Taiyou cried in surprise as Athran pulled her by the fire.
"O-okay," she replied, a little shaken.
The girl couldn't help but to smile as Athran attended to her dragon.
He's so nice, she thought, admiring the elf. IT was rare to find a knight that fully embodied the entirety of the code. Of course, there were always the men who acted courteous around women... Still, Taiyou was deeply grateful for his help. She made a face at the bag of food. Despite her pain, she was hungry.
But it's so far...
The girl took a deep breath and carefully moved over towards the bag. She found a loaf of bread and broke it in half. She didn't want him to think she was greedy. What sort of thanks was that?
Shioko grunted in response to Athran. His eyes met Taiyou's.
Are you alright little one?
I'm alright, she reassured him with a small smile, wincing a little.
At least she'd live.
Taiyou arched her brow listening to Athren speak to Maigrod.
"Ripped to pieces? Thirty?" she said, giggling. She looked at Shioko fondly.
"That one burned me the moment he got out of his shell," she explained.
"I was seven, not yet a student."
The girl winced again. Talking too much hurt too, apparently.
Taiyou took a sullen bite of bread as she eyed the kittens with deep suspicion.
Tell a secret in front of them and they'll give it away.
She told herself she was being paranoid. After all, she still had that mission to carry out.
She examined her cursed arm, the curse seemingly like a tattoo.
I want it to go away, she thought stubbornly.
It was just then that she noticed something was up with the kittens.
"Oh, my gosh," she squeaked, scooting a little back.
"Why is that one glowing? And the other... "
They're older than the forest, Shioko told her.
That's so, so creepy, she thought, resolving to keep her distance.
Shioko chuckled.
Scared of kittens?
Taiyou scowled.
A warrior's not afraid of kittens! Just... They're weird.
"Are you returning from a mission, too?" she asked Athren, her green eyes still focused on the cats. She had a hand on her staff if they tried anything.
She didn't want to reveal the nature of hers if she had to. Especially not in front of cats!
She was unware of the stone vibrating in Shioko's saddlebag.
