cullen found himself the leader of a band of rebels who dared strike the very heart of Connlaoth, while the entire country side of Connlaoth continued to rage on with war.
Personality
Prone to quick boughts of humor, Cullen is an honest man who believes in doing the right thing- which is what lead him from changing sides in his homeland's civil war. He's very tactical, and is known for his sense of humor, which, if asked, he might tell you he does so to make the hard pill of war easier to swallow. He dreams of a peaceful time in his country, but dreads he'll never see the day.
Magic/Abilities
Not a mage by any means, he is considered to be one anyway, just due to the fact he's siding with those opposing the government. The only true skills he harnesses are his swordsmanship and ability to lead
Relationships and history
His family, the Cullens, were of lower ranking nobility living in Reajh, but eventually having moved to Uthlyn when James was about 10. His father had left around this time to go off to war, so his mother and he moved in with his Aunt on the other side of Uthlyn, near the Tower. His mother realized she was pregnant a few months after her husband went to war, but she died soon after giving birth because of complications, and her child, a daughter, died just weeks after she.
Cullen was adopted into the family with his Aunt soon after word of his father's death. Then when Cullen was of age, he joined the army. He was only thirteen. But they allowed him to help with menial things until he was old enough, and ready enough, with a sword.
His main relations now are the men that serve with him in what was created as a blood oath brother hood known as the Blood Wardens. He is an active leader there, but not the only one- though certainly he's the more prominent figure due to his antagonizing of the former Mordecai Grand Master (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=19751.msg265228#msg265228). His evasion of the law and riling up of the Grand Master is quickly growing him some fame, and a hefty price on his head. Either way, he took a blood oath and he's in it for life-
To protect the realm, to protect the people, to keep honor and to make this war come to an end.
