Also, I'm planning on doing a serious of Goldswith Tales, involving the parents and relatives of my character, Rena Goldswith (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=22810.0). Rena's parents and uncle are dead in present times. Do I need to make profiles for them, since they will be central characters in these tales?

But I can answer your second question! Making profiles isn't required. You do as you please, so if you feel the need to, you can ^^

Welcome to the site. Your topic has now been relocated easy peasy! As for your question HK answered it perfectly. The parents would be considered NJCs or non joined characters and don't require profiles unless you want them to. If you have any other questions just give a shout.
