Instead of making chase after his sister, he just let her go. There was a heaviness in the air long after she left, long after the room had settled into the cold, silent darkness. And it took every ounce of him not to shake with the rage and anger broiling inside him. They didn't understand. Neither of them did. He did this in order to protect them. He had already hurt them more than they could realize, even if some of his mistake was announced by their 'goddess' through the fading memories of their mother. But he was stubborn, and he was proud- and he felt it was his duty to do this alone. Perhaps when they were younger, he would have been more than happy to bring the family together in on this, but times were much more dangerous, and their lives depended on the out come. He did not wish to bring them down with him lest he failed again.
Even if he knew his sister was right.
ANd it was to the throne room he disappeared, where he bowed before his father and mother's portrait, arm across his breast, and head bowed in reflection, as he contemplated through fervent prayer on what he was to do next.
