Okay so I got this idea from my friend. I (or someone else) will give a year and a situation and you must write a post as one of your characters living in that time. (As their current age and such). A new situation can be made after two IC posts. A situation must always begin with the year.

The year is 2666, physical contact of any kind has been outlawed. Reproduction is monitored and contoled by the government, violators of this law are publicly executed. Hug dealers are among the wealthiest people in the world if the can live long enough. Shady people passionately embrace in the night or hold hands in darkened streets.

(Btw. Posts can be in response to others. Just be prepared if someone changes the situation)

There is a legend in certain cities. The Shapeshifter, the Shadow. Whispers, both in awe and fear, of a figure that slipped from shadow to shadow as easy as you please, an elite Hug Dealer and thief extraordinaire. An unusual being, for she would hug you herself in all forms, though the price varied, depending on how interesting your jewelary and wallet were. Sometimes in the darkness of the allyways one could see her. A woman, a child. Sometimes neither. Needless to say, it was near impossible for the police to track her down. At least, that's how Maar figured it.
And that's just the way I like it, she thought with a giddy smile as she walked down the street. She walked down the street in the form of a woman with a black pixie cut, though her keen blue eyes remained the same.

Oh, it was so easy to make money off of these desperate fools, she thought as she pulled the hood of her tunic over her head and adjusted the scarf in front of her face. The rain only made the smell of iron sharper to the fae and she hated it so. Her boots clickd against the pavement as she ever so nearly brushed shoulders with the people by her, causing chills down her spine. It was so silly, too, to watch them try to avoid each other, practically running in awkward circles. She would have very much enjoyed too have caused a scandel and to just accidently run into somebody, but such fun would have to wait. Maar had an appointment to make.

She crossed the busy streets to enter a book store. It was small, a vintage place, two stories high and stuffed.  Maar tugged free her scarf and took in a deep breath of air. True, dusty, but better smelling than the foul streets. She leaned against the counter, and smiled devishly to the girl behind the counter. She was younger than Maar had expected, eighteen, perhaps nineteen. The woman fumbled with the books in her arms at the sight of Maar.
"O-oh," she said, fretfully. "Is that you?"
Maar nodded, and looked around. There was nobody. She held out her hand.
"Money first."
The girl was hesitant, but nodded and handed over a crisp bill. Maar's eyes sparkled as she took it.
"Ready?" she asked. The girl nodded.
The fae wrapped her arms around the teenager. Suddenly, electrical shock went through her body.

Maar shot a wide eyed glance at the girl, who smiled wickedly.
"We had to catch you sometime. somebody will be here to arrest you soon."
Maar suddenly giggled as best as she could,  unsettling the girl , who pulled out a set of handcuffs.

"Oh, aren't you clever!" Maar purred, gasping for air. Of course, not nearly clever enough. Underneath her tunic, Maar was wearing a rubber top. As the first lock licked, Maar sprung into action. As quick as lightening, she disappeared into the shadows, dragging the girl to the hard floor. The next moment, Maar was standing, and kicked the girl hard enough to make her pass out.  Maar admired her work, rubbing her sore wrist after finding the key. Yes, that girl had been one  of the most clever of her pursuers, but not nearly clever enough. For extra measure, she nicked an old fairy tale book that was sitting on the counter and all the money in the till.
That was fun, she thought, humming to herself as the store's bells chimed behind her.

Ah the modern city, a giant playground for the runners of this era. The Runner's Society goes way back, over a thousand years ago. Back then. TRS was what most today call UPS. Over time they eventually dropped the whole mailing business and just became free runners. Those guys from back in the genesis would have loved to see the playgrounds of today. Nothing like jumping thirty plus feet across a gap a few hundred feet in the air. Things were fine and dandy. Those in TRS barely felt the weight of the law. And honestly, they didn't give half a fuck. Your buddy misstep and he starts to fall? Grab him and pull him to safety. Kinda hard to enforce the law when you can't see the ground through the smog. But eventually, someone caught onto this. Runners, became elite hug dealers. Cops show up? Just run and jump.

Scipio loved his job. Fifty bucks just for a hug. Some people were desperate for affection. Not just the populace either, quite a few 'law enforcement officers' loved hugs as much as anyone. Occasionally, the runners in the city would get together in one of our cleverly hidden safe houses atop buildings. They would just hang out, play video games, love on each other. They were the closest thing to a family since the introduction of The Law.

Scipio looked out over the city. His city. "All work and now play make Scip a very dull boy. How about we go for a run today?" He asked into his walkie talkie, frequency 242.325, a few minutes later he got a few affirmative answers. "This is the life" he said to no one in particular as he jumped of the ledge of a building.

A bureaucrat by day and a bounty hunter by night, she is kept quite busy with her work, ever careful to never let either of the two lives intrude upon the other. Neither world can touch each other. No one can know what she does with the rest of her day. Her family is so proud of her; they think she is the perfect model of upstanding citizenship. They do not know of the blood on her hands. They would never approve of her night job. They consider this occupation to be tainted, too close to the actual criminals. Bounty hunters are just as much of the problem. Her family could never be made to understand. In their eyes she degrades herself by lowering to such a level of work.

But, she loves the nights. She loves the way it feels to race through the shadows on near-silent feet, to stalk her prey like a feline on the prowl, to apprehend a criminal with herself the victor. The nights bring her freedom from her gilded cage of propriety and into a world of swirling emotion. The daytime always seems so dead to her, so devoid of life. Yet, when the sun goes down the world takes on a life of its own. There is danger, fear, oppression, rage, and something else that she has never known before, something that has begun to make her question the morality of her night job.

Was it really so wrong to want to be touched?

The very thought is banned and not something she ever dares speak aloud. However, she cannot help it that just before she opens her eyes in the morn or after she closes them in slumber, that niggling thought worms its way into her thoughts and dreams.

Was it wrong to want a mother's love? Was it wrong to seek companionship? To feel skin against skin? To burn in a fiery embrace?

She often wonders. Yet, the more she wonders, the more she struggles to end the chase come dawn. The lady of the silver darts cannot afford to fail though. She is one of the best there is. But, that also means she is one of the most sought after to take down. A bounty hunter has no friends. She even tries to convince herself that she does not need any, either.

To be honest though, she craves them more than anything. Whether it is because she is in fact tainted by dealing with the criminal world or just has had her eyes opened by it does not matter when everywhere she looks there are eyes looking back, demanding obedience. Her heart demands something else entirely though. Her body craves what it is denied.

It is for this reason that faulty judgement allows her to remove a butter-soft leather glove from a slender-fingered hand and clasp that of a small child's in her own for the briefest of moments in the darkness of an alley. She resists the urge to brush the backs of her knuckles down the blue-eyed boy's cheek or to then pull him close to her breast in a warm embrace.

There in that moment a fire within her is ignited and instead of sated she burns for more. She denies herself it though, instead once more darting off to hunt down another defiler of the law, another person like her who cannot live without submitting to a baser instinct. Her heart strums with the exhilaration and fear of being caught herself. Yet, nothing comes for now. Although, she knows one day they will. They always do.

One day she will fall. One day Tiraris, lady politician and honor-bringer of her family will join with Silverd'art, lady bounty hunter and breaker of the law. One day she will be caught. One day she shall pay for her crime, for the addiction she already knows it will become. One day she will go too far. And one day she will fall.

The year is 1602, Connloath has been slighted in some way, but because the borders have been long closed to outsiders, nobody knows what has happened or what is going on until the massive army starts a march across the globe in a war of extermination against mages. In a matter of weeks, over half of Serendipity has fallen and the Siege of Thanatos is well under way. As the Connloathian army knocks on the doors of the Serenian Captiol, Adela has yet to make a move.

Somehow, business was booming.

There were more wounded coming home; it might be that. Millie's own Harry was still out there, doing her proud; her little brother Thorlin had come home minus a hand and was busying himself training the children. There were also, oddly enough, refugees; refugees of a kind she hadn't considered, people from enemy nations who were against magic and had fled the warzone into the safety of Connloath with a few elocution lessons and the occasional hair bleaching to disguise them. Hoping to hide in obscurity, probably, although Millie had no idea what would happen to them if they were caught. She mostly pretended not to notice; she was pretty sure most other people were doing the same, even the police. If any of them were mages, they gave no hint of it. Some of them brought slaves in; darker-coloured people who would've had a harder time blending in as citizens. Millie wondered how desperate they must have been to choose that path instead of freedom in the new colonies, but their 'masters' seemed to treat them well enough, occasionally forgetting to play their roles. Everyone was pretending not to notice the sudden influx of slaves, too.

"What can I getcha?" she asked the couple who had just settled down at a table. The couple were Annie Ferguson, a girl she'd grown up with, and her new friend Richard Paisley, a stranger who spoke with a slight accent and seemed to be courting her. Millie knew Richard because she was paying him for the services of his slave as a cleaner, and pretending not to notice when the slave occasionally called him 'uncle'. In time, she'd learn. They all would.

"Just ale, thanks," Richard said, focusing his good eye on her. She wondered if he put the other one out himself to better blend in with the injured soldiers, but put the thought out of her mind; it was none of her business.

"Anythin' for my favourite customers," she said with a wink. "But I expect an invitation to the wedding." She laughed as they both blushed.

War didn't change a bartender's job, really. No matter the pain, death, desperation or righteous cause, people would always need a drink.

Her hands gripped the worn rail of The Reaper's Chalice as she gazed pensively out over the water towards the shore where fire and smoke raced to lick the sky. Sleepy Cerenis, Morgan's last hope for resupplying in Serendipity, was gone. She suspected but had hoped that racing the winds and testing her ship to its limits would get them there before Connlaoth did.

It seemed though that her homeland had managed to improve itself in her absence. She had always been slow in politics, in attitudes, and in customs. Morgan had escaped when she could, boarding the first ship she found and never returning homeward again.

She knew she must draw the ship back before they too found themselves caught within the flames, yet her heart was not in the running anymore. They could not go further North, the waters grew too cold and they risked ice flows that would tear out their hull.

A look behind her showed the same despair she felt mirrored in every face of her crew. Steeling herself, Morgan once more fell into her role of barking orders. If the people of Connlaoth wanted to see the world burn, then she damn well was going to race them to the ends of the Earth and back again before she submitted to be prisoner of their ilk.

As they turned once more towards the South, a somber air about them all, she wondered at the rumors they had heard from the last passing ship. Adela still might stand, if but for a moment. Morgan would do what it took to protect her crew who were in her eyes her sole family. If Adela was gone by the time they arrived they would continue South. If need be they could disappear into the desert or push further to the Isles of the Yoreiqi to disband among the natives. Come what storm may, they would persevere. Morgan had gotten them this far and she would take them to the very ends of the Earth need be to keep them breathing but one more day.

The year is 2750, and the world has been forever plunged into darkness for centuries now. Things that once went bump in the night now reign supreme. Humans have nearly been completely wiped out and are on the verge of extinction. Those that have survived are either rebels in hiding or kept pets sold on the black market. Every day the human rebel order known only as the Mordecai do battle against the demons in hopes of reclaiming order.

Rumors abound as to where their headquarters lie yet no significant arrests have been made in any raids. Some say they gather in the desert while others say it is in the heart of the tundra where the exiled are dumped and next to none survive. Still others say it is deep within the now heavily populated catacombs of Connlaoth, right on the devil's doorstep as it were that the rebellion now rests.

The most absurd rumor of all is one that brings both great hope and great despair. It is said that in some places of the world sunlight can be found though no fool has ever seen it. It is said to be found in the most uninhabitable places in all the world though whether that is true or not remains to be seen.
