Another scheme, another windfall.

Dram could only hope this wasn't another one of Seranth's bad ideas that he'd have to bail him out of yet again.  Like always, the Dark Elf just had to prepare for everything and anything.  He would not go against the wishes of the King Hawk, but it was his duty to protect him, and to advise him, even if the young bandit would only listen to reason half the time.

Dram waited in the brances of the massive maple tree, watching the road.  The drop would be coming soon, or so Seranth had told him.  From the sound of it, he had it pretty well thought out.  The caravan would be coming around the bend in approximately fifteen, maybe twenty, minutes.  There were three carriages, the cargo was in the middle, guards to the front and to the back.  The plan was to hit them quick and hit them hard.

The traps were set up ahead, two trees set to snap and fall, blocking their path.  Next would be to confuse the guards, knock them out, disorient them.  The misty conditions of this early morning raid were perfect for such a feat.  And a couple of smoke spores wouldn't hurt either.  Then he and Seranth would swoop in, haul as much cargo as they could and disappear into the trees, flying off into the distance.

It was simpel, easy, routine.  What could go wrong?  If it all went down without a hitch, they'd easily get away with quite a windfall.  Well, that was the plan anyway.

"I'm not so sure about this, Seranth," Dram admitted, looking grim as always.  "How can you be so sure the cargo is as valuable as you say?  These better not be some ancient artifacts or that kind of bullshit!"

-"Ey have some faith Dram, I got the info from a good source..."

Seranth said as he removed the straw from his mouth that he had been chewing on for the time they had been waiting for the caravan, he then looked to the side though and tried to look as innocent he could as he smiled a bit.

-"And there's gonna be gold an jewels there too..."

He said a bit silently as he averted his gaze from Dram since he could read Seranth like an open book. Thruth is that he had gotten the info from a good source and all but his main target were one specific item that supposedly should be on the caravan, but even if it was not on the caravan it would still be filled with treasures so Seranth were not lying that much.

"I have faith," Dram muttered, still looking bitter as he watched the road.  "But it doesn't seem like you always think things through.  You can't just jump through the fire and expect not to get burned.  Your mother should have taught you that.  I made her a promise.  This better be worth it.  If not, I'm kicking your ass when we get back to base!"

He gave the young King Hawk with a look to show that he meant every word he said and reached out a hand and patted him hard on the shoulder.  "All right then, listen, the wagon wheels are approaching!  Quick go get to your post on the other side of the road.  Remember, when the second carriage is in view, we both swoop across on ropes and get in, get the treasure, and get out!  We throw out the smoke spores just in case the guards are more than we can handle.  Got it?  Good!  Go!"  He shoved Seranth to take his place and braced himself in the tree, holding the rope in his hands though his palms were sweating.

He took a deep breath, hearing the wheels draw ever closer.  The first carriage was coming around the bend.  Just a few seconds now.  He could only hope it all went off without a hitch.

-"Yeah i ge-woah!"

Seranth did not have time to reply before Dram shoved him and he listened to Dram something the Red Hawk was alone in. Seranth did not take any orders from the other Hawks but Dram were different in that regad because Seranth deeply respected him. Seranth gave a smile as he took a great leap over to the other side of the road onto a tree, He hid himself in the leaves and took hold of the rope that were positioned there.

-"..."

He steeled his gut as he looked down the road to see the carriage come into wiew and he almost stood up in suprise when he saw the sheer size of the thing, it were almost twice the size of a normal carriage and also surrounded by armored guards, no they were knights. Seranth's mouth hung open as he looked at the carriage and it's guards.

-"That looks royal.."

He said to himself quietly as he gripped tighter on his rope and cursing himself that he should have brought some, heck all of his men. This looked like it could become a real pain in the ass not like the easy dance on flower that Seranth had imagined.

Lion

"..pain in the ass," Dram hissed as he saw the armored knights escorting alongside the carriage as it came around the bend.  Good gods!  He knew things could only get worse from here!  No, no!  Don't think like that Dram, he scolded himself, knowing his nerves would only get the best of him if he kept considering the consequences of what happened if they killed these poor fools and whatever "precious" cargo they were escorting down this path.  These better be some extra valuable jewels!

Besides knights relied on their armor to protect them from heavy assault, but what Dram and Seranth were about to do, they were going to be fast, faster than they would know what hit them.  Knights were slower and clunky and could easily be disoriented in their own helmets if you know how to move fast enough.  And Dram knew they'd have to rely on speed if anything else to get through this.  Maybe if they hit them fast enough, they'd think there were more people here than there really were, and that'd put the odds even more in their favor.

But the carriage was soon coming closer and Dram kept his eyes focused on the plan.  Stick to the plan, stick to it and you'll be fine!  Or so he told himself.  "Three banana, two banana, one banana," Dram muttered, counting when suddenly the carriage positioned itself perfectly and the first trap was activated.

Dram heard the light snap of the line and there was a sudden lurching leering through the trees.  The timing couldn't have been more expertly executed as the large tree snapped and blocked off their path.  The horses reeled up and neighed wildly just when the second line was snapped and the second tree abruptly snapped and kept them from backing out.  The knights were immediately alarmed, but Dram couldn't back out now when he had pulled three smoke spores from his belt a lit the fuses and threw them in the air.  When they exploded, there was a loud clay clattering sound as all three spores exploded mid-air and sent puffs of smoke everywhere on his side of the road.  And with that he swung from the vine.

He could only hope Seranth had kept the timing and was doing the same.
